good authentic filipino food and generous servings. filipino food can be pricey - but what makes it worse is when a place is stingy with their servings (ahem, goldilocks). at ongpin, the servings are sizeable and tasty.

service is usually pretty good. my fave dishes: chicharon bulaklak (the best heart clogging treat); kare kare; bbq; and bistek. they also have lechon and lechon paksiw - which i am not crazy about.

overall, a great place especially when you are craving for filipino food!

YOU MUST READ MY REVIEW!

I've been here a handful of times because my mother-in-law likes it but UGH! i just can't get over how fucking DUGYOT this place is NO JOkE man! On one occasion while waiting in the hallway to use the restroom one of the chefs came out of the men's restroom with his rubber gloves still on! AAAAH!! I wanted to barf! I've always thought the food tasted okay but after that I was freakin TURNED OFF!

Maaaan! Yeah i'm sure the food taste bomb sometimes but shit how can you let yourself eat in this dump!? That yummy flavor you're probably thinking is "so yummy" probably isn't even part of the recipie.... it's most likely whatever the chef ate the night before... if ya know what i mean! Seriously? I'm sure you all deserve better than that!

QUESTION:
How long should it take to microwave something for 3 minutes?

*clicky http://www.youtube.com... (min 2:22)

I came here for ONE reason:

... to give the beef stew soup a second chance.  When it's 54 degrees outside with high winds, I had a specific craving for a nice hot soup. I skipped going to my never disappointing Fat Wong's Kitchen or Pho Saigon. Unfortunately Ongpin JUST COULDN'T GET THIS RIGHT!

The soup came out very lukewarm. The egg noodles were still clumpy. In my opinion, Asian noodle soup broth should come out piping hot and semi-scalding at the first immediate taste. Their beef noodle soup was disappointingly cold.

We asked our indifferent server to reheat the soup in the microwave but this took close to 12 minutes for the soup to return to the table. By then we were already done with our meal because we could deconstruct and evaluate the remaining soup we had served ourselves in the individual serving bowls.

The Ongpin Beef Stew is overly sweet. There is no hint of beef broth or flavor. Since it was served cold, the soup was starting to thicken and coagulate. Lastly the beef is poor quality being too lean, overcooked, and literaly hard to eat.  (-4 STARS)

The soup came back hot but this is how it should have originally been served.  The server was indifferent and ambivalent and never asked if everything was alright. (-4 STARS)

Pluses:
+Portions are extremely generous and family style freindly
+Most dishes can serve at least 2-4 people!
+there are many many other places to chose when it comes to find impressive Filipino food and service in the Bay Area

Minuses:
-beef stew has become worse since change in ownership
-indifferent and uncaring service
-zero ambiance
-cold (temperature-wise in the restaurant) -- bring a jacket!

BIG MINUS: (-4 STARS)
--- TIP HIGHLIGHTED ON BILL:
The bill is presented on an approximately 1.5 inch by 3 inch piece of paper.  This small piece of paper does not contain a lot of information. Trust me dear highlighter, I'm able to see and read easily what the recommended tip should be WITHOUT the bloody highlighting ! ! !Ongpin must be used to getting shortchanged or outright stiffed for service, that they feel it necessary to HIGHLIGHT their recommendations on what the tip amount should be for 15% 18% and 20% of the bill amount. Service did NOT impress or deserve a 15% tip but still got it. Gotta love the entitlement mentality.

Life is too short. There are much better Filipino choices.  My review from 2007 was too generous.

Caveat Emptor.

I was so happy when the family went to Ongpin on Sunday. The BBQ pork was delish, sisig was fab, and sinegang was tasty sour!

They give you a lot of food so we definitely had leftovers.  Tonight, as I was feeding my little boy his "soup-rice", I picked out a baby bok choy from the sinegang...and lo and behold there was a fly embedded there. I was so grossed out...it doesn't take much to wash the vegetables, and mister fly in my bok choi was pretty clear evidence that it had not been done.

Maybe I'm overreacting, but man, that was a big fly.  Hella big.

