Awesome, awesome, awesome. I am in love with this store.

They have some really incredible grunge inspired items here (which I've been leaning towards lately for some reason - it's always something new with me). By inspired, I mean it's not completely 90s but leaning that way. The whole store is unique, bright and colorful.

Liz is super sweet. I was fascinated with the Japanese stationary (it took me back to my elementary school obsession), and I was particularly obsessed with pencils that looked like cigarettes. It doesn't take much to amuse me....but this place would amuse anyone. It's amazing.

I am quite enamored with Japanese culture as is the owner of Omoi, who told me she spent a good while in Japan and this inspired her to open a store dedicated to fashion, arts, and assorted thingamajigs related to Japan.  I wandered in to window shop and to accompany a friend of mine who was looking for some clothes.  Meanwhile I browsed the book section and the stationary decorated with big-eyed cartoon animals.  What girl doesn't like those?  I also perused the art section which had some pretty cool looking prints I will most likely go back to retrieve when I have extra cash to spend.

While my friend tried on some awesome graphic printed tee, I chatted with the store owner who told me that most of the clothing is made locally by artists inspired by the Japanese culture, because us Americans are gangly and tall in comparison to the cute little Asians over there.  (She didn't actually say this, and I'm Asian-American, so I can call us cute and little.)  She said she wished she could bring over the real thing but there is no way a normal American could fit in the sizes they have over there.

I ended up buying an amazingly funny book called Atlas Schmatlas, which several of my friends ended up buying too because it was so hilarious.  They had a lot of art books that also caught my eye.  I will definitely return!

Awesome store.

I always come here when I have time but it seems like most of the time I don't buuy anything because the stuff I'm looking for is either sold out or has not arrived yet. The staff here are really friendly and patient, and they don't follow you or stare you down which i absolutely appreciate ! (I've had too much of those in small stores)

If you like Japanese-style cartoon kittens, puppies and bunnies (and really, who doesn't?), then this is your place!

Omoi is stocked with all things pop culture from Japan. There's so much to swoon over: pens adorned with sayings in broken English; kitschy cartoon-imprinted stationary; journals bearing kittens with French sayings superimposed on their sweet little faces; homewares (candles, drinkware); and some women's and men's clothing.

When I brought my purchases to the counter, the sweet, helpful sales associate was watching videos of puppies on youtube, which I found so endearing. She was so sweet; I want to be friends with her!

Omoi is a great little shop just off the beaten path.  They stock stationary that you won't find anywhere else and have an eclectic assortment of tee-shirts that are hard to resist.  Perfect shop for gifts or some personal retail therapy.

The fact that this store has garnered such a following and has survived in this comparatively quiet location in Center City shows how unique this store is. Even if you're not specifically looking for Japanese items, there are plenty of interesting things to look at and buy. It's a great place for gifts. Nicest staff, too.

I still have no idea how to say it but Omoi is absolutely awesome.  They have amazing accessory and gift items as well as cards, toys, shirts, clocks, art and jewelry.  I go there to get presents for people and they have never let me down.  I always find something cute and quirky here pretty reasonably priced.

My favorite thing about Omoi besides the fact that the owner and employees are super sweet and lack any bit of pretentiousness you might expect from a store so awesome is that they take the time to gift wrap your items.  I watched the woman, pretty sure she's the owner, match up the tissue paper to my purchases for maximum matchability.  That is some serious love.  I also love the window displays, always cute. Now I just have to go when I'm only shopping for me so I can really focus on the awesome they offer.

The only downfall (no stars removed though) is parking, it's pretty tough in the area but there are several loading zones on Lombard and on Spruce right around the corner if you're just popping in.

I actually found this store while browsing around on Yelp looking for places I haven't been to in the city that sounded interesting - and I'm glad I did.

I ended up going here the other week to find a gift for my sister, who loves anything cute and Japanese. I ended up getting her a t-shirt and cell phone charm which she loved. The staff was amazing and the girl even put it in a little box with tissue paper and covered the pricetags with tiny stickers since I said it was for a gift.

It was a bit rough to find parking though, even on a Tuesday afternoon, so next time I pop in I'll just walk :)

Finally got out to Philly today and stopped by! The place is as amazing as described by other Yelpers. Really wonderful and varied selection of items, books, jewelry and clothes, for really reasonable prices!
If only I'd had more money to spend... I did walk away from it with a great purchase of some adorable doggie-shaped sticky note-type page markers.
I will definitely make this place a regular stop when ever I can!

This place is bursting with kitschy Japanese cuteness. I was very excited to find this shop, because I stumbled upon it randomly when walking home one day. The girl at the counter was super sweet and she talked to me as I gazed around the store in awe. They have adorable clothes, toys, stationary, perfume and much more. I will definitely be back to purchase some of the greeting cards. This is the perfect store to buy a cute present for one of your girlfriends.

