I never see One Midtown Kitchen on the lists for best restaurant when they rate Atlanta's restaurant but I think it's a wonderful place, tucked away in the cut near Piedmont Park. The big door makes you think you are about to enter a club of vampires, never to be heard from again. (seriously) As soon as we stepped inside we were warmly welcomed. I loved that the maitre d' said, "We are so very glad to have you join us tonight." with a lot of "umph" behind it. I felt like he meant it... lol. We went at 5:30pm so the place was relatively empty so we were escorted to the far booth in the back, which was perfect. The waiter was so very professional and very attentive and I would give 10 stars on service.
The calamari appetizer is STILL the best in town. The Ginger Peach martini was too strong (lol - my boyfriend was glad it was strong - if you like to get what you pay for you will appreciate the heavy hand with the liquor). The hummus that is served with the bread was awesome. The entree's were great but the side dishes were horrendous. I had the duck (delicious) with sides of rutabaga (who the hell serves rutabaga?) which was not good and wilted arugula (looked like weeds and taste was 'eh'). My boyfriend had the beef brisket (tender but fatty) with parmesan polenta (reminded me of grits) which were pretty good. I think they should take rutabaga and the arugula off the menu... lol.
Decor was fabulous, service was stellar and food was excellent (minus my sides). The kit kat dessert was delicious. Desserts can sometimes be shared by two but this was definitely a one person dessert. It was a treat for my boyfriends birthday and was given on the house by the waiter. We tipped him well.
Love it still.
One Midtown has a great looking interior. Good energetic, fun vibe, not veering into pretentious or club-like feel that plague certain similar places. I've eaten here before the chef change, but this review is based on my recent visit with a large party for friend's birthday.
Our table got two servers because it's a large party. One of them gave exceptional service, truly praise-worthy, attentive, helpful, friendly and professional. Unfortunately the other server not so much. I like that they have four price tiers (all reasonable) of wines to choose from and for the price of a bottle you can opt for bottomless glass instead, which lets you drink all the wines on that tier. Good way to try many wines if you can handle it.
The foods we ordered were executed nicely, for the most part. Tasty burger, fries, squid. Raw oysters were fresh although came with too much relish on top. Foie gras risotto had good texture, tasted great, but I couldn't taste or see any foie gras. I think both the selection and execution are better with this new chef, but the selection is still the main problem for me. Since this is not based on execution it's purely subjective: this menu (even if you account for periodic changes) is not only short, it just has too few dishes I would want to come here specifically to eat. I am not going to list what I had to chose from. Most dishes were just not exciting, appealing enough if you go out to eat a lot. It's not like La Pietra, Shaun's, or Rathbun's, where you almost want to try everything on the menu.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere of One Midtown, the bottomless wine thing, and the exceptional service that half of our table got. No glaring mistakes from the kitchen. The limited choices is what makes me give it 3 stars.
Sadness...the much-loved calamari is no longer on the menu. Says the bartender, "We have a new chef who's changed up the menu a bit, hopefully for the better."
The "Sixes Ale" specially brewed for Concentrics is nice, similar to a brown ale like Newcastle. I had a couple of these while waiting for co-workers to arrive for dinner during a rain storm in rush hour. When they arrived and we migrated to our table, I must've read the menu over a half-dozen times, searching for sometting that would jump off the page at me. Nothing did.
I did discover that the calamari isn't completely gone, however. Their fritto misto appetizer has some calamari along with other breaded and deepfried bits (onions, olives ((yes, deepfried olives)), thinly sliced lemons, etc.).
I settled for the cheese burger. Meh! The bun was a bit dry, the burger didn't have a lot of flavor, but the fries were good. At $10, it's one of the least expensive items on the menu though (hopefully the boss will appreciate that on the expense report).