I've been eating at Ongpin since I was 10 years old. And although it seems that Ongpin may be going through an identity crisis, hence the constant interior changes, one should never judge a book by it's cover. Ongpin never fails me, for it's the closest to authenticity when it comes to Filipino food. My mom, whom I consider as an amazing cook, still can't even quite top Ongpin's tapsilog and sisig. Hands down, they have the best sisig, tapsilog, calamari, crispy pata, sinigang, pancit... the list goes on. Prices are more than reasonable, however the atmosphere is decent, but who cares about atmosphere when you're stuffing your face with delicious Filipino food? I enter Ongpin expecting the best and always leave as a satisfied customer with the correct assumption.. this hole in the wall restaurant always hits the spot. Yay Ongpin!

I am STILL, so very full from my dinner from Ongpin.

I was starving since 3pm in the afternoon and decided to get some filipino food. Mr Bear wanted to go to Tribu to get some Filipino food but i wanted sth new, so we settled with Ongpin which is recommended by his co-worker.

We arrived there at 6 and it was half full, all are Filipinosb so we believe the food was really good. We wanted to get the Lechon but there were out :( should go there earlier next time!! So we ordered sigsig, chicken adobo, paksiw na lechon (lechon cooked in sweet soup) and Paksiw na Bangus (milkfish soup). The portion is HUGE! I've been to patio filipino and tribu and the portion in Ongpin is double the size. The food also tasted good, I didn't like the chicken adobo... but the lechon and sigsig is really good. Sigsig is not as crunch as the one in Tribu, but it's still very flavourful.

As for dessert, the coco cha-cha is a MUST have. They have ice cream, coconut milk plus rice crispy and gelatin. I feel SO guilty eating (because of the coconut milk) it but at the same time I'm SO glad i ordered it. It's SO GOOD.

Our waitress is also very nice and friendly. Ongpin is not a fancy restaurant like Tribu or Patio Filipino..it just feels like eating at someone else's house. But really, the food is just as good as other fancy restaurants! Next time I'll be there earlier to try the lechon and Kare Kare... it also seems that a lot of people ordered their Crispy Pata (fried pork leg)...

Oh... and did I mention that even though I was super hungry... Mr Bear and I only finished half of the food... so you can imagine how big the portion is..

Filipino comfort food is what this place was all about. Like a trucker who's driven for miles, this would be an ideal pit stop to kick back - relax, gather your thoughts, your family, and enjoy the meal.

Folks come from all around to try their signature dish - Pork Sisig. There are many ways one can go wrong in preparing this delicacy http://www.yelp.com/bi..., but this place got it just right!

Along with this entree, we had the Kare-Kare (Philippine stew, made with peanut sauce, oxtail, beef, tripe, and a variety of vegetables), Barbecued Pork on skewer, Sinangag, (garlic rice) and another delicacy, Chicharon Bulaklak (fried ruffled, pork intestine - deep fried seasoned Chitlins).

No wine list, no candle light, no valet parking, but plenty of love! The food was delicious and the service was excellent...

I can't believe I've never written a review for Ongpin because I've been coming here for many years & really enjoy their food.

I came here for lunch with the ladies in my family this week & we ordered:
- Filipino breakfast: tapsilog (the beef is so good with the vinegar & onion sauce & its served all day *insert smiley face*)
- palabok (large portion, only complaint is they don't make it with the thicker noodles)
- chicken tinola with a side of garlic rice (just like my grandma used to make.)
- halo halo with ube ice cream & coco cha cha (my absolute favorite Filipino dessert of all time, at any restaurant, EVER)
Bill Total: $43 (without tip.)

The service here is always really efficient & friendly; kinda feels like I am eating at a relative's house when I'm there. The staff is really laid back & happy, which makes the patrons relax & have a great time.

Decor has actually improved throughout the years. I remember back in the day when it was kind of filthy & bare-bones, but now they've put some better paint up & threw some embellishments on the walls.

Convenient location, lots of parking, and consistently good food will keep me & the fam coming back a few times a year.

I tried a few things here with the fam a while back.

The sisig wasn't traditionally made with pork cheeks and didn't come on a sizzling platter either. The diced pork did have a nice grilled flavor though, and plenty of garlic vinegar on the side as a condiment.

