I came here at 11:30 and was seated immediately, no waiting time!
Our server was friendly and attentive.
I had the chicken ceasar salad, and I asked for more veggies and less dressing, and it was good!
I am not a fan of the garlic bread since all that is, flour, butter and salt, just bad calories! -

I really want to like Olive Garden more as others in my family like it and try as hard as I might, I struggle each and every time to find something on the menu that I will enjoy. I've resorted to soups and salads now only when I visit. One thing Olive Garden does well in my opinion is soup plus it is one of the few items that is a good value for your money.
I find the food plain and more Americanized than Italian. Plus there are very few options that are not covered in butter, oil, or some sort of sauce so definitely go off of the Healthy Fare menu.
The place is very corporate and I feel like I am on the clock when I am in there and they are trying to push me out the door. Food typically arrives while I am eating my soup and the place feels chaotic.
The people here however are outstanding. I am yet to meet an employee or manager here that doesn't genuinely care and go out of their way to be friendly and courteous. This IS the most redeeming quality of this restaurant.
Definitely call ahead as the place is always packed(only OG in Salem). -

The service was great here. Leticia was awesome! She made the experience great along with being with my family. The calamari was undercooked and not so good. The stuffed mushrooms were....meh and the mozzarela wedges should of been served to a child....oh wait....maybe they were just for my son. My mom and I split the steak gorganzola which was good. I am not a personal hater of Olive Garden but I guess I tend to know that my authentic Italian cooking is up there with the best......

Its an Olive Garden my buddy wanted me to check it out he said it was the best service he has ever had at an OG. We might have had someone who was new. He said last time a young girl filled with energy helped him and she was amazing. We will have to come back to try again.

"They can't be serious!"
Let's see. They want me to wait an hour to be seated. Then offer me food that is to Italian cuisine, what McDonalds is to American fare! I DON'T THINK SO! Saddle up and ride out to Caruso's or Gamberetti's . And never mind these imposters! -

Since it's the only OG in Salem, it is almost always (yet inevitably) crowded, so you spend the first part of your visit watching other people chow down while waiting for a table. What ever happened to restaurants accepting reservations? :(
Unlimited salad & breadsticks are nice, if not necessary to make sure you get your money's worth since they charge an arm & a leg for an entree. Man, prices have really gone up here!
Service is usually good, so no complaints there. Overall, there are better Italian restaurants to try within the greater Salem area. -

I generally love going to Olive Garden but for some reason the pasta here was way overcooked to the point of squishy. The steak however was very good as was the stuffed chicken marsala. The salad and breadsticks are very tasty. The waite staff were friendly and tried hard to please. The manager did comp my dinner because i was unhappy with the pasta.
The group at the table down from us was SO very noisy it was hard to hear my husband sitting across from me. The group was loud and rudely ignored the looks they got from several people sitting around them. The waite staff did nothing to quiet them or even ask them to lower their voices a little bit. -

The bartender was very rude and cold. The food was sub-par; my soup had the skin of a pig in it! I used to like going to OG but I can honestly say, that after this experience, I will never go back.

This review is for their "To go" service only. I've never dined in here. I ordered a giant to go order for a party of 45 the day before pickup, upon arriving I was served quickly and they even loaded up everything in my vehicle for me. didn't have to do a thing. They provided all plastic wear and everything you would need to serve. Price was very reasonable for a party of 45 and everyone at the meeting was very impressed by the quality of the food.

My Delta Gamma little sis is in LOVE with this place, and forced me to go often, which was okay because I had a huge crush on a guy who ended up managing here ;) hehehe.
Though Olive Garden is a chain, at least their food tastes of fresh, quality ingredients.
I have NO idea why the wait is always like 3hours though. -

Salem, OR
This Olive Garden use to be a bit more affordable but now it seems that they raised their prices significantly while letting the food quality slip. Don't get me wrong the foods still good, just not like it was. I would say if you need an Olive Garden fix, come for lunch and save a few bucks and order the all you can eat soup, salad, and breadsticks meal.

I'm confused as to how all the people who "love" Olive Garden haven't figured out that all their dishes are the same. For example, every "new" dish is the same as the last, just shaped differently. It's all ravioli! It doesn't matter what you call the shape, if its a pocket of pasta stuffed with cheese and topped with a tomato alfredo. It DOESNT MATTER is you call it "rolitini", or "triangalini" or even "squarilini". It's all the same.
It's too rich to eat much of. I've never finished a dish--it's that over powering.
It's all premade garbage that the "chefs" heat and serve. What, exactly, is this town doing? Every night there is a line of people waiting to be served frozen breadsticks and ravioli at excrutiatingly high prices.
C'mon world. Stop being stupid. -

Salem, OR
This place has ruined italian food. I've been to italy several times and nowhere is the food so bland and generic. Also I don't see why people love the portions. Food doesn't get better just because they give you more of it. We've been here several times and I usually leave with a film on my tongue. The service is way above par for a chain. But this place is so popular around here and it has convinced the people around here that this is what italian food should taste like It has made it very difficult for a small high quality eatery to open let alone stay in business. If you want italian, do some leg work and find a better place. Later.

I was surprised to see so many poor reviews to this Olive Garden. I ate here today and the found the food really good and the service was pretty good.

Ugh. I have no clue why so many people love this place. And this location always seems packed with people -- with a wait to get in no less! Amazing that Salem residents continue to support crap like this. First of all, the food isn't even good. Second, the prices are too high for the quality. Third, the wait staff are a hybrid of a happy Red Robin server and a cold-hearted Nordstrom salesperson. WEIRD. I do understand that Salem is lacking in good/reasonably priced italian food, but come on people! Come on! Don't continue to support this crap. Seriously, I'd rather eat down the street at Del Taco. Seriously. Go Del Taco! :-)

What can you say about the Olive Garden, there is a reason the line is out the door. The service always seems a little rushed but the food is consistently good with a wide variety on the menu. Of course I'm Italian so I may be a little biased :-) Have Fun!

Review from Jando S.
Olive Garden is a chain for a reason: high quality Italian food combined with well-decorated restaurants and great service. The Salem Olive Garden is always busy and I've never seen it dead. Ever. The food is always high quality and the service is always pleasant but the "franchise" element of the restaurant is what bothers me most. It loses the Italian authenticity and slight appeal with its inability to distinguish itself amongst the rest. Of course there are other Italian places in Salem, some of which have better food than here. Its the whole "Olive Garden Experience" combined with limited food options in Salem that keep it alive and popular. Since the prices are spendy, come here when there are deals going on (all you can eat pasta, etc.).

This place is popular with everyone! They don't take reservations on the weekends and there's usually a line so go earlier if you don't want to wait. Food is good, but parking, staff and service can be variable.
