If you have to wait, it sucks. But go when you know you likely won't have to wait and it'll be just fine. The guys that go waiting in line for hours are stupid,

Got put in a room which was FREEZING! Kept my coat on most of the meal, as did half the other patrons in the room! Took about 15 minutes for someone to just come get our drink order. By then, we were ready to order and did. The salad they brought for the two of us was barely enough for one person. I hate to ask for more, but we had to. Meals were as expected and up to par with most OG's. Waitress was very friendly, when around, but overall experience was less then average. And that's being kind!

The "TWO" stars are only for the salad and breadsticks.....which mind you are unlimited!!
I went here last week with my friend before a movie. It was freezing outside! So we were very excited to run inside and warm up! They put us in some back room where it was about 50 degrees! I was so cold I had to eat with my jacket on the entire time.
We asked several times for them to put the heat on. Finally, we asked for a manager to put the heat on. Which he finally came over and told us he did...BUT, he told us it probably wouldn't get warm until we left! PERFECT.
Now, that wasn't our only complaint. They sat us in this back "FREEZING" room. It was us and two other people. A woman and her son. Her son was obviously very sick. Trust me...I'm not knocking on sick people. But...when you are trying to eat a meal and you're next to a guy who his hacking up his meal while you are trying to eat yours. It's not a pretty sight. Now, it's not like they couldn't move us. The place was dead. There were plenty of empty seats in the entire restaurant.
This wasn't a quiet yacking...This was a full pledge yacking in a back room while you were trying to eat your meal. There was no reason why we could not have been moved. It was just ridiculous. Will I go back to Olive Garden...Absolutely Not...Unless I want to wear earplugs and a snowsuit during dinner. -

Normally I'm too much of an Italian food snob to go to a chain like Olive Garden. (Their cheesy commercials really soured my opinion of the chain.)
But, Saturday was my sister-in-law's birthday and this was where she wanted to go.
I was impressed by the friendly staff and the variety of low fat options marked on the menu.
There was an over 40 minute wait for our party of 8, but we foresaw that and had half the party show up early and get a buzzer so Nana didn't have to wait long (and nice people gave up their seat on a bench to let Nana sit when she did arrive).
When we got a table, 2 waiters were assigned to us, and offered us some wine to taste. They were great at taking care of us, making sure the breadsticks, salad, and beverages were never empty.
The staff was very friendly and the food arrived fairly quickly.
I stayed away from the "traditional" Italian fair and had a delicious Seafood Brodetto. (Scallops, shrimp, and tilapia with spinach and mushrooms simmered in a light white wine and marinara-saffron broth. Served with toasted ciabatta bread.) The portion was generous and I ended up taking 1/2 home for the next night.
The rest of the party was happy with their Chicken Alfredo, Five Cheese Ziti al Forno, Chicken Parmigiana, and dishes ordered by the other end of the table that I don't remember.
If asked to go back again by family, I would. -

* Good Italian-Style Food *
This Olive Garden is close to my work, so I get to see their large customer traffic daily. However, I have only been here once in a while for lunch. I have also been to a few others in the MA area in the past.
They serve good food at reasonable prices. And, their complimentary bread tastes great. The food is not authentic Italian, but it is good enough for lunch or dinner. People shouldn't come here for authentic Italian food; they should come for good-tasting Italian-style food. (Not everyone can drive from the suburbs into Boston's North End for authentic Italian.)
I usually just order a specific dish. I have tried their "Endless Pasta" deals in the past for lunch, but I always found that they lack flavor.
You can save money by using coupons issued in the Sunday newspaper. I always post the coupons at work for others to use. They're always gone before lunchtime.
* Ambiance *
The staff is friendly and provides good service, even during busy hours. The restaurant has a nice décor and background music. Also, this restaurant offers seating booths, tables, bar area, and a secluded room for large parties.
* Bottom Line *
The Olive Garden is worth trying for lunch, but do not go out of the way for it. -

