Really responsive team, extremely helpful, detail oriented etc. Beautiful prints. I am thrilled. Would highly recommend Oscar's photo lab to anyone. Because of the fire, the shop appears to be closed but they will still develop your photos if you send them by email.

I tried light waves, so I figured I give this place a try too! So far not a problem, I really do love that they email you when your order is done!
Will drop off more rolls next time to give a better critique! -

I've been going to Oscar's for 20 plus years. They do it all from B&W printing to Digital scans. They offer great rates and even have a couple of reserved parking spaces in front of their shop.
They accept photo files for my projects so all I need to do is pickup finished products from them.
Supporting Oscar's is like supporting a long running San Francisco family . -

i've been getting my film developed here for some time and love the place, the folks that work here, everything.
sadly this morning i drove by to see that they are closed due to a fire. the sign posted left their email address for any questions but no news or date on if/when they'll re-open. very sad! -

Oscars has been great for quick turnaround on a variety of film (they still do B&W, color and chrome) and really excellent, friendly service. They also send you an email when your order is done, which I love.
I have mainly been going for process-only so I can't speak to the prints. -

They did a big B&W traditional blow-up including some touching up and it was fine. This seems like a very well managed, friendly and family-owned place. We talked about photography a bit. Prices reasonable. I would go back again.
They don't serve burritos, though; it's a photo lab. -

I've gotten a few rolls of 120 film developed here, along with 3 8"x12" prints. They are very reasonably priced, fast, and understanding.
I was promised my prints by Saturday (placed the day before, on Friday), when i spoke to someone else, they asked for a rush charge. I told him I didn't want the prints done. About a minute later I received a call back, and all fees were waived. Nice people, great quality work, at fair prices. -
Review from Bowdoin S.

I have been to Oscar's for my E-6 and black and white processing. Quality was good - my slides and negatives were devoid of dust and scratches.
Prices are great for black and white developing - $6 for a roll of 36 exposures. Slide processing were a bit expensive - $12/roll. I suppose that the price is competitive within S.F., but I am typically not in a rush and would rather spend $8 for processing through A&I's mail order services in LA.
Contrary to other people's experiences, I find it tough to get parking nearby; the 5 minute parking in front has always been occupied when I have been there, and I usually have to scavenge for parking ~ a block away.
Although the company accepts major credit cards, there is a minimum order of $10. I didn't have enough cash the last time I was there to pay for my $6 order, but they were nice enough to make an exception for me. -

I used to have my b&w developed at Gamma SF on Clementina but wasn't too happy with some of their work (the negatives were returned quite dusty and made scanning them more of a chore than it already is). I since then discovered Oscar's photolab on Brannan st and I haven't used anyone else for my b&w work since then.
Super friendly staff and I normally pick up my negatives and contact sheet on Saturdays. I have had a few digital files printed there as well and they all came out very, very nicely.
Go Oscar's :) -

I stopped by on Friday, Oct 14, 2011 to see how their rebuilding is going. Oscars IS rebuilding. They are scheduled to re-open by the end of the year. This is great news, since Oscars is a San Francisco tradition when it comes to us traditional film users (both amateurs and professionals).

Very sad. Seems the shop had a fire and now is out of businesses at least temporarily, I hope. They did a nice professional job. As a replacement, I have been using Lightwaves on Russ St.

They're fast, accommodating and reasonably-priced! I needed a rush print but I didn't need to ask for rush prices because they already said they could do it in 2 days max. And then they called the next day to tell me it was done.
Fast fast fast! Definitely recommend for big print jobs! -

I used to get my negs and slides scanned from Newlab -- which is pretty good -- but they don't do BW. That's how I got to know of Oscar's.
These days I get all my processing and scans done here. It's cheaper too. And I've never had an issue. The staff's very friendly too. -
Review from Sydney T.
San Francisco, CA
I get my 120 film developed here and so far, everything's gone off without a hitch!
I'm always a little intimidated by store clerks, maybe I secretly thought they'd make fun of me or think I'm some wanna-be arty kid. I'm not! But the guy that's been there everytime I've gone in has been really friendly. Not OVERLY friendly. But nice. Not rude...
And my pictures always turn out? I'm not professional and I guess it could just be that my standards are low. But it seems like a pretty high quality place to me!
Cheaper than adolph's and newlab. Have the option for "messy" or clean borders, matte or gloss for prints. And the option of hi-def scanning onto a CD. that's always a perk.
Speaking of perks, a parking spot RIGHT OUT FRONT for quickly dropping off or picking up! two thumbs up. -

This is as local as I can get to processing 120 film. Luckily, my husband walks past the store, so he's able to drop off and pick up my prints. I love the quality and I'm pretty stoked with working with their company.

