The cutest, most unique and well made clothes in my closet are all from Opening Ceremony. Yes you can find a several hundred dollar shirt, but you could also find one upstairs for 60. But who cares if you spend 400 on a romper, because you will get endless compliments on it and stand out!!

Sale twice a year, if the retail price is too hefty.

On the staff: incredibly helpful, attentive, fun, aand not too bad to look at either.
Location: I hear that this unique, what seems to be a twostory house, actually used to be Charlie Chaplin's old dance studio. the BEES KNEES right there.
Easy to find street parking.
To find store: LOOK OUT FOR WHITE BUILDING ACROSS STREET FROM NORMS about a block or two north of beverly center.

MY FAVORITE STORE IN LOS ANGELES GRINNNN

If you like high-end fashion, Opening Ceremony is the place to be.  I only window shop or get ideas from this place. I feel poor every time I visit.  I just can't swallow paying $400 for a t-shirt. The selection of clothing in this place is intense. I usually spend a good 30 minutes just rummaging through the Nom De Guerre section upstairs.

My girl bought a skirt from OC and the sales guy put the wrong size in the bag. Came back the next day and her size was gone. Since no returns, we are now stuck with a "phat" gift receipt that is just sitting in her wallet. I had to knock off one star for that.

If you're ready to look fab and blow some serious cash, Opening Ceremony is the store for you. It's always a nice spot to just lurk, see what hipsters are wearing, and possibly get lost in all the confusing rooms at this store.

A boutique after my own heart.

I totally love the shop-within-shop approach that has taken off recently, and Opening Ceremony has raised the bar of the high-end fashion experience. Forget the snobby, quiet, melancholy vibe of other shops that carry pieces of the same price point -- I mean, designer clothing is already expensive, why isolate the items even further by making customers feel awkward? You all know what I'm talking about.

But not here. At Opening Ceremony, there's music, unique garments, interesting displays, and ... candy! Last time I was there, I visited the cute Hello Kitty corner with loads of candy, stickers, keychains, and other accessories that brought me back to grade school.

What's more: they change up the store every so often, so the section you visited last week will likely look entirely different the next time you stop by. Some sections are hosted by complete brands (a few months ago it was Alexander Wang), making you fall in love with an up-and-coming, fresh new talent, which OC handpicks so well. Threads and gear from the likes of said sexy-simplistic aficionado A. Wang, Vena Cava, Band of Outsiders, Rodarte, Rachel Comey, and Opening Ceremony's namesake brand (which I love).

To sum it up, OC has put true thought into their concept. It's all meant to drive the customer to a happy place - not scare them away - which results in a customer feeling comfortable enough to purchase a high-end item without regret.

Do NOT get me started on their shoe section. No words. It's too perfect.

If you want high quality designerwear sans the power trip, get your ass over to Opening Ceremony today.

I'm glad I did not stumble into Opening Ceremony any earlier than I did the past weekend. This is for my bank account's sake.

The store is a tad difficult to find, but now that I've found it, I might "drop by" more often... especially if I'm at the Beverly Center and bored out of my mind...

Opening Ceremony is my second favorite store in Los Angeles, the first obviously being Maxfield, my third being Decadestwo. For me to deem a store one of my favorites, the merchandise selection has to be very unique, appealing and appropriately-priced. Save for the Rodarte and Proenza Schouler pieces, I could purchase from Opening Ceremony and not have to wait for the sales (though the sale was great too). On many of the items, I did not feel they were "overpriced", a $350 skirt LOOKED $350 (or more), and the fit/construction was well worth the price tag.

I ended up grabbing 15+ pieces to try in the dressing room (the laid-back salespeople didn't seem to care), but ended up only going with one pair of pants. The salesgirl, as she rang my order, asked me if I had gone upstairs. What? Upstairs? Are you telling me that heaven's boutique has a second floor? Goodness gracious.

Upstairs was distinctly different from downstairs; each "room" housed a different designer's wares. You could find rarities and imports in one room--Topshop/Topman, Erin Wasson x RVCA, the entire Acne line.... I spent a lot of time in the Alexander Wang room.

I was with my friend who didn't understand most of the merchandise, and I already felt rude having made her watch me change into numerous outfits, so I just called it a night without having the chance to scope out the mens' merchandise. Next time! There will most definitely be a next time....

My friend mentioned that most people only buy accessories here (there weren't that many anyways.... notably, Comme des Garcon wallets... some jewelry... a couple of shoes....), and all of the general merchandise (clothing included) is not eye-popping, cornea-crushing over-designed forms of fabric. The styles are simple, but something about them is special, whether it be the length of the armhole, or the stitching along the center front of a tank dress.

