I've been to this Olive Garden twice. Both times have been good, although our waitress when I went on New Year's Day for my brother's birthday was better than our waiter I had the first time I went there.

Alyssa was our waitress (I only remember because she had the same name as one of my daughters).  She started off by offering a complimentary taste of wine (I don't remember what it was...I just tried it to try it).  She was very thorough with explaining the types of soups they had, what their featured dishes were, etc. Also, she was very prompt with refills without asking, etc.

Everything was spaced out nicely as well. Appetizers came out first, followed by soups and salads, then entrees. I believe that it was a nice and relaxing dinner because of Alyssa's excellent customer service.

I had the dumpling soup (I don't remember exactly what it was called), but it was so good! I was pretty much full from that and the breadsticks. But then the chicken marsala came and I ate about half of it. This chicken marsala is one of my two favorites EVER. Although, I did get mashed potatoes instead of the roasted potatoes. It was all delicious!

My kids...eat like kids, so I'll probably go back with the boyfriend to order some adult food and drinks!

I love when my nephew asks if we can go to the place with the grapes above it (picture their logo)

All you can eat soup, salad and breadsticks. This is like a mini soup plantation but instead of unlimited soft serve you get an Andes mint for dessert.

I don't come to the OG expecting an authentic Italian eatery. I have been to Italy and nothing will ever come close. But for a comfortable family dinner, the Olive Garden is just right. And its my sister's favorite.

This location is always clean, easy parking, next to the mall, Bonus!

The best part of our dining experience at Olive Garden was our server!! James Dean was an amazing and very attentive server. It seemed like a busy night and even though his section seemed full, we never felt like our table was being ignored or an afterthought. James Dean made great wine recommendations. We ended up buying the bottle for our table. He also happily honored our request to share our entree and coursed our entire meal out perfectly. When I come back to Olive Garden, I will be sure to request to sit in James Dean's section again.

The food was okay, but what do you expect from an Italian restaurant chain in Tracy? I'd come back just for the good service alone.

You would think for a big chain restaurant like Olive Garden, the food and especially the service would be standard. This particular one in Tracy is way on the bottom of whatever standard that is!

My family went there for a special dinner; the place was almost empty except for 3-4 occupied tables but they made us wait 15 minutes to put two tables together and slap on some silverware. One of the servers, Kadie, was so sloppy she gave me the wrong food, dropped a pitcherful of drink and soaked my daughter's feet. Unbelievably rude, too. Not an apology or an effort to correct her stupid mistake. Pardon me.

The food sucked. From the salad-tomatoes are gross and slimey, the olives are too mushy-almost rotten, the caprese(which KADIE kept calling "caprice") is mushy too, the spaghetti smelled like spoiled milk. It was horrible! Their manager, Bill, tried to pacify us but we will never go back there. The wait time, rude & arrogant staff and the food? BLAH. The only thing good about this restaurant is the building itself because it's a newer one. Everything else sucked.

    Paper Napkin, Microwaved Italian Classiness....

Not a fan a chain restaurants but I went here with someone for the lunch, soup and breadsticks for lunch.

We got a waitress with a major attitude and skunk chunk highlights which I thought went out of style in 2000-2001.

Anyway, the above mentioned lunch is not rocket surgery but when asked to have salad dressing  put on the salad the wonderfully personable waitress exclaimed, "what is that?" at a splat of dressing on the edge of the bowl.

Apparently she was all pissy because we interrupted her busy job of conversing with a bus boy....So sorry.

Prior to this happening it took a good 15 minutes to get our drinks after we ordered them, soup refill requests were ignored, trying to signal this individual resulted in her running and hiding in the opposite direction, behind a wall so she could not be seen talking to her work buddies.

When the manager came over, at our request he did not seem to know what to do about the situation. He brought over a $10 gift card, our lunch was $21.00 so....I don't get it? Why not just comp the crummy lunch and be over with it? No, i'll give you a giftcard for less than half?

Apparently consistant inhalation of cow dung causes immense rudeness and helplessness.

    Never again!

Pretty good! I had the Asiago Ravioli with Chicken or Pear & Gorgonzola and that was tasty.  Steak Gorganzola Alfredo for the husband and mac N cheese for the youngen.   My party of 4 all had a good time.  There was a hair in my niece's dish but luckily she was almost done with it by the time she discovered it.  (Bleck) Garlic Herb Chicken con broccoli.
Service was friendly, I like how the waitress gets down at table level.  Seems so warm and welcoming.

