Me and my kids had a wonderful stay here.  I received a special cheese and cracker plate since they found out I was an employee at that time from Houston but that's not the kicker of the deal.

What I liked was they had the "kids" package ready waiting for my kids in the room even  without me requesting or knowing.  The beds are very soft with all of the sheets, pillows and comforters.

High definition TV.  I don't get that at home, plus!
    Indoor and outdoor pool, plus!
Outdoor movie was  playing for everybody to watch while in the pool. Plus!
Friendly staff (I know this was a standard and you were monitored closely while on duty, I know this because I too worked for the same company).
Reasonably  priced breakfast buffet.  Where I worked it was $20.  Here was like $17.

Con:.  THE SLOWEST FREAKING  ELEVATORS that you probably have ever waited on in your life!  I  read this as a complain from other reviews and shrugged  it off until I too was  stuck in the lobby looking awkward at incoming people piling up in  front of  the  doors to get in.  You guys really might want to see into getting that fixed.  Luckily we were only on the 4th floor, guess who got their early morning exercise?

These rooms I think average around $150  but if your an  employee with the company it's $50.

Thank you staff at the Omni Austin S. P.  You made me proud to have been part of your team.

(p.s., I am no longer employed with Omni Hotels and Resorts but will always remain a fan).

My friend and I brought our chirrens along for a kid-friendly weekend.  Hotel was conveniently located and parking was free.  Rooms were clean and fine.  The beds were like clouds.  Nice lobby.  Although I didn't venture past the quesadillas (shrimp then veggie), the room service (also poolside) food was fine.

We were on a budget, so we decided to kick it at the pool on Day 2.  Good idea cuz the pool is HUGE...complete with an indoor hot tub, pool and sauna.  Oop, then here comes the reggae music, cabana boys and BBQ grill.  We made a wise choice!  They served cool towels which was a nice touch cuz it was an insane 105F outside.

They even had a kiddo room where they can make crafts, color, watch movies, play Wii, etc. all supervised by staff.

For the price ($125/night), it was awesome.

    Would stay here again!

This Omni Hotel is literally 10-minutes from downtown Austin.

The room we stayed in was old-school stuffy, but clean. (I've yet to see one of their renovated rooms.) Our flatscreen didn't appear to be HD, but that could have just been because I'm horrible at operating AV equipment. The entertainment selection was quite random, and the remote's button layout made it far too easy to accidentally buy a movie. (Be sure to press your keys slowly; the front desk happily removed the movie we bought from our bill.) Considering how close the hotel is from downtown, and what it came with, the room was a good value.

Join their Omni Select Guest program - it's free! - to get perks during your stay, including free Wi-Fi and coffee delivered to your door every morning.

Business partner and I stayed there in April of 2011. Excellent service, accommodation and pool. Friendly staff and generally a nice hotel. Worth the extra $20-30 you may save on a motel.

The room and hotel were one of the better parts of our trip. Would recommend to anyone with a $100 a night (total) budget!

I stay here so often that I don't think there's anything I don't know about this property. It has the best pool in the city, the best fitness center in a hotel and a great staff. The room service desserts are a great deal too - $4 for some seriously evil chocolate cake has me every time. Definitely check out the bar too.

I stayed at the Omni - Southpark on a recent business trip.  The hotel was very nice and the staff was incredibly friendly.  Internet is an additional charge, there are no vending machines for midnight snacks and the decor is out of date.  Electric sockets were tricky when plugging in the coffee maker, I almost thought it was broken, but worked when I plugged into a different socket.  There was melted ice in the ice bucket left over from the last guest.

The bed was dreamy, the pillows abundant and soft, the room nice and quiet in spite of being located right next to I-35.

I had dinner in the lounge at the bar.  I know it's nit-picky, but the crab sliders did not come with mache greens as stated on the menu, but baby lettuces instead.  Still super delicious.  Bartender was very friendly, but unobtrusive.

The TV was big and modern, with lots of channels.

As a female traveling alone, I felt secure the entire time.

I will stay here again, but will remember to bring my bag of popcorn for the late night snacky snacks.

I can provide a complement to Jaire Q's and Kristie A's reviews; they were able to comment on a lot of the Omni's services but not the pool. The pool is all I can talk about.

It was nice and big. The deepest part is 5 feet, though, so no diving. But it is an interesting smile shape, with the hook at one end leading into a covered area. This part of the pool is indoor. The building also houses the hot tub (nice and bubbly, but WAY too chlorinated) and a dry sauna (we got it up to 170 degrees before I had to get out).

Nice lounge chairs, constantly replenished towel service, a bar close by in the lobby and even a few inner tubes to play on.

I guess the worst thing I could say about the place is that there were tons of little kids around. Nothing ruins a romantic swim like a swarm of crumb-crunchers. Ugggh.