Hey, "dee a."... ready for some backup on your review? (*cracks knuckles*)... let's begin. And mind you, this was my first (and last) visit to an Olive Garden...ever...
Met my in-law's... place is busy so we meet them at the bar. FIL informs us that he had asked for a booth near the bar (they're a little bigger - he's a big guy and I was pregnant at the time, so...) - but was told not enough staff for that section. Whatever. FIL has a half-full beer. Hubby orders a beer. I get a water and MIL has a something-or-other. FIL asks for another beer by saying "MIss" and lifting his glass (it was crazy-busy, only one bartender, so he wanted to be sure he got her attention). Not the best method, I agree, but did NOT warrant this response.
Bartender: (ignoring FIL) Who's with him?
MIL: I am.
Bartender: I feel sorry for you. (walks away)
Nice.
Anyhoo, we finally get seated at a booth waaaaaaayyy over in a corner of what can only be described as Restaurant Siberia. Service was iffy: got our breadsticks, soups, etc. (although they took a little longer than considered acceptable) Then comes the main entrees. Everything was "ok" (i.e. edible) except for FIL's order. Silly man ordered (wait for it) CHICKEN PARM... in an OLIVE GARDEN... what was he THINKING?! Explanation for sarcasm: his took the longest, by a good 10-15 minutes (it's pasta...with a piece of chicken...covered in cheese and sauce...cooked). No good explanation from the server as to why.
We soldier on...now it's dessert time: MIL and I decide we want to split something... they're out. Husband chooses something else... they're out. Did I mention that all of this hooha took almost 3 hours?
Needless to say, the manager's presence was requested at our table. 15 minutes later, FIL got up to go find him...and saw all of the booth's near the bar full. Now, maybe more staff had come in to cover (we were there for 3 hours after all) but considering all of the crap we had just gone through, this was the last straw. Manager looked like he was ready to have a stroke (all sweaty and nervous), although he was apologetic.
The upshot: we get a $50.00 gift card mailed to us to "come back and try us again". I gave it to someone else... and good luck to them! -

Have always liked Olive Garden. Set up a hidden cam to ask my friends what they thought, and was truly surprised that I wasn't the only fan. Enjoy. (sorry my back is to the cam 99% of the time but its a short video). Good food, great service, its a chain so you know what to expect.
My only gripe is that we walked in at 915pm, staff, and manager saw us, but waited to finish their story before seating us. "so sorry to interrupt your story hour." -

went for mother 's day with my family . It was busy of course it mother's day weekend. I went there to get seat early and the guy said i had to wait at less hour and half for 7 people including toddler so 8. we wait for about hour to be seat it.
it took sometime before the waiter came and give us water. maybe about 10 mins after.we sat down..
They put us right near the kitchen where the food is coming in and out.
with toddler not recommend area to seat.
I feel like olive garden is great but compare to North end is different story.
we order the the dishes. The 4 cheese with pasta and sausage. my husband said it was all right and i order i Steak Gorgonzola-Alfredo* it had a lot of cream and a lot of pasta. they are skimpy on meat and veggies i feel. They have give less pasta and more of meat and veggie.
we order mussels half of it fell out and it was not hot non warm. and less tomato sauce
They took our salad bowl away and didn't if ask if wanted more salad. So we had to ask for more salad.
We got the create your pizza. it was good size to share with 4 people
but the pizza had too much sausage and it was on one whole slice it self. we had four topping pizza.
we order stuff ravioli for my daughter from kids menu. It was alright. it was fresh but have less sauce to it so my daughter kind of had to eat dry pasta with one spoon of sauce. it came with drink so we order strawberry milk shake it was sweet and fresh but i feel like they put ice cream in to
Bruschetta we order that I didn't taste any basil. they should put little favor to it
Seafood Brodetto we order this and it was all right
Parmesan Crusted Tilapia
we try to look for coupon online forget about it.. most of them is expired. and hard to find any
They may have new dishes but to my taste they were all right
we go to olive garden once in while.
we order
Create a Sampler Italiano we order stuff mushroom and Calamari and fried zucchini they were all right. -

I'm not sure why Olive Garden is always busy, but at least the wait wasn't very long. We were seated near the bar, which was being run by an incredibly loud and obnoxious bartender. She kept screaming and laughing randomly with her customers. I think some of the more intoxicated patrons were just riling her up for a good laugh.
Our waiter was pretty awkward, but nice. Food was relatively fast, and wasn't horrible. If you are hungry, the salad/breadstick/soup deal is pretty decent. Other than that, most entrees seem to be oversized portions of carbs drenched in buckets of sauces. -

