Came here for lunch with some co-workers on a recommendation from another Yelper. Thank you!

    This place is awesome!
I ordered the daily special: 2 red snapper fish tacos on a plate with a large drink $9. Also comes with rice and a salad.
One co-worker ordered the same while another ordered a veggie burrito. Everyone was thrilled with their selections. The fish tacos were fresh and hot off the grill.
We have got to come back and try the other fish combinations.

    A must try:
    - cheese nacho
I really like the cheese for the cheese nacho here.  It's simple yet so delicious.
    - It's super authentic.
    - Staffs are kind.
    - Two TV's for when you want to dine and watch the game.

Went here with my cousin who found it I don't know.

All I have to say is the food is very good.  I had a taco salad minus everything dairy and it was great.  I would definitely recommend this place.  Looks like a hole in the wall but has the taste of heaven.

If you get a chance check it out!

First off - I read a lot of the past reviews and anyone should know what they are walking into before they order and expect 5 star service in a road side cafe.  You also can't compare San Jose with San Diego as far as fish tacos go.  BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS.

That said, this place is better than the average road side cafe.

Orale is much understaffed, especially around lunch time and they are all Spanish speaking people behind the counter.  If you try to order "Harry Met Sally Style" and ask for a bit of this and less of that... well, stay at home and ask your Mom to make you a meal then.

I think the mix of reviews also depends on what you order.  Most of the food is middle of the road... Yet, often it all just comes together and it tastes terrific.

Sure they have mismatched plates and you eat out of a basket, but you knew that when you walked into this place and saw everyone else doing the same.  Orale is better than other roadside cafe's in that it's got huge flat screens playing sports and comfortable seats.  So kick back, eat some delicious fish tacos and relax at Orale.

Was in the area around lunch and wanted to try out the place as I have passed it numerous times.  You can probably get a pretty good idea of how it is with over 200 reviews so far, so I'll just add my .02

Free WIFI !  Yay for those without a smart phone, good if you have a iPod touch or iPad, etc...

I had the special 2 fish taco plate for ~$7.95. They had 'chilean sea bass', but it's pretty much cod. (My guess)  They come with chips which were OK and some salsa that seemed like it was tomato sauce with a few spices added.  This was probably one of the blandest tasting salsas that I've ever had.  They can make a fresh pico de gallo very easy and it would be much better.

The rice on the plate was also bland, just as much as their salsa.  If I can cook better spanish rice, I'm not impressed.  I use a jarred hot salsa, rice, onion, chicken stock and season with salt and pepper.  Sometimes I add garlic and Serranos.

OK with those 2 out of the way, the fish tacos were pretty good.  They were pretty tasty with a green and white sauce on top to complement the light fish flavors.  I could probably eat at least 4 of them........work it off tomorrow...

    Of 5 stars:

    Ambiance: * (It's a taco joint)
    Service: **
Food:  **** (Rating just for the tacos)
    Value: **

If you want good fish and seafood tacos, plates, burritos, check out Dia de Pesca which is close to Bascom and San Carlos.

Orale is awesome. Their breakfast burritos hit the spot as do their fish tacos. For Breakfast I usually get the bacon Egg burrito and its great start your day off food. And Tacos I get the Halibut or Ahi. However I recently noticed that they took Ahi off their menu, so sad. For the plate meals, I recommend asking for re-fried beans in place of the salad, the dressing is a little awkward.
Parking is plentiful and they have two tv's usually playing a game or ESPN. The owner is super friendly, and I think they offer free wi-fi as well.

I love Orale! I come here pretty often for fish tacos or a breakfast burrito. The breaded halibut is what I get every time and two of them are very filling! The rice and beans aren't bad either. They will give you chips and salsa if you dine in, but if it's to go it costs a little extra. The different salsa's are the best! The owner is usually there and he is very nice. I love going here because it's quick, easily accessible and there is usually a place to sit, indoor or outdoor (in warm weather).

