Coffee is fine.  Baristas are pleasant, (even though I dated one of them a while back, and let's just say... it did NOT end well.) They remember my drink almost every time, but some days it tastes like spit.  I work one block away, so I'm here 3 or 4 times a week.
Probably not the most regular customer they've got, but regular enough so that they let me write my own bio and post it up on the espresso machine with all the other baristas' bios.
The cheesecake is also good.

EDIT: I would also like to add that when ever I drink someone else's coffee, it NEVER tastes like spit.  Weird.

I feel it's necessary to update my review since I've stopped making my own coffee and now rely on the Online for my weekend mochas.

they've had a fairly consistent staff working here for some time now and some of them are even starting to remember my coffee drink!  iced soy mochas - they work just fine.

also, their ham and cheddar croissants are a nice little breakfast when I don't want to cook.  okay every weekend morning!

I still feel that the customer service could improve and they are SUPER slow making your coffee, but since they're now my regular weekend place, I can't complain!

Being new to town, I just wandered down Pine until I found a coffee shop, and here we are. I ordered two cappuccinos and a cinnamon bun, both of which were pretty good (the guy in front of me got the last chocolate croissant, agh!).

It was great to just work on some stuff on the macbook. There's tons of seating, music is pretty quiet and there's sufficient lighting. I wouldn't consider hanging out here, it's definitely more of a "I need to work but don't want to stay at home to do it" sort of place.

I love chai lattes in all shapes and forms, but I couldn't appreciate the one I had here. The foam was much too thick. I would have needed a spoon to scoop it up in order to consume it.
I did have a sweet fish-shaped sugar cookie though (:

Online Coffee Co definitely isn't my go-to spot for a cup of coffee--however, my computer recently crashed and most of the time, I need to finish a paper that I put off until 10 o clock the night before its due. Fortunately, I live about 2 blocks away from Online Coffee, so they've been a lifesaver on many occasion. However, it's EXPENSIVE. When you buy a drink, you can get an hour of internet time for a dollar, but after that it's 0.14 cents A MINUTE. I ended up spending 15 dollars on a little under two hours of computer time, a soy latte and a cup of green tea. Jeez louise.
However, the baristas are nice and the coffee is good. Atmosphere is a little blah, but they have a lot of large tables that make for good work spaces. I procrastinate enough and am easily distracted when I do homework at home, so in no time I'm sure that Online Coffee Co will be seeing a lot of me... computer prices be damned.

One star for not killing me, one star for internet access.

But the espresso is along the Cherry street lines - unnecessarily bitter and burnt. All of the pastries leave me around a B- in terms of satisfaction, like I'd just had a cookie and was expecting another one to fill me up, but between cookies I'd dropped it into a bucket of bleach and couldn't eat it anymore.

Sitting here, writing, I'm trying desperately to think of who I'd recommend Online to for coffee. Sure, if you need to use internet, then go nuts. But if I was trying to convert someone from corporate coffee, I'd send them elsewhere. And if someone was already drinking decent coffee, I'd tell them to stay away.

I guess I recommend it people who are physically already in Online Coffee.

I kind of dissed this place in my review of Porchlight Coffee by saying I preferred smaller and more homey spaces to crowded coffee caverns that sell alchohol and quiche along with coffee. I stand by that statement because I do prefer Zach's shop to the too-large Online Coffee Company. But regardless of size or wares, I can't find it in myself to hate this place.

The coffee and pastries may be lacking in flavor (except for the oatmeal raisin cookies - those are totally bomb and totally from an outside vendor), but the service I get at the Online Coffee Company is just fabulous. The girls who work the counter are very friendly and very, very generous, always willing to extend a hand to my broke ass by giving me free/cheap refills hours after the first purchase was made and charging me less than full price when I'm counting out pennies for a cuppa. The coffee is not the best, but the kind-hearted baristas keep me coming back for a drip when times are tough. Thanks for all your help, ladies. I hope I didn't get any of you in trouble by posting this.