If you're willing to spend a couple $$$ on some great quality clothing, Opening Ceremony should be at the top of the destinations you aim to hit in Los Angeles.

Now, if you have $$$$ to spend, I would gladly accompany you to Maxfield.

When I get that Full Time high paying job I've been aching for, Opening Ceremony will be my first stop when I can actually spend some hard-earned money on some good quality fashion.

It's like a house, or like Charlie Chaplin's old dance studio. Inside, like a house, many different rooms, and TWO STORIES! Every room brings forth the possibility of a great new discovery. The $800 skirts looks like $800 skirts, and the $90 Alexander Wang basics are very much worth their price tag. The sale room lacks signage, but after a few glances at the markdowns, they do not spare any percentage points for themselves. I saw a great Proenza dress marked down more than 50% off!

It's basically fashion heaven under one roof. And the Sales Associates/Dressing Room Attendants are NICE!!! I died and went to fashion heaven at OC. The SAs are the angels.

The coolest boutique in LA, because:

They carry these brands: Alexander Wang, Band of Outsiders, Mayle (although it is no more), the Erin Wasson x RVCA collaboration, Proenza Schouler, the Opening Ceremony private label, which is so rad.

Multiple rooms and two stories of amazing stuff you will obsess over and go broke for.

Quirky merchandising displays like a room made out of LEGOs and a Hello Kitty playhouse complete with Sanrio stationery for sale.

The people that work here are actually nice.  None of those "Pretty Woman"-type salespeople ("How much is it Marie? It's *very* expensive").  They dress cute too.  Of course.

WOW.  With a capital double u, oh, double u.  This is clearly one of the best store LA has to offer.  From the array of labels they stock to the layout/architecture of the store, Opening Ceremony takes the cake.

Even if you don't like what they sell, the store itself is an experience.  I was tripping out whenever I got into a new room!  My friend and I were waltzing through the store, giggling like a couple of school girls (and we are the manliest men, ever).  But if you are reading this review, you will like with they sell.  From Band of Outsiders to Nom de Guerre, Acne to their house label, these guys have their stuff on lock.  I mean, they even carry Lad Musician!  Dare I say *gasp* the West Coast's Colette (Paris)?  Well, maybe not, but we're getting closer.

Every sales associate was extremely helpful and knowledgeable.  They were not too pushy and let us do our own thing, but was always available to answer any question we had - how service SHOULD be done.

I am terrified to see the Opening Ceremony store in NYC because people are telling me that it is better.  I fear that if I go in, I will never come out.

This is most likely the best place to shop for high-end yet still hipster fashion in Los Angeles, and is one of my favorite place to hang out just to review the fashion trends. The store is like a mansion, which makes you feel at home when you shop there, or more likely, in the case of extremely picky fashionistas, you WANT it to be your house. :)

honestly prefer the LA opening ceremony over new york's.  little rooms and the fact that it was chaplin's old dance studio make it more special.  staff is friendly, non-stuffy, and laid back.

love their novelty section, they usually have some beautiful design media.

fashion selection inside is as "LA appropriate" while still being as edgy as you can get...their buyers obviously know what's up...

My friend is a big clothing and fashion guy and he told me a little while back that one of his favorite stores, Opening Ceremony, had opened a branch in Los Angeles.

Never shy of hitting the high-power stuff when I need some new clothes, I checked it out, taking advantage of a rare low-key weekend afternoon.

The store is pretty small and the space is packed to the gills with clothing on tightly-smashed racks and hangers.

They were having a sale on some of the men's stuff, so being the cheapskate I am, I bee-lined for the sale rack.  I was actually able to pick out a cool casual blazer and a pair of pants that were marked down significantly ... woo hoo, score!

The salespeople were nice and I never got the feeling they had better things to do than help me (like watch flowers die or do their pilates routines in their heads); they helped me pick out stuff and were friendly.

They also have a cool section of books and other knickknacks that I checked out but my earthling sensibilities couldn't really make sense of the super-artsy photography and artwork books.

All-in-all, a cool store with some interesting clothing (none of it was boring, I can tell you that).  It's the place to go to if you want something "edgy" or "fashion-forward" without having to deal with the pretentiousness that one must endure at other stores.

Big props to not having to count backwards from ten before you REALLY do something crazy ...

finding opening ceremony was a challenging experience at first but once i found it and walked through a long alley surrounded by trees and old white benches i knew i was up for something new. the store inside is designed like a semi-maze. it's divided into about 12 showrooms on 2 storeys, each one carrying different designers. you can find so many original and different clothes and accessories, for both les femmes and les hommes.

my favorite discoveries were the kate moss collection for top shop and chloe sevigny for opening ceremony.

the store is expensive, but they have good sales. the staff is very friendly. they'll help you with your size and compliment you on the clothes you try on. they'll even put you on their mailing list and send you emails about new deliveries of your favorite designers :)

the only thing that this store is missing (comparing to the NYC boutique) are all the flowers!!

