I really like Olive Garden now.  It use to be a  place to get over sauced, over priced and over cooked food but those are the days of old.  The food is a lot better and I really enjoyed the dinner there with the family. I think it's a little on the expensive side for a chain food restaurant but over all....it's a decent choice for a decent might out.

I haven't been to the Olive Garden for years and wanted an early dinner for NYE.  Seems like I'm consistently underwhelmed here.   Service was so slow.  The waiter was inattentive and didn't know what the dishes consisted of.  WOW!  Bread sticks were cold and hard.  Took forever to get one refill.

Now, if this was say, 6 or 7pm I could understand slow service, but this was 3:30pm and there were plenty of open tables.

Food was ok.  Not great, but ok.  The best part was the soup.  I do love the Zuppa Toscana!  Oh and the Andre's mint with the check was good too.

Not worth the $45.00 I shelled out.

Don't think I'll be back anytime soon.

We were in the area for Black Friday, and decided to stop by for lunch.  No, they did not have Black Friday deals at this Olive Garden location.

We sat down immediately in the back private room since there was 6 of us.

The server was very friendly and offered as much help as she possibly could.

We redefined "bottomless" by refilling our salad bowl at least 6-7 times, which directly tells you how many baskets of bread we went through.  (I love their garlic bread sticks... really really good)

I had the fettuccine Alfredo, it was average at best.  The creme sauce was not very cremey more liquidy and juicy.

TIP:  They might be the only restaurant left who drops real peaches inside their peach iced tea.  If you are like me, and the first thing you do is stick your straw inside the peach to pull it out of the glass and eat it, don't be surprised; they don;t give you a new peach with the refill of the drink.  Cheapo.

Olive Garden is like a once every 6 month endeavor.  They are 'a-ok" enough to go back every blue moon (no beer pun intended)

Food is OK, packs a ton of hidden calories... This location in particular though has the longest freaking wait times imaginable.

It seems like every birthday dinner in Oxnard is had here.

Reason to visit : Meeting with friend.
Seating time    : We were told 30 min. Actual wait time was 1 hr. Only if we knew, we won't even bother to wait the first 30 min. The pregnant friend was starved, upset and felt sick due to prolong hunger.
Serving time : The soup and drinks came after 20 min, the appertizer came 15 min afterwards. The main courses served 30 min later and was cold. We made it to go since the pregnant friend almost vomit.
Server : Tried her best to be friendly  but she looked exhausted and busy.

Funny facts : Many people dressed up to eat at this place... I guess they never try a real upscale Italian place.

Conclusion: This place need time management! It was Thursday at 5.30pm and we had to wait for that long. Very inefficient!

I love Olive Garden, I've gone to many of them and it's not my favorite but I love the fact that almost everyone likes it. So I ordered the shrimp caprese and completely fell in love. Angel hair pasta with butter sauce and topped with fresh mozarella cheese and grilled tomatoes and shrimp It was seriously out of this world good. I love the seasonal dishes from there and this was one of my favorite, I miss the shrimp and crab ravioli now that's my favorite but this will sufice. I also ordered the apple crostata for dessert and I couldn't finish it but it was great. Service was ok but not perfect. Will come back again.

I went here for my father's birthday on New Years.  I had the chicken fettuccine alfredo which was average.  and I also had  the soup and breadsticks which you can't go wrong with.  Overall it was an good meal but felt it was overpriced.  The best part of my dinner was the company with my family and the Sam Adams Winter lager.

Went with my daughters after bridal dress shopping.  The four of us had soup and salad.  The salad is basically lettuce with a couple of olives, tomotoes and onions.  Nothing special.  Didn't eat the breadsticks but they looked okay.  Soup was good.    What brought this up to 3 stars was the Roscato sparkling wine.

Oh how I despise screaming kids running around in a restaurant.  If thy can't behave, eat at home!

I gave having  lunch with my daughters 5 stars!

What does it say about the future of food-lovin' America when a place like Presto Pasta gets more stars than an Olive Garden?  (I just now saw that.)  While I don't think Olive Garden has the best Italian food, I do give them an "A" for effort for their constant striving to achieve greatness, and I think their food is better than Presto Pasta (yes, I've eaten there).  For many years, I used to not like Olive Garden at all....but they keep changing, I keep trying different menu items......something's working somewhere.  It's got flavor, and it tastes good.  It's definitely better than Bucca di Beppo.  Is it like Maggiano's?  Sorry, NO......but they keep trying, which is more than I can say for a great many other restaurants, who rely solely upon their laurels.