Olive Garden restaurants vary by location.  The better Olive Gardens are well-managed and deliver the menu as intended.  The Tracy Olive Garden is one of the better Olive Gardens.

Olive Garden is a middle range chain with all the benefits and liabilities that that entails.  The menu is the same as other Olive Gardens.  There is no magic in the kitchen, no culinary surprizes.  But, when one sits down, one knows that the usual suspects will be available on the menu and that there will be a bottomless salad and that there will be warm bread.

Well, that is almost true.  The day we visited the waitress advised us that, we're out of salmon today, sorry.  A few minutes later the manager stopped over and said he hoped we enjoyed our meal and did the waitress mention that we're out of salmon today?  "No problem, I'll be quite happy with your eggplant parmesan."

On the plus side, a wine steward made her way over and asked me if I'd like a taste of red wine.  I was surprised and readily agreed.  It was good wine and, though I almost never order wine while dining out, I ordered a glass.

Our food was good but not spectacular.  The wait staff was very nice and capable.  Olive Garden is a good Italian alternative and we'll dine her again.  This Olive Garden is light years better than the Tracy Strings which would normally be the closest competition.

    **ATTENTION LADIES**

There's nothing worse, I mean NOTHING than a man, child or boy sitting in a restaurant wearing a hat.  If your married, got a man or just a friend who doesn't have the common sense or home training in dining etiquette to know better or understand that's its not only rude but bad manners to wear a hat indoors and at the table, LEAVE HIS DUMB A** AT HOME or take him to McDonald's or Burger King where the wearing of hats by guys is an expected sight.    Please don't take these folks to a sit down place with table cloths and silverware because chances are that's where I'll be.

Now that' I've vented, let me continue onto my review.

I've been here before.  Never thought the food was that great, but the kids were being "bug-a-boo's."  They had their minds set, so I gave in.

We arrived about ten minutes to five.  I walked inside and was told the wait would be about 45 minutes.  Yeah right.  I'm not waiting 45 minutes for a mediocre meal.  I can head over to Roe's place (Fabio's) and have a 5 star Italian meal.  Let's go.  "No Dad, I want to eat here."  Okay.  Okay.  We'll wait.

We we're called about twenty minutes later.  Once seated, we we're promptly greeted by our server who took our drink orders.  Of course, I wanted to sample some wines.

** Side Note:  They have gotten real stingy letting you sample wines.  I remember being able to sample as much of whatever I wished back a few years ago.  So what happened?

I ordered the claims in white wine sauce as an appetizer, which were pretty tasty.  The kids ordered calamari which they said was decent.  For my main dish, I ordered the never ending italian sausage resting on the top of Linguini in a alfredo sauce.  It too was pretty tasty, but nothing to brag about.  For desert, the wife, kids and I tried their new Dolcini's.  Not bad.  Mine (the Amaretto Tiramisu with Almond Cookie Crumble) tasted great with the rest of my Merlot and my double espresso.

Overall, OG is not a bad place, but it is a chain.  Not too much home made cooking goes on around here.

+ 2   stars for our server.  She was great.
+ 1   star for the food, decor and great music by Dean & Frank.
    -  2   stars for having to see men and boys wear hats indoors and at
            the table.

We had a "date night" at the OG this week and it was pretty bad, bad enough that I felt compelled to update my already "meh" review.

First of all we waited over 30 minutes to get seated.  Really?  On a Wednesday?

Second, one we were seated, we were more or less abandoned by our waitperson.  To her credit, she did swing by at one point to tell us she had a "situation", but we were more or less left hanging.

Third, the spousal indulged in the free wine taste and ended up ordering a glass, and found out when the check arrived it was a darn near 11 dollar glass.  Seriously, Olive Garden?  We had figured it was a five or six dollar glass.

Fourth, the food.  I firmly believe they are just microwaving frozen dinners back there.

I haven't reviewed this yet? I swear I have maybe *gasp* it was somewhere other than Yelp.  Does :-P~~~  count as a review? I seriously pondered posting that and nothing else..

This place is SERIOUSLY hit or miss as Sun E. seems to be finding :-( I've had a meal or two that was 4 stars but for the most part? It tastes like jar sauces and cheap pasta. I can do that at home for much less. The breadsticks taste like hotdog buns to us, the salad is OK. For a long time I would order the "tour of Italy" because I like variety.. but it started tasting more and more like frozen food :-(

The last time we were there the wine they were doing a tasting of was AWFUL like it had been opened for a very long time and gone bad.