I stayed at the Omni South Park over the Fathers Day weekend, as the wife and I needed a decent extended weekend away from Dallas. First, I was able to find an amazing deal via Omni's website, which ended up being around 100/bucks night for a room w/balcony, which I was able to pre-pay. I also joined Omni Select Guest(for free!), which gets you quite a few decent perks (Free WiFi, Comp AM Bev Service), which the latter I will cover in a moment.

Amenities: The facilities (pool/gym) were pretty decent for the property and a welcomed respite when we returned from our long day trips down to New Braunfels and SA.  I do agree with a few of the other posters, the hottub was a little over-chloroniated for my liking, but elsewise the pool and sauna were excellent.

The Room: The TV could use some updating to flatscreen/HD, as it was still a older unit, The bed, however, was amazing and I fell fast asleep everytime my head hit the pillow. Shower in the bathroom had excellent water pressure, only drawback was the sink had a small leak, but it was workable.

Room Service: We had comp AM bev service due to the aeformentioned Select Guest membership. We also had breakfast on our first morning, which wasnt too shabby and was delivered to our bed by an amazing member of staff who was both polite and cheerful!(I would be for 14 bucks/plate LOL) My only drawback was due to bev services on sunday morning of our stay, as our water for tea was barely lukewarm and not even notified of its delivery. After we talked with staff, they corrected the issue and I was satisfied.

All in all, not a bad property in So. Austin, Once the minor kinks are worked out, it'll be five stars all the way

I dont want to seem like the person who has dogged places I have worked, because honestly I dont... But I feel the need to tell the truth about places and let the people know really what goes on behind closed doors....

Omni Austin @ Southpark, one of the older Omni hotels which was bought out from the Wyndem years ago has yet to go through a full rennovation since those times. Over time, some managers have gone in and made impactable changes, but unfortunately for the hotel they are no longer there. The conference halls are okay... make sure you review the property before you decide to book...

The restaurant, which is in DIRE need of a revamp from it's 70's brass and run down buffet, only offers staff that have been there for years and although some of them are great to work with, some of them act as though it is a denny's and are more concerned with getting you in and out than explaining the menu to you. The Pm crew changes constantly, if you are ordering off the menu, please ask for details.
The best thing I could say about the restaurant was that the pasta bar buffet for lunches was a really great discounted deal. I would highy recommend it, but with the addition of a new chef, that buffet might be gone now.

Sweetwater's - the old bar that used to sell the finest cigars is now more of a hole in the wall hang out and doesnt get as much attention as it needs... I pushed and pushed for a pool table while I was there, and I think they recently added it. The Lobby bar is very unique, sunk into the ground and allows patrons to have a quick cocktail when they arrive before heading to their rooms... The bartenders at both of these bars are superb. Very talkative and do their best to accomodate for your needs. I would recommend asking for Sandra or Chris while you are there. Anyone can visit the bars and restaurants in hotels, regardless if you are a guest or not, go check it out, but the prices are a bit steeper in hotels.

The rooms.... where to begin, the rooms ALL need to be revamped. I stayed in this hotel twice, and both times, I got slightly sick from the mold in the walls... Austin is notorious for mold, but they dont do anything to try and fix it or even hide it. If you were to pull down some wallpaper you might even visably see it.... I dont recommend doing this, they may charge you a repair charge. While checking in to your room, check everything... the showers, the faucets, the tvs, everything.... if anything seems out of place, not working, uncomfortable, ASK TO SWITCH ROOMS.... Although the engineering department does its best to accomodate for all repairs, they are so backed up with this old hotel that sometimes it takes a while. If the hotel has the room, they will just move you.

I would book through the hotel rather than on one of the discounted websites... the rates are usually the same, sometimes even cheaper just through the hotel. I would personally stay at the Omni Downtown and head to southpark just to check out the bars......

I live in Austin a mere 10 minutes away so no I have not been sleeping here. But, I have been here at least once a week for the past 4 years so I feel qualified to review based on my experience here.

Full disclosure: I am contracted to care for the plants in this hotel.

I love the staff and guests here! The guests make me feel like a rock star er Plant Star - constantly praising and thanking me for all the beautiful plants and asking for my expert advice on their plants. And they do have lots of plants decorating all areas including every elevator bay and the suites. I could write on and on about how much I LOVE the staff. Every employee I have encountered here is super up beat, happy and enthusiastic and it is contagious. I love my Omni account and to top it off they always play great music - often old R&B and Jazz!

I have stayed at some of the best 5 star hotels in the states and I would not include The Omni among them but for Austin they are up there.

They have the largest outdoor / indoor pool in Austin, a Spa, a Sauna, and a good sized workout room and a great restaurant and cafe that I have eaten at frequently. The Lobby has 2 flat screen TVs and a Bar for passing the time.