For lunch, you can't get a better deal than a choice of one of their soups, their signature salad with Italian dressing and garlic breadsticks........as much as you want of each......for $7.95.  Sure, it's gone up from $4.95 when they first opened, but what on this earth hasn't increased its prices?  It's still with free refills.  Can't beat that.  If that doesn't tempt your palate, they have so many appetizers to try, or even one of their hot entrees.

As for dinner, again, they work very hard to bring a wide array of Italian dishes, and while there's always room for improvement (and they know this), some of their items are pretty darn tasty.  I tend to order their chicken dishes most often.  Some of their appetizers have lots of taste appeal, too.  Desserts are rich and yummy.  Usually too full to eat them, but they sound so inviting, sometimes we make room.

I love Italian food! Although, I understand that Olive Garden isn't authentic Italian food, I still enjoy the food that is offered at Olive Garden. Their free bread is some of the best out there. I always get a tozcano soup as an appetizer because it is unbelievably good. The waitress was ok! I had to ask her a couple of times for certain items. I didn't have a spoon for my soup and had to wait a minute to get a spoon. Other than that, don't really have many complaints.

I have now realized that there is a way to tell someone that you don't like them without actually verbalizing the feelings...just give them an Olive Garden gift card!

Wow! I remember coming to Olive Garden many years ago and have since graduated to other more refined tastes...especially with regards to Italian Food.

I must say that this Olive Garden in particular was in rare form...our order was incorrectly prepared 3 times...and we are talking about the fact that our order came back wrong once, was supposed to be corrected and brought back again wrong, sent back and then brought back again wrong.

The food was flavor less (beg your pardon) except for the exorbitant amounts of salt that was on everything.

Now, I realize that we must be thankful for everything the Lord gives us but I must say that if this is indicative of all of the other Olive Gardens in Ventura County and the San Fernando Valley...then I would imagine that this will mean the end of Olive Garden as a chain restaurant.

Olive Garden ...why do you hate Italians and the food they have created?? Why?!

I do not plan on ever going back unless I must go on the account of a family get together or some unforeseen force of nature should cause me to darken the steps of this establishment.

I don't think I have over dramatized this matter but judge for yourself...taste and see what I am talking about!

On this review I speak not only for this Olive Garden, but ALL Olive Gardens in general because I've never experienced one being different from the other.

First of all I came here last night on a Saturday, and even though it was busy (prom night) the Service was still good, and the waitress still managed to refill my drinks in time!  I love the wine tasting, the good was good, but to me this is more of a place you to for lunch and just have bread, salad & soup.  Don't get me wrong the food is GREAT, but it isn't authentic Italian food.  But I have no complaints, just don't come on a weekend! :)

Olive Garden is a good place to eat. Definetly not my first choice for pasta though. They have good pasta. One of my favorites are the Chicken Carbonera. its good but the portion is small compared to other places I've been to.

I think all their plates are good to, but expensive for small portions that really didn't fill me up.

We at here on a Wednesday evening and who knew this was so popular and I really don't know why. We waited in the bar area and had a fairly good Chianti and a beer for 12.68, a little pricey for the quality. The server in the bar was cheery and friendly but wanted to be paid and did not offer to transfer to our dinner check, not very classy, but its Olive Garden, Right?
We were seated between a party of 10 and a party of 6, so the table was loud and one guy ran his mouth the whole meal, but he was with his Gramma so what the heck.
The server was nice as could be but did not mention the black board specials that I noticed on the way to the Ladies.
I love that the menu has the calories right on it! I considered ordering lite but in the end did not and wished I had.
I hadn't been to OG for years. The never-ending salad and bread sticks were exactly as yummy as always, though the waiter brought too many bread sticks to begin with and they are not as good cold. We did not see the server at our table for a long time after he dropped the 1st course off. We sat at the table for 15 minutes after we finished the salad and bread. Someone else brought the entrees and said the kitchen was backed up.
The Eggplant Parmesean (a pain to make at home) was perfection. The breading in so crisp and the marinara here is a little on the sweet side, its why kids like it. My husband had Chicken Alfredo, very rich with fresh grilled chicken. These dishes have not changed for 20 years. They were both very heavy and delicious but I wished I hadn't eaten them for 24 hours, We never saw our original waiter again, his buddy packed our to-go boxes, we ordered a decadent chocolate dessert and got the hell outa Dodge.
The Black tie pie was good not great. Over-all I did not think this was a good value for the quality.
What did I expect, It's Olive Garden, Right?