    We went back.

    And we regret it.

That visit truly made us realize that the service and food is a hit or miss.
The "miss" visits are BIG miss visits.

FYI, people...they've downsized the menu extremely.
Two of the handsome man's favorite dishes were no longer available.
How dare they mess with the handsome man's food joy?!

    Service blew...holy crap!

After waiting ten minutes to be acknowledged, a young lady, who was
completely doused in perfume (ewww- a smell I didn't care for) finally
made it to our table to say our server as busy.

She took our drink orders and I told her I also wanted our food orders
taken as we'd waited a long time.

I won't get into much detail and bore you, yet our "designated" server
was actually stationed completely on the other side of the restaurant.
    WHY?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Seriously, management...WHY?

Sadly, the perfumed gal and another server had to take it upon
themselves to provide some of the service our designated dude
    slacked on.

Life is a learning experience, yes indeed.
What did we learn during this visit?
We learned that if it takes a long time to initially be acknowledged by
a server that it's best to walk the heck out the place.

    No...RUN!!!

No wait to be seated which is awesome and service was excellent but the most important part was the food and it was bad. I hadn't eaten at Olive Garden for like over 5 years and I now I know why lol First the salad and breadsticks are nasty! Little Caesars Crazy bread is waaay better! The salad didn't even have barely any dressing on it, so disappointing. I had the Chicken Marsala and it tasted like one of my Healthy Choice frozen meals I take for lunch and my husband had the Chicken Scampi and had like no flavor and barely any sauce also. It was like fake Italian food. The worst part about this dinner was the PRICE! Seriously Olive Garden?! No entree under $14 and so not worth the price. I would have been happy paying maybe $10 the most for our meals but they were $16 and some change, ridiculous! I will not be returning to ANY Olive Garden. I would rather try to make Italian food myself before I go back there and I am sure it would taste much better =)

I have a love/hate relationship with Olive Garden.

    Love:  Salad and bread sticks
Hate: Always waiting 15+ minutes to get a table

Love: Consistently good Americanized Italian food
    Hate: Parking is a bitch

    Love: Full bar
Hate: It's always freezing in there

Seeing as I've been to several "real" Italian restaurants in the past month and have been disappointed, it's no wonder I keep coming back here.  We always get enthusiastic and efficient service, despite the large customer crowd.  The bartenders always mix a perfect drink, and the food is always hot and good.

Yeah, it's a chain. But when a chain is more consistent than the one or two location "real Italian" restaurants, it deserves my business.

Took my mom here for her birthday lunch Saturday. Sat in the cafe. Our server was kind of weird... very soft spoken voice and he kind of had a staring problem but he was OK.

My biggest complaint is that they put hardly ANY dressing on the salad. I love OG's dressing but the bowl maybe had a tablespoon for it for 3 people. Boooooooooo!

The entrees were pretty good. I ordered the braised beef with asiago tortellini. I give the food a 7.5/10.

Will probably come here again but not often.

Sometimes the joy of a chain restaurant is you know exactly what you're going to get. This was a 3.5 experience, but I rounded up, because......well, it's Tracy.

We were seated quickly at a table, but I would have prefered a booth.  The food was exactly like it is at most OG's.  The dressing was a little heavy on the salad.  Our server was Wes, and he was a rockstar.  He had no problem splitting the check so everyone could do their expense reports!

Ok, so the new Olive Garden commercials have left me salivating for their Lasagna Rollatini with Chicken, so I invited my sis here for a late lunch after a busy morning of party planning in her hood.  This was my second time at this location and I don't know if my sis and I looked more attention grabbing than usual that day but we had awesome service! lol

Different servers kept coming up to our table and were overtly nice.  We pigged out and had the Lasagna Fritta as an appetizer and refreshed ourselves with their Pomegranate Margaritas.

The manager even ended up coming up to the table and thanking us after too, we felt a little odd after that because the table that was sat next to us, about 5 minutes after, started to complain about the horrible service they were receiving (granted they had ordered and 20 minutes had passed without being served their salad and bread.)  I thought it was unfortunate that the customer service wasn't consistent for every customer, especially because their complaints escalated.

Overall, their lack of consistent great customer service takes 1 star away because the tastiness of the meal, cleanliness of the dining room and bathrooms, kick in the drinks, and our service was superb!