Hello, my name is Jeannie and I'm addicted to fish tacos.

I'm not sure why I hadn't thought of checking "yelp" before now for my beloved favorite meal, but finally some kind of light came on and I came to you, Yelpers.  Once again, you did not lead me astray.

First of all, service was so friendly and fast.  Even brought us some chips and very good salsa to our table while we waited.  In just a few minutes, our lunch was served to us and we dug in.

We had two different kinds, shrimp and then the sea bass.  Shrimp was really good.  Done perfectly but then we hit the sea bass and holy cow.   Heaven!  Seasonings to sauce, this thing was everything you could want in a fish taco.  Fish, succulent!  Tortillas fresh but stayed together.  We had a salad and rice with it and it was all just so fresh and really hit the spot.

It was one of those meals where you drive away in an afterglow.

    True story.

I am a huge fan of the fish taco.  At Orale, I actually prefer the veg taco....they are soooo yummy!  I think it has more flavor than the fish tacos.  Just my own personal opinion.
    Friendly, fast service.

I haven't tried much else, so I can't really comment.

I didn't think this place was all that, however, my office did get takeout when I had it. My sea bass taco wasn't that great, a little soggy and flavorless, but it was probably sitting for a while and I don't know why I got sea bass, I don't really like sea bass; what was I thinking? I got ceviche too which was actually pretty good. I think I need to come back, too bad the bf doesn't like mexican food.

We dropped by here with a fish taco craving and I was hoping this would be my go-to fish taco joint.  We ordered halibut and sea bass tacos and a carnitas quesadilla, which came with free chips and salsa.

The fish tacos were fine and average. They seemed bland and lacked a kick, as if my tacos were missing something. Maybe they were missing a special sauce? The quesadilla was good and tasted like your standard quesadilla.  I live nearby, so I may drop by and see if the fish tacos are different on another night.

I find it very fun to say the name of this place.  ORALE!

On that note, this place is legit.  Don't get me wrong, but I do love me Dia de Pesca and Iguanas shrimp taco, but Orale may be a new favorite spot.  Realizing that it is known for its seafood selection (and me being a fat ass), I ordered the following items to try: Fried Halibut Taco, Halibut Taco, Shrimp Taco, Sea Bass Taco and Red Snapper Tostada.

All the tacos are topped with cabbage, a green salsa, and an orange sauce.  They also tend to include lime, grilled bell peppers, jalapenos and onions which add a nice sweetness and spicy kick to the tacos.

The Sea Bass, Fried Halibut and Halibut tacos are pretty legit and on par with Dia de Pesca (my golden standard).  The fish was fresh, perfectly cooked and tender.  On to the heavy hitters.

The tostada is massive.  It is a fried tortilla topped with TONS of delicious, fresh fish (in my case, red snapper), beans, salsa, guacamole, crema, queso fresco and cilantro.  It is damn delicious and is a meal in itself or the perfect item to share with everyone.

My favorite item of the night, and another one of the few food items I put in my mouth that made me say "Oh My God", was the shrimp taco.  Orale has set a new standard for me.  The shrimp was fresh as can be, plump, succulent and cooked to perfection (you know shrimp is cooked perfectly when you bite into it and it pops and explodes with flavor).  My first bite had green salsa, sauce, tortilla, cabbage, and most importantly, perfect shrimp.  The experience is hard to describe and is something you need to experience on you own.  The flavor is orgasmic.  It is simply AWESOME!

On that note, I am damn hungry now.

Stopped by for quick bite.  Decided to order a few regular tacos and also try their street tacos.

Love that this place allows you to choose a variety of fish types (salmon, sea bass, tilapia, halibut, etc.) for their higher end taco.

The street tacos are the better deal but are quite a bit smaller and don't have much in the way of toppings.  The chicken street taco I got was tasty, but nothing special.

As for the regular tacos, they are differentiated by their larger size and also the inclusion of shredded cabbage on top as well as a green salsa sauce.  I thought it was an ok addition to the carne asada taco, but really enjoyed it paired with the sea bass tacos.