The Hotel is dog friendly under 25LBS but they obviously do not restrict larger dogs because during Katrina and Ike I saw LOTS of BIG Dogs. A special thanks to the Omni for allowing evacuees and their Big Dogs a place to stay!

If you need a hotel close to the airport and close to downtown I would recommend the Omni South Park. And they offer free shuttle service to and from the airport!

Stayed in this hotel for the Capitol city salsa festival. When we made it there at about 10pm, parking was impossible. They do have complementary valet parking, but we decided not to use it. We actually parked at the Courtyard hotel across the street. The lobby is very nice. There were a lot of sitting areas with very nice furniture. The rooms, however, were very small. It was surprising that there was no vanity outside the bathroom. I guess I have been spoiled by the Hiltons. Instead of two queen beds, there were two full size beds in the room. The room was very compact, but I guess they did that in order to save space. Thankfully, I am not claustrophobic, but if you are.. stay elsewhere.

From the hotel window, I could see the beautiful swimming pool and the hot tub. I would had loved to use either, but it was too cold and I forgot my swimsuit. I believe there was an indoor hot tub as well. I think the hotel is nice, and if need it be, I would stay there again.

During NYE, we decided to extend our vacation and stay an extra night, which we did so at this hotel.  I love this hotel!  Free parking, free wifi, and awesome customer service.

Upon checking in, we were asked if we would like a refrigerator rolled in our room since we had groceries with us.  There's nothing like accommodation when it's offered to you unexpectedly.  Although the hotel could use some updates in the decoration department, it was clean and the staff was overall pretty friendly.  Even the other guests were friendly.  They have an indoor heated pool, gym and sauna, which exceeded my expectations.  The temperature in the gym was colder than the 45 degree weather that day and although they made an attempt to fix it, I think they needed to call in a professional.  Other than that mishap, everything else was great.

I think this hotel has gone through a remodeling since the last review a few years ago. There's still a lot of bronze throughout the property, and there is some wear and tear throughout the hotel, most noticeably in the elevators.

The room was an average size for an Omni business class hotel.  The furnishings are also typical Omni--a lot of dark wood and leather, much more of a classical design. My room was pretty dark and the ceiling felt really low.  Service also matched what you would expect from an Omni property...excellent.

I actually booked this hotel through Priceline and got a great rate, $45.  I think, though, I might have been given a room for cheap ass Priceline customers like myself.  The air conditioner didn't work all that well, and I could never get the room cooler than 72 degrees. The little end table in the room was noticeably lopsided and looked like it had come from some south Austin flea market.  The hotel is right on 35 and traffic is noticeable, even on the higher floors, and I was on the end of the building closest to the highway. Stick it to the Priceline customer.

There is a nice pool and spa area, and room service was prompt, but expensive.

Generally, I was pleased with my stay and would probably book here again.

This is my favorite hotel in Austin other than the Hotel San Jose. The service is spectacular. The food at the Onion Grill is above average. I love the pool and gym. The bar and lobby area are a nice hang-out. If you think you're too far from the "center" of Austin think again--it's only a 10 minute ride away. Thanks for my recent stay for SXSW, you made it stellar.

My wife and I stayed at the Omni for our anniversary weekend, which also lands upon Mother's Day weekend.  Jeremy was simply awesome in helping us get checked in, informing us of the amenities, and coordinating the delivery of a floral arrangement (unknown to my wife at the time) to the room.  The bed was very comfortable, the TV was nice, and overall, we had a great experience with the hotel.

The only negative things I can say is that there is hard water (maybe it's something about Austin?  Other places around it had hard water as well) and the room could use some black out curtains of some sort.  Other than that, everything was thumbs up.

Also, try out the breakfast at the hotel's Onion Creek Grill.  Excellent!

This is the best hotel and pool in deep south Austin. Very ok food, good bar and close to the highway.
A cool feature at this hotel is if you get a "north view" and high up, you can see the millions of downtown bats flying past the hotel at dusk.

I have no complaints about this hotel.  It's conveniently located a few miles outside of downtown Austin.  We didn't spend much time in the room other than to get checked in, and to sleep.  I have two major requirements when I stay in a hotel.  Comfy beds, and good water pressure in the shower.  The Omni delivered on both of those.  Had the weather been nice I would have loved to check out the pool area.  Or had we had more time I would have loved to have a few cocktails in the bar of the hotel lobby.  I think the room for two double beds came to around $140ish for a night on Expedia, so not bad at all.  I would definitely stay here again.