Are we in a recession? Really? Then why does it seem like ALL of Tracy is here on a Friday night waiting for a table? The parking lot is always packed and even when you do get a spot, you'll surely be greeted by other standing couples/groups waiting for a table.

That said - I ate here late January and was pleasantly surprised. Before that, I seriously could not remember the last time I went to a OG - I personally prefer Macaroni Grill if I had to pick a chain "Italian" restaurant. But OG - it's movin' on up! Or maybe we just got lucky? I ordered the Steak Gorgonzola Alfredo and it was yummy - a bit too creamy, could have used more pasta. The steak was tender and not rubbery like I feared. My SO ordered the Stuffed Chicken Marsala and LOVED it. He loved the garlic mashed potatoes and the stuffed chicken. i tried some and had to agree, it was pretty damn good.

I didn't like the breadsticks but the salad was fresh and didn't have any wilted pieces. The waiter also brought me olive oil and balsamic, so I was all set. We left stuffed and with tons of leftovers - we ate them for lunch the next day.

I'd come here again, but only if there was no wait/line.

Well I am pleasantly surprised.  This place was great, and not a very long wait on a Saturday night either....about 45 minutes.

The service was quick and friendly, the food was really tasty, and the room was a little warm...almost too warm.  I am not one for chain italian, I prefer mom and pops, but if I had to go to dinner with friends again in Tracy I would go here (or Texas Roadhouse!).

I wouldn't normally rate a chain restaurant, especially a run-of-the-mill type place like Olive Garden.  But after a visit to the Tracy outlet stores, my sis-in-law had a craving for the all-u-can-eat soup-n-salad.

The salad was very crisp, that's what stood out food-wise.  But the service at this particular one was excellent.  The entire staff was very friendly and greeted you and said goodbye when you left.  The waiter was exceptionally helpful and friendly.

Can't recall a more pleasant time out in quite awhile... a few stars for that.

Love their all you can eat Pasta deals and their bottom-less salads..
You know you can order and reorder the sald bowls.. and it never ends.
The service is a bit average.. i mean you aren't at a fancy shamcy restaurant.. its just your average chain which hires high school to college kids for help!
Olive Garden is a favorite among American people and you can tell by the lines and the waits you have when you get there..
Dont go during school graduations either.. at the end of the school year.. it gets stupid crowded...
all in all its a place that will be with us forever no matter who you are or where you live.. there will be an Olive Garden fo shiznnel!

Came here on a Sunday around 330 and was seated quickly. After that, everything took forever! Took like 30 minutes after we were seated to get our bread sticks and salad! Ugh, I was starving. Then took another 20 minutes or so till we got our entrees. Lucky my sister was buzzing and it was funny watching her or else I would have made a scene about the wait. Then I asked the waitress if I could get another drink cause I didn't like the previous one I ordered and she kept forgetting. And I didn't want to keep asking or she would get mad and spit in my drink! Lol. Anyways all and all, the food was okay. I'm usually just there for the bread sticks and salad. Service sucked, or maybe it was just the waitress. She's lucky my sister and parents were feeling nice and still gave her a $15 tip. Blah. I would have given her $5 :)

The food here is always good, but the service is not-so-great.  Last time we came, the hostess said the wait was only 20 minutes.  It ended up being over an hour.  Our waiter wasn't very focused on serviing us, and when we paid with a gift card, he gave us the wrong one back (with a $0 balance, when we should have still had $20 left).  We didn't realize this until trying to use the card again and the card had $0.  I called the general manager, Sunil, and he could not help me over the phone.  He asked me to fax over the receipts and he would "look into it" and get back to me.  A week went by and I heard nothing (I really don't think he looked into it at all).  I called again and spoke to another manager, who was very responsive and gladly sent us a $20 giftcard.  I think he should be the general manager for responding to a customer so quickly.

We probably won't be back there for a while.

My 2 bff's and I went here for lunch on a Friday.  Not terribly crowded - food was good - our server was EXCELLENT!!!  Can't remember her name but she's in her 40's or so.  Very attentive.

Half way through the meal I slipped her some cash to cover our bill so I could pick up the tab before my friends even saw it.  When it came time to bring the bill instead of just putting my $100 in the leather folder with the check so I could see it was 39 CENTS (yes just .39) short, the MANAGER came over, held up Mr Franklin and said loud enough for other tables to hear "I've got good news and bad news."