Once Loyal, now DISGUSTED
Very inconsistent. I want to like this restaurant. The host is gushing. A few of the waiters are a joy (Chris). The decor is polished and slick. But the food and the service is VERY spotty. I have had 4 star dinners here and I have had 1 star dinners. The last time I ate there was a 1 star occasion and these seem to be the standard for now. Everything was off that night. The bartender did not know how to make a Negroni (didn't even bother to look it up). The Martini olives tasted rancid. The food was not even worth mentioning. Wine was oxidized. Our waiter knew nothing about the wine. "GSM" he said, "Oh sure the time zone..." There are so many times I just wanted to walk out. I was hosting company and friends. I was embarrassed for the restaurant at first and then just downright angry that everything was off.
I have eaten at this restaurant many times, and now I am not sure that I will ever return, unless I hear from other yelpers and reviewers that they have improved. Good luck One, I'm rooting for you!
The crowd is much older than Two. The food is not as innovative and tasty.
My scallops were mismatched, it seemed like I received two little bay scallops and one monster. I was not impressed with One's food, but the view is great! :)
I had the hanger steak here and I was not impressed with the steak or the fries. The steak was dry and hard and not tasty. Fries were just okay. The description on the menu sounded good but the actual food was just okay.
The restaurant itself was nice, I liked the atmosphere, service was not notable.
I would say that this restaurant focuses more on appearances (good job) than on the quality of their food. Probably a good place to hang out with friends and have drinks and appetizers but not a good place to come for a good meal.
Location, Location,Location!
Atmosphere, Atmosphere, Atmosphere!
I Loved It! I can go on and on to what makes a restaurant great! This place is hitting on all cylinders! From the Cool Entrance, to the very Social and Welcoming Host! To the Very Cool and Hip Decor, a Very Sexy Vibe comes over you when you walk into this place.
The open kitchen works in this space! The staff is a compilation of all the beautiful people in ATL, Loved it!
A party of 8ppl! 9:15pm, Saturday Night! The drinks were flowing, they pay attention the cocktails here, quality and presentation matter!
The food was great, presented well! Portions were just right! Salomon was amazing! The signature dish was the Steak and Pomme Fritte was perfect!
I had an absolutely amazing meal here during Midtown Atlanta restaurant week. The food was reasonably priced, but still innovative and tasty. I remember loving the buffalo chicken livers, the peach salad and the kit kat bar dessert.
The host was little overly friendly, but that's such a minor thing.
My only qualm (and reason for four stars rather than 5) is that I've read Concentrics is doing some chef shuffling, so the menu might be changing here. Sigh. ONE has always been my favorite of the Concentrics group- definitely the most consistent, and now that too might be ruined.
What a disappointment!!
I love Two Urban Licks, so when I found out we were going to a birthday party at One Midtown Kitchen (same owners) I was very excited! Little did I know....
The only positive - decor. It was gorgeous (despite being in the most off the wall location).
We sat at our table - it was a group of 12. The waiter comes around and passes bread and some green mixture to the table. Being allergic to soy, I asked him what it the dip was (didn't look like butter to me!). He had to check, and then came back to say it was edamame hummus (soybeans!). I ask for some butter please, stating I am allergic to soy. That never came.
We then order appetizers. An hour and a half later, we still couldn't track down our waiter to order entrees. Truthfully, I wish we never did. The waiter said the hanger steak was the worst thing on the menu and since I really enjoy steak, I inquired about the Striploin. He said "it's beef." No sh*t sherlock.
Boy I wish I didn't! My husband and I both ordered the striploin. You couldn't even cut the meat with the steak knife - that's how tough the meat was. My polenta had literally zero flavor and my husband's french fries were soggy.
I've eaten at some wonderful places around Atlanta and think this is by far the worst dining experience I've had so far.
Stay away!! (or come for a cocktail before eating elsewhere!)
A good friend mentioned visiting One Midtown and after hearing the name so many times, I opted to give it a shot during their restaurant week.
The interior of the place had a great feel, seeing the rolling hill outside, the classic light bulbs above the main dining area, and curved bar, very cool. I will merge my two meals into one, as I went back a few days later for a Birthday party for a friend.