I had not been to an Olive Garden is 6+ years - once I moved to Santa Barbara I became a total wanna be food snobbie and vowed against chain restaurants. However, after 3 hours of bridal dress shopping for a friend we were all ready to plop down and EAT. Olive Garden happened to be conveniently located across the parking lot. We had a group of 7 and told it would be about a 30 minute wait due to the after church crowd. It ended up being more around 15 minutes - score! Got a big round table located in the back corner - score 2. Our waitress was efficient, helpful and easy going the entire meal, memorized all of our orders without writing a single thing down - score 3. We had appetizers of spinach artichoke dip served with toasty french bread slices and stuff mushrooms w/cheese & clams - soooo good and not skimpy with the portions - score 4. Our garlic bread was warm n toasty, contrary to a few other reviews.

The one thing I would not order as a main course at a chain restaurant is seafood - it just seems sketchy and there's plenty of delicious seafood joints in Santa Barabra. So I steered away from that and ordered off the summer menu. I had the chicken carbonara and ravioli stuffed with pancetta. It was one of the least expensive items on the menu ($10.86) and again,  healthy sized serving. The chicken was moist - my biggest pet peeve is dry chicken. I had the chicken and gnocci soup to pair with my main course - not too salty, creamy and flavorful. Not expecting that - score 5. All of my friends felt the same way - apricot chicken with sauteed veggies, fried talipia with angel hair pasta n veggies, Mediterranean chicken n pasta, and classic spaghetti with dinosaur sized meatballs.

The dessert menu has quite the selection - I can't believe we were even able to think about dessert after that meal, but it looked so damn good we made it happen. Me and a friend split the dolcini trio - chocolate mouse with caramel cream, strawberry n white chocolate cream cake, and some type of lemon goodness in a cup. YUM - perfect, not too sweet and just the right portion. Other friends shared tiramisu and raspberry/chocolate cake - all happy foodies - score 7!

Waitress separated/itemized our bill out without us asking - made things much more simplified at the end.

I realistically won't be back here anytime soon, but definitely recommend it to any locals looking for decent Italian food.

I am a huge fan of pasta and Italian food in general...

Maybe I have gotten used to Presto Pasta down the street, but who knows?

The thing I hate most about this location is the wait.   There have been very few times when I have come to this location and waited under 20 minutes.  There is always a grip of people hanging out around the outside because there is not enough room for all the people inside who are waiting to be seated.  Maybe they need to make the bar area a little smaller and actually seat people.

The food is pretty pricey for what you get, and its nice that they give you salad and breadsticks with your meal but then they charge you 4 bucks for a little thing of sauce to dip your breadsticks in.   Dont get me wrong, the food is pretty damn good but the price and the wait just dont make me want to come there very often.

The only reason it gets 3 stars and not 2 is because our server was awesome...she really took care of us while doing the same for the whole section.

I wish I knew who it was I would ask for her next time...

I was fortunate enough to receive a $50 gift card to Red Lobster yesterday. I was lucky enough to have a co-worker point out that it's also good at Olive Garden. I prefer OG to RL because RL stinks.

I invited a friend and we had enough money on the card to be able to order big. We got fried calamari and lasagna. He had the pasta fagioli and I had a salad. To avoid the wait, we sat at one of the tall tables near the bar. The service was prompt and the food came quickly. The breading on the calamari was a little light and came off too easily.

The salad was so-so. I could have used more croutons, but I didn't ask so it's my own fault.

The lasagna was excellent. Their meat sauce is the bomb.

If I ever get another Red Lobster gift card, I'm heading right over to The Olive Garden to spend it.

After moving back to the states from Italy, I had no desire to ever eat at an Olive Garden ever again.  The actual thought of having fake, American inspired Italian was just gross to me.  The only reason we ate there is because I love their salad and it was Veteran's Day and they had an amazing special for active duty and vets.  Sadly, the special was a specific menu they had made for active duty and vets, but the entree was totally free for my husband.  He was greatly disappointed with his spaghetti and meatballs (I tried to tell him to get something else because it would be bland and gross).  I on the other hand was fairly pleased with my eggplant parmesan.  The spaghetti on the side though, yuck.  The noodles were on the verge of being overcooked, almost mush and the sauce was just gross.  I'm sure Olive Garden is plenty satisfying for people that have never experienced real Italian food, if you have though, just go to Olive Garden if you are in a rush or desperate.

Ive only been to Olive Garden a few times but I absolutely love coming to the Oxnard location. I always hear good things about this one and they never let me down. The restaurant is always clean and spotless.