I thought sure he was going to say the bill was counterfeit or something.  Nope.  The good news "we have a survey online that you can take and $4 off your next meal!!" (big deal)  "The bad news is you are .39 cents short."  GEEEEES - You would think I'd tried to STIFF them!!!!!  I was humiliated not because I was short but because they didn't have to make a SHOW of it and I was TRYING to be discreet in treating my friends to lunch.

Well of course all the wallets came out then and my friends insisted they had to help pay because I was SHORT!!!  grrrrr

This was our second time there and both times I've left wondering where they got their training.

This place is ok...I don't eat here often anymore i was hooked when i first tried it because of the wine tasting and the bread sticks with the red and white sauces mixed together. I got burned out on the pastas they are so rich and creamy and alot of the dishes have the same sauce on it so you kind of get bored. The soup and salads are good and they are all you can eat.

Why, oh why is every Olive Garden always PACKED?? I don't get it. I especially don't get the fact that my husband LOVES the OG, so he dragged the fam and me all the way out to Tracy one night. Bleh. We thought we were getting there at a time when everyone and their brother wouldn't be there, but--as usual--there were throngs of humanity everywhere. So we wait, and we wait, and we wait... for what?? "Italian" food?? I think not. Soup, salad and breadsticks for me. They can't mess those three up too badly. Just be prepared with lots of breath refreshment afterwards: the garlic on those bread sticks could be harnessed as some kind of WMD.

i love their T-bone steak, but it's a bit pricey. other than that it's good. I also love their unlimited salad and bread sticks.

Review long overdue from last year - so I tried this place once and once was enough for me, and I am being generous with 2 stars - really... read on my fellow Yelpers and enter Olive Garden with caution...

After a 20 minute wait outside and an additional 10 minute wait inside we were finally seated - we like the rest of the folk that had to wait just couldn't understand why we had to wait 30 minutes when half the restaurant was EMPTY!

After another 10 minute wait at the table the waitress finally came to take our order. It took her an additional 10 minutes to get us some glasses of water - so after 20 minutes of sitting at the table all we had was 3 glasses of water. 5 minutes later she came back with our drinks and another 5 minutes later with some bread. The food came out 45 minutes later- by this time we had lost our appetite. we had one salad and 2 pasta dishes- I was served the wrong salad with mushrooms (the salad i ordered didn't have mushrooms) and finally told the waitress I didn't want it . Both pasta dishes were soggy, the pasta was overcooked. Both ate a few bites and said enough. 15 minutes later she comes to check on us and we ask for the check explaining that it took too long, the food was not cooked and served the wrong order -she looked SURPRISED!  - go figure....She said she would come back with the check - wait, waiting, still waiting, a whole 25 minutes later the check comes. The check is incorrect, it belongs to another table. Waitress is back 5 minutes later and we tell her its the wrong check -she smiles and leaves. 10 minutes later we get the correct check.

We pay and leave and plan on never coming back here again.

The food and service is not worth the wait.

We get good service pretty consistently, but we also aren't there at the peak times.  We went most recently for their endless pasta bowl and it was great.  All the employees that we had were nice and friendly.

Minus one star because there was lipstick caked on a wine glass that someone actually put on the table.  It's pretty hard not to notice it, so I was grossed out that they didn't automatically take it back to be washed again.  ICK!

I've been to this location many times . . . It's one of the best locations I've visited. Great service and savory dishes! The wine sampling before the meal is a nice touch and has helped me discover new wines. Need a quick bite, I highly recommend the soup and salad - get the Zuppa Toscana!

Went to the O.G. a few night ago with the family.  The service was just OK.  It took so long to get our second helping of salad that the food had already come out. We were only asked once to refill our water when we both had near empty glasses.  My wife order the Steak Gorgonzola as medium rare, but it came out as medium, so we sent it back.  Bad experience this time, but in the past we had good service.  Maybe this was just a one-time deal.  I hope so since we enjoy the food.

my boyfriend and i came here looking forward to a great dinner, sad to say it was not so good. i used to eat at olive garden in san diego, when i was a kid... so i remembered it being good. i had eggplant Parmesan , it was not good... it was not fresh... tasted like the frozen eggplant  you buy at the store. he had some kind of shrimp pasta dish... he did not like it either, there was way to much oil or butter. the service was not the best either, after that we will not be returning. i was pretty disappointed to find one in the bay area and have it not be good. i would rather go to a mom and pop Italian place next time.
