To second Elizabeth's review of the Science Center as a party spot... I was so impressed by some of their recent events, I decided to have my wedding there in March.

Planning so far has been a breeze. Helen and Terry are top-notch professionals, extremely pleasant to deal with and have assured me every step of the way. The price, I feel, is very reasonable... and the options abound. You can get hitched on the Sun Trust Terrace, Dino Digs, the lobby (either facing the big tree or the big window overlooking Loch Haven Park) or the Founder's Room.

We picked the terrace for the reception and ceremony ... it overlooks downtown Orlando and it 6,000 square feet assuring all your guests can mingle with plenty of room. In between we're doing a cocktail hour in the Dino Digs ... because why get married at the Science Center without a little fun.

Aramark does the special events catering there and have just hired one of the chefs who opened Disney's California Grill. He's fantastic. I've had two tastings (one with their old chef, and one with the new guy) and I can say the food at our wedding is going to be fantastic.

Of course, what good is all this planning if the big day doesn't go off perfectly? I'll be sure to update you all in March :)

Cocktails & Cosmos! Instead of talking about the Orlando Science Center as a whole, I am talking about this event held every quarter to celebrate new exhibits around the center.  This party is one of a kind and unique to Orlando.

Mobil libation units (booze on wheels) are set up in various spots in the museum so guests can sip on, and walk around to network.  Provided are food and music & dancers and artists come alive.  Each floor offers a new adventure at the Center.  Cost is about $12-13 but oh so worth it!

The kids loved the interactive kid city, particularly the orange juice factory!  The exhibits were well designed, educational, and interesting.  It was a nice change of pace after having visited Disney World.  The tornado tunnel was a hit with the kids and the weather exhibit in general was pretty good.  We spent a great deal of time in the 'Physics of Sports' exhibit.

The IMAX theater is totally cool, even if it makes you a little nauseous.

I haven't been in a while, but the last time I went I had a camera with me  & the pictures of the screen came out real nice.

I recommend it highly!!

The IMAX theatre makes up for the fact that the museum itself is not very vast.  After having been to science museums like The Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, the American Museum of Natural History in New York, the Atlanta Science Center, or the Miami Planetarium, this one seemed rather humdrum.  It still is a science center, so you should have a great time.  I just wasn't too impressed overall.  The planetarium is great but showtimes don't run all day.

It costs bit more than a movie, but the Iwerks movie and the bi-weekly night-time observation are totally worth it.  It's so much fun to learn about all the stars and get to see them with the telescope.  If you're ever looking for something different, check out the OSC.  Definitely call first to make sure they are open--they usually have it on the first and third weekends, but they have been known to cancel for various reasons.

I have been a regular visitor of OSC and the Cinedome since before it reopened on Princeton in 1997, simply because I am addicted!  Every few months they change the exhibits, so there's something new to check out every time I need a science fix.
