I was out running holiday errands and decided to order a lunch special from Oriental Flavor. I chose sesame chicken with brown rice and hot and sour soup. I also added on a dim sum combo. I used the online ordering option and received notification of when it would be ready. Unfortunately when I arrived at the stated time the food wasn't ready. I had to wait ten or so minutes. It was nicely packaged and I settled down in my car ready for a nice lunch. To my dismay no napkins, or utensils were provided. I'm pretty handy but trying to eat rice and chicken chunks without a fork or spoon is going to end up a huge mess. Thank goodness for Whole Foods. Disposable utensils and napkins available right inside the door. The food was alright. Rice was nice and hot and the portions were pretty good. Would probably order again but would have been much better with utensils.

Had a nice dinner at Oriental Flavor recently. The restaurant was packed but our wait wasn't long. The food was pretty good. Ma Po Tofu wasn't as spicy as I like but the Orange Chicken was crispy and tasty. The crystal veggies were lightly sautéed and fresh. Overall good food in a very utilitarian setting.

My husband ordered General Tso chicken. I ordered Orange Chicken not spicy.
We soon learned there is no difference between the two meals! Except for a few peppers on top of the General Tso's.
Rice was ok. Soups were ok. Service was good. Will we return? Maybe. Wondering how many other meals are duplicates.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Leyla R.North Reading, MA012Oct 11, 2023
I ordered mapo tofu from the vegetarian section and a side of white rice on DoorDash. (I didn't realize that it already comes with a side of white rice, so I received two sides of white rice). Though mapo tofu traditionally has pork, I didn't realize that they also have a listing for mapo tofu with pork under their pork section, and both listings are simply "mapo tofu" (the vegetarian version is slightly cheaper). Unfortunately, I assume that DoorDash doesn't provide the restaurant with the menu section that the item was ordered from, so I received mapo tofu with pork. Luckily, DoorDash refunded me. The menu on Oriental Flavor's website doesn't have this problem, as the mapo tofu under the vegetarian section is listed as "veg. mapo tofu". If you're vegetarian or otherwise don't eat pork and order from their online menu, you should be fine, but beware if ordering from DoorDash. Putting "vegetarian" in the special notes section might work. Hopefully, Oriental Flavor changes their DoorDash listing for the veg mapo tofu in the future.
Other than that, the dish was tasty, and I would recommend it if you're able to order it properly. However, I haven't had many restaurants' mapo tofu before, so I'm not sure how it compares.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dave C.Amherst, MA119Oct 6, 2023
My family's go-to place for legit Szechuan cuisine. Food is the best in town, service is thoughtful, takeout is efficient.

Honestly I passed by this restaurant based on the exterior building's appearance. And I only relented to stopping for lunch because all the restaurants were full. But to my surprise, the food here was excellent! The dim sum is definitely freshly made but the best was the beef and broccoli. They used a high quality cut of beef and it was the best beef and broccoli I've ever had. Looking forward to coming back for more!

i always order the lunch specials from here and they're just too good!!! a big bowl of orange chicken (or sesame, there's other options too but this is my go to), takeout box of rice, AND small container of hot and sour or corn chicken soup for just $10-$11! this serving usually lasts me two meals worth lol. the orange chicken and sesame chicken are really good- not too doughy and yummy texture.

My family gets dimsum from Oriental flavor at least once a month. It's a complete hit, even with young kids. The staff are very friendly and have always been helpful, even with special requests. I've taken many a friend there and never left disappointed. When the vibe is good like it is at Oriental Flavor, I'll always go back.
My only feedback for the restaurant is that it can feel a bit off to enter for dine in and see so much space dedicated to takeout (1/2 of the main part of the restaurant) - almost as if that's the main function.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 1 - George C.Acton, MA010Oct 2, 2023