I have stayed in the Omni South Park approx 8 times in the past 6 months. The place is nice, but not that nice. I did thoroughly enjoy the pool area that was a nice way to cool down in the summer, sipping a margarita. The rooms are small. The bathrooms are nice though with granite countertops. I did also enjoy their custom body care products and the complimentary robes. Their breakfast is to f**king die for!!! If you can book your room with an add on breakfast for two for like $10 extra dollars, DO IT...trust me! Every item on their breakfast menu is wonderful, minus the hot cocoa which they serve without added sweatener (you must add your own sugar). And be sure to get a room with a balcony. This is an added plus.

I just stayed here for 5 nights and would rate it as an ok place to stay if you priceline it (i did). I had a bit of trouble with hot water during weekday mornings and the jacuzzi also had hot water problems. Besides that, the rooms were clean and it was perfect for what I needed. It was a 5 minute drive to downtown Austin. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. I wouldn't stay here for the retail prices, but if you book through a discounted website, it's functional and a good value.

I am giving this hotel a five star review, because for us, in our situation it fully deserved five stars. It was an ideal situation for our family.  We stayed there for a full month while our home was under construction, so we saw a lot.  I didn't see any of the reviews talk about the awesome Kid Suite at the Omni.  Google it and you will see that it is a beautiful PBK room that connects to a king sized bedroom for the parents.  The staff was amazing.  One of our daughters has special needs, and the other daughter is a very difficult and picky eater, so the staff let us use a microwave and refrigerator at no extra charge.  That, plus the wet bar in the room, gave us all we needed for extra snacks. Let me tell you some of the wonderful things the staff did for us. When we first checked in, the staff brought our daughters milk and cookies, Omni Kids backbacks (including toys and games). As soon as we got into the Kid Suite, (someone else was in it at first) the staff brought our daughters each a thoughtfully selected basket of goodies, including their own teddy bears and bubbles. The room was stocked with games for kids and PBK table and chairs. Even the bathroom was decorated for kids. And you know those elegant robes they have for adults at the Omni?  Well, in the Kid Suite the kids get their own little robes.

Yes, that was great, but outdoors was even better. The yard is fenced, it has a great pool, and a sand pile.  There is a little store. The incredible staff actually opened the little store in the middle of the night when our daughter was sick and needed ibuprofen.

Even though we had a little kitchen, we called room service a lot... almost daily. They never disappointed us. In fact, one of the room service waiters was so outstanding that she learned our daughter's preferences -- preferences so difficult that her own grandmothers have given up.  The breakfast buffet was delicious. The food was fresh and yummy, and the waiters were wonderful to our children. There is a full selection of newspapers -- not just USA Today -- but WSJ, NYT, and the local AAS. They had warm apple cider set up every day. The staff was wonderful, and small problems were immediately remedied.  We were under a stressful situation, but the Omni at South Park smoothed the difficult road for us and made everything better.  Parking and Wifi were free, the staff was nice, and they even allowed our yorkie to come with us.  So that's why I am giving this place five stars!  It's not glamourous, but for families, it is a wonderful and solid alternative in a great location.

PS: early  in our stay the televisions were upgraded to fantastic HDTVs.

We recently spent one night at the Omni South Park for a family gathering nearby, and generally found it to be a good, if not great, hotel. My wife any I were traveling with our 2 year old son.

    The positives:
    - For a hotel of this order, we got a very good deal, although it was through http://Hotwire.com (we did not know the hotel we were getting before the purchase - only the rough location and class), but got the room for half off the online rates we found online.
    - The swimming pool and gym were both very welcome, spacious and well-designed.
    - All of the staff we encountered were helpful, knowledgeable and courteous.
    - Excellent beds, mattresses and bedding.
    - After becoming an Omni Hotels Select Guest online (for free), we were provided various complimentary services, such as free wi-fi access (normally $10/day I believe), two free morning complimentary beverages each, and other freebies.
    - Various high quality toiletries provided.
    - We had requested a portable crib for our son, and it was provided quickly upon request, and already made up with linens, with an extra set for good measure. I am repeatedly disappointed by other hotels (some of the 4-star variety) that do not set up the crib, and do not provide any sheets to go with it. Would that be acceptable for the main bed in the room - just a mattress and bare pillows?
    - We were able to check-in early in the day, around 12:30pm.
    - Free parking.
    - A play area is provided by the pool for kids with a basketball court, sandbox and other games.
    - The hotel is conveniently located near two freeways for quick access to downtown Austin - a 5 minute drive.

    The negatives:
    - Although a positive in terms of accessibility, the hotel is located near two freeways, so no view to speak of, and the location leaves something to be desired.
    - Some of the areas seemed like they could have used a little upkeep. The bathroom seemed outdated.

Overall this would qualify as a 4-star hotel for business purposes, but the freeway location makes it slightly less that ideal for pleasure trips. We do still recommend it for either case, however.
