A beautiful park with lots of space and fairly well-maintained facilities! My company hosted an off-site picnic at this park on a Thursday. There was plenty of parking for the employees and even space for four food trucks to line up (they were catering the event for lunch). When we arrived at around 10:30am, the grass had been freshly cut, so the field was slippery and messy to walk on, but by the time the sun dried up all the moisture, it was perfect! There was more than enough space to set up a volleyball court, an obstacle course, a badminton court, and a dodgeball area, with plenty of space to spare! There's also a baseball diamond and basketball courts.
We had a reserved pavilion with lots of picnic benches, both out in the sun and in the shade. The bathrooms were fairly well maintained for being a public park, compared to others I've visited.
I definitely wouldn't mind coming back again! -

It's a decent park for kids playing and families gathering. Went there for a BBQ birthday party of an adult, we enjoyed so much. There're plenty of space between tables and BBQ pits. The play structures are nice for kids playing. My kids are preschoolers and they found so much fun playing there.
One thing I really like is that a print-out sheet with the party name and details will be sticked on the post at each reserved site. We can easily know which one to claim.
I feel like holding my kid's birthday party here. But the website of Parks & Recreation Department of SSF is not user friendly. When online reservation and payment are so common, it requires a phone reservation then paying at the administration office within 48 hours. Also, I cannot find the fees on the site. -

Love this park! We just bought a home in the neighborhood, and my daughter loves going to the smaller playground in the picnic area behind the baseball field.
We just hosted our daughter's 1st birthday here at Picnic Area #4. The closest area to the playground. It was a fun day- but I will say the reservation fee is a bit steep for a picnic area at $99. It was also dirty with bird droppings, etc.
Overall, a great park with many amenities (picnic area, dog park, playground, baseball, swimming pool, etc). But if planning a party, just be aware that the picnic areas aren't the cleanest. -

Orange Park. I grew up across the street, and Ive got a lot of stories...
Its a beautiful park. Tennis, basketball, and bocce ball courts. Theres a baseball field, great recreational services, like five picnic areas, and two playgrounds for children. Oh, and not to mention the skate park(a lot has changed since I moved).
Just a note: its great in the MORNING. Dont go at night, a lot of crazy people and things, both explainable and not, happen at night.
But, spookiness aside, its a great park and I love it there! That place is where a lot of my childhood was. -

One of the most modern looking, and well maintained parks I've experienced. This park is pretty huge. I usually go here for basketball since there's usually runners trying to play. There are 2 full courts. I'm pretty picky when it comes to playing basketball outdoors, but the concrete floor is smooth and clean, and no sign of debris. There's plenty of parking too. This park offers something for everyone.
About 20+ acres of.....
Basketball courts
Tennis Courts
Baseball diamonds
Bocce Ball courts
Soccer field
Dog Park
Rec Center
Indoor Pool
Playground
BBQ pits
Picnic tables
$1 Taco Truck
and plenty of grass -

The dog park at Orange Memorial is really great. I take my dog here when driving out to Fort Funston is too inconvenient.
Perks:
*There are two areas designated for the larger and smaller dogs
*Water fountains inside the pens
*Always lots of doggies for your dog to play with
What's really impressive is the size of the pen for the larger dogs. Most dog parks have a slightly larger sized pen for the bigger dogs, but this dog park has a huge space for the big dogs to run in. There's also a trail outlining the perimeter of the larger dog pen.
We will definitely be frequenting this place more often as the weather gets better. -

I found this park a couple of weeks ago and it's a gem. It has a dog park, a running trail, bocce ball courts, and a farmers market every Saturday. The running trail starts at South San Francisco Bart station and ends at San Bruno Bart. Another happy find in my neck of the woods. :P

It looks way better than it did ten years ago. The surrounding area has also improved. Used to swim at the pool here, but haven't been in a while. Farmers markets on Saturday's!!!

I really liked this dog area. My huge beast of a labrador obviously hung out in the Big Dog play area, and he had a blast. Now, he is more mellow than some, but once we got going on a walk around the trail he was more into his own element. Most big dogs in the area were fun and easy to get along with, except for this one pit bull who got into 3 altercations while we there (length of time- 1 hour). Beware of unruly dogs who get into multiple altercations. There was even some blood :(
Aside from that dog, I would definitely come back and bring my dog here. If SF decides to close Fort Funston, I'll definitely be taking my dog here for his walk and time with other dogs. -

The park is great-- but you've already read about that.
I'm here to say- come here for the TACO TRUCK! Not only are the staff super friendly, but the tacos are the best on the Peninsula. (And I've done my research.)
Reccomended: Chicken taco, spicy + with everything on it. Don't skimp on the lime. You're missing out if you haven't had one. I couldn't even begin to express how unexplainably AMAZING these darn things are, do yourself a favor and get a taco for lunch. -