This place is great and you can always find a cute gift for someone or yourself.  I can't understand why Philly doesn't have more stores like this.
The card selection is not huge but they have some of the best cards around.

Such a bright little bento box of a store! Omoi houses an eclectic variety of merchandise inspired or imported from the land of the rising sun and all things kawaii. Liz (the owner) is extremely sweet and is quick to assist you if you are looking for a gift or to offer information about brands or artists.

A NOOKA watch was my favorite purchase from this store, and super cute stationery sets from the likes of Banana Boss make jotting passive-aggressive work notes way more fun and certainly more adorable. My boyfriend, however, is a fan of the puffy ninja stickers and screen-printed tees.

But personal shopping aside, Omoi's unique qualities make it a terrific location to pick up something special for someone that has *almost* everything. Instructional books on Japanese crafts, interesting coffee table books like the Blythe books by Gina Garan or Fresh Fruits, teapots and cups, anime figurines, rice powder incense, and the jewelry are just some ideas.

Stop in and give Omoi a look-see. You're sure to find something you can't live without.

Cute little store with things Japanese, from cellphone charms to t-shirts. I will be back next time in Philly to see if they have more Blythe dolls, they only had one. They were nice enough to show me the doll and some books. I didn't realize that there was more to the store leading up the stairs with more cute stuff.

Omoi is my favorite little shop in Philadelphia. I always know that I can find something unique and interesting there. Lots of high-quality clothing and gifts from Japan and also local designers. I challenge you to resist the stationery selection [and the adorable blind box toys]. I plan on picking up a few Christmas gifts here this year.

Liz and her staff are always great to talk to, and I try to stop in whenever I can. I love having them as neighbors as much as I love this store.

Awesome little store in an unlikely spot.  Staff is always super friendly and helpful, and you can often find great deals when they are having a sale.  They had to add the doorbell because they were robbed, which stinks.  I want to punch that robber!  What a stupid jerk.

I love this store for it's bright and fun colors. The people who work there are extremely friendly and always willing to help you. I've only come across a slightly uninterested employee there once, so no biggie. We all have our good days and whatnot. The reason I love coming here is for the one of a kind items they bring to Center City that isn't found anywhere else. A good deal of what they have is usually found online and it's wonderful to walk in and take a look at stuff without having to travel to NY or Japan. The space is small, but cute and mostly targeted to females in my opinion, but there are also plenty of male-friendly merchandise.

I love this shop :)

This is the coolest little store, and visiting it made my day.

The owner, Liz, stocks all kinds of neat merchandise, much of it with a Japanese flair, from clothing to jewelry to notepads and postcards. There is also a good selection of J-pop magazines, which are really hard to find in Philly. I fell in love with a silver unicorn necklace and a toadstool made of felt.

It may be a bit off the beaten path, but Omoi is definitely worth the trip.

Hands down, my favorite boutique in Philly.

I am slightly Japan obsessed and this place just adds fuel to the fire. I've begun collecting the cutesy cartoon items they have (like Elite Banana, adorable and hysterical) which most people just don't understand.

They have reallllly nice clothes too. I HATE wearing shorts but the pair I bought from Omoi are my absolute favorite and I can't wait until spring so I can wear them again. Everything they carry is great. Definitely check it out if you're looking for something unique and whimsical.

Omoi screams "CUTENESS"!!!!

As soon as you walk in to the store, you will notice that its shelves are filled with adorable Japanese cartoon items, like postcards, bags, and notepads. Omoi was also the place that I found one of my sister's birthday presents, a Sam Flores ashtray. It's the place to go if you are looking for a one-of-a-kind gift for a friend.
Omoi also sells my favorite candles, Pacifica soy wax candles, and I have this shop to thank for introducing me to the Blood Orange candle scent.

One of the best things about Omoi is that the shop owner is so nice, friendly, and helpful. I have been in there a few times perusing their merchandise and have been able to simply strike up conversation with the owner. This means worlds to me considering that I have been in so many shops in Philly where the owner displays some kind of illusion of superiority over the customer just because they own a hip shop.

Kawaii.

Unfortunately the many cute things here would contribute to the clutter in my apt. Fortunately, they are more spendy that I can justify, so the many cute things do not end up in my apt.

(Also, if you think you broke the door when you entered, it was like that already.)

I absolutely adore this store. They always have something that catches my eye - vinyl toys, quirky cards, cute poop notepads, books, shirts, etc. Whenever I need a gift and I don't know what I should get, I swing by Omoi and find the perfect thing. Liz is so friendly, helpful and genuine and she takes such care when wrapping up your purchases. One of my favorite places to shop in the city.