Goat Cheese appetizer was unique, the truffle flavor added a great touch to the food.
Main Course was Steak Frites which had Parmesan Herb fries. The steak was served up to perfection, full of flavor and delectable. My other visit was the Smoked Brisket which also was a great dish, cooked to perfection. Not overcooked, not undercooked.
Dessert - They offered up cheesecake, among other very tasty fresh items with Georgia Peaches in them. Served up hot.
The Beverages---- Our waitress was told what we liked and delivered EVERYTIME incredible drinks. Their One Martini, One Mojito, and One Margarita are also very tasty.
Great Service, easy to make reservation on opentable, will be back!
They also do a thing on Tuesday's ( I think) where you can do food and wine sampling with the chef, if you have interest.
Went there Saturday evening with a group and was way more impressed then I expected to be. I don't know why I had such low expectations, except because it's a Concentric group place. Our server, Nathaniel, was the best server hands down I have ever had. His description of food was like reading Sauveur magazine except then I actually got to eat it. We had the creamed corn (oh. my. Corn, feta, smoked paprika. I could stick my head in this dish), an eggroll I think? and roasted fennel. I think the app was called three from the garden.
For dinner, I ordered the Hamburger which was not the best I ever had but it was topped with pancetta so who's complaining? The fries were great - a hint of Parmesan on them.
Others had (and I sampled) the margherita pizza (Um, yeah. get this), the brisket and scallops. All were a huge hit and there were no doggie bags that night
For dessert I want to tell you about something called their version of a kit kat bar - I don't know what it was or what's in it but I would certainly cross oceans to have some more of that. The cheesecake too.
All in all, it was a fantastic dinner. The mood can't be beat either- GREAT date place. Just moody enough...
I was recently in Atlanta on business. this dinner was courtesy of one of the pharmacy's I use for my patients. it was a set menu - I choose the salmon which had mushrooms and thick pieces of bacon. it was pretty good, I don't see it listed on their regular menu though. for apps there was wood oven pizza, which was excellent, "small plates" of beets, butternut squash, leek and onion tartlets (my fav), bacon wrapped shrimp and salad. the dessert was their version of a kit kat, it was so rich, almost too rich to eat, but I managed :-)
Keeping this short and simple.
I've been here twice now. Service was excellent both times, very professional yet personable! Friendly management, bartenders, wait staff, and even valets. The portions are fitting, very fresh ingredients. Decor and ambience = amazing. I had a great time thanks to the staff.
One Midtown is a great place for a romantic date or a nice dinner with friends.
Highly recommend.
I'm getting to be even more boring than I thought I was.
The whole family is out of town and I'm alone (which I hate).
I do some networking thing and then decide to grab a drink, eat, and read a book.
Where do I head?
To One and the bar in the back.
Dirty martini and then a ruby red.
Tuna tatiki thing, cheese plate, and I'm set.
Always predictable quality, always predictable level of engagement with the staff.
New house is within walking distance - can it get any better than this?

I was there watching Ronnie eat his calamari. Now I have seen him eat a number of times, but this time he was just shoveling the food into his mouth, stopping every couple of minutes to say "This is the BOMB!" I heard him tell friends a couple of days later that it was the BEST calamari he had ever eaten. I don't know cause I didnt get any.
Love the space, its a very pleasant room to be in. I actually look forward to going back, its that nice. Almost all the customers this night were female. There were several bachelorette parties. The noise level was higher than I prefer. The service was generally good, although our server kept bumping into Ronnie's shoulder. 5 times! Ronnie said he didn't mind but it would have really annoyed me. I thought the tables were nicely spaced but obviously not.