The service here is amazing. My boyfriend and I ordered endless soup, salad and breadsticks, which only came out to $20.84 for both of us. Our waitress was on top of everything, from refilling our sodas to making sure we always had enough food. She handed us our check early, but made it very clear that there wasnt any rush. This Olive Garden is definitely a must!!!

More than anything, I have to say I am mind-boggled as to why a restaurant like this is busy.
I'll give them one star because my waiter was cool and provided decent, fast service.
I'll give them a second star because when I complained about the quality of my food, the manager didn't charge us for our appetizers.
So, why am I not giving them the additional 3 stars?

1- my garlic bread was cold. Not just cold...it was doughy and actually partially frozen in the middle. yuck.

2- I ordered the "seafood portofino"; pasta with mussels, clams, shrimp, etc. 3 of the 4 mussels were shut, meaning they weren't cooked enough or I dont know what. They also smelled terrible. The pasta sauce was strangely salty with no other flavors except for the salt.

3- my girlfriend ordered a minestrone soup and salad. The minestrone soup tasted like it came from Chef Boyardee (salty, fake tasting, from a can), and the salad was supposed to come with mixed vegatables...all it had was iceberg lettuce and a tomato wedge.

    Decent service; really disappointing food.

I can't believe it's taken me this long to tell you what I think of the Olive Garden!

Well, in case you were wondering, I love it. You go there for continuous soup and salad, and soup and salad make a beautiful lunch. I usually have the veggie minestrone. By yourself or with some friends, it's a nice place, priced well, very neat and clean, and consistently good. The help is nice, too, and that's particularly important to me, because I am not the world's easiest customer. The bubbe has needs, and expects them to be met... with a smile!

But back to the food. The salads are very good, too, because they are very simple, and if you want more they automatically bring you more. Here's how we used to do it when we lived in Ventura County: Harry would have the soup, I would have the salad, and we'd eat our fill. It cut our expenses. Now I don't know if they knew we were switching plates when we got sick of one thing, or if they'd like it if they did know. I guess they must have known, but because the help is nice (which as you know is particularly important to me) no one ever said anything about it. Soup and salad is a very adequate lunch, and you'll find no more adequate one than at the Olive Garden. I think I'd like to go back some time, even though we eat very well at Hollenbeck. See you there!

I've been an Olive Garden apologist for many, many years.  I always liked their food despite knowing that it was Americanized, laboratory and market group tested, faux-Italian food.  It still tasted good, especially their soup and breadsticks and anything with their rich Alfredo sauce.

But I hadn't been to an Olive Garden in a good three or four years so perhaps my palette has changed, or is it possible that the previously consistent Olive Garden has gotten much worse?  Either way, it was a free meal thanks to Christmas gift cards so it should've tasted good regardless - free food always tastes good.  But no, it was bad, really bad.

The biggest reason for the utter failure of our meal?  Salt.  Whoa, that's some serious sodium.  The toscana soup was nothing but salt, the breadsticks were coated with it (to be expected) and the smoked mozzarella cheese dip was salt central.

Speaking of the cheese dip, it was seasoned all wrong, like they had to cover something up.  My wife is overly sensitive to old, possibly moldy cheese and that's what she tasted.  I didn't taste mold, but that's because all I got was salt, pepper and oregano (?).  Good god, how can you mess up a big bowl of cheese?  Seems impossible, doesn't it?  And since the Olive Garden is nothing but cheese, how can any of it get old?

For my entree, I had the Lasagna Rollatini with Chicken and it wasn't too bad.  Passable.  It was covered in their Alfredo sauce, so it's hard to go wrong there.  Unfortunately, it was a big pile of salt too and by the time I was halfway done with it, I just couldn't ingest any more sodium.  I wasn't full, I just couldn't eat any more.

To make the meal even worse, we were seated at a table right next to a servers station.  So the whole time, right next to me, in my personal space were servers, managers, bussers, etc.  Really, there's nothing better than having a managers butt on your shoulder while you are trying to eat.  Also, a reminder to servers, that little area isn't sound proof so don't run your mouth and complain that you "aren't going to refill their drinks anymore!"  Remember back of house, front of house etiquette.

After our meal, we looked at our gift cards and read that they were also redeemable at Red Lobster.  Bummer.  Mmmm...cheddar biscuits!  Not that Red Lobster is great, but it probably would've been much better than this stinker of a meal.

UPDATE:  We got a Tiramisu to go to kill off our gift cards and ate it the next night.  It was salty.  I'm not kidding.