Overall, it was a solid quite bite.  I'd stick to the fish tacos and probably only go for the street tacos if I wanted variety.

The flavors are fresh and prices are good for portion sizes. There is also a great selection. Super friendly service.

I ordered a fish chimichanga but feel like there was a lack of sea bass in there and I actually felt like I was fishing. There were good chunks here and there but again.. a little disappointed that the balance between fish and everything else was lacking.. But I must say the chimichanga was awesomely garnished and crispy!

I still ate most of it b/c the food was so fresh and tasty (especially if I was eating vegetarian).  I am hoping next time I order a meat dish that there will be a larger amount than the fish.

My bf got the fish tacos and they were good. He also felt like there could have been a little bit more fish.

Can this place be anymore salty? Everything was wayyyyy too salty.

Shrimp ceviche tostada - super salty.
Chile verde taco - ridiculously salty.
    Halibut fish taco - bland.
Chilean sea bass taco - fishy, the flavor was a bit off.
Carnitas taco - drum roll please...salty!

Hold the salt next time, and I MAY be back. However, the chips and salsa was surprisingly superb. The chips were thin, fresh and crispy. And the salsa was delicious with just the perfect kick.

The next time I'm craving fish tacos, I'm heading over to Dia de Pesca in San Jose.

I'm willing to give them another shot, but we weren't at all impressed with the food we ate when we visited on Sunday. My super chicken burrito lacked flavor and the rice was pretty icky. My husband felt the same about his fish burrito with breaded halibut. However, the shining star of our meal was our 2-year-old's food: We ordered her a bean burrito off the kids menu and asked to have it fried (she was more willing to eat it if it was firm, toddlers are PICKY!!). They happily obliged our request. Our burritos came out and the 2-year old's burrito was the same size as ours! HAHA! Hers was actually REALLY good-- like I would actually consider ordering that off a menu.

When we come again, we won't order the same items and we may swing to the Taco end of the menu, but the customer service and the food quality may come through for us yet again! Live and learn. :)

Aside from the strange rash that I developed after consuming the ahi tuna fish taco and the sticky feeling in the back of my throat from drinking their extremely thick (rich?) horchata, this place is not too bad!

It was 8:30 at night and we had an insatiable craving for horchata.  After Yelping around, we found Orale Fish Tacos.  Originally we were just going to get the horchata and leave... but how could we resist the fish tacos?  The service is friendly, and they give you a basket of crispy chips and salsa (the salsa tasted a bit Italian... with a hint of pizza sauce, strange, but not bad!).

We ordered a Chilean sea bass taco and an ahi tuna taco.  The tacos are standard sized, nothing over the top.  The sea bass taco was really, really good.  The fish was fresh and soft, and seasoned just right.  I loved their fresh veggies and guacamole, and it was very juicy.

The ahi tuna taco was... not... so... great...  The fish was chunky and dry, and the amount of fish in both tacos were on the skimpy side.  Did I mention a strange rash earlier?  I am not saying the taco is the contributing factor to my rash, but my body is quite sensitive to the seafood quality.

I might have just tried the wrong things, and it was pretty late at night, which explained the bottom-of-the-barrel horchata that I had to water down twice before I could drink it and it was still very sweet.  I would not oppose to returning and trying out different things... but that's if I drive by again and develop a insatiable craving for horchata.

    We loved it!

I ordered the chicken super quesadilla.. delicious.  Tons of chicken and the tortilla was buttery and crisp. Yum!  B went with a pair of chicken tacos, and while they were more "plain" without the sour cream and on corn tortillas, they were delicious also.  The chips and salsa were notable too... something about the salsa made it taste different than any other I've ever had.  Pretty spicy but good.  And nice thick chips to go along with it.

The place is cute too.  We sat outside and B commented on how it reminded him of little outdoor eating areas in Hungary.