Anyway the food lets this place down. I got the 3-veg starter and quite enjoyed it. The cheesy corn on the cob was cool. My main was duck, and I really hated the heavy handed spices which all but drowned out the flavor of the duck. Really it could have been any meat. Yes, I get that its "jerk" but put it on chicken and charge a tenner. Ronnie really loved his watermelon salad, but even he disliked his main of smoked brisket. I had told him (thanks to Yelp) that the Steak frites was the thing to get here but did he listen?
I really liked that they had a decent beer for me to drink, their own ice-cold concentrics-brand Numbers ale. In fact I had 4! Or was it 5? I was rather surprised when the bill came and they were 6 bucks each! Prices are on the high side anyway, but I think they could charge less for the house beer.
Been going here for years and can't believe I haven't written a review yet.
Back when they first opened (and about 2 years after that) I was here at least every 2 weeks. But haven't really been back since '07.
Last night the girls and I wanted some "real dinner" and we decided on ONE because of the close proximity to where we were and it was on http://OpenTable.com on my iPhone. So we snagged a reservation and zipped over.
The same 2 guys are still at the front greeting and seating. Nice to know that some things never change. There were tons of folks in there (even at 8:30) the restaurant was almost at capacity. Not bad for a recession.
Our server promptly greeted us once seated and helped us through the wine list and specials. Two of us opted for small plates and sharing while our other friend went for the Halibut.
We shared the calamari to start. It was just as good as I remembered. The sauce is a sweet/spicy glaze with the calamari itself sitting atop a smattering of aoli. YUM
We ordered the Black Mission Fig salad, Tuna Tataki and Georgia Shrimp.
The Black Misson Fig salad was great. But who doesn't love goat cheese, arugala and some of the freshest figs ever?
The Tuna Takaki was perfectly seared and the flavors complemented one another very well.
The Georgia Shrimp was definitely my least favorite. It tasted fishy and could have used more spicy. It has a smokey flavor but not much. We didn't finish it.
Our service was great and we were seated at a nice back booth so we could see everything that was going on in the restaurant. It was nice to catch up with one another and have a conversation. Although the place was packed it wasn't overly roaring loud.
Good to know that some things never change even when you've been gone for too long. My old favorites from the menus before were the burger and their fresh fish dishes. Katie's Halibut looked amazing and now I wished I had opted on getting that.
Possibly my favorite restaurant in Atlanta. The drinks are amazing, the atmosphere is fantastic, the food is phenomenal, the service is stellar. This place is amazing and if you have not been you should go.
I find it difficult to classify Concentrics restaurants...are they a genuine canvas for the artistic chef or just another chain?
At ONE Midtown Kitchen, I can safely say that they are the former. The food is a unique blend of tastes that requires you to think, "why would they put these items together?" My appetizer was pasta carbonara and it was fantastic, the lamb pancetta was like a very good piece of bacon. My entree was brisket served with cheese grits, corn salad, and watermelon (yes, watermelon!). I was hesitant with the dish at first, and then I tried eating the watermelon and grits together, and it was a fantastic combination. The texture of the grits mixed with the suppleness of the watermelon was a sensation I will try again when I get a chance. I was constantly kept on my toes, eating at ONE Midtown Kitchen was like reading a cartoon in the "New Yorker" - you may not understand it but you still enjoy it.
The food was excellent, and everything blended well together. I felt that the kitchen was daring me to try more. There were other items on the menu that makes me want to return. Duck with jerk seasoning, Salmon with ruby grapefruit, pizza with peaches and prosciutto - a menu that demonstrates true thought and creativity.
Finally, the atmosphere and service was excellent. The waitress was very helpful...I highly suggest you ask them what do they suggest and they will give you a very detailed and thought provoking answer.
I highly recommend this restaurant...but be prepared to think.
This is a top-knotch place. My first impression was a good one when I called to make a reservation for 8 and the person on the other end was super professional and friendly, asking me what the occasion would be for. This same host greeted us upon arrival and had the same great attitute and level of professionalism.