I don't really understand why the Olive garden always has a line out the door. The food is fine and the atmosphere busy...but lets be serious. If you want a REAL Italian dinner with the dining experience to go with it, go to the North End and ditch this 700 calorie per breadstick franchise. But in all fairness, the Olive garden on its own has decent food. Tasty, but once you have authentic cuisine, this place doesn't hold the same standards. Not to mention the prices here are steep compared to other Italian restaurants.
Simply put: If its convenient for you, go for it. -

I'll start off by saying, I am generally a fan of Olive Garden; however, this experience, outside of the hysterical laughing we did, was quite terrible.
We drove from North Boston to get here almost 25 miles. When we got there, we were seated rather quickly which was nice. We were placed at a table in the middle of the rest. and asked to be placed in a booth; they kindly obliged.
At this point, it took about 10 minutes for our waitress to come over and take our drink order. While she was at the table, I also asked that when she brought the salad and bread sticks to the table: I asked for one regular salad and one salad with light dressing. I also asked for one order of regular bread sticks and one plain. This thoroughly confused her as she responded. I'll just bring an order of each. (Clearly, that's what I just said, but we didn't look into it too much.)
So, the drinks came out fairly quickly and she decided to take our order. Two orders were placed as stated on the menu and that went fine and then she went brain dead again. We asked for one order of Eggplant Parm but with Marsala sauce. (I pointed at the menu which should indicate I want it as it is listed on the menu but with Marsala sauce not tomato sauce.) She got confused and thought I just wanted the Eggplant with sauce. So I clarified by saying I would like it as listed but with Marsala sauce and I would also like that with wheat pasta. So she clarified again.. "so, you just want the eggplant on pasta with marsala sauce no cheese." In an effort not to confuse her anymore, I just agreed. Cheese really isn't that important.
Next order, Linguine Marinara (something like that) Pointed at it and said can we also add capers, olives, and garlic to that. We don't have capers.. ok that's fine. We'd also like wheat pasta with that.
So, the bread sticks come out and they're burnt. It happens. Oh well.
We ask for more, she brings them out.
The meal comes out. Eggplant Parm is wrong. Regular pasta not wheat. I let her know that the order is incorrect but I do not want it sent back to the kitchen.
Second meal, the other special order: wrong. It's literally drenched in what we presume to be vegetable/canola oil (not even olive oil) it has probably an entire bulb of garlic on it, a shit ton of olives, and none of the other stuff it is supposed to have. I try to correct the order and she argues with me that the thing we ordered doesn't have tomatoes, onions, or herbs on it. (maybe it was a sauce, maybe it was supposed to be chopped and they didn't clarify it.. either way.. it didn't have any of it.) She asked if I wanted to see a menu, and I said no, don't worry about it. After attempting to eat it, he realizes it sucks. He asks for tomato sauce.
So, more drinks come out and one of the drinks is incorrect. It's supposed to be peach tea but instead she just go unsweetened tea with peaches in it. Waitress never comes back, so we have to ask another one.
It went on and on and on..
I also checked the menu on the way out.. it was listed as I asked it.
Meanwhile, at the table behind us, the people sat for 10 minutes with no salad dressing for their salad. I guess someone forgot to put it on. The poor man had to get up and walk to find another waitress to get some because the original waitress (our waitress) never came back. -

Ahh yes, the Olive Garden.....
My friend, who's 4 months pregnant, has always had a liking of the Olive Garden.... yes, it's ok to me, so I agreed. Never argue with a pregnant woman when she tells you she wants something. ;)
This review is for the visit on Friday, August 14th.
Many times around the country, there is a line at the OG. Not tonight. And it's not that they weren't busy, they were, but just had enough seating/waiters/waitresses to cover it. Nice
I arrived early, since my friend said the Boston traffic would add 1/2 hr to my arrival. Nope. Grabbed a table.
Ordered the Chicken Alfredo and salad. Plus a diet coke.
She had the ravioli and red sauce and her hubby had the tour of Italy.
It was the usual for me. OG does a good job at producing a quality "Italian style" meal at a decent price. I enjoyed it, but with the salad and breadsticks, it meant I had a box coming.
My friend very much enjoyed her meal....and I'm starting to wonder if she isn't training for a "fast eating contest" because she inhaled them fast.
Not as fast as her hubby though....he inhaled the tour of Italy in one breath I think? And a couple Sam Adams beers to go with it.
In all, we enjoyed the visit, and time to catch up.
If you have the chance to go to this OG, do it! -

