Opah Restaurant & Bar - CLOSED
10 reviews for Opah Restaurant & Bar
Good food but seems like its all Cougar's and divorcees in the joint. If your a divorce lawyer or a young guy looking to experience the older housewife crowd this is the place for you!
I'd give it 4 stars for the food but it looses one for being a bit houwty touwty.

Opah the restaurant is good. The people that go to it ...not so much.
Opah in RSM has gorgeous decor and people flock to it. It is not nice how the tables are so close together; you will feel like you went to dinner with complete strangers.
If you're looking for a classy, quite, romantic place don't bother with Opah. The middle aged divorcees looking for a sugar daddy who guard the front door with their high pitched drunken squeals and belligerent dancing moves will make you sick to your stomach. But if you're already there get a key lime martini and you'll quickly care less.
Aside from the gross patrons the service is excellent. The servers and managers are really sweet and they warm your heart. If you have any problems with anything they quickly take care of it and they are just so nice about it.
.
My tip is: Dress to show off your assets. With the amount of bleach and plastic in that establishment you have to be able to hold your own.

It's unfortunate that I never got the chance to taste the food here. So why am I reviewing this place and giving such a low rating, you asked? Because during the first (and yes it will be the last) time I visited Opah, the service was excruciatingly god awful. We left before ordering.
I made reservations at 7:30 for my mom's birthday dinner. We arrived at 7:15 and found that the restaurant was packed. Good thing I made reservations right? Wrong! We waited until 7:45 and were then told that they "accidentally" gave away our table. "If you want to wait for another table," they said "the next one won't open for another 30 minutes."
At this point, I was livid pissed. What is the point of making reservations then if the restaurant is just going to "accidentally" give it away? But I tried the new breathing exercises from yoga and we continued to wait. Another 45 minutes flew by yet still no word on this "next table" and meanwhile I was getting brushed off. When I finally got the hostess' attention, I expressed my dissatisfaction and asked for the manager only to be told that he was busy in the back. The consolation prize was to sit at the bar and complain to the lead bartender. OK?!? Yes, please drown my anger in more gin as we celebrate my mom's birthday around the bar. At this point, I had enough. We left ... pissed, hungry, and pissed.
It's a shame that I'll never come back to test out their supposedly kicking seafood and fries.

Try the Sweet Potato Appetizer. Unique and tasty. Food is always good if maybe a little expensive. Ambience is top notch with a nice fireplace outside. Service is good, if maybe a little bit slow sometimes. We take out of town visitors here to see all the Mercedes and Beemer's parked outside. Overall I like and recommend Opah.

I live just 5 minutes away from this OC gem, and OPAH has a really friendly neighborhood atmosphere. The service was up to par and the service is like a high-end restaurant but with reasonable prices.
Since I'm on my pre meditated diet plan of only eating salad; the salad and appetizer are my favorite so far here. I agree with Yelper Li-Jay C that the garlic fries are one of the items to boast about. However before the salad diet I have tried several items. My suggestion for non-dieters is to please try the New Zealand Mussels and Manila Clams in an aromatic garlic leek tomato herb broth, and for some reason my salad of choice is the house salad with a request of papayas shreds- If that's not in your palate, don't stop there. They really have an appetizing selection.
For dessert, I am a Gelato-Sorbet fan, and the sorbets have a feel of handmade in house, so it is really a refresher after a meal. I did not go wrong with this place, and the staff is always there when you need something, and they don't stop at that, they will come up to you if they see you're face unsatisfied. So yes you can say, I'll be here until this place shuts down.

Of the three Opah locations, this one seems to be the least busy, and it's bigger than the original Aliso Viejo location (total meat market!). I find Opah to be pricey, especially if you want to have appetizers and drinks with your entree.
Instead of eating in the dinning room, I like to come here and eat at the bar. I've come here a few times with my girlfriends, and the bar always has available seats. We order some martinis, I like the citrus one the best, and share a bunch of appetizers. The sweet potato chips are amazing, and I also like both ahi appetizers and the crab cakes. Ask for a baguette and butter, and you've got yourself a really good meal for a decent price. Some nights they have live bands in the bar area, so you've got free entertainment, too!
Opah is good. I find the food a bit expensive for the value, but it's still good eats. The place is decorated well and it's very lively. The people there are a little off. Kinda like south OC desperate housewives.
This restaurant has gone downhill. It was decent two years ago but the quality of the food and service has dramatically declined.
During my last two experiences I found the steak to be tough and drowned in mediocre sauce. Staff was inattentive for these prices.
Overall I find this restaurant, the food, and the staff to be way too cool for itself. This place fancies itself high-end but this place would fail anywhere but the foodie wasteland that is South OC.

OMG! They have the best Fish and Chips I have ever tasted. I was visiting the restaurant for work and thought I would have lunch. I ordered what the bar manager said everyone orders...let me tell you...The fries are the best I've ever had and usually I hate fries. They make their fries garlic fries. Also, the fish tasted so fresh. Service was great and the staff was wonderful too......I really have been meaning to go back and have lunch there again.

Okay so they are expensive and over crowded with some of Coto de Caza's finest but I can't help it. I dream about the seared scallops with mushroom risotto! The food is very well prepared and seasonal which I love. Their martinis are also really good and I always have a hard time deciding which one to get. Oh how I wish one would roll up to Bay Area so I wouldn't so wracked with longing. *sigh*
