I joke that Olive Garden is the fanciest place in Santa Maria. :) Today I went there for a late lunch. The bread was a little bit undercooked, but other than that the food was fine. The service was great... The host was funny, some waiters came out to sing happy birthday to me, and later the general manager stopped by our table to say happy birthday.

I've had 2 experiences here. They were both accompanied by really good service, constantly refilling the bread basket and drinks. The food was good for an Olive Garden. Only downers are that they don't put croutons in their ceasar salads and the strawberry lemonade could use a few tweaks.

I've only been to Olive Garden a few times.. but my last time will probably REALLY be my last time.. I wanted to go all out with the Tour of Italy.. what the heck right, it IS an Italian restaurant! We also ordered some appetizers... The server lagged it big time with our drinks.. actually, the host brought our drinks! He apologized saying that the bar was busy. Silly for him to say because we were sat at a booth with a window where we could clearly see the bar was empty. Thennnn the server comes back with bad news, 86 on the lasagna.. UGH! Didn't offer anything else but a longer wait and to choose another item on the menu. We were over it.. Paid for the cold half nibbled appetizers and left. BOOO YOU!

Every Now and then My wife and I love to go here.... we absolutely love the "All you can Eat Soup & Salad & Breadsticks". We usually try at least 2 different soups, and the salad is quite tasty, also.

We were on a mission to get some IN-N-OUT for the ride home when suddenly I saw and Olive Garden sign. I'd been once in Denver and probably haven't been to one in 15 or so years since that experience so I thought, hey I haven't had any greens lately and figured we could go munch on their endless salad bowl. Um not so much, the dressing was super sour and their toss job was horrendous. Our waiter was lovely but our food was horrible. I ordered the Shrimp Caprese which was grilled shrimp on angel hair tossed with butter cream sauce and tons of dried and couple sprigs of fresh herbs.
My sister's Minestrone was totally out of a can the only thing they probably added that was fresh were a few slices of zucchini. I'm not going back there for another 10 to 15 years. -

I have to agree with the other 1-star poster on here. This Olive Garden is not good at all. The salad dressing doesn't taste right.. I admit it's been a long time since I've eaten at an Olive Garden, but I remember their salad & breadsticks are delicious - not here. The food we ordered wasn't good either. Bland and the fish wasn't fresh. I definitely do not recommend this place.
Decor is ok - nothing special. Service was ok. Food is not good. -

The pricing is absolutely INSANE! The food is terrific, don't get me wrong, but the injustice in their pricing make the entire meal taste a little more sour than it should.

Not a chain restaurant chain fan. I went to OG with the parents. The salads were crisp and fresh (ceasar) and the dressing was nice. I like to taste a little bit more of an anchovy taste. I had a shrimp appy as my entree the parents has a seafood fettuccine and seafood primavera each had leftovers. The reason this place gets 4 instead of 3 stars is because of the service. Joshua was attentive, but not overbearing! Overall an decent meal that was enjoyable!

When special occasions arrive, or my friend and I want to have a nice lunch, we'll drive down to this location to eat!
The food is pretty much the same as every olive garden I've ever been to. There is also some variance in the quality. Some days, you get a bowl of soup that is kind of lacking on substance. Other days, like the last time I went, you get a wonderful bowl full of all the potatoes and stuff.
I've never had bad service at this place. The staff seats people as fast as they can [don't go at dinner time on the weekend, it gets crowded].
They will work with you if you don't like certain veggies in the salad, or want to change part of a dish to suite your tastes. They are always happy to help, and serve with a smile.
The dishes are clean, the tables are nice. My only complaint is that I never know when the Never Ending Pasta Bowl is available! ah well.
I tend to order the same three things in an alternating pattern when I go. The chicken parmesean is fantastic , but I split it into two servings. Their spaghetti is okay, but not the best I've ever had. Fettuchini Alfredo is good, but really rich. I love the tour of italy, but it's A LOT of food. Zuppa Tuscona is probably the best one they have.
The staff don't rush you, so you can stay and chat, and have a good dinner with your family. They make sure you feel welcome and at home. If you have children, they probably would love Olive Garden!
If you want a nice place to have a good family dinner, or a nicer lunch with pals, go here! -

Santa Maria, CA
I like Olive Garden but this one is a bit so-so. I sure hope the management of Olive Garden read some of these posts. We get really inconsistent food and service. On several occasions the veggie were not even cooked. The manager always apologizes but you would think that by now they would retrain the staff. We still eat there because Santa Maria does not have much of a variety of good food places.

I know that the Olive Garden isn't REAL Italian food. If you go into the restaurant with that kind of attitude, then you can't be disappointed with the quality of food. But for the price, I think it's decent Italian food which I would give 3 stars. The only time I was at this location, we had an awesome waiter who was really attentive and genuinely nice. Add an extra star for excellent customer service.

Its okay after you get through the salad. The main courses are usually very tasty. I like the chicken scampi and more times than not our service is really good. Its good for the price I think. If you want really great italian you are going to pay more. Guiseppes in Pismo for exampe.OG does not take reservations unless you have a very large group.
