The river towns in Northern Kentucky are filled with small tobacco and liquor shops. It's almost like crossing the Ohio/Indiana border to get fireworks or heading out to West Virginia for greyhound racing and porn... except closer to home. Until I quit again I'm still a smoker and when chaos hit all I had to do was visit my friendliest liquor store for a quick chat, an overpriced energy beverage and a carton of the cheapest smokes they carry (Poker brand, $1.84 a pack).
When I first moved to the area the shop was rather innocuous in a three store strip that also housed a bad video rental joint and a bare looking cell phone shop. One Stop has since acquired the entire building and expanded the selection of imported beer, wine and liquor and have one room dedicated to you brewskies that love to stock up on cases of major label beers for the labor day fireworks. Once the shop removed several of the creepy old guys that used to hit on me incessantly, leaving me smelling of cheap cologne after insisting on a hug my visits became more pleasant and more frequent. The current morning crew is sort of sullen though not nasty. The evening staff is super friendly, helpful and often humorous, not to mention one of women, a sweet and quiet cashier, lives behind me and gave me the heads up when my dog got out and how the garbage man threatened to call the cops.
This is a great place to stock up on your party beverages and pick up a bag of chips. It's not as nice or expensive as the party source and could never rival the selection but even if you're not a local you'll be treated as one and you won't have to wander through 4 aisles looking for the tequila or the shiraz you want before spending 20 minutes in line. Insider tip: Stop by during Memorial Day or Labor Day for the grill out in front of the store.
What's the point of another liquor store this close to Party Source? It's open later than Party Source on Sunday evenings and maybe even at other times!
It's also easier to get into and out of if you don't have time to do the full monty at PS. Decent selection and prices. Not the most attractive area, but it's safe.