Stopped in with J because he had a gift card and I had a coupon for a free app. We tried the lasagna fritta, which was Amazing (yes, with a capital a). It was basically a number of pieces of lasagna that had been fried and then topped with marinara sauce. Definitely an app worth trying!

Well, my boyfriend and I love The Olive Garden but it's always crazy busy, so I suggested we head there to eat on Thursday night, around 6:30pm. There was no wait compared to a Friday or Saturday night. Sounds like a pretty obvious thing but usually we don't eat out on Thursday evenings.
The only downfall to the evening (well except for one other thing that was my fault, get to that later...) was that we were sat at a table, not a booth. The table would have been fine but it was in a fairly high-traffic area and we had waiters carrying trays just mere inches from the top of my boyfriend's head (he is 6'3). We also had some busser that seemed to be looming over my boyfriend's shoulders, he couldn't see the guy but I did every time he came by to inspect the area for tables that needed clearing.
Besides that, everything was great! Our server was named Kristol and she was attentive in just the right amount. She kept drinks filled, checked back on everything and of course our orders were correct. She seemed confident and friendly but also professional and not pushy. Nor did she hover. We didn't have to look around for her, she seemed to show up whenever we needed her, which showed me that she kept an eye on our table when she was nearby.
Another thing I find that's nice is that when it's time to go, the server is willing to pack up your leftovers. Unfortunately, I dropped mine on the rug! arug. Hopefully they weren't too mad. I picked up the mess but left it since we couldn't spot our server and alert her. Oops.
Overall things were great, Kristol was a great server and we'll be back!Listed in: Top Restaurants

