A nice place to take advantage of free wi-fi for a few hours, but the Indian factor here is pretty fake! Besides the silky pillows and couple of Ganesha statues on the wall, nothing here is Indian! Went on a Saturday afternoon and there were almost no pastries in their case, although they did have a selection of sandwiches and fresh (bottled) juices. The iced vanilla latte was not bad, but I definitely wouldn't go back here for the food or drinks. Just a place to get comfy and study for a while.
My beef with Om Cafe is based more on principle than the coffee and pastries they serve. Om is nothing more than a trend-- they pass themselves off as a healthy and conscious coffee shop, yet all of their drinks are made with those Costco sized buckets of syrup.
Indeed it is an intimate space, and the decor is nice, but being in there puts me in a bad mood. Too many aspiring Yogis, and every experience I've had has been full of the attitude that I hope to avoid in an independent coffee shop. Very disappointing.

Aside from the extremely uncomfortable furniture, Om is a great place to work, surf the internet, socialize, and wait to do your laundry, since there is a laundromat right next door.
A lot of regulars, including myself make the place very interesting. Everyone is very nice, open to conversation, and very down to earth. Coffee is the same as anywhere else, except at a better price.
All of the staff is excellent and very personable. They definitely deserve way more in tips.
Don't go for the food, although they do provide prepackaged, hummous, tabouli, and a few vegetarian/vegan options. None are great, but provide quick bites if you're working. The pastries are delivered fresh daily, but I have no idea what they taste like.
Parking is terrible, but once you find one, it's worth it. It's a great spot to read, talk, or just drink coffee out of the sun.

I like this neighborhood coffee shop. If I lived nearby, I'm sure I'd be there more often. For now, I like to hang here with some tea while I wait for the Hollywood traffic to die after work. The lights are dim, the mood is mellow and there are always plenty of comfortable seats to relax in. Their food is pretty delicious, too. Premade vegan wraps, sandwhiches and salads at wallet friendly prices.
I have to say, I was disappointed when I went into Om today. I have been on the hunt for a chill coffeehouse, where you can work and sip coffee, and occasionally chat with your neighbors. I live in west hollywood and was hoping Om would be that.. but it really lacked any ambiance whatsoever. The coffee was alright. But the vibe was just lacking. I left after 45 minutes. I would rather be in my own house..in my own space. I think the owner was in when i came in- and didn't even make eye contact or greet customers- nothing. it makes no sense that a place called "OM" would be so lacking in a peaceful authentic vibe. Yuk. Hollar if you know any good places in the laurel canyon/ w hollywood area.
Not a bad place.Coffee isn't bad, food is average. Some of it tastes stale.Very small and cramped. Free wifi, however. I wish they'd get better furniture. If I didn't live down the street I probably would never go. Then again, I haven't really been in a while either.............
This place makes me so freakin happy. I may be biased, I am Indian afterall. It is definately tucked in a small shop, with a reasonable variety of snacks. But that isn't where the magic is at. I would say the magic is rather subtle; it sneaks up on you and covers you like a warm blanket.
I am also drawn to the authenticity of the place. The decor is real Indian decor, by a real Indian, however, it is not up in your face. The staff there are all really nice as well.
This coffee shop is definately on the quiet tip, I usually go there to read or study, as do most of the people there. There are a fair share surfing the internet, as they have free internet connection. But my most favorite thing is that virtually no one talks on their cell phones there. There is no rule or sign, it is just understood at this particular coffee shop. The sense of calm that brings coupled with the cozy ambiance makes it worth, the sometimes difficult parking.

OM Cafe and Tea Lounge is a small quaint lounge on Fountain between Fairfax, and Crescent. If you live in the area, then it is a must visit. But then again if you live nearby then you certainly already know all about it.
Don't live next door to it you say? Well then, treat yourself and drop in. The cafe serves yummy tea, and I am sure the coffee is just as good, (I am not a coffee drinker). Assorted pastry goods are available to snack on as well. They have a large cushioned "couch" that is a dream to sit/lounge/spread out on and read or surf the net while enjoying the free wireless. There is always warm and refreshing music playing and the staff is friendly, and to be honest very cute.
Right next door is even a laundry mat, so take a trip and get some clean underwear and caffeine; makes a great combo! Bonus points for being open until 1a.m. even on weeknights...

The location is great (I live two blocks away) but unless I'm able to nab one of only two decent sized tables, I don't like to write here. I wish they'd trade in the cushion/bench doodad and tiny tables for more full-sized furniture. The hot-tea and iced tea (my drink of choice) are good; the baked goods, only so-so. I like that the staff lacks LA attitude; but they're also pretty slow behind the counter. The free Wi-Fi is great and the eye candy coming in and walking by is a nice distraction. Bottom line -- if it weren't so close, I probably wouldn't go here -- but in the neighborhood, it's a good mom-and-pop choice.

Thx to Kevin F., I tried Om out today for my Sunday paper ritual. It's miniscule, but cozy with decent lattes (haven't tried the loose leaf teas yet but look forward to it) and friendly staff. The wall couch certainly looks inviting, but I don't think I'm ready to make that leap yet. They do have wifi, but can't remember if it was free or not (didn't have my laptop with me...SORRY!!! I know that's probably the most important piece of info).
It's open until 1 AM too so a great place to get some work done for night owls such as myself. But the space is small, so I don't know how crowded it gets, but if it was like this afternoon, it was perfect. I found easy parking on Fountain. The surrounding streets are permit though.
They sell pastries and cakes from Sweet Lady Jane's and a scattered small assortment of Meditarrenean snacks (hummus, tabouli, etc). I suppose you can never really go wrong with a treat from SLJ. The bagels looked like they might have been from a package you buy out of a freezer at CostCo...they may need to work on that (psst....get your bagels from the Bagel Broker!).
Looks like I've added one more place to my coffee/tea place arsenal.

This place is freakin' amazing. Yes - it's small. Yes- its hard to find parking, especially during the week; why it took me four months to finally get my butt here.
But the redeeming factors far outweigh the bad.
Factor #1 - staff is friendly, knows what there are doing and is not pretentious
Factor #2 - The place has a "newness" quality about it inside. Not your normal rugged coffee-shop atmosphere.
Factor #3 - Best yet, there is a couch/bench/meditation area, where you can chill out with your caffeine and laptop, or what have you.
Factor #4 - great place to wait while doing laundry next door.
can't say it has the best coffee ever, but pretty lovable place for its cozy and inviting atmosphere. parking sucks as any other block in west hollywood, but wouldn't matter if you live within walking distance.
has free wireless connection, ceiling fans instead of air-conditioning which i love the most about this place and very nice service.
perfect place to wait your laundry next door.
