1 review for Olentangy Indian Caverns
Olentangy Indian Caverns is on par with Prehistoric Forrest and Giant Balls of Yarn when it comes to places you'd see on a road trip that are worth pulling over for.
Olentangy Indian Caverns is not just about caves, it has a petting zoo with slightly cranky mini-horses, opportunities to pan for gold (SPOILER: you buy "gold" in a`pre-filled bag from the gift shop, you're gonna find something) and olde tyme gun fights all at one location. The gun fight was a little lame but the petting zoo will bring back memories and create photo ops for all.
As for the actual caves, the first hint I would give all cavern goers is to not worry about footwear as there is no real obstacles to climb over, and slippery-ness is not an issue. Also wear a jacket or wrap it around your waist eighties style as the cavern is "naturally air conditioned at fifty degrees year round". The caverns will feature a tour guide who for a mere nine dollars give you fun facts and guidance for an entire half- hour. Totally worth it as the caverns are full of history that include Indian chiefs and stage coach thieves. During the tour you can expect to see the crystal room that glistens with stalagmites, an underground river and squeeze your way through "fat man's misery".
Fun for families and bored twenty somethings alike. Olentangy Caverns is worth leaving the city for.