    We'll definitely be back!

i was hungry..and was actually on my way to psycho donuts for my sucrosey fixinss....but instead checked this place out on a flash of a whim after glancing the breakfast burrito sign on the outside.

i was suddenly craving a breakfasty buritto type food..something i haven't had in a while.

so i ordered a machaca burrito.
6 mins later. i get this hot chubby mass of goodness

this is beefy, cheesy, scrambly fun
it consists of traditional spanish shredded beef, cheese, scrambled eggs, and homestyle potatoes with a nice crisp exterior...i added habanero sauce (both green n red) to this mix and this was a nice lil spicy breakfast. delicioso!

will come back again to try  the fish tacos.i saw they had the special two breaded cod taco special with rice, drink etc.  but will try next time.

Bonus: They have an lcd tv that had espn channel on for the Baltimore vs Steelers highlights.  That kept me entertained while waiting. !hollee tamales hot stuff!

*update - tried the fish tacos and they are really good. i tried the breaded halibut and chilean sea bass.  my fav was the sea bass..it was tender and tasted fresh.  the cabbage, green sauce, and everything else all went well together.

This is allegedly one of the better fish-taquerias in the area, but that isn't saying much really. Ate dinner here with one of my taqueria strumpets and we ordered a wide variety of the tacos, expecting to be impressed by some if not most based upon reviews.

    We were not.

I'll say again - after reading all the great reviews - we were both underwhelmed. I guess we need to go back and try this again.

We did not try anything but the tacos, and we tried most of the tacos. None of them stood out. The good news is I was so jaded by the tacos that it made the girl I was with that night look stunning after less than 5 drinks. So, I put a score in the Win column but not high on my return-to list.

Let's be honest: I can eat average food and hook up with a moderately hot chick pretty much anywhere, even in Kansas. Though I don't recommend eating Fish Tacos anywhere in Kansas besides Rudy's between the Plaza and Westport in Kansas City. And those are only good because they are so heavily battered and fried you really can't tell what's inside them. Which is an analogy for the women there too.

I usually get the halibut burrito and it's good

Last time I was there they were out of halibut I had the Ahi tuna which was really salty.. Will not be orating that again.

Several reasons why I didn't give this place 5 stars:

    1) when I order my burrito I ask for certain things to be left out or less of some ingredient but it seems like there's some sort of miscommunication every time! .. sometimes they leave things out that i want and add things that i do not want .. or give me a little bit of both rice and beans when i want only a little bit of beans and no rice... its really annoying that i need to inspect my burrito before i eat it to make sure everything is there

    2) The staff is clueless about the food they are serving. I asked where and how often they get their fish the girl working the register did not know the answer. How could you not know when your fish comes in?
The lack of knowledge on the fish makes me question the rest of the food that is being served and the freshness of it.

Came here for the first time last Tuesday and got two fish tacos (taco tuesdays) and a carnitas street taco. Everything was delicious and carnitas were done perfectly. Came back again on Friday of the same week with some Co-workers and Orale has become an approved "repeat" restaurant.

The fact you can choose the type of fish you want in the tacos really sets this apart from any other fish taco place out there. I got the sea bass the second time around and loved it. You can really taste the flavor and textures of the different fish. There was a long line when we went but the food came out pretty quickly.

I would go here when it was a place called "Ricardos"...at that time, there were a variety of food that was very cheap (economic downturn a couple of years ago meant value for your pesos): guacamole, taco salad, chicken salad, menudo, french fries, nachos, pico de gallo, carne asada, mexican rice, chicken fajitas, refried beans, onion rings, horchata, huevos rancheros,  and milkshake. That was then.

Orale's  menu is even more extensive and has a wider variety than Ricardo's.  Try some of the fish tacos; then the snapper; or their breaded halibut taco.

El alimento aquí es auténtico, con un ambiente mexicano auténtico. El alimento es saboroso y no costar un ojo de la cara. No hay mal que por bien no venga, y en este restaurante es los platos sabrosos.

