So my husband absolutely loves to play Keno on the weekends. Our old hang out used to be the Crackpot in Towson for this very reason. We've since moved to White Marsh, and finding a new locale for this purpose was difficult. I'm pleased to report that we now have a new townie bar, and it's the OPI.
The food is pretty good - along the same lines as a casual American place like Bill Bateman's or Padonia Station. Lots to choose from, crab dip (and crab pretzels), and a menu with everything from sandwiches and burgers to filet mignon. In season, this seems like a good place to get a dozen crabs or so and have a beer. I usually check for something interesting on their specials, my husband defaults to the Philly Cheesesteak. The service is good, the food is good, and they not only have Keno, but Racetrax too (if you're into that sort of thing).
But perhaps my favorite thing about the OPI is that there's a chalkboard in the bar that always asks a thought-provoking, existential meltdown type of question. Last time we were there, I believe it was "What song would you play on the jukebox if you wanted everyone in the bar to sing along?" Others have included "If you could have one superpower..." and "If you had to lose a finger or a toe..." They're always good for conversation, even if your spouse likes to ignore you to watch his numbers hit.
I am not a local, but I have been here a few times when I've visited the area. But this place is GOOD! I looove the crab pretzels and their insanely large salads. I ate about half the blt salad and I was stuffed!! My one star off is, because its a little pricy for the somewhat shabby location its in. But over all a good place!!