Ambiance--very classy and warm. I loved the "test tube" light bulbs hanging everywhere, the bar area with the huge wall of wine bottles, and the big original loft windows overlooking the big grassy field for the power plant. Part of the crowd was a slightly older group (40s and 50s), while the other part of the crowd was prom-goers and bachelorette parties.
From the bar I ordered a Lavendar Martini made with gin, lavendar and lemon. It was really, really good. From the menu I ordered the "three from the garden" off the app list as my actual meal. It was great as well. My husband got the chicken served over pappardelle pasta which he devoured. Others at the table got steak & frites, a burger, risotto balls, and tons of other stuff. Everyone agreed that their dish was delicious.
I didn't get to try this part of the menu, but I couldn't help but be attracted to the "bottomless wine" lists sectioned off into $22, $32, $42 and $52 based on the quality of the wine. I will definitely be going back for that!! For dessert I tried a bite of my friend's caramel apple tart. It was the best apple dessert I'd ever put in my mouth. The caramel sauce was real (cooked sugar), nothing out of a jar.
I actually prefer the food a little bit better at their sister restaurant, Two Urban Licks, but other than that you definitely need to go to One. It would be a great place to take a date.
Overall, I enjoyed my experience and my meal at One Midtown Kitchen. The place has an interesting feel; it's upscale but more "clubby" than posh. The large backlight neon front door is an interesting first impression. The host (Bob?) was extremely friendly, but he walked a very fine line between ingratiating and smarmy -- I thought he was entertaining, but I could see some people finding his personality grating.
Anyway, we were seated after waiting in the lounge for a bit and the inside is pretty unique. Some seating can be a little close to other parties, but not too close to significantly annoy me. I started with a Caesar, which was good, but it didn't top the Caesar I had at Home. I did like the interesting basket of bread they bring out with hummus, though. That's a nice touch. For entrees, my date had the Steak Frites and I had the Smoked Brisket. I also ordered a side of truffled mac and cheese to try. My brisket was very good, and the piece of steak I tried was great (and the parmesan fries). The flavor of the mac and cheese was interesting -- I'm not sure if the truffle oil complements it or not. I could go either way.
For dessert we tried the Kit Kat Bar, and it was great. Nothing stands out about the service good or bad, which means it was adequate. Overall, a good meal.
I find myself going back to "One Midtown Kitchen" a lot. Ive tried all the other's in the group including Two Urban Licks, Trois, Pie bar (now closed) but "One" is my favorite.
Why -- Wine bar, appetizer list, service, price
This time I went with Dad and we sat in the Outdoor (new) patio glass enclosed section. It was very nice. I've never been let down. Service is truly exceptional! Ambiance is cool. Could get loud -- thats the only downside. But I'm ok with busy, bustling cheery restaurants.
The wine bar is one of a kind extending from floor to ceiling.
My favorites on the menu -- Goat cheese (baked in sourdough) is my top choice, followed by the lamb ribs, meat and cheese, Calamari & mussels. I have to mention their amazing wine selection and the "bottomless" offering. Alhough, I'm usually happy at the 2nd or 3rd glass so have never really opted for the bottomless glass!
Try it out!
Went for a week day dinner.
Made reservation online, then called in for a later time. Very gracious phone host.
Almost had to go home because I was so weakened with hunger I could barely muster the strength to open the steel door :)
Ordered:
- the duck - DELICIOUS
- bouillabaise - NO flavoring whatsoever
- mozzarella pizza - where were the big hot chunks of mozzarella? I do not recommend ordering the pizza
- brisket - very sweet, maybe if we hadn't tasted the duck first we might have enjoyed the brisket...
Also, one glass of San Silvestros Barbara wine. It was red in color. Did not taste dry. I cannot recommend or not recommend it as... I know nothing about wine.
Really awesome service. Really cool place. Food was okay, but I believe I'd go again :)
From the time you first hear the voice of "Bob Bost, The Host with the Most" on the phone you will experience good service and great food here. A very nice atmosphere that works good for a casual dinner with friends or a romantic date. The dress code is typically business casual, although I have eaten here more than once in shorts and flip-flops and did not feel out of place.