Forget the colonel across the street.
    ¡Venga y coma aquí!!

I came here for lunch with co-workers because supposedly these are the best fish tacos ever. I had two tilapia tacos and wasn't too impressed. The fish had a strong fishy taste and not much else. I ate one and gave away the other.

My co-workers all seemed to enjoy their meal though, so it might have been just the tilapia. I might try this place again if I'm in the area.

I decided to go with 2 Carnitas taco ($2.5 each), which had pico de gallo, cabbage, tomatillo sauce, and avocado sauce.  We were given complimentary chips and salsa while we waited for our meals.  The chips was really fresh, hot, and crispy.  I really loved dipping the chips in the homemade salsa, too.

My tacos came out within 5 minutes.  The portion was decent for only $2.5 each.  There was plenty of carnitas in the taco, too.  It was different for me to have cabbage inside, but it tasted great.  I loved the crunch from the cabbage with each bite.  There was definitely a lot of sauce, so my taco was dripping while I ate it..lol.

Overall, I'd come back to try other things.  Service was great, too!

    Chilean sea bass chimichanga?
    Yes sir.
A pleasant variety of fish offered in a tasty variety of (usually fried) packages. Quality salsas and sauces, and the chips are beautifully thick.
Lately, some dishes have seen more beans and less fish, and the beer isn't always cold. But fish chimichangas will always keep me coming back.

I am not a huge fan of fish tacos because with all the condiments I have trouble tasting the fish.
The sampler I ordered was very good but all I could really taste was the guacamole sauce and the hot sauce.
Maybe the selection was just to healthy for me and I want the deep fried battered fish of the true street tacos in Mexico.
But it is really nice to not have to cross the border into Juarez to get some good tacos.
I will have to go back for some more carne and pollo items.

We went here the other night to take advantage of their 2-for-Taco-Tuesday. My partner in crime got the tilapia tacos and I ordered the shrimp chimichanga.

The chimichanga was huge (compared to what I'm used to - I guess my friend's mom makes mini-ones) and had a decent amount of shrimp inside; tons of guacamole & salsa outside. P.I.C. enjoyed his tacos - they had a chipotle-style sauce on them and were fried well. Definitely glad he did the 2fer deal - $3 per taco (they're palm-sized) makes sense for some of the other fish choices like halibut, but since he ordered the tilapia it seemed a bit steep.

One bummer: I wasn't incredibly hungry, so I only ate a little of the chimichanga that night & saved the rest for lunch the next day. I don't know if it didn't keep well or maybe my stomach just wasn't ready for something so rich, but after I had lunch I had the WORST stomach cramps that didn't go away for about two hours :(

Still, the food was yummy enough that I'm willing to blame the tummy troubles on too much coffee and give Orale another try.

Tacos are stuffed, good quality, and overflowing. I really like adding a little Tapatio and lime to mine.

Two big flatscreens too for your viewing pleasure.

I like the atmosphere too. BIG windows and so there is a lot of light in there. Sure, the view isnt great (Winchester Blvd), but just getting so much light in a restaurant is a rarity.

I ate lunch here with a group from work in late June.  The decor is okay, rather diner like.  Parking was fine. It's a Pepsi-co establishment and not a Coca-Cola place.

    Why 5 stars, then?

Carnitas, carnitas, carnitas.  The carnitas plate was perfection at about $10.  The meat was evenly shredded, somewhat crispy on the ends and tender in the middle, tasty and decadent -- just like carnitas should be.

The refried bean had a modicum of melted cheese and even the rice was tasty.

My colleagues seemed to enjoy their fish tacos as well, but said (like many reviewers) they wish they had ordered the tacos with out the sauce so they could taste the fish better.

Even though the name says fish tacos, when I go again, I'll order carnitas.

I am a big fan of fish tacos and still searching for place that serves them the way i like it (the ones I found in Baja, Mexico).   NIce owners and staff so I'm giving 3 stars.
