Excellent spot to grab a cocktail. It reminds me a bit of the famous Coq d'Or in Chicago's Drake Hotel - you've gone back in time to the days of fine cocktails in classy hotel lounges... except Oliver's is above ground with great windows looking onto the street.

For those of you who missed the article in the Seattle Times, Oliver's just celebrated it's 35th anniversary. In honor of this occasion they (insanely) opened up their doors to the public and had free food and incredibly cheap drinks ($3.50 a pop). It was absolute chaos with the amount of people there. I felt like I was in Pamplona at the running of the bulls. That said, the food was great and endless and the drinks were awesome. They had a lot of their signature drinks to offer. I loved the Oliver's Royale. The service was amazing. I have no idea how they did it, but they all kept a smile and were so kind throughout the event even with all the craziness. For a normal evening it looked like they have ample seating and a nice ambiance. I'll definitely be back to try it out in a less chaotic setting.

Ugh.... I came in at 11:30, ordered a sandwich and soup and the waitress comes out ten minutes later telling me that there were six orders before me and that it's going to be a while. It's a sandwich.
Is there a --- 5 star? -

Really good bar. Very laid back atmosphere and everyone ewas really cool.
Seating is quite quick and it can be alot quicker if you sit at the bar for which I did so I can watch all the people in the rain freezing while I'm nice and toasty.
Unreal drinks and martinis. Several Lemondrops and the bartender and I were best friends since childhood. I can't even remember his name.
They make a good moscow mule that my wife saw on Oprah. Since when did Oprah promote drinking on her show? It contains ginger beer and at first i was thinking this is going to horrible but after a taste it actually is refreshing. It's that type of drink which would be good on a hot day and you just want something good and quenching. Kind of like gatorade but with alcohol.
Prices are decent and comparible to everywhere else so don't fuss. Just drink. -

a solid place. the lunch menu at first i thought was a bit limited, but it's pretty much got everything you might want to have. i was in the mood for something else that i can't remember right now. i got the Oliver's Pizza which is a simple pepperoni pizza. i asked for crushed red pepper and parmesan and after dousing those littler buggers in them, i was ready to go. yes, plural buggers because you get TWO. like those commercials in the 80's for little cesar's pizza. they gimmick was "pizza pizza". you got 2 pizza's that seemed like they amounted to the same mass of one pizza at a competitor.
you can get fancy with crab cakes and salad, or you can keep it semi-real with a $10 burger. i can't remember the exact price, but it's one of those expensive burgers.
the cocktails are supposed to be really good.
and i wanna come back and try the free appetizers at happy hour. -

My love of Oliver's began six months ago when my fiance and I were trying to register at Macy's. No one told us how stressful registering is. After half an hour we needed a stiff cocktail to bolster our spirits. But where to get an adult beverage downtown at 4pm on a Sunday? Cue Oliver's miraculous arrival in our lives. Shining like a tastefully understated beacon of booze, right across the street from Macy's, it was a gift sent from the Booze Angels. (Yes, Virginia, they do exist.)
I love everything about this bar. It's close to work. It's ambience is classy without making you feel like a schlub for being in jeans. The cocktail waitress is a professional. The bartender is even better. The house cocktail list is inventive and delicious. I routinely find myself craving a "Silver Belles" in the middle of the day. Try a Silver Belles and if you don't like it, the next Oliver's cocktail is on me. -

Cocktails, Martini's... you'll get your fix here.
The drinks are inventive, intriguing, and eyeopening... literally.
I stopped into this place on our indulgence tour and they started us off, at 10 in the morning, with a baileys, espresso type of martini. Apparently, it's one of their best sellers. All the drinks have more ingredients than your martini-maker list make room for... BUT you have to come here and try them. And not just the ladies either; a good martini can suit anyone.
The atmosphere is a little bit uppity, but in a casual/friendly way. They have a very high class feel, though. It is a hotel after all. I guess, the second most frequented hotel in the state of Washington. Get that!
So maybe... after your three hard core cocktails, you'll be able to grab a room here and pass out for the night - ya' light weights!
Sweet fixer, from a martini mixer? Yes... -

WOW! What a fabulous bar we discovered on Friday night! It's dark, romantic and conveniently located near where we were staying that night. The place is totally laid back and quiet with gorgeous decor. The bartender was SO knowledgeable, outgoing and made some truly awesome drinks. He would take one look at us and then make up a drink he thought we'd like. He sure did get it right. I had such a great time at this bar!