I've been going to Oscar's for years after trying other places around town. I have them do 120 and 4x5 negative development. The prices are great, as is the processing quality (dip & dunk method). If you have your negs in before 11:00AM, you get same day service. The staff is friendly but professional. They even have a parking place out front reserved for their customers that is perfect for dropping things off.

Review from John R.
San Francisco, CA
Oscar's converted a 90 year old photo of my grandparents that had been printed on convex paper with incredible results. Since the original photo wasn't flat it was not possible to scan it. Oscar's took an image on 4x5 negative and scanned that. The results were great.
They were very patient and understanding throughout the whole process. I couldn't have asked for more.
Thanks to Photoworks who recommended Oscar's when they saw the convex paper and knew I needed a photographic copy.
And the short term parking right in front was a bonus. -

These guys are awesome. Small lab that gets it done right...and for the right price. Need one day turn around? They'll do it if you ask nice. Nice people, great work, great prices, and free 5 minute parking in front while you drop off/pick up. I will never go anywhere else in SF again.

Review from Lydia H.
San Francisco, CA
I've been going to this place for a semester now and have only good things to say. They will push on request, are quick upon developing, and are genuinely nice to work with. Not to mention decently priced. The fact that they will develop 120 and 4x5 is another plus, as there are times when school/work gets in the way and developing becomes a hassle. Good quality on their color processing as well. Not to mention, the business is small and seemingly family owned.

I have been absolutely pleased with all of the work I give to Oscar's. I got a cheap, medium format camera for christmas. Even though I'm a total amateur who loves to snap away, the staff at Oscar's treats me and my film with total respect at a very reasonable price. They do wonderful work with cross-processed slide film, the colors of my last shoot came out so well that all of my friends are begging me to do photo shoots with them.

I've only been to Oscar's a few times to have my E6 slides processed and scanned. The service is absolutely top notch, best in the city. Scans are high quality with an index print on the CD cover. I will definitely be visiting for some custom digital printing.

San Francisco, CA
For professional-quality photo prints in San Francisco, this is the place to go. With digital images, they have a ZBE Chromira processor and a knowlegeable staff able to handle the most demanding requirements, such as ICC color profiles and high-resolution enlargements of panoramas, plus FTP uploads of TIF files. Very modest prices (for this quality), reasonable turnaround, and great folks to deal with. For comparable results, you might go to NewLab or Dmax Imaging, but you'd pay considerably more.

These folks are very good. After other labs lost my film (!) or overcharged me--thanks, Newlab!--I found Oscars.
They've been close to perfect. They did mess up one thing: the staff didn't follow written order. But it was pretty minimal (though unfixable).
And they're nice and helpful. They get my business. -
Review from m c.
San Francisco, CA
Took some film to be scanned as they are close to my work, and I had been recommended to my by co-workers.
I had a couple of rolls of cross processed negatives that I needed to have rescanned, as the first place I took them scanned at too low a resolution, and didnt do a great job.
Oscars was friendly, and very helpful, and went out of the way to help me out. They promised the scans in two days, and turned them around in one. Best of all, the scans were significantly better (and higher resolution) than I had had done before.
Giving 4 stars right now, until I get some film developed there (which I am doing tomorrow). Great place, they know their stuff.
They have 5 minute parking out front also. -

I can't say enough wonderful things about this place. The processing quality is superb, the price is right, and the customer service is top-notch. If they finish your order early (which happens with some level of frequency), they will call you to let you know.
I will never take my film anywhere else! -

I've been going to Oscar's for years. It's a family run business and when you walk in you are treated like family. There have been numerous times that the guys have pulled threw for me either on my mistake, theirs or a clients. The work is consistent, timely and the prices aren't crazy.

oscar's is one of the few places in the city that processes 120 medium format film. i've only had color negatives and transparencies done there and they did a good job and didn't cost an arm and a leg. also they're open on saturdays which's a plus.

Great lab with friendly staff. Prices seem very fair for the quality of the work. I've used Oscars for making contact sheets of B&W work, scanning, and large prints, and they do all it all very well (and they are very fast too).

San Francisco, CA
First off, their prices are some of the best in the City (though film developing + prints + scans are never cheap). I was recommended by my B&W Photography teacher, and it did not dissappoint. Solid customer service (good communication, followed my varied development needs accurately). Hands down, my go-to place in SF. Extra points due to the fact that they don't close until 7pm on Wed., which is a plus for a 9-5'er such as myself.