I've been here twice, each time for Lawrence L.'s birthday parties for each of his kids. The park is fairly easy to reach. It's off of El Camino Real in South San Francisco, and there's ample parking on the street and parking lots. There's a large baseball field, a large field for soccer, playground, and a large community center.
For this party, the entire pool was reserved for an hour and a half. Parts of the pool are sectioned off, depending on the swimming ability of the kids. The rental also includes use of outside area to set up tables to set up our catered food for the party. Apparently, it's a very popular venue for outdoor celebrations and get togethers because I've seen many parties here going on at the same time.
Very clean park facilities for both the pool and fields. -
Review from Earl G.
Great place for some 5 on 5 pick up basketball. Two well lit fenced in courts with nets, a clean water fountain just in case you didn't bring your gatorade plus best of all - the couple days that I've been playing is that there hasn't been any wind, which in SSF is priceless.
We use to play at Promenade near the Costco and at Buri Buri, but might as well set up hula hoop over a garbage can and stay at home because those places are just wack compared to Orange. Don't even get me started on Gellert.
The crowd for the pick up games are cool, no And-1 mix tape wanna bee's here. The Samoans are cool. Mostly locals from Elco and SSF. No crackheads and drug dealers which is always good sign.
They completely revamped this park, especially the place where they hold Karate classes. The building looks awesome and is well lit. I actually use to take Karate here when I was a little boy.
As good as it gets when it comes to playing outdoor night b-ball south of SF. -

Love the basketball side, where there is a open field of lots of grass for my doggy to go crazy. He loves it there, runs around like a crazy boy. Much better than the dog park where it is all dirt in which my dog is not a big fan of.

It's a busy suburban park but with lot parking and more on surrounding public streets. At first glance it's hard to tell which jungle gym is for older kids and which is for tots, but I saw tots go on both. So I took my son on both. One structure has a ramp you can walk up to get to slides or farther up to the highest slides. The other structure is smaller but also has two steepish slides. Surprisingly the twisty slide was slow, slow, slow -- I went down it to check the speed myself.
Sadly the structures here are aging. The wood train is badly chipped, and the swingset frame is a bit rusty. -

Orange Park is a lovely spot in the middle of SSF. The town park/rec department has done a great job with this place. It's HUGE for one thing. Plenty of room to run & play. The grounds are kept up very well and it's really quite pretty. I wish my neighbors would take their damn loud-ass kid here more often so she could expend some energy and quit being such a banshee all the time!!

This place is pretty awesome. I swam there as a kid and actually still go all the time. The pool is a little run down but it's kept pretty well. :) Def. should come here.
The pools actually clean!
Sauna is in good use. One diving board. Sections and lanes are separated at certain times of swimming so I would definitely recommend anyone that comes to call ahead and know how the pool and what type of rec it is at that time.
Staff is usually decently helpful. -

Orange Memorial Park is pretty interesting. It encompasses about 21 acres: has two play areas, picnic areas, baseball diamonds, basketball courts, tennis courts, bocce ball, soccer fields, a community building, and a swimming pool.
The pool can be rented for private parties and is open at various times for play, laps, and open for kids at special hours.
The playground is decent. The structures are fairly perilous. I do not like that they are only for older kids. I would like a better play area for babies under 3, similar to Ryder Park. The metal structures are dangerously high and the part that kids walk on is made out of perforated metal (I guess for water run through when it rains or is foggy), which is bad for new walkers. I say they are too high because you can't help your baby onto the slide and catch them at the bottom of the slide, it's just not physically possible.
Otherwise, it's a decent park, just not geared for babies.
I do like that there is a Farmer's Market during the summer. -

Last time TB brought me here I was disappointed because all 6 tennis courts were packed.
But last night was a good night. I got excited seeing an empty court. This is the first time that TB and I are gonna play after Palm Springs and after my vacation in Manila. So there is so much excitement going on.
It wasnt as chilly anymore since its Spring, TB tried on his new shoes, the surface was far better than Dolores Park and San Rafael High. IM pretty sure this courts are packed on mornings.
Will definitely come back to play, once TB invited me again. -

Just two stars for now since the playground has been absolutely demolished and there's nothing but a sign with a kids' drawing of a park with a phone number for the city to find out what's going on. Nothing sadder than getting your 2 year old rev'ed up to go to the playground, only to find out that its... not... there... anymore.... Kaboom playgrounds are supposed to build it with the community August 26th according to their website (http://kaboom.org) ... we shall see.. and my stars for this review will hopefully go up :)