This store is great! Many of the other reviews of the store are spot on, so I will try not to repeat what the others have said. Liz is absolutely wonderful and friendly, and she is one of the reasons I continue to come back to the store (besides the cool merchandise). I had bought a shirt for a friend that was a size too small, and Liz e-mailed me as soon as it was in stock so I could do a quick switch-a-roo. Though the store is small, they do a good job of filling it with really neat clothes, notebooks, and whatchumacallits.

This was a cute place.  Lots of small little things from stationary to little cups and glasses and a small slew of cute clothes.  Stopped here with my boyfriend from Osaka and though a lot of things weren't actually from Japan, they were still cute and matched in theme.  We didn't actually get anything.  I saw a shirt I liked but it was only in one size, and that one size was much too large for me.  It's a good, cute place to get something different, but I travel too much (NYC, Japan) to find the selection here anywhere near extensive.

This is a really unique, wonderfully presented boutique shop filled with clothing, toys, stationary, and other items found only on the other side of the pacific.  Staffed with one of the most friendly boutique owners in the city, this place has authentic Japanese paraphernalia that me more than a little nostalgic towards my time in Japan.

I highly recommend this place because Japan has some of the coolest things around and Omoi only stocks the best of it.

Cool little boutique shop stocking a bunch of stuff from Japan that are relatively exclusive to the shop and a lot of stuff you can get elsewhere for less. Ended up with a great reversible hoodie from here as well as some cool journals that I gifted. This place is particularly unique due to the fact that businesses of its ilk are typically reserved for our more "cosmopolitan" sibling city to the north of us.

Goodness, i cannot believe that i had never gone to this place before yesterday. Omoi rules. I have never been surrounded by such cute things ever in a single jam-packed store. Notably, they have THE BEST stationary, and those watches made me drool down the front of my shirt. This place is a gem - i would suggest going if you ever need a gift, for yourself or for others. The girl behind the counter was incredibly friendly and helpful, and made the shopping trip even better. Hurray for Omoi!

I bookmarked Omoi on Yelp before heading to Philly, hoping I could possibly find it in my downtown shopping spree. Serendipity: I pretty much ran right into it within blocks of finding a parking spot! I was very excited. I remained very excited while in the store. I had no one to buy for & was making sure not to spend money on myself just yet, so I didn't purchase anything, but I really wanted to.
Some items of note: those cute little wrapped string dolls (http://kamibashi.com, etc) the salesgirl & I had a great conversation of the adorable factor & versatility of these. Also, hand towels that come packaged looking like cupcakes or rolls, stationary from pricey to very nicely on-sale, felted/ stuffed fruits and mushrooms with faces, some great hip wall art. And that crazy banana character .
You will love this store if you are: 1. Japanese 2. My roommate 3. wish you were Japanese 4. humorous
Only downside, from my view, is the prices- but they are definitely the norm for this type of boutique. Also, if you have too big of a bag (or a friend) its pretty cramped. Again, excusable. Just pretend it's Japan!!

i am thrilled to have found this shop!  omoi is definitely worth a visit for those (particularly females) looking for japanese-language magazines;  there is not a huge variety, but they carry five or six different popular publications, yes, current issues!

there is also a wide array of cute charms (yes, cram cream!), paper goods, deco tape, and i even spotted a few kokeshi dolls!  make sure to explore up the steps into the back room, there are more great clothes, books (quite a few funny ones on current cultures and trends), and home decor accessories.

lastly, the staff was VERY helpful and friendly!  my purchases were also wrapped and packaged carefully.

omoi is a great addition to philly and certainly worth visiting!

p.s. also be sure to browse the clothing, they carry a few hysteric glamour items!!!

when i saw this place being painted -- the bright golden yellow walls set against the black trim made me take notice -- i got so excited to have a real, live boutique in my area. finally stepping into it was like being in the new york i imagined, the one without the snobbishness, the one where the people working there are awesome and interesting.
the owner, liz, is still working her butt of to break even, but her heart and soul is in this place and you can tell. the jeans (kunna) will never fit me, but the tees and jewelry are always unique and eye-catching. liz is almost always a step ahead of the game, getting jewelry designers before urban makes and then breaks them. and if i had a boyfriend, i would take him there to get dressed.

This store is awesome! I went there yesterday and was in awe, everything there is so cute. They have a lot of cute clothing, different japanese stationary and cards, toys, books, my list seems to go on and on... Oh, and Tokidoki! Also, the two women who were working there were very nice, I started talking to one of them about Blythe dolls (it seems from the other reviews that her name is Liz).