Friendly server/bartender.
Below average food.
Pre-packaged, vinegar-y crab cakes were the biggest disappointment of our meal.
Probably a nice place to stop in for a drink and some quiet conversation. Not the place to expect a great (or even average) meal.
Lesson learned. -

Shhhhh puhLEASE don't mention it because I go here to be alone amongst strangers but this is my absolute #1 fave bar in Seattle shhhhhh
Bartender always remembers me - even though I swear I've never seen him/her before. The scene out of the window,,, the view... the faraway thoughts... the EVERYTHING.
Oliver's is where go away to a different century. It's old school, with old school values, and only slightly new school presentation. Customer service is not dead. Murray at Zig Zag knows it, and these guys, thought they don't pretend to be the same breed of mixologist, these guys revel in classic service. Everyone is #1 glamour fabulous wonderful worthy.
And free dry roasted peanuts might seem like your friend but really they are your downfall. Mark. My. Words!!! -

This is one of those old standards! You can always find a table, you can always get a drink and the drinks are always great!
We went there on Saturday afternoon for a couple cocktails while waiting for someone to check out of the Mayflower hotel. WE had Lemoncello Cosmos, a lemondrop and the amazing Creme L'orange. One of the best drinks I have ever had!
I wish we had gotten our waitress' name she was really funny, had a great personality and was a ton of fun!
She reccommended that we try a couple restaurants for lunch.
We took her reccomendation for 94 stewart. I will have to speak to her about that!

Stopped by on Wednesday for a couple drinks w/ my girlfriend. I was in the mood for a martini, and right there at the top of the cocktail menu was exactly what I was looking for. She was in the mood for a bloody mary, and they had one w/ bacon flavored vodka which I thought was pretty funny. It is served w/ a slice of bacon and the sip I took was surprisingly (I don't like bacon) good!
After our first drinks, one of the bartenders (I didn't catch his name) recommended a manhattan, which he mixed up perfectly. I like a really good manhattan, but it has to be really good. My girlfriend really hates manhattans, and it doesn't matter how good they are, but after I insisted she try a sip of this one, even she admitted how good it was. So already you know it was awesome.
Her second drink was called a Paradigm Shift, I believe. She asked the bartender for something not too sweet, and he recommended this. After trying it, she described it as "the best drink I've ever had." It was delicious for sure. Not too sweet w/ the perfect amount of tanginess.
To be honest, I really fell in love w/ this place. I loved hearing Frank Sinatra playing on the stereo at the perfect volume, I loved being able to look out the window and see the rain fall, I loved the bartenders knowledge and attentiveness, I loved the free peanuts...I really love this place!
I would -and will- recommend Oliver's to all my friends, and hope everyone gets a chance to stop by. -

Oliver's at the Mayflower Park Hotel is a good place to unwind. I sipped drinks and nibbled at leisure like a welcome sport. And if it wasn't for the music, the decor would be considered tense.

So disappointed. I had heard many things about this place: "Award-winning drinks", "Frank Sinatra would totally go here", etc.
DISPROVED.
Guess what, everyone? Denny's is still in Seattle; it just moved into the Mayflower! Boring drinks, filthy atmosphere, bartenders yelling at barbacks in front of clientele...
I will go to Oliver's again... when I'm 89 years old. -

So I was expecting a BAR-bar. You know, with FUN PEOPLE in it. But apparently it was hotel bar with quite... how should I say... "mature" people.
Why the 5 stars... well let's see:
We were initially served water and peanuts. WHAT BAR DOES THIS THESE DAYS? Very classy. Classic drinks... and I ALWAYS order a Vodka/tonic and a dirty martini as a test to see how great a bar is... and this place did a great job with the both. Perfect amount of Vodka and tonic, and olive juice for the other.
And shall I say, the bar tender had a heavy hand that evening like he "worked out" his right hand too much the night before. The waitress was so attentive to our needs and even offered us a "recipe" for one of their special drinks!!! What a great bar. Amazing drinks... amazing service... all worth the money spent. -