I've always gone to the other location on Olive Way, but I must say, I much prefer this space. I like the high ceilings and all the windows; At the other one there isn't much light at all. I needs my Vitamin D!
The baristas are friendly enough and thanks to the stupid recession, I only get drip nowadays and this stuff definitely does the job!
I also like the little vintage roaster thing they have set up. Do y'all use that? It's cool!
I shall now come here for my internetting needs. I hadn't found a place on First Hill (my hood) that I'd like to hang out at but the bus takes me right here. So, thanks for being alive, dudes!

A good place if you have a laptop and need to work for a few hours. You just order the bottomless drip coffee and you're off. From that perspective it really works for my purposes, and the opening hours are great.

I wish that the drip coffee was better, and that they had a better selection in the display case. They might even benefit from significantly smaller display case, since the times I've been there, whatever is sitting inside looks a bit lonely. The cakes also don't look as good as other places, and if you're hungry they have very little food to eat.

I wouldn't make a bee-line to go to Online Coffee, but it's not bad.

It's a nice large space with lots of tables and chairs. However, why do customers have to pay for wi-fi?? Every coffee place has free wireless. And the prices here at Online Coffee Company are very high. It's a convenient location, but it would be nicer if they offered complimentary wi-fi.

when i come here i'm on a mission: to study. u'll usually find groups of people studying at this coffee shop cuz they do have a lot of tables. they also have a lot of electrical outlets for laptops.
they also have an area to pay to use the computers and printer.

they have a large menu of coffee and non-coffee, and even beer.

i also much appreciate they have about 3+ bathrooms for the ladies. and they close at midnight, great for the night owls.

Hershey's syrup.  That's why it gets 2 stars.
I'm going to give this a similar review to anywhere else that serves Hershey's.  How can you call yourself a coffee place in Seattle and use ingredients that you'd find at a Duncan Donuts?

If not for the chocolate syrup I'd probably give it a few more stars.  The coffee is OK (not the best for all that's in Capitol Hill), the ambiance is OK (if a bit sterile), it's roomy, and it's a great place to get online to get some work done (in fact I'm writing this review on one of their computers now!)  But occasionally I'm in the mood for a mocha...
Hershey's?!?  Seriously?  That stuff is half high-fructose-corn syrup and half candle.

I can't understand how someone would buy high quality beans, make a decent roast, take the time to brew and pour a decent cup of coffee, and then add one of the cheapest brands of chocolate around?  Why not make the lattes with non-dairy creamer packets?

I'll change my rating when they change their chocolate syrup.  For non-mocha drinks, they're decent (although Vivace is by far the best).

I have been here twice because my salon is across the street.

The coffee was muddy.

The money grabber (she didn't make my coffee) was condescending and snide. All this in a 30 second transaction, really.

When my next hair appointment rolls around, instead of being lazy I will walk to the next coffee house.

I refuse to spend $4 on bad coffee and bad attitudes.

I really have nothing bad to say about THIS Online Coffee Company, sometimes they are painfully slow making drinks.
I've had the same guy forget to make my drink about 3 or 4 times.
Other than that - all the staff is great...
The Chai's are delicious...
And the sweets are to die for...love their cakey things.
I heard that Online Coffee Company fired someone for being transgendered...which is insanely fucked up.
But I think that was more the ethics of the company and not this particular shop.
The music is good, its air-conditioned.
And they don't care when I steal their internet from sitting outside. (I rarely do this...only in case of emergency...ha.)
Go there - you will most likely have zero complaints.
Oh wait, except why is it like $1 to print a piece of paper out - that's a litlte much...c'mon.

Evil Murdock and I came here one night to check the place out since my friend raves about this place all day all day.  The service was very nice.  Fast and efficient, and that was just with one barista working.  Lots of seating, there was beer and wine on the menu and foods like quiche.  The problem though, is a couple of things
A: My quiche was reheated but still cold in the middle.  Ick
B: Everyone there is hooked to a computer or a laptop.  What happened?  When did we lose touch with each other and plug in?  It's like a Phillip K Dick nightmare.
I guess with everyone so glued to their screen, it doesn't matter that the place is cold and sterile.  I wasn't a huge fan but am willing to try it again.  Evil Murdoch loved the place and thought it was Heaven... But what does she know, she's my younger brother's imaginary friend.