The only reason why it gets a star is because the food was alright. Otherwise, I'd give it 0 stars.
I've been to the Olive Garden in South Bay many times but decided to try this one here in Stoughton to see if service was any better. The only reason why I stopped eating at the South Bay location was due to poor service.
My bf and I were seated and the waitress stopped by to tell us she'd be with us shortly. She got to us in a timely manner but right away she didn't greet us. She had a wine bottle in her hand and immediately looked at me and said, "You guys are definitely not old enough to drink." I knew I looked young so it didn't offend me so I told her we actually were. Then she proceeds to tell my bf, "But you're not old enough, are you?" It just gets worse from there. It's one thing to doubt our age, but she made herself look bad by assuming. She clearly did not know how to save herself so she digged herself a deeper hole. She tried to explain herself so I could see she was sorry but I was getting agitated by then. So she got our drink order, checked our IDs and was on her way.
Now, the only reason why we decided to have Olive Garden that night was because we LOVED their frozen margaritas at the South Bay location. We were craving it pretty badly. We got our margaritas and CLEARLY there was no alcohol in it. Drinks are expensive because of the acohol. If we wanted non-alcoholic we shouldn't have paid that much. I tried mine over and over again to see if maybe I missed the alochol, but NOPE it wasn't there. We thought maybe the bartender may have missed it by accident so we sent it back. I also sent mine back due to the fact that it was sooooo salty! I asked for salt rimming but never had I had it so salty. She took it back with no problems until..........
She came back once to tell us that it was pre-measured so that it was probably going to taste the same. We said it's fine but we just thought maybe the bartender may have forgotten the acohol the first time. The waitress got a little defensive and reminded us that she isn't the one who makes the drink. We knew that and weren't blaming her at all but she seemed to have an attitude problem.
Then a little while later she comes back again and asked if maybe I should get it sugar-rimmed instead. I said no, I've had this many times and know how it should be and that is way beyond salty. I wanted it salt-rimmed and she just looked at me and didn't say, "ok" didn't say ANYTHING. She turned her head and walked towards another table. Rude much?
So at this point, I was beyond heated and didn't even want the drink anymore. I lost my appetite and stopped with my salad and breadsticks. I told my bf that I was done. But before we could make that decision, the drinks came out. It wasn't as good as expected but at least now we could taste the alcohol. Now it wasn't salty. It was fine! It was not on the waitress on how the drinks came out so she shouldn't have been so defensive. I don't get it! I know drinks are a hit and miss depending on the bartender, but it was NOT the waitress' problem. I told her that we don't blame her after I calmed down. She then put on her fake, high-pitched voice into play and took our orders.
It was pretty awkward from then on and all the bf and I could conversate about was how mad we were. We ate quickly and the food tasted fine, but we didn't really come for the food like I said. We didn't expect someone to mess up our drinks THAT badly. And I wouldn't say that I'm sorry that the waitress had to deal with our dilemma between us and the bartender, because she also had her own attitude problem. She was a little rude with us to begin with when she doubted our age so confidently.
I'm starting to think now that Olive Garden as a whole doesn't know how to hire a competent staff. -
Review from Elmer C.
Oak Island, MA
On this visit to the Stoughton Olive Garden, the rather awful food was somewhat offset by the really nice service I received. I've eaten at many Olive Gardens over the years and they never fail to disappoint. Why do I keep going back? Usually it's because someone else wants to go there, but tonight I was really in the mood for a lot of pasta and their advertisements for "Endless Pasta" got the best of me.
Arriving around 9:00 on a weekday evening, I was seated right away. The very gracious server arrived almost immediately and took both my drink and food orders. Moments later he returned with salad, breadsticks, and beverage. By the time I had eaten half the salad, the first bowl of pasta was served. I chose the "Whole Wheat Linguine" with "Creamy Portabello Mushroom" sauce, and added "Grilled Chicken".
The sauce was very thick and pasty. I would hardly call it "creamy". It also had a strange mealy texture as though breadcrumbs had been stirred into it. The few chunks of chicken thrown on top were dry and tasteless. The dish overall was edible only because I was really hungry. It had no flavor that would make me ever want to order it again.
Though my appetite had now lost most of it's rage, that first dish was not at all satisfying and I wanted to try a little bit more of something different. I asked the waiter if I could have just a small portion this time, and ordered the "Whole Wheat Linguine" with their basic "Marinara" sauce and a "Meatball" instead of the chicken. It seemed like only seconds before he returned again with a nice small portion of exactly what I asked for.
The Meatball was the most flavorful thing I was served all evening (though that's not sayin' much). The Marinara sauce was incredibly bland. As far as the pasta itself goes, well it's pretty hard to mess up cooking a batch of linguine. Nonetheless, like I said earlier, the Olive Garden never fails to disappoint.
All of the pasta was broken into little pieces! Not just a few here and there broken in half, but the entire dish of linguine was made up of bizarrely small pieces that ranged from no more than three or four inches, down to little bits less than an inch long! It was very strange; impossible to twirl and awkward to just pick up with a fork like you can with normal spaghetti-format pastas.
But the waiter was as attentive, courteous, and pleasant as can be. It seemed rather surreal to be served such horrible food with such wonderful service. So I couldn't resist asking him about the broken pasta, wondering whether "smash before boil" was the cooking recipe for all their pastas or if that was something they only did to their Whole Wheat Linguine".
He knew exactly what I was talking about and I imagine may have wondered about it himself because he said he'd get an answer from the kitchen. Sure enough, he returned a short while later and as he began to explain, another server ran over and said, "Wait, I want to hear the answer too!". The "official story" is that their whole wheat pasta has a different makeup of proteins in the dough which causes it to become more brittle. During shipment, cracks can occur that sometimes causes the pasta to break.
That might sound plausible, and again, the waiter couldn't have been nicer in seeking and relaying the explanation from the kitchen. But as someone who cooks whole wheat pasta myself at home all the time, it's just not a valid excuse. I've tried many different brands and none of them have ever broken up into little pieces. Neither were any of them as tasteless as that served tonight at the Olive Garden.
Not a very good value at the Olive Garden either. The prices are on-par with any average-to-mediocre Italian restaurant, but the food quality falls far short of even that low standard. The pretentious ambiance "put on" at Olive Garden also scores negative points with me. It's phoniness becomes insulting when the actual food tastes worse than a nuked up frozen dinner!
Before finishing this review I discussed my thoughts with a friend who absolutely loves the Olive Garden. He was as shocked that I thought the food comes from a huge and distant factory as I was to hear that he thought everything is cooked from scratch in each restaurant every day. When I searched the Internet to try find an answer to this question, it appears that indeed, most of the food is cooked in the restaurants rather than poured out of a can or plastic bag. I'm very surprised to hear that! It seems as impossible as if every McDonalds were to have a corral of cattle out back that are slaughtered and made into fresh ground hamburgers every day. It's just hard to believe that anyone would deliberately cook up lousy recipes with perfect consistency all across the nation. Surely there'd be a rogue Olive Garden where someone couldn't resist trying to make the food taste a little better.
The reason I'm not giving the Stoughton Olive Garden one star is only because the service (this time) was absolutely perfect! -