I liked the bistek bangus though, nice lemony soy sauce with a big portion of milkfish.

The pancit we had got a little boring after a while.

I met a Chinese Italian while volunteering at a national conference a few weeks ago.  Apparently, she was visiting the United States with the sole purpose of practicing her English.  I couldn't bring myself to tell her that the U.S. was not the best place to hone her language skills.  We are used to driving around in large, fuel-inefficient vehicles, while sucking down gallons of pop (soda) and greasy fast food.  Our adherence to grammar is just as unhealthy, degenerating our verbal and written communication into an amalgamation of internet chat, text messaging, and like, you know, superfluous discourse particles.

As it goes, she was leaving the U.S. soon.  Through casual conversation, I discovered that she had never eaten Pilipino food.  I immediately vowed to take her to a Pilipino restaurant before she left.

Ongpin was my weapon of choice.  I gathered a group together along with our Chinese Italian friend, and we met for dinner.  I was the only Pilipino in the group, and I felt a sudden terror as I realized I was introducing everyone to Pilipino cuisine.  If I failed, it would not simply be a strike against my palate, but an ugly mark upon the face of my culture's culinary expertise.

Luckily for me (and the rest of the Pilipino diaspora), Ongpin came through.  We ordered:

-Lumpia Shanghai
-Lechon Kawali
-Chicken Adobo
-Kare-Kare
-Sitaw-Kalabasa
-Palabok
-Garlic Rice
-Coco Cha-Cha
-Halo-Halo

With that many dishes split between a group of seven, everyone left full and content.  I've been to Ongpin many times, and with the exception of the Halo-Halo (see my Jolibee review), I am reminded of my grandmother and mother's cooking during every visit.  I suppose my apprehension in judging the quality of Ongpin's food in the presence of newcomers is because Pilipino food is not novelty -- it was the everyday of my childhood.

For those seeking an informative review out of this, I'll relate my observations of my Chinese Italian friend:  she really liked the lechon, the palabok, and the lumpia shanghai.  I think this is significant, since she has two feet firmly planted in cultures that specialize in prosciutto, spaghetti, rice noodles, and spring rolls.  If it's good enough for her, it's good enough for the rest of the world.

I am so proud to be Pilipino.

This Filipino institution is like something out of film noir -- tube lighting, ceiling fans, smoke-filled (from cooking not tobacco) bustle.

The food was fabulous. I had the Tapsilog. The -silogs on the menu are Filipino breakfasts (meat, eggs, garlic rice and vinegared onions) and are served all day long. Each is a cholesterol-fest but still a better alternative to the standard American breakfast.

The Tapa is beef-based bacon dyed fire-engine red that is more sweet than salty. The pork equivalent is called Tocino and the sausage version Longganisa. The meat portions are generous enough to feed two. The vinegared onions are essential to balance the grease.

Nothing remotely green is offered with this package, so you may want to order up some veggies on the side for the sake of your heart.

Thanks to Stephen D for letting me in on this Filipino community secret!

I always love the siopao and calamansi juice here. But today I ate, hands down the worst chicharon bulaklak I've ever had in my life, not to mention some weaksauce soup (uncooked veggies and quartered fish balls? c'mon). The breakfast plates here used to be so bomb. I will probably go back, try one of those and hopefully be able to update my review because my family has been coming here for a long time but today I was really disappointed in the quality of the food. I want to believe that this was just a fluke.

On the up side, we have never had really bad service here. I really like the staff here and don't want them to lose business. I just hope they take the time to re-evaluate some of their dishes.

AWESOME FILIPINO BREAKFAST PLATES!

I've been going to Ongpin for a long time, and although it's nothing too fancy in terms of interior decoration or food presentation, the quality of the breakfast items are excellent. After all, good Filipino food is truly about the flavor of the food over everything else.

RECOMMENDATION: Ongpin has awesome tocilog and tapsilog (barbeque pork and beef) that come in large portions with garlic rice and eggs for $7.45! (See uploaded picture) Order that and you'll leave pleased!

WARNING: Ongpin is RANDOMLY closed on Tuesdays! (That's where that 1 star went) On one sad day I was just staring at the closed door, trying to understand the meaning of "CLOSED" when it was clearly between 9:00am and 10:00pm. Other then their strange day off on Tuesday, this place is super awesome!