I am a fan of getting a great cup of coffee and doing some web browsing just as much as the next person. But I like the internet to be an after thought, something in addition, not a given part of the experience. I went in here to grab a quick cup of coffee and was shaken a little bit. Sure the name should have given it away but this place really is about coffee WITH computer. I ordered a coffee and she expected that I wanted to use the internet too. There is something somewhat disturbing about the two having to be together. Maybe that is just me. Also, the atmosphere itself was not laid back, which is how I like my coffee shop to be.

I was recommended as this was the place to go to get work done and be able to focus.

I am here now, and unfortunately this is not the case. There is no music playing, and there is so many people talking with nothing to absorb the sound that it feels like I'm in a high school cafeteria. It's hard to ignore all of the noise around me. Much noiser then the other cafe's I frequent.

The coffee is unremarkable, but good. The staff quite friendly. The layout of the place looks nice.

blah.

update: I've been here a few hours and this place is finally better now that it's gotten quieter.

This place is one of the best coffee places for geeks. Today 5 of us congregated here to hack on our favorite open source project (http://www.sagemath.org). We've tried several places and this one by far has the best connectivity and lowest prices on coffee. They even have unlimited refills on drip, which is amazing when you are coding for 8 hours straight. Also, since it's located somewhat close to Broadway, you have an amazing choice for food close by.
I like this place so much that I actually BIKE there from the U-District. :-)

I find myself on capitol hill with a few hours to kill. I've driven by this place a number of times, and as I am always on the lookout for new coffeeshops, I knew it was only a matter of time before I stopped in.

It's a big space, lots of tables and being an "Internet Cafe" there are a dozen or so stations, two computers to a table, for customers to use. The first half hour of online time is free with the purchase of a drink, and 13 cents a minute thereafter. Lucky for me, laptop always in tote, there are plenty of tables without computers, and free WiFi. Lovely.

If I lived in the area and didn't have my own computer I would be all over this place. Definitely a good spot to get some work done and the coffee is great too. They claim the coffee is ground at the time of order and each drink is made with a double shot of espresso for "full flavor without bitterness." Tastes pretty good to me.

Rare to see an internet cafe these days, but this place pulls it off pretty nicely.

I frequent this place a lot.  I like the feel of people getting things done; if I wanted to read a book, I might go elsewhere.  It is useful that you can chill in the table/couch zone or use the desks/computers...also you can print and fax...like a little cubicle away from home.  Large and clean bathrooms mean you are not tapping your foot/crossing your legs while waiting for the dingy unisex closet like some places.

The coffee has always been affordable, strong, and delicious.  My only issue is that sun coming in the ample windows makes the couch/table zone warm and overly bright in the afternoons.

Sunday morning- I need coffee and bagel.  My usual neighborhood wi-fi and bagel hook-up is closed on Sundays, but Online is open 7am-midnight EVERY day.  I am writing this review from my laptop, cruising the ample bandwidth here, and I am pleased.  My bagel was good, and fairly priced at $1.33 toasted with cream cheese, and the coffee was fine, again very fair with FREE refills.  Friendly efficient service.  Parking can be difficult. Beer and wine too.
I am going to add now that I've been back to Online 4 times in the last 3 days (yes thats 5 times in 4 days). I'm an addict!  Another mentionable is the  attractive female staff (that's not why i keep going there, is it?).

My main coffee hang out used to be the Victgrola on 15th. I spent an entire summer there as a base of operations while hunting for a job after being laid off. But the place has paled in my eyes over the years. A little to sceney, too crowded and slow baristas.

The online Coffee Company has become my new hang out. It's a little dark, and maybe a little too barney but they have plenty of tables, lots of very comfy, cushy chairs and good coffee. And they have beer ans wine which is a major plus after I get done working on Sunday afternoons.

