I don't come here often because of the price, but when I do it is a good experience.  Expect to pay about $20 per plate during lunch (unless you get something common and non-sea food like a hamburger) and even more during dinner.

I really like the glass tables that allow you to look down to the water below the pier, but during most meals, you'll probably only see the green water and some kelp.  What I really enjoy is the view through the side windows where you can see boats, kayakers, pelicans dive-bombing the waters for lunch, and sometimes some marine life.  The view is very pleasant, so I'd opt to go during the day during lunchtime so you can actually see it.  During dinner, there's not much to see below the tables nor out the windows.

The food was very good and we got the stuffed prawns (wrapped in bacon and filled with cheese) and the "combo platter" which comes with different fried seafood and fries.  Loved the food and the service.  It came with a small cocktail sauce, ketchup, and tartar sauce on the side and the waitress would of course ask if we wanted more when she saw it diminishing.

My suggestion would also be to park in the parking lot if you're going there during the day.  There is parking on the pier right next to the restaurant, but you miss the beautiful scenery if you drive past it all.  Walking out there, you'll see people fishing, tons of pelicans, sea lions (we even saw one who took refuge basking in the sun in someone's boat).  If you come here for a date, definitely take the time to walk across the pier instead of driving.  At night, I'd probably just drive across because the pier is uneven and I've heard of someone who sprained an ankle walking across it at night.

Pros
- There are glass covered tables that you can see through the floor and to the water.  Awesome.
- The back patio is perfect for sunsets
- The seals make for an entertaining sight.

Cons
Do not, I repeat, do not order any of the fried seafood plates.
Skimped on the cocktail sauce for my shrimp.

First, the location. You can park in the big lot, or drive onto the pier. Being lazy, I prefer to drive onto the pier for prime parking. But be warned, the wood doesn't seem too sturdy and its a bit scary. Apparently at night there are seals right underneath the pier that you can gawk at, and the view from the inside of the restaurant is quite nice.

Went here with for a friend's company banquet. The food was served buffet style, and it was pretty good. They served salad (didn't try any, I hate most greens, why waste room in your tummy with that!), some potato gratin type of dish (soo good), some type of fish and salmon (not bad). I'm not too sure on the price of the food, but if it were about $17 for an entree I think it would be worth it.

I was pleasantly surprised at the bar after I ordered a drink and they served up a complimentary plate of sauteed mushrooms in a delicious butter sauce. Sooo good. And I love free.

Butttt my favorite part about this place??? Out front they have a small market with LIVE crab!! Finally, I found a place to get some crab around here. Bought a dungeness for about $8/lb. Pretty expensive, but it was so good. Totally worth it.

Great! I had the seared scallops and prawns. Cooked to perfection! Followed by homemade chocolate mousse...delicious.  All overlooking Avila Bay. What more could you ask for?  :)

I came here with my bf for our 2 year anniversary. We got a table right by the window so we could see the pack of seals roaming about in the waters. It was a beautiful view. I ordered the shrimp cocktail and my bf ordered the combo and chips.
The shrimp were tiny but the cocktail sauce was delish. I was surprised I was full afterward. Oh and I had some of my bf's dish- the shrimp, scallop, calamari, and fish. I probably ate all of his scallops because they were pretty damn good. The fries were ok...but I prefer less fries.
Overall the portions were huge but the prices...I don't know if i'd want to come back.  I think I'll just stick with Splash Cafe and Giovanni's in Morro Bay.

I had lunch there today and it was the right place with the right meal. The weather was beautiful and the view over the ocean is stunning. I was hankering for fresh fish and vegetables, something that seemed impossible to find in the Pismo Beach area.

First the cup of clam chowder was very good: it was clearly homemade with lots of bacon, potatoes, red pepper, celery and clams. Then the lunch special was perfect for my wishes: fresh rock cod grilled with a beurre blanc sauce and sautéed snap peas, crisp cauliflower florettes and julienned carrots. Very large portions.

It was good honest fresh food.

"The coolest thing about this place is the location and the tables.  THe tables are little windows that look down into the water.  It has upscale prices ($24-40) with low-scale ambience.  I got the greek scallops and calimari, the sauce was really good but the scallops were overdone.  And I wasn't a big fan of the scalloped potatoes with curry sauce, odd combo.  The clam chowder and sourdough was really good tho.  My date got one of the specials, salmon with a soy and wasabi glaze, pretty good.
This is a good touristy place if you are taking your rich uncle or something."

OK - I admit it - I keep coming back to this place and give it 5 stars because of their UNIQUE glass bottom tables. It's all in the details :-) But seriously, for what it is  - a casual, informal, laid back restaurant/bar on the pier - what's not to like?  The food is good, beers cold, service friendly. Just a cool place to hang out and enjoy the day.  And don't park on the pier (unless some of your party members have trouble getting around). Walk - it's half the fun.

i have to say ... for a pier restaurant located all the way at the end of town, this place sure is crowded.  the wait was way too long for the 4 of us (over an hour, because we wanted the indoor patio, which had the better view...but it didn't matter anyway because by the time we were seated, couldn't see shit).

the food is slighty above average, and the specialties are pricey.

the coolest thing about this place is really the pier.  at night, all the seals chill out underneath, and you can literally see them up close.  and its also nice to look up too, when its dark, because you can actually see the milky way.

Definitely order the Australian lobster tail!  It was amazing ... creamy and delicious, and a nice portion too.  The location is also quaint and charming ... on the pier at Avila Beach.  We were there at night though so we didn't get to enjoy the view.  The ocean sounds were nice though.  Wearing heels isn't the best choice since you have to walk on the pier to get to the restaurant.

The service needs some work though.  We were a large party of 28 and divided into 3 tables with different serveres.  The other 2 servers were very attentive but my waitress was a total space cadet.  She never brought me water, after I asked her twice, and she never offered us dessert, and seemed to be rushing us out the door.

I'd like to try the restaurant again during the day and enjoy the view.

Thank god for business trips where you can eat for free.  This place is located on the end of the Avila Beach pier.  They specialize in seafood and they have any type you want.  The food itself was maybe a little above average, but nothing all that great.  It has great ambience; everybody is having a good time.  You may want to plug your nose walking out to the pier though; there is a serious seal smell and noises all the way to the entrance.  (But if you had to listen to some of the people I work with, seal noises sound like Tibetan chimes)

i'm not a fan of the food here. it gets worse each time i go, actually. the jumbo shrimp wrapped in bacon appetizer is good, the main entree's are unimpressive (i had the cioppino and fishermans' platter?), but their homemade caramel toffee cheesecake is great.

they've got tables with windows in them so you can peer through the pier and into the water beneath you...the novelty of which is neat, but isn't all that astonishing. not only do you see the water, but the debris and passing kayakers.

I've only drank here, never had their food.  It's basically your typical end-of-the-pier / fisherman's wharf seafood restaurant.  The ambiance is fun given its location and the rather active sea lions, and the restaurant interior is pretty much what you'd expect - lot's of varnished wood.  The prices are also typical for this type of restaurant in that they're a bit on the high side.

We were visiting friends and they took us here for lunch. Location is the end of a pier and a traditional sort of seafood bar and restaurant. The food was excellent, "Fish n' Chips" were some of the best I've had in years. Good fresh taste and texture and not at all greasy or dripping with oil. Service was very good. Look through each table with a glass bottom and view harbor seals and sea lions with the everpresent sea gulls. It is a great, informal atmosphere and was also crowded.