I love coming here.  My favorite dishes are the kare-kare and the sinigang, not to mention the garlic rice.  I have come here several times and I have had no idea the names of what I was eating, my mother in law always ordered, and I just ate what came out.
The decor isn't that special, the menus aren't brand new, but the people taking my orders were always nice to me, and the food has always been really good.

As far as Filipino restaurants go, I think Ongpin's got it.

Their crispy pata (deep fried pork shank) and kare-kare (ox tail in peanut stew...idk what it is, dont hate me!) are the BEST i've tasted. Not even my mom can make kare-kare that good. They have a wide variety of Filipino food, and, in my opinion, they are authentic. Best I've ever had in America as far as i know.

However, the restaurant is kinda janky and sketch. That's why my family always orders out from the place. It looks kinda dirty, so thats why i'm giving it 4 stars. I've only eaten in the actual restaurant once and it really gave me a dirty vibe. i trust my own home plates better.

Overall, if you want to experience authentic filipino food, no better place to go but ongpin's. SARAP!

One of the best Filipino Chinese Restaurants in the bay area! I have been coming here for ages along w/ my riding buddies after a long motorcycle ride & so far we never had a bad meal Or bad service here! Great food, good service and reasonably priced. One caution though: EXPECT A LONG WAIT to eat in this resaturant on any Saturday night for you'll wait in line to just to get in because it's a very popular restaurant + they serve BIG portions good for at least 2 people per order!

This review is for their catering service:

I ordered a few trays from here as well as a medium sized lechon for my son's baptism. I thought their trays were a bit pricey for the size of the trays, but I really love the food from here.

I didn't regret it at all, the food was excellent! I was worried that the kare kare would have only small pieces of meat, but they were very generous with the portions, and even gave me 2 extra trays (thats $200 worth!). The sitaw kalabasa was also a hit at the party.

And of course, the lechon. Some people think you cant go wrong with roast pig, but you can. Ong pin's lechon, however, was perfect! The skin was crispy, the meat tender, and the flavor was on point!...It wasnt overly salty..just perfectly...porky.

Ong pin is a little more expensive than the other catering places I checked out, but its sooo worth it!

Let me just start out by saying that my 5 star rating is based on the sisig and the sisig alone.

I first tried it at a friends party years ago and insisted he tell me where he ordered it from.  It has since been a staple at all our parties and quite frankly expected.  Seriously, my people would have a hissy fit if a party tray is not present.   How else would the drunkards make sisig nachos?!?!  That's right, sisig nachos and it's the ish!

Nothing more can I tell you except it lives up to the hype!

4 1/2 portion control if i am buying food for a group here is where i go to get good filipino food for hungry people

portions of 2-3 plates can feed roughly 10 folks easy just need a separate order of rice to suck up all that juice

Kare-Kare tender and tasty, sisig not the best but up there, adobo chicken or pork oily goodness through and through, all noodle dishes shelf life not to long but when made here it is usually done before the tray even goes down, crispy pata heart attach city just they way it is suppose to be made. bbq pork kabob juicy tender from outside to inside. now lick your fingers to get all the sauce off

if you trying to feed and army of folks pre-order here food is always good never bland and portions are huge for a decent price

food **** 1/2 almost like home
service ***** if you flip they have a tendency to talk 2 u in tagalog of the bat
ambiance *** food speaks here not anything to fancy just some chairs, tables and mirrors
price $$ have everyone throw in at least 7 bucks and u got  feast

Sometimes I just don't have the patience to "shop around" or "give it a shot".  Sometimes I don't feel like trying something new, and I'd rather play it safe and guarantee my satisfaction.  Ongpin is my guaranteed satisfaction.  I only come here for two things that I know will leave me happy and with left overs:  Sinigang and Sisig.

$9 per item isn't overpriced when it can feed two or more people and tastes good.  Don't come here looking for "ambiance"; this isn't a date-place, its a Filipino 'hood joint.  Expect families.  Lots of families.  Service may not be personal, but its fast.

Abby A. is due for some S&S (sinigang & sisig).