Another really great thing about this place is they get that people like their laptops and they lots and lots and lots of plugs in convenient locations so you don't have to spend your time bent underneath other peoples' tables.

It's conveniently located, which may be why I frequent it often. The coffee isn't memorable, and i generally stop wanting to drink it before I'm done with the cup.

It is a good place to work tho if you have sound-isolating headphones to block out the ambient noises. Another plus: the staff is very friendly.

As a group the meets weekly we moved up here from Vivace due to troubles with the roasting room space. I've heard the coffee is much much better at vivace, I'm not from these parts so I couldn't tell the differences.

Big pluses though, first the space. This location is huge, which makes it awesome for meetings. We'd always move a few tables together and take over, provided we made it there around 6 or 7pm and could call the tables before others showed up. Also, having beer is spectacular in a meeting space, particularly when meeting after work.

Plenty of outlets for the individual, but bring a strip if you've got a group with lots of laptops and such. Free wifi with purchase, or some deal to rent computers if you want.

Positives - the space is big and open, with an interesting industrial exposed pipe ceiling and lots of room. Like the other online coffee company locations, they offer computers for those who need them and 30 minutes free if you buy a coffee or a tea, and tables and free wireless for the laptoppers.

Not-so-positives - the barista burned my soy latte terribly and it was barely drinkable, the music being played is atrociously vomitous 'soft rock', and the general atmosphere feels a little too Starbuckian for my tastes.

I miss the recently defunct Perkatory. This feels like a defunked version.

This is a great local coffeehouse.  The coffee isn't as good as vivace or victrola, but it's set up really well for large groups to talk with a separate area for computer users so you don't end up with the common seattle condition of having a bunch of people on computers sitting around and monopolizing all the tables.

The staff is awesome and friendly, and the wifi is fast.  I haven't tried any of the food here, but it's basic cafe stuff and my friends seem to really like the bagel service.

My new favorite place to Get Sh*t Done.  I was happy to get myself a nice cup of tea, find a table (albeit almost hard to do at 7:30pm on a weeknight), sit down and WORK.  I took a table near the counter and I swear, as distractable as I am, I didn't hear a thing. The atmosphere there is friendly, but people seem to be there to be busy (although to be fair, there was also a lovely fireplace section where people were socializing... but it was far enough away for it not to bother me).  There was free wi-fi, computers I could use for free for 30 minutes if I didn't bring my own laptop and other technological benefits like printing and faxing that I didn't need but appreciated.  I only had to circle the block once to find parking which wasn't bad, seeing as it's Capitol Hill and all.  Overall, this is a great and useful little place! :)

Free WiFi is no reason for drinking bad coffee.  There I said it.  This place is just bad all around.  The pastries seem to always be stale and the staff seems poorly trained to make coffee.  Hired for their looks I am guessing.  But the one thing that really galls me is they have the nerve to charge extra to use your Visa or ATM card--A direct violation of their Visa merchant agreement by the way.

Just a side note for your future reference regarding any transaction with your credit/debit card...Imposing minimum or maximum purchase
amounts or charging a usage fee in order to accept a credit or debit card transaction is a violation of the credit card company rules let the business know you refuse to pay it and you should always report the violation to your issuing bank.

The coffee isn't bad but it isn't great. There are a few better places here on the hill. I wondered in because I live two blocks away and I didn't feel like trameling in the snow over to Vivace or Cafe Vita. The young lady who took my order for a 12 ounce (I dislike saying tall, grande etc.) mocha was friendly and didn't seem fake. Yes they use Hershey syrup which is a let down for me. As Sven mentioned why use such a sup par product if you are going to try to use good beans? I have had lattes here and they were tasty. But back to my mocha for a sec. It was fairly tasty for what it was and it was hot which is what I was wanting on this cold snowy day. I will be back but honestly even though this local is close to me Vivace is my number one choice. Also as stated the space is big and I have done work here once before and I appreaciate that it was quiet so that myself and friend could hear each other talk and not have to compete with loud music or others that were loud. The internet is pretty speedy which is nice since one only has 30 mins of free time with a purchase of a bevie.