Famous for their steak and fries (Steak Frites), just about everything on the menu is good. Smoked brisket is pretty good here, but I don't think it's always on the menu. I love the calamari here as an appetizer. I've been eating here for years, and have never had a disappointing meal. If you are ordering desert, the Kit Kat bar is the best! This is their specialty desert.
A fantastic restaurant that had recently gotten better with the view of an expanded Piedmont Park. The wait staff is very knowledgeable with food and pairing with wine. If you can, ask to sit in Chris G's section. Best service I've ever had at a restaurant and excellent wine knowledge. His passion for his work shows.
Wine tastings here are fun too.
Always a great place to go for drinks. The espresso martini is my favorite. The bottomless glass of wine is a good deal, but I just can't tear myself away from those martinis!
I've been to One on several occasions, mostly for large parties. It's a great place to celebrate and the staff has always been accommodating (even if our whole party isn't QUITE there yet. :) The interior is very modern and fresh, dim but not dark...great atmosphere for a date as well.
This trip to One was with one of my girlfriends for Midtown Restaurant Week. We went on a Wednesday night at 7pm and the place was pretty quiet. Is the recession creeping in? The wine wall did look a little bare, but things started picking up slowly around 8pm.
On to the food - for appetizers I ordered the goat cheese sourdough bread. It was basically a huge wedge of bread with a tiny bit of goat cheese in the center and a few mushrooms scattered around the plate. I was VERY disappointed. :( My friend ordered the calamari (which I love, but I had already binged on earlier in the week). Can I tell you how jealous I was? The calamari was fantastic. It was served in a sweet and spicy sauce similar to the one used at Two Urban Licks. It was cut into seriously large pieces rather than the crumbs you usually see in restaurants. I was impressed.....and jealous. For entrees I ordered the fig and prosciutto pizza which had a balsamic glaze drizzled over the top. I had been craving figs all week, but it didn't quite hit the spot. It was just okay for me. She went the safe route and ordered the always delicious steak frites. It's her favorite - they can do no wrong in her eyes. Being the glutton that I am, I stole a few of her parmesan-herb fries. Okay, I can see why she enjoys it so.
For dessert I ordered the kit kat bar. It's a staple on their menu, so I couldn't go wrong. It was so good that I can't even remember the other dessert we ordered (although I did try it - of course!). All in all the food on this particular night was just okay for me. That certainly isn't a testament to their overall menu though. I will be back... at least for the calamari and the kit kat bar, if nothing else.
I totally forgot about this place. Went here a few months ago with a group of ladies. The company was good, waiter was fast and efficient but the food was just alright.
First thing i ordered was the goat cheese but I didnt like it so i sent it back and got the Steak Frites. It was good but i wasnt wow'ed. I might go back there one more time to see if i change my mind.
It's been a long time since I've been as impressed by the decor and ambiance of a restaurant as I was at One Midtown Kitchen. The velvet drapes at the entrance make the gorgeous room behind them into a wonderful surprise. The lighting is perfect, tables well situated, and the view of the Atlanta skyline is pretty breathtaking.
Service was beyond great, with Bob at the door introducing himself and remembering our names throughout dinner. Our waitress was full of recommendations and details about the food. They're offering a pretty great deal right now: $20 for two courses, $30 for three.
I started with the goat cheese appetizer which was heavier than expected. I'd recommend this if you get a soup or a lighter appetizer to accompany it. My salmon was great and I loved the apple/leek combination that was served alongside. The fried apples brought the perfect amount of sweet to the dish.
I liked how their wine list was organized and appreciated that they had some more inexpensive varieties. While I definitely enjoyed my meal here, I'm reserving that 5th star for the times I look forward to returning.
I came here, expecting it to just be another overhyped, trendy restaurant, and it wasn't.