Came here with the family - Mom, Sister, SIL and Brother oh and Hubby!
My Mom loves this place but I have never been here.
Parking is a little packed but we found street parking.

They automatically add the gratuity (Listed as "SC") for parties over 6.
Small, clean and people seem very hungry. I was starving!

Calamari - Nice big pieces, rings and tentacles. They give you Toyo but we asked for Suka. It tastes better with Suka. I personally would have asked for ranch dressing. :)

Sigsig - Excellent! Spicy, flavorful pork! Almost tasted like Pastor meat.

Bangus - Can't go wrong with seasoned, fried milkfish! I practically ate the whole thing. Could have used more tomatos on the side. And my sister made fun of me because the way I take the bones out without using my fingers! Practice! Lots of Practice using the spoon/fork combo!!

Pride Pinkabet - not my favorite because of all the veggies I do not eat like eggplant, bittermelon. But I love Bagoong and coconut milk so the sauce and green beans and the small sampling of shrimp was really good. Just make sure you don't spill some sauce on you - it sticks with ya ALL day!

Beef Caldereta - I actually didn't taste any of this. I was focused on the bangus. But DH said it was good.

Halo-Halo I have had better. I pretty much just ate the beans and the ice cream. it was not sweet enough for me so I added sugar. Kind of a waste to order.

It was pricey. Over $120 but it was good. I know my Mom really loves this place but my Bro & SIL said there were better restaurants elsewhere. I would come back for the calamari and anywhere that will make me Bangus. Because I can't cook it at home - I don't like the fried smell in the house! :)

Maybe one day I'll try something else....oh I had the Coco Cha cha or something like that, I didn't really like it just an FYI. BUT the Tapsilog is so good they still get 4 stars...not 5 because well..it's not as clean as I would prefer...but it's okay!

Ma'am.  I don't like when people call me that.  I know that in the filipino culture it's a sign of respect but I still don't like it, it makes me feel old. Because I can't keep my opinions to myself, I let the server know and they quickly cease.

When I used to eat meat, I ordered the bistek and loved it!  However, when I started only eating seafood, I only order the bansilog.  The fish and the eggs are a bit oily.  However,  the garlic fried rice is good after a few dashes of salt.

Nothing fancy here, just simple filipino comfort food.  Reminds me of weekend breakfasts as a kid:)

Ongpin has become one of our good old stand by's for good Filipino food. The place is small and tends to get packed; so we've learned to either call our order in to pick up or come in during the off hours for an early (4-5pm) or late (9pm) dinner.

Their sisig is off the hook! Almost as good as my Mom's. (And we're Kapampangan...where it all started baby!) It's seasoned perfectly. The pork sinigang is also good with a nice variety of veggies: daikon radishes, bok choy, eggplant and Chinese long beans. Some people have complained about the strong taste; but we love ours super sour! Even my 4 year old likes it that way. Their BBQ chicken is also pretty good.

I would pass on their Pancit Palabok , Lumpia Shanghai and Halo Halo. I could make them better. It seems as if their Lumpia was all made ahead of time and warmed in a microwave (ew) when served. It doesn't have that fresh crispiness to it.

Overall their service is pretty good. The first time we went there they served my husband's BBQ Chicken long after the rest of our food arrived. They apologized and said that they had to marinate more chicken for our order. Good enough for us!

OMG! I saw the guy making the food inside wipe the counters with a rag, wearing a gloves, and then use the same rag to dry a pot he just washed, then use the same GLOVED hand, without removing the rag, to put garlic sprinkles on top of food other patrons ordered. Absolutely disgusting!!!!!

My wife and I joke that the guy had a huge attachment to that glove alright! Also, he used the same pot to cook all the dishes he was cooking. Very economical alright!

Ongpin... a small joint.. been going here for a while. Never really ate inside... its a bit too dirty for my taste... they have ceiling fans above you as you eat and the fans are a bit dusty.

The food though if ordered to go is good.  My fav... the sisig and longanisa!  Delish!

It is also real close to home so super convenient!

GREASY AND NASTY. Ok, I just have to write a review about this place. Ongpin is like a typical Filipino sit-down restaurant. It is noisy, crowded and not fancy. I have to say there is always a line at this place so you can tell Flips dig this place. The reason I am really writing this review is because of another review.