5 stars for that south city park
lets see they got a baseball field, they got pits for your Q, they got indoor swimming pool, i think they still have a resevoir (open walled water system) not sure it is still visible, they basketball court, and they got fields lots of space for folks to play soccer and football, even tennis courts
hit up this spot regularly for some family bbq outtings or friends bball outtings if not for spot to enjoy your lil lucca's sandwich during lunch.
they got squirrels running a muck looking cute eyeing your food whether it be a sandwich or even your fries from mcdonalds, they got crows always around stealing what you put out for the squirrels.
during the summer they got the farmers market mostly local farmers offering there fresh squeezed juice, veggies if not even your kettle corn, and dogs.usually from 8-2pm i think if not 12pm
saturday mornings and sunday mornings they got several soccer players out in full gear , and the taco truck waiting almost calling em when they take there break, also u got the lil leaguers during the weekends if not weekday nites. got a lil of everything for everyone here at this park. also they got room for football players full contact no pads or flag is u dont wanna get hurt haha
there is enough room for large families and i mean like 20+ folks not much shade by the bbq pits but the tall trees cover the gleaming sun to make it bearable to be out during those summer days.
great place to go if you want to be out and about during a nice sunny day and if you want to bbq definitely recommend this place to new families that just want to walk around or let their kids run wild haha
park ***** alot of room for almost anything you want to do.
restrooms **** fairly clean i think their are 3 total if not 4, one by the basketball court, one by the bbq picnic area, one in the swimming pools spot cant remember if there was a 4th
price - free i dont recall every paying for a bbq area or even reserving for a spot -

i swim at Orange Pool often. as far as the other pools I've seen in the Bay Area, compared to Westmore, this one is sparkling clean. they should redo the showers/locker area, for it is very old and outdated. maybe the next grant we get from the State, they could do that???
i recommend lap swimming in the morning, rather than the evening. and when you share a lane, stay on your side!!! don't forget your flipflops!Listed in: Leave HDTV Home, You'll Find…

Been supporting our local park and rec facility. Been coming here for over a year now. Still love it (except the hours! REally wished they had evening hours). Since my initial review, they cut some hours last yr. They used to have 2 nites a week and Sat rec swim so they cut one evening and the sat rec swim.
If i want to swim on Sat., I'll have to get up really early to do it during Sat's lap swim session.1 Previous Review: Show all »

There are 5 Tennis courts, 2 sections with 2 a piece and there is one solo tennis court. If you get the solo one, you are free to act as childish as you like on the court since there are no worries of hitting the ball in other people's courts. Hakuna Matata I say.
There also used to be an old tennis coach that always used that single tennis court named Chico. I don't know if he still coaches, but he would always kick me off of that court because it was reserved. It's ok old friend, it is ok.
I also like the dog park they have for the big dogs and small dogs. My small dog doesn't get along very well with big dogs, so he doesn't get to go over there. Well, my small dog doesn't get along with any dogs bigger than he is, and he's only 3 pounds so most dogs are bigger than him.
Back up now, this dog is vicious! Looks can be deceiving. Cute cuddly little Yorkshire Terrier. He'll go up to the other little dogs and let them smell his junk, but once they don't let him get his own whiff of theres, they better back up or else. This is just a warning to all the dogs out there, let StudMuffin smell it or else he'll turn into the Hulk. -

For a public pool, the swimming pool is really good. It's so much cleaner than Giamonna and there's hot water in the showers. That may not sound like much - but again, Giamonna doesn't have that. There's a really cool group of regulars who are really friendly and really good swimmers. All of them are really courteous - none of that cutting each other off or swimming like hurricanes and kicking up hella water. Great place, although no private showers.

there is a fenced in dog area, which is a reason i went to the park.
it has 2 sections, one for small dogs and the other for large dogs.
the small dog area has fake grass area and pebbles. the pebble part can be dusty, but it would not be muddy like stern grove after the rain, so we will be using this park a lot during the winter.

Like J S said, Orange Memorial Park has it all: tennis courts, baseball diamonds, picnic tables, and so forth; the only thing that I did not know is that the park is on 21 acres of land. I have been there twice for the Day in The Park festival. Like I look for and mention with any park, this one is well maintained and will be here for years to come. Keep up the good work City of South San Francisco.!

We went to this park for the dog area. We have 2 dogs and often take our friend's dog. There is a large area for big dogs and a small area for small ones. The areas are completely fenced and have a 2 gate system so you can come in safely without any dogs escaping. We spent our time in the large area so that's what most of my review is about. Most of the area is layered in wood chips which do a pretty good job of keeping the area dry, but there are a few puddles and muddy areas. Our dogs got dirty, but they didn't mind! All of the owners and dogs there seemed polite and friendly, not uppity or snoody. We have a rottie and she is always on her best behavior but we still run into ignorance from time to time. We didn't here, that was nice. The dogs ran and ran and ran some more. Love all the space, just wish there were more grass and trees and better drainage. Overall really cool, I recommend it for anyone who is looking for a fully fenced area - other parks tend to have open entries which allow runners to escape. The friend's dog we take with us is a runner! So, we appreciate the secure area.