Yeah, I like Olive Garden. So what? I like the salad. I like the lasagne. I like the appetizer sampler with fried ravioli, stuffed mushrooms and calimari. Really, the only reason I took away one star is that they took the decadent chocolate lasagne off the menu and replaced it with a boring molten lava chocolate cake.

Note to the waiter I had at lunch yesterday: If 20% of my check is $4 and you would like a 20% tip, don't leave a $5 bill and three $1 bills as my change. I ain't giving you the fiver.

We came to this Olive Garden to celebrate a birthday party. The service was pretty awful. We probably waited half an hour just to have our soups and salads served to us. We had two waiters so its pretty unacceptable for such a long wait. For being an Olive Garden, the food was surprisingly mediocre (we really like Olive Garden and haven't had a plate we found to be leas than exceptional until tonight). Even worse, we had to complain to the waiters that they never brought out the birthday boys lasagna! Paying our bill was horrendous too: we waited over half an hour just to pay! One of our party members received his bill while he was still eating (which is a big taboo in my book) yet everyone else had to wait around the terminal as the waitress tirelessly kept punching away on her screen trying to split the bill. My recommendation? Find another Olive Garden in the Oxnard area because this one fails to meet expectations to such a wonderful franchise. I only gave it an extra star just because at least one of our waitresses was helpful and considerate while the other gave us a bad attitude.

This place is best known for its all you can eat salad and breadsticks. A good place for families and friends. I've had mixed encounters with the service...it depends on your waiter. The food is average for an italian place. My personal favorite is the chicken scampi. It comes with noodles, chicken, and green pepper in a white cream sauce. Pretty good.

If you're super hungry go for the Tour of Italy. It comes with lasagna, fettuccine alfredo, and chicken parmigiana.

The desserts aren't all that great here. They do give you Andes chocolate mints with your check though!

    I like Olive Garden.

Pros: In September, they have the never ending pasta bowl. Which is a pretty good deal. The service is usually pretty darn good. They are a little pricey I think for what you get but not too bad.

Cons: There is always a wait.

If you are familiar with Olive Gardens then you can rest assured that this one is the same as any other Olive Garden.

Food is good, but a little pricey, soup+salid+breadsticks = $11.99 (ouch)

I barely classify this place as "Italian food." It's horribly over-priced, the service is very poor, the wait is very long...

I guess the bread sticks and pre-dinner salad are good but their entrees are only ok. I used to work near one of these and my coworkers loved to go here, sometimes I would join them and almost every time I would regret wasting my money at the Olive Garden.

The food isn't sickening, but its bland and mediocre.

I LOVE their endless soup and salad...but yes i get sick and yes i end up taking my tour of Italy home..but still do it. Had liminto lemon; it like lemonade slushy; thought it could be better.  service was good and food came out in a timely manner; so no complains at the olive garden in Oxnard.

The best experience I've ever had at an Olive Garden.  The food was so delicious and clearly fresh.  I didn't know that Olive Garden food and service could be this great!

Don't hate me for reviewing an OG chain .... I swore last time in AZ I would never eat at an OG again, but we were with a group and I had to.  Anyway - long story short - this one kicked butt.  I mean it surprised the heck out of me.  I really want to give this place something other than a 5, but it really was that good.  Check out the pictures, but I had the steak medalions, and they were killer.  Salad and breadsticks were perfect and everyone else seemed happy too.  The service was probably some of the best I have ever had, and they seemed like they enjoyed their jobs.  Really good surprise!

This was my first time at an Olive Garden, and I really liked it. We didn't have to wait long, and got a table quickly. The service was pretty quick considering how packed the restaurant was. Those breadsticks were unbelievable, none of us finished our meals because we ate so many of them. I got the lasagna, which was excellent. The only negative thing I noticed was the frozen arctic air conditioning that was blasting near us in the bar area.

Service is AWFUL. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL!!!!!!! I am Italian so I know amazing Italian good and this place would be like a Latino calling Taco Bell like mama's home cooking.   *blah* NASTY!

This is NASTY. One of the waiters was making out with the waitress near the kitchen area....that was gross....And my friend had a pube looking hair in her gnocci fagooli.... maybe it was corn husk she says.....NAH!

Came here with my bf and some friends and the food was alright. Calamari was good but very lightly breaded and it kept falling off. We all got the endless soup, salad, and breadsticks. Breadsticks were good, salad was eh, and the soups were horribly oversalted. The strawberry-mango lemonade I had was very refreshing though. Our server was very nice and always checked to make sure everything was going well. Decent, but not enough to come back for another year or so.

Well, what can I say...it's Olive Graden.  Not too bad for an Americanized Italian food chain.  I do think there are a little pricy though.