She was so embarrassed about the food blah blah. It was so greasy and nasty ... dear, Filipino food is greasy and nasty. Don't white wash yourself because you sound foolish. If you want white wash Filipino food, there are tons of them in the area sprouting like mushrooms. They call it fusion!  Goldilock's ... don't even get me started on that one.  Now, if you mentioned roaches, I am with you babe.  That is not a part of the Filipino diet that seems Ongpin thinks is a condiment.  I stick with the crispy pata or anything fried for that matter.

One advice, if you are female trying to impress a date ... cook. Leave the taking you out to a restaurant to the boys.

One warning to people who would like to visit this place, parking sucks. It is pretty much street parking.

Lastly, I can't imagine myself eating the sisig because it will be a chore just making sure everything crispy in it is actually pork.

Went there a few months back with some friends and family, and indeed had a good time complimented by good food. Or vice versa...either or this Samoan was indeed dig'n the Pinoy vibe! hahah.

The Sisig was mad good! We kept ordering more becuz the other fatheads that i was with kept eating it all! They had some garlic rice mess that was silly good as well. Definitely spiced up the meal. We had to keep ordering more plates of it. They had this longanisa dish that my boy ordered. I ain't ever really been a fan of it, but that might be due to the roach coach that made a sandwich for me who served it. This one was actually very tasty. I wanted to try more but like the jerk he is, he kinda turned his plate away form us and ate on. the punk!

didn't try desert, but if I'm ever in the area again, mos def I'mma have to pause and get some of the sisig to go!

Ate here with my boyfriend last night and didn't really like it.
We ordered:

Sinigang with pork: holy moly, it tasted like straight vinegar! Don't get me wrong, theres a vietnamese soup thats similar to this in which i think is way better

lumpia: ive had home made ones and they're way better than this

sisig: wasnt spicy when it had ** for spicy..it was alright

garlic rice with sausage and eggs: eh its okay.

We wouldnt come back only because its not something we loved or we hated, its just alright but wasnt satisfying!

Came here recently for lunch with a friend for the first time.

Looking at the menu it seemed expensive.  Kare Kare for a little over $10?  Hmmmmmm.
When we got the food, we can see why it was priced that amount. The portion was in a bowl bigger than Pho bowls!!!  In short, HUGE PORTIONS!  Definitely enough to feed two people!
Sadly, we didn't know that so I ordered the ongpin special noodle soup ($7), which included beef stew, wontons, and shrimp.  Oh man that beef was sweet and savory.  I LOVED it!

Our waiter was also very friendly, quick and was very good about refilling water, giving napkins, and asking if we needed more rice.

In short, my new favorite Filipino restaurant!  :)

yummm tocino!! thats what sparks my mind when i think of ongpin.  Their tocino is THE BEST i've had around Daly City.  I also love their garlic fried rice that comes with it.  Their pancit palabok is also pretty scrumptious too!  Ongpin is also a little pricey....I think it's around $8 a dish, but oh well! I will give up 8 bucks to eat some tasty tocino...my mouth is watering right now just thinking of it! =O)

I have not been to this location but I tasted your sigsig... "I don't know you but I love you...."
Seriously, I don't know you sigsig.
My husband says it's made up of a certain part of pig that I wouldn't want to be informed of.
He's right I don't want to know. I don't care if it's pig penis! Just don't tell me.

Everytime we party with a certain group of friends they bring sigsig and I eat it! So good and vineagary and spicy and mouth-wateringly tasty poured over rice.

I don't know about the restaurant and I don't care. I just love them for their sigsig.

Awwwwwww damn. I remember when i used to hit this comic book shop YEARS ago right next Ongpin. What happened to comics? The internets. Damn interwebs. Anyway, let me continue writing my review on Yelp. Ha!

You know how you have those dishes you just have to order when you go there? If i go to Ongpin, sisig MUST be ordered. I thin kit's my favorite one out side of the one time i had it in the Philippines. Sooo good! Their crispy pata is also, good, as well as their kare-kare. I'm not sure if i am spelling any of this right, but you know what i'm talking about.