You wouldn't suspect this place of being great from the street because it's a hotel bar - but it's a secret find. Comfortable/cozy, good place to grab a drink after work downtown, good place to go for a quick drink with a date.
It has the feel of a bar that's been around for a century, super friendly bartenders, and most important - great cocktails.
And of course, one of our favorites on their menu: The BLT (Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato) - served with a slice of bacon!Listed in: Where to find Bakon Vodka

This hotel bar has great drinks, comparable prices, and seating on a Friday night between happy hour and party time. I went with two friends at about seven p.m. and we got great service, even though we're all under forty and were obvious first-timers.
It may be for "old, dour people" but you won't be treated poorly if you're not one. -

If you like martini's come here.
If you like cocktails come here.
Hands down the best drinks I've ever had. I highly recommend the paradigm shift. It's a not so sweet but slightly tart balanced martini. Seriously delicious.
The drinks are over the top, but I'd say the atmosphere is a close second. It's a casual relaxing place to just sit, drink, chat and eat peanuts. (yummy salty peanuts) It's not a scene.... If anything I'd compare it to like a library.. if you could drink, talk and eat at library. It's calm.. but classy.
A+ for drinks.
A+ for atmosphere.
I can't say anything for the food; as I usually use this as a staging place before going to a place like Palace Kitchen. -

Baby, you gotta have style and this place has it. It's dark but not too dark and loud with the clink of martini glasses. And although there is no music, it's almost guaranteed you'll hear Dean Martin songs in your head. Or perhaps, the theme from James Bond. Either way, after a few minutes at the bar, you'll epitomize raffish cool and possess panache in spades.
So booze it up, because they make a great martini, and I'm not the only one saying that. They won some international something-or-other award eight years in a row, and a bunch of local Seattle awards (not just the crap CitySearch ones).
It's a magical place where you'll still look like class personified when you stumble out the door on the way to catch your cab. By yourself, you're a formidable talent, but when you join forces with Oliver's, you'll show everyone what chemistry is really all about. Because, let's be honest, who couldn't use a little help looking like class personified? -

This is what a hotel bar should be. Lovely mellow woody ambience. Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin in the background. Fantastic Martini's & mixed drinks. The bartenders are super, attentive and expert at their mixing. My wife loved their LemonDrop Martini & I just kept to my classics which were xlnt.
Additionally, the bonus is that their menu is from the Hotel Mayflower's restaurant Andaluca & just xlnt. We had an amazing burger w/steak fries & lovely Tuscan Tomato soup. If you're looking for 'action' & a hip young pick up scene, this is not that place, but it most certainly is a warm comfy & great example of a Great American Bar. -

I don't go here often, but when I'm downtown and wanting to feel adult and drink some Scotch or a really good Martini, Oliver's fits the bill. Now, I'm not big on cocktails, but if you are the bartenders are up to the challenge. They take quite a bit of pride in their work. The interior is dark wood paneling and the place is quite comfortable with some good people watching opportunities from your perch at the bar.

Yes. Oliver's is a haven for old, dour people. But, after just one Stolichnaya Cristall classic martini, you won't care.

It's a hotel bar that's more elegant and less trendy than Edgewater. Good place to go after an afternoon of shopping. Unless you're really out of money, in which case hie thee to Belltown, by the old Speakeasy locale.

I first went here years ago because of their reputed martinis, which are really good. I branched out this visit and drank a French 75 with cognac and a French Kiss. The French 75 was great, and the French Kiss was a good dry alternative. An extra bonus was the free peanuts.

Lovely spot. Good drinks. It's a more "grown-up" place, which is a great thing in my book. The ambiance is just right whether you're there to visit with friends or having a cocktail with your dinner date.

I fell asleep here. No music, no crowd [except some folks my grandparents age], and a rather older woman who kept giving me mean looks like I didn't belong. Don't bother.

Ever since I moved to Seattle I've been going to Olivers. Best people watching in the city from the bar top, prompt and welcoming service with a relaxed old school charm. Get the burger or the spinach dip and was it down with a Paradigm Shift and their Guilded Manhattan.

Very very nice as hotel bars go. Great wine list and interesting snacks on the menu. A welcome respite from some of the other downtown bars.

The food, drinks and service here are decent....and the prices are comparable to other downtown bars. But it surprised me that my group of 5 friends couldn't pay with multiple credit cards -- their system doesn't accept more than 3. So, we had to shuffle and figure out who would pay what......not a very good "customer experience."