This has got to be one of the better retail experiences this year.
Low key & "insider" with the best logos on the non store-front.
The salespeople are laid back but helpful and they had the Stones rocking the speakers.
Best part were the men's brands like Nom De Guerre & Cloak -

One of my favorite clothing boutiques!
So I might be an idiot, but I always come here for the Topman t-shirts and outerwear. I know I'm paying double but they're nicely designed, comfortable and its probably the only place I know that carries it in the US. They have a nice selection of shoes and boots, and not to mention the art books/catalogs.

They also carry my friends menswear line Fremont!

One of the best stores in LA. They carry Acne, Band of Outsiders, Cloak, Kim Jones, Bernhard Willhelm, Cheap Monday, Swear, and tons more. Their house brand makes some great shoes and the prices on most of the store are somewhat reasonable.

Opening Ceremony is a breath of fresh air in the hellhole that is the LA 'fashion' scene. The only downside is the crappy parking situation around the store.

They do carry Topshop for men and women here, but if you buy it, you are an idiot. Hmm........15 GBP t-shirt (notoriously poor quality mind you) marked up to $31 due to the exchange rate, $5 cost/import tax to get the item to the US, add in Opening Ceremony's cut of the profits, and the price is around $60.

More underground labels and edgey-er clothes. The inhouse brand is a great deal and very fashion forward.

Always amazing and always full of gorgeous, interesting clothes that you will want to sell your left lung for. The entrance is tucked away in a court yard and the space is light and airy and winds like a maze. The men's selection is particularly impressive and full of interesting things from the store's own label and others like Patrik Ervell, Nakkna, Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair and tons more. Women's  stuff is amazing as well. The staff is super nice and helpful. I think the New York store has a little bit more interesting stock but the LA store has such a nice vibe.

This place is phenomenal! The coolest clothing bouique I've visited in Los Angeles. The building design was unique and a little confusing at first, but very cool. It was fun walking around and exploring all of the different rooms for the first time. The designers they carry are great, and all of the staff that we spoke with were very nice. The number of staff that they had was perfect. Just enough to help me find my way around the store for the first time. I found a few shirts that I wanted, and my friend bought an AMAZING dress. Both the men's and women's selection were excellent for a boutique this size.

The comparatively large space has led to some filler, but also to a wide range of brands. The genial staff will ask to take the things you're carrying to a dressing room or the counter (for non-clothing items), so your hands will be free to take more clothing off the racks. I still don't know how all the clothes get to the same dressing room.

What really stood out for me was their photo book section. Who knew?

Its one of the most amazing stores in LA. You can find cool underground designers that no other stores sell. Another cool thing is they sell TOPSHOP and TOPMAN. OC is the only store apart from there store in NYC that carries the cheap and chic British Label! If your at Beverly Center, its not a long walk. You should come check it out. Be sure to visit upstairs thats where they have a "mini mall"

i generally never buy designer threads anymore cuz basically im a cheap ass chinaman. i've got this dries van noten jacket that i've probably worn a thousand times since 1999, its so threadbare its beginning to look like comme des garcons.

well i couldnt resist their big sale so i took a look. at the risk of sounding gay, i bought a pair of cloak shorts, a cloak shirt and a pair of bea szenfeld trousers... after going to vegas this past weekend, i realize that i will will wear these pants every time i ever go to a strip club cuz the cotton is so fine... they are like the lambskins or ultrathins of pants. so i guess this pleasant discovery makes the steep price worth it.

if i were rich and didnt have a mortgage i'd be shopping here more often. when they first opened, i bought my girlfriend at the time a pair of 300 dollar shorts which i still feel like an asshole for doing. XXXX, i know youre reading this!

i've been to the new york store too which is also really nice, but im just not THAT into fashion to drop benjamins like they were jeffersons.

My friend scott and I went to Opening Ceremony. OMG!!!! This place is the most amazing store ever. the entrance is small and discreet. We walked in and it was heaven. Two floors and over 6 rooms of fashion heaven. Everything here is divine. Each room has different lines of underground and designer labels. There were many more rooms upstairs, but unfortunately we got there at 6:30om when they closed at 7pm, so I only got to quickly browse the rest of the store. But, i did notice that there was a section for Topshop up there. I ended up with a dress by White trumpet. It is the ultimate black cocktail dress. The cut is mod shift style with triangular cutouts fastened by little mirrored squares. The best thing about Opening Ceremony is that the clothing is high end designer quality, but kind of, sort of, moderately priced, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful even though we were there at closing time.