When you are done eating you can cross the street and rent a BHS tape from Blockbosters!

Can you say, "yum?" I've been here a buncha times and every time I go, my tummy is always left satisfied and FULL!

What my friends and I typically order:
-Chicken Adobosilog (chicken adobo, garlic rice w/ a fried egg on top and a slice of cucumber and tomato).
-Lumpia Shanghai w/ sweet and sour sauce
-Sisig (chopped up pieces of pork w/ chopped up onion and jalapeno in some kinda sauce)
-Savory chicken (fried chicken pieces)
-Pancit Palabok (rice noodles with egg, shrimp, lemon and fish flakes)
-Halo Halo and/or Coco Cha Cha for dessert

The servings that they offer are HUGE and will leave your tum tum no room for dessert. I noticed that they give you less lumpia now when you order it. =( It's soooooooooooo yummy, why can't you give more??

The prices are decent and parking is great. The service is kinda "eh" sometimes. Sometimes I'll go and have great service. Other times I'll go and the waiter will forget a lot of things.

Last night, the waiter forgot to bring my sister's soda until a half or so into the dining experience. When we ordered, the waiter kept saying, "huh? what?" We weren't talking softly....so someone needs to clean his ears. When we got our lumpia for a party of 7 people, we got a small plate that would only serve like 3 people. Kinda made me sad....haha.

After about two hours, we decided to order dessert. I don't know if they were just lazy or if they had run out of bowls, plates and cups or what but the Halo Halo my cousins ordered came in bowl-like goblets while my sister and my Coco Cha Cha's came in plastic containers. I think they ran out of spoons, too, because we all got plastic spoons. Yeah, it was like 10:30pm at night but dude...wash your dishes and serve customers with good dishes/bowls and silverware.

I do love this place though.....yum! Man...now I'm craving the food again. =) You will love this place if you like eating Filipino food.

*****For Filipino food - 4 stars*****Food in general - 3 stars

Honey was craving pinoy food yesterday while we were grocery shopping at the asian market.  Decided to grab dinner here.  Portions are huge and we had a ton of leftovers.  Service is nice and the place seemed clean.  Ordered:

pinakbet - stir-fried eggplant/bitter melon/squash/green beans w/pork & shrimp

lechon kawali - wok-fried pork served w/lechon sauce

pancit palabok - rice noodles topped w/shrimp sauce & smoked fish flakes

sago at gulaman - dessert drink of gelatin & tapioca pearls topped w/shaved ice & drizzled w/caramelized syrup

I'm not an expert on pinoy food, but it's apparently one of the better places for home style cuisine according to my filipino friends.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the Bay Area - I love this place!  The decor and ambiance are nothing impressive, but you don't go there to feel cool, you go there to have some good home-style Filipino food.

Almost everything I've tried at this place has been fantastic - some of the best items: Pork Inihaw (BBQ/grilled pork strips), Bistik (beef steak strips cooked with soy sauce and grilled onions), Sitaw at Kalabasa (Asian string beans and squash cooked with pork in a coconut cream sauce), Pancit Palabok (thin rice noodles in a spiced shrimp sauce topped with seafood and eggs, Pancit Sotanghon (rice noodles with vegetables, pork and seafood) and Sinangag (garlic fried rice).  There are a couple of less impressive dishes (amazingly enough, Adobo, which was pretty bland, and Bicol Express, which had too many flavors and textures to be good), but everything else is great.  If there's room for dessert, try the Leche Flan - it is unlike any other version you've had: rich and decadent, yet not too sweet.

If you love good, old-fashioned Filipino food or have never had it, this is as authentic and as good as it gets!

BTW - this place is great for breakfast or brunch when you can order any of their "Silogs" - my favorite is the Longsilog...such amazing Longanisa!

I'm a fan of the food. I'm starting to crave synigag at least once a week.
The garlic fried rice, omg! I love it. Sisig is great.

It's not a fun place to eat if you are not filipino though. my bf is filipino and you should see the stares LOL...I have to say the service is not very good. Although I don't think that part matters if you are filipino or not...

It's not the best looking place, but the food's always hot and you can call and place the order and take it to go!