The cocktail list was creative and lengthy. The food was just as interesting; my pizza with peaches and prosciutto really worked. Not only that, but the prices were great. I'll definitely be returning.
I have been to One Midtown Kitchen on three occasions. Overall I think it is a nice spot. I think their wine program is pretty cool, I just wish they had some better wines. At $62 a bottle, I expect to find some wines that I do not see at Kroger. I do enjoy the bar area and think this is a good date spot or a place to catch up with a friend.
I have tried almost everything on the menu and while it's good, nothing has made me want to come back for it. By far my favorite item has been the chicken in black truffle sauce. Just always needs a pinch of salt or something.
LOVE. THIS. PLACE.
I've been fortunate enough to eat at One a couple of times, and it has never disappointed me. The first time was on New Years Eve last year, but with all of the hubbub, it was hard to have a very memorable experience.
I went again with my boyfriend a couple of weeks ago, and the experience solidified this restaurant as one of my top 3 favorites in Atlanta.
I love the interior of this place. The bar and kitchen area is surreal, and the lighting is decidedly sultry. The banquette seating is a little tight, but I actually liked it that way; it reminded me of New York dining.
Service here was phenomenal. Our server wasn't super attentive (like, showing up at your table every moment you happen to look up), but he was always on top of things.
And onto the food. We started off with a baby beet salad that had a simple but perfect marriage of ingredients. I've had many beet salads from many different restaurants, but One's definitely takes the cake. We also had the gnocchi, which was served with a light, simple buttery broth. It was perfectly cooked, not chewy or tough at all.
For my entree, I ordered the chicken, over pappardelle pasta. It was probably the best chicken dish I've ever had. The black truffle butter sauce was to die for; I don't think I've ever had anything like it before.
Boyfriend ordered the smoked brisket, which was great as well. He didn't enjoy it quite as much as my chicken dish, but I loved the spicy tang of the vinegar sauce in his brisket dish.
All in all, you really can't go wrong with One. Perfect place to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, or just a random Saturday night. :)
VENUE: Like their other restaurant, Two Urban Licks, this place was kind of hard to find but a great one. The outside and inside was just so pleasing and comfy. I felt as if I was at home. The ambiance is beautiful and the setting of the whole restaurant makes you feel more comfortable than ever.
FOOD: Tasty and pricey as I expected. I got what I paid for. I've heard their steak and frites were the best, I'll definitely have to check that out next time. I started off with the lobster salad which had huge chunks of lobster and soba noodles which was quite a surprise. The surf and turf, which was huge gulf shrimp and filet mignon. No dessert, but I saw a huge chocolate/tiramisu looking cake I definitely want to try. Came here with friends for V-day... next time I'm making sure my date takes me there.
Did the Friday night preemptive Valentines dinner here. First and only visit.
Love the wine list both in how it is tiered, and differing glass options. The guy seated at the table next to me was visibly disappointed when he learned that the "bottomless glass" of wine wasn't truly bottomless.
Ordered the goat cheese and bread with shrooms and truffles expecting a standard hunk 'o bread and cheese on the side. Oh, no. It was a wedge of bread with the cheese cooked into it. You know how sharks' eyes roll back when they are eating. I had the same reaction upon trying this thing.
Had the ribs. Very impressed. I'm assuming that they aren't truly barbequed, but the chef did a great impression. The meat was fall-off-the-bone, the flavor was dependent on the meat and the seasoning rather than being drowned in some overly sweet sauce. Kudos!
Service was spot on, no pretentiousness. Can't wait to go back.
OMG! OMG! OMG! Let me tell you.......fabulous. My husband and I dined here for brunch on Mother's Day (I can't believe I forgot to do a review). For an appetizer we had the calamari. I have never had it prepared they way that it's served here. I believe it was syrup and soy sauce. I think (side eye). It was really good.
I will definitely return!
Wooohoo!!! haha...I was looking for a great place to celebrate my birthday, being DC has tonz of nice wine bar restaurants, I wanted something along the same lines! So after hours of searching...I found One Midtown Kitchen!!