Olive Garden has really fallen off..i usually go to this one because I'd rather not be in the hood one in dorchester but really they all suck now..unlimited breadticks & salad is BS..last week my bf & I went there & the waiter must've was a guy who looked blasted out of his mind high..he served us our salad & then didn't come back to our table until after some other guy brought us our food (i DID want more salad smh) then i asked for more breadsticks because they'd only brought us 4 & we finished before our food came..you know this dude has the balls to bring us TWO breadsticks..I was pissed because he was never around so I couldn't ask for more or a refill on my drink..i overheard the two gentlemen behind me ask their waiter to wrap up there food & some breadsticks to go..so in my head i said "ok you caan get them to go..cool'..so when our waiter came to wrap our food i asked for some breadstick to go & he goes "oh well i'm really not supposed to do that but i will cuz i really don't care"..then he asked if my bf wanted another drink to go..why did this guy NOT give me breadsticks to go & only gave my bf a drink to go because i reminded him smh..left a $3 tip out of the kindness of my heart because ppl working for $2.63 an hour & relying on tips to pay there bills should be kissing ass to please people..the food wasn't really good either..we only went because we had a gift card..if you're heading that way I'd recommend SMOKEY BONES located right next door..better service, food & usually less of a wait

This will be the last time we eat at this expensive greasy spoon. The food was less than impressive; the service was poor; and whoever the brainstorm is that seats people needs serious therapy. For instance, 2 people with abominable-smelling perfume came in, and they were seated right next to us. Ruined what little there was worth eating. People who smell bad should have their own room.

First time at Olive Garden, and it was pretty good! I like the booths alot, so there's not one like really close to you. I walked in with a friend and was seated after the waittress came, in like less than one minute. We requested a booth. The decor was very nice and simple. Lots of people eating..but I really liked the atmosphere. Our waitress was kind of busy, since it was about lunch time, 12:30 PM. They forgot my drink :( So I had to ask about it. Our food came in good timing..Had my salad and bread. I liked the bread, too bad they don't bring butter with it. You probably have to ask. My peach-raspberry ice tea was so sweet..ehh. But my Chicken Scampi, was good, or should I say my chicken in the chicken scampi was good, the pasta was okay, could use more flavoring. Overall, it was a nice meal. Will go back again!

Sunday nite, around 6 PM. Very busy, had to wait approximately 30 minutes until bar space opened up. We were waiting for table, but took bar space to eat sooner. everything was great, atmostphere, service and food except that I had the chianti braised short ribs and there were two or three pieces of the ribs that were very dry and tough. Maybe overcooked ??? My wife had the chicken and shrimp, however, my first choice was grilled shrimp, but location was out of large shrimp(86). That is when I choose the braised short ribs. Will not do that again. I have always been happy with this restaurant. Will go back.!!!

Its a chain restaurant, what do you expect? The breadsticks & salad are really good, coming completmentary with your entree. The smoked mozzarella fonduta appetizer is cheesy and reallyyyyy good. I've never found an entree I love there so I usually wind up with chicken parm, meh.
