Deciding that Round Rock was too far to drive (i live in Austin) i looked into Bradz and Bo, both turned out to be major mistakes.
So after letting my hair grow out a bit i called to make an appointment with Tracy (she had cut my hair once before and did a fantastic job) and she was no longer working there :(

But they set me up with Alla instead and i decided to take another chance.
After she listened to what i wanted, which had the potential to be very confusing (layers but not this kind, this length here this length there, blend this, oh, and i have a mixture of wavy/curly/straight hair so keep that in mind and please don't make me into a mushroom!) she ended up giving me EXACTLY what i asked for! I was amazed actually, and i have since taken my boyfriend to her (with great results) and decided that round rock is not to far to drive for a great haircut.

Kelli cut my hair yesterday and she did a phenomenal job!  Her attention to detail and understanding of hair was impressive.

It is so great to find a real hair stylist that does the full job right from washing and preparing the hair for cutting, cutting it wet and refining it once dry.  The hand cut approach is slower but the results are so much better than the rushed 10 minute barber chair approach common in most of the cheapie places.  Yes, it does cost more to have a professional hair cut but the cost works out to less than $2 a day for me with a generous tip included.

Her cut passed the real test this morning.  After washing my hair, it was a simple matter of drying it and I was ready to go.  Life is so easy with a good cut!  I'm definitely returning in 5 weeks (as recommended) and staying with a winner.

(After five weeks, Kelli's second hair cut was as good as her first!)

Thank you yelpers for your recommendation.  I would have never known about this salon without your help.

I have had my hair cut a couple of times by Nicola. I believe she is the either the owner or manager. Or both, or neither. Not sure. She always does a good job, especially for my ex who also used to go here. He was really picky but never knew how to explain what cut he wanted. She does everything by hand, and the result is always consistent and very flattering. I find the quality of my cuts to be great, also.

I'd recommend this salon for a reliably good, classy cut. It isn't cheap, but the quality is consistent. If you're looking for something super-funky and so hip it'll be passé next week, you probably want to look elsewhere. Also, don't be afraid to say no to buying hair products if you don't want them. You may need to be assertive!

I have been a patron of this salon for about 3 years now, and I highly recommend them.  I usually visit Nicky (owner), but Irum and all the other ladies have styled or colored my hair and they are very talented. The service and professionalism is suberb, I am always pleased!
The facials are super relaxing and a wonderful stress relief.  And I am totally hooked on the Aveda products. Try it out.

Thanks to Yelp, I found an Aveda hair salon only a few miles from my house! It was time for my 8 week trim since my hair was getting pretty long so I called and they were able to fit me in the morning since someone had just cancelled. So, I got ready and headed over there. I got my hair cut last time at Breeze Salon up in Georgetown, but this was way closer to my house.

Service was great here! I got served tea and cookies during my cut. The lady who cut my hair was very friendly and was Paki. I practiced my urdu with her since one of my best friends from college is also Paki and taught me a few lines. She found it very amusing. I got my a-line touched up which a lot of places have managed to screw up, but she was right on! I had my back shortened and kept the front the same length. When she was finished, I was getting compliments left and right!

The girl next to me was getting a super cute short bob. If I dared going that short, I'd get my hair cut like that! Everyone who came in and out left with great hair.

They do take walk ins, but it's probably best to make an appointment. If you visit their website, you can print a coupon for 10% off any Tues, Wed, but I forgot to do that--ah well!

Hard to review accurately...

I got a great haircut. But it was $35 dollars! for a men's cut.
Normally, I just shave it down with a #3 guard. I appreciate that they only use the comb-over-scissors technique - but $35 + tip?

Nice place but count me out.

When you don't have much hair left and what you do have is all turning grey anyway, it doesn't make much sense to pay a lot of money to get it cut at a place like this.  I have been here before, but just to purchase my favorite shampoo.  For some reason today, I wandered over here and decided to let them cut my hair.

Alla did a great job.  She offered me something to drink, but I didn't really need anything at the time.  Then it was a shampoo and a haircut.  The nice part about the visit was talking to her about her travels and telling her about some of mine.  She had an interest in people who had sailed around the world, so I gave her a link from a great story I had read online about a guy from San Antonio who quit his job as a real estate agent in 2000 and lived his dream for seven years sailing the globe.  Maybe she will be inspired to start her own journey?

Anyway, check this place out if you need something from Aveda or if you need a nice relaxing haircut.

Ok folks,  almost ANYONE can cut hair... But to cut curly hair and have it look as good as my hair looks right  now... That's a damn miracle!  I've been searching for a new hotspot North of A-town, and this is it!  Niki just cut my hair and I LOVE IT!  She cut it into a short style EXACTLY the way I wanted it.  AND then she helped me figure out the perfect color.  I wanted to go from medium to short for the summer, and it's so easy to screw up curly hair when it goes short.  I've only been this happy with my haircut once, and this time it cost me a fraction of the price:)  It just doesn't get any better than this!  I would highly recommend this salon to anyone!

awesome!  They were able to get me in with short notice, and April did an awesome job with the waxing!  Full facial wax for 45, not a bad price. :-)