Driving up to the place, I was spektic...this place was located in a residential area, if it was not for the purple neon lights, I would have no clue where it was!!
But let me tell you...walking inside this place...its absoultely amazing!!! The ambiance is wonderful, the wine bottle display is out of this world!! I was sooo impressed with this place.....
Lets talk about the food..yes yes..sorry for taking forever to get to it...but the food was well worth it, the steak was juicy and it seems great!!
My Fav...THE DESERT!!! The chocolate molten cake desert...gosh I could have eaten ten!!! It was soooo soo good!! Def recomment it :)
One Midtown Kitchen has an amazing ambiance. The place is perfectly lit for romantic occasions or social gatherings with close friends.
The restaurant decor and furniture is clean, sleek, and inviting.
It's a real retreat from the loud and overly crowed Two Urban Licks.
It's hard leaving the place not feeling fully satisfied. I leave there heavy stomach but light hearted.
I'm so cheesy... yummm, I love cheese.
I love Two Urban Licks, so my friends and I had to try One Midtown to compare. It's great! Definitely a smaller venue, more intimate and less trendy atmosphere, but still has a cool feel. Looks like a strip club from the outside, gorgeous on the inside. Their bar is awesome looking.
The first time I came was for my birthday and it was a Friday, and we sat up front at the first banquette, it was a great see-and-be-seen table for birthday festivities! One was definitely hopping that night. The second time I came was on a Wednesday date, and we sat right up by the window and had a great view, under the dangling lights. Definitely more romantic on that side of the restaurant!
Food was great. I was not let down either time. The steak and frites is really really great. I've ordered the goat cheese app both times because it is unexpected and tasty. The salmon and beef brisket are also great!! All their desserts are good, but the KitKat bar is fun and creative. Service is fine, nothing crazy good but nothing to complain about at all either.
All in all, definitely a great restaurant and a fun start to an evening out-- like Two, it's also really close to a lot of good Atlanta nightlife. Try it if you haven't been!
This has a great atmosphere and super good friend. The calamari is to die for, I have never had anything like it. A great place for a date or a group of people.
This is the real deal for style, food and hip. I wish the other restaurants in ATL would pay attention to detail like this one. From the moment you walk in greeted by the nicest of people that call you by your name to the design style that has not gone out of style, this is a treat and a great place to impress or take a date. They acctually play music from Mezzanine Level and Supper Club. Style.
Food - Creative and dependable. Enjoy.
I ate here for my bachelorette party, what a great choice (thanks MOH)! The calamari appetizer was delish, my main dish was excellent as well! No one at the table complained-or talked, we were all too busy eating! The atmosphere was typical for this restaurant group: hip, trendy, a tad dark, modern, somewhat eclectic.
Overall a good eat, the service was spot on as well.
The first restaurant I ever went to when I moved to Atlanta was One Midtown Kitchen. There didn't seem to be too many vegetarian options so in 3.5 years I didn't return. Nothing against the place - it just wasn't top on my list for dinner.
I went back last night and they made me a new fan!
The decor is in step with other Concentrics restaurants - modern and nice. I love the very tall wine wall near the bar! The crowd is full of young 30-something year olds for the most part. It's not a super dressy place but, people dress a little nice.
The vegetarian options on the menu are still limited but Peter, our fantastic waiter, had the kitchen make a vegetarian risotto that was oh so good! The sourdough and goat cheese was super good too. The rest of my friends were huge fans of the calamari and the chicken. They liked the duck but, thought it was a little overcooked. Dessert was heavenly indulgence as well, with some molten chocolate cake or something like that...
I also have to comment on how well they handle larger groups. We were only 6 but, they still were very good with the group table. There were larger parties in the restaurant as well and they seemed to handle it smoothly.
I love their wine selection and the organization of their menu is simple and logical. I know... the menu is a weird thing to comment on but, when you see it you will understand.
