Well, I'm on night 6 and I'm not tired of it yet! I'll certainly be sure to stay at an Omni Hotel in the future. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff makes sure that you want for nothing.
Be sure to sign up to be a Select Guest (free of charge) to get complimentary wireless, a carafe of coffee delivered to your room every morning with a bottled water for the day (two beverages of your choice, and guess what I chose) and your newspaper of choice (NYT, USA Today, the local paper, and others), and two items of clothing pressed free of charge. They're sweet enough to do a "turndown service," where they come in and turn on your TV and leave you a bucket of ice. Not at all necessary, but a nice thought. When USAir lost my luggage, they made sure to give me the usual supplies to get me started until my luggage arrived.
Big bonus: a Starbucks in a land that appears to be devoid of coffee shops. Richmond, if you're hosting a convention with 1,000 scientists, make sure there's a decent cup of coffee! Thank you, Omni! :-)

The lobby is nice though the front desk is positioned in a way that makes it easy to miss. Our bathroom hadn't been given much attention in weeks. The amount of mold on there could probably make someone sick. The caulking around the sink was erroding and the wall heater is missing screws. I also love seeing nothing more than strangers' hairs all over my pillows.
If we'd been staying more than twelve hours, I would have requested a new room.
Top notch the way it should be. The staff was great and unobtrusive, just checked me in in 1 minute flat, the bell hops and valet guys were great and helpful. The room was a bit beat up slightly, but it was acceptable. Breakfast in the restaurant was great one morning.
I stayed here on business, and it was impressive enough to turn me into an Omni-lover.
I would second the review that it was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was really nice. The staff were friendly and helpful. Just outside are a number of restaurants, and the ability to use the YMCA in the same building was excellent.
I became a Select Guest member, and I would recommend it. For free, you get additional benefits such as free WiFI and beverage service in the morning.

Very sweet staff.
Standard lovely Omni rooms.
Still spotlessly clean and classy, staff pleasant and helpful. The Starbucks at ground level is convenient.

Though not as "chi-chi" as the Jefferson and Berkeley, Richmond's two standout hotels, the Omni is well appointed and sparkling clean, the staff is very courteous and helpful (you can tell the Omni trains them well) and the rooms are EXTREMELY comfortable. This is an excellent place to stay, and in the heart of the trendy and beautiful Shockoe Slip neighborhood.

One of my dear friends got married here a few weeks ago and I stayed here during the festivities. During my three day visit, I really got the complete Omni experience and overall, I was impressed. Our room was a nice size- clean with a great view of the city. The ballrooms where the wedding and reception were held were beautifully decorated and spacious enough to accommodate her 250+ guests. The staff members from the bell hop to the manager were very courteous, polite and attentive. I really appreciate great service and the Omni definitely provided that. My friend even told me that the hotel mistakenly threw away the top of her wedding cake (which is traditionally saved for the bride and groom to eat on their one year anniversary) and they paid for her replacement cake. I thought this was an extremely nice gesture. On our last day there, we had the breakfast buffet at the hotel restaurant and everything was delicious! Not sure when I'll be in Richmond again, but I'm definitely a fan of the Omni and will look to stay there in other cities I visit!

The rooms here are a good size and clean, though rather dated. The beds are comfortable and there are plenty of outlets available throughout the room. The water pressure in the shower is good, and they've got a nice big tub, though the towels are a little rough. The location of the hotel is great for me since it's a short walk to work, and it's really close to a lot of restaurants on Carey Street. It will take a little while to get here from the airport, maybe 20 minutes or so, but it was an easy cab ride.
If you are trying to get somewhere downtown, there is a free shuttle that will take you anywhere within a five mile radius of the hotel, and since the Omni is in the heart of the financial District it's a good bet that they can get you where you need to go in the morning. One drawback on that is that there is only one shuttle and its hit and miss as to whether you can catch it.
The hotel does not have its own gym, but as a complimentary service to hotel guests, you can use the YMCA in the same building complex. I would love to tell you how that is, but it closes at 9pm and I never came back from dinner before then. :(
One of my biggest pet peeves with hotels is that they smell funny and that they leave your clothes smelling funny. This is one of those places.

Good, not great, upscale hotel that can be had for pretty cheap via Priceline at the right times, like weekends. Got a nice room for $125 a night that way; normally the rate is at least double that.
Best features:
1. Located downtown in Shockoe Slip, which has about the only open restaurants and nightlife at night downtown Richmond;
2. The health club is a real club, a very modern YMCA within the same building complex, not the cheesy treadmill, stairmaster and 20 yr old universal machine some hotels try to pass off as a gym. Hotels should always just provide privileges at real health clubs, unless they really want to get into the business themselves.
3. Staff eager to please and has that Southern hospitality going for it. Which is nice.

They didnt have the nice flat screen TV like the other Omni!
The room is nice and clean. Staff at the front desk is extremely helpful.
One thing I noticed was the thin door? I keep hearing people closing and walking along the hallway. O well.

Got a room via priceline for $70/night for the holiday weekend, you have to be kidding me. Extremely convenient location within minutes of 95 & the Powhite Parkway. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance.Rooms are nice, clean and relatively large and the staff is courteous and accommodating to a fault. Signing up for their select guest program gets you free Wi-Fi and morning paper.
The downstairs restaurant had a moderately priced breakfast menu and buffet. My wife wasn't crazy about the buffet but the crab & roasted pepper omelet I had was awesome.
I was pretty psyched to use the gym, located in the ajoining James Center, but it's closed on Sundays (!) and Christmas Eve (understandable).

We got a room here through priceline for about $90, and for that it was an exceptionally good deal. The room was nice sized, large comfy bed and a nice sized bathroom. The pool was indoor and not crowded so we even took a swim. I dont know that I would pay full price to stay here. But, all in all the staff was great, the front desk was friendly and we were able to get a shuttle to a concert a few blocks away. The hotel is in a good location, and we had a nice walk back after the show.
On the downside, the valet parking is a little pricey (around $20) and the room service menu (especially the bar menu) was OUTRAGEOUSLY priced.
I would suggest either bringing your own cocktails or heading out of the hotel for drinks!

when it comes to hotels, there is little that i care about more than service
and being dismissed or hung up on when you call the front desk just kinda killed it
the food is mediocre, though inexpensive
the rooms are pretty, but worn down
but the service? is bad

I've stayed here several times on business, and they have never disappointed me. Clean and comfortable, walking distance to numerous bars & restaurants, with outstanding service throughout, this is one of the best properties in downtown Richmond. My last stay was two weeks ago, and I bid $129 on priceline. I saw another Yelper review that got in for a $90 bid. The Omni tends to book full, so I felt good about my deal. One interesting note: They charge $20 per night for valet parking and $21 per night to self-park. Hmmmmm.

All 5 of these stars are for the guy working the front desk at the Omni - I didn't get your name but you're from California (you know who you are). You got me into my room at 10:30am even though check-in wasn't until 3pm. I was able to take a nap until 2pm, you saved me from being a zombie at a wedding that night. Thank you!

A hotel with some of the most courteous staff ever! We loved our stay there and if we return to Richmond we'll stay there again. Very clean and well-run with great rates.
