Alot of guys in Phlly have been raving about this place, so I decided to give it a try. Also seems u yelpers also highly recommend this place.

When u walk in you are greeted by a very helpful aand friendly asian girl who walks through the whole process with you. She has some crazy tats so its safe to asssum she is an expert in the whole process. Oddly she hasnt got a tattoo there.

Well, I decided to get my tat there and boy was i impressed. Steve tiberi is great. He does great custom work and actually became a tattoo artist the old fashion way: apprenticeship.

My tattoo came out great and is healing very nicely. I was so impressed i actually put a deposit on a second tattoo the same day.

And guys dont forget to tip your artist!!!

this place is great.  super friendly staff, talented artists, great vibe.  an all around aura of trustworthiness and professionalism; when you come here with a well-thought-out idea and a respect for the talent, you're going to get a great tattoo.

the piece i wanted was based on an old pen and ink-wash drawing.  gus was able to render the subtle shading perfectly, and was up front about how big the tattoo would have to be in order to look quality.  came out awesome.

if you're an asshole to people who are clearly the best around and try to act like you're more knowledgeable about what they do best than they are, of course you're going to feel like you weren't treated nicely.  you wouldn't hire someone to decorate your house and then ignore all their advice and expect them to take credit for the result.

if you're actually interested in what they have to say as artists and who they are as people, you'll have a really great time.  just chuck the attitude and be yourself.  it's not like you have to prove anything.  if you want to act like a hard-ass and get some shitty flash put on you while you're drunk, go to south street.  just don't think that olde city will be too polite when you show up to try to get your mistakes cleaned up.

I have gotten about 90% of my tattoos here.  Everyone who works there are the best of the best.  Hands down, this is as good as it gets. Haters,  Stop complaining about the pricing, a tattoo is not something you want to skimp on and if you are going back for multiple session they will totally work with you on price.  You really do get what you pay for here, its amazing work, some of the best you will ever see or have.
go.

After having a terrible experience at another tattoo shop [see past reviews] I went to Old City - still aggravated from experiences earlier that morning - upon recommendation from one of my friends. She has a couple of simple but meaningful tattoos and always gave the place a good review.

I was surprised at how small the place was but quickly found the staff cool, laid back, and super understanding of the designs I was trying to replicate. It was an original design I had come up and was told at another shop that it "wasn't possible because you can't do fine lines" in the area I had wanted it. The guy told me that was bullshit and that I should have given her the finger. Lol.

Anyway, I was told to come back at 6-ish for my appointment. When I came back he had taken my little sketch and drew exactly what I had wanted but couldn't get out on paper because my art skills don't extend to drawing very well. The fine lines and shading are unbelievable. If you see me on the street you have to check out my leg - meaning the tattoo you pervs!

I absolutely love my new ink and will definitely be back for more!

Well, I finally took the leap, gathered enough courage (I walked around the block about three times) and got my first tattoo.  What an absolutely comfortable, clean and cool place to get a tattoo.  After many recommendations, I decided on Olde City Tattoo.  My friends and colleagues were dead on.  This place is just awesome.

I ended up walking in with my dorky picture of the Atari logo, showed it to the friendly girl at the counter and she immediately hooked me up with an artist, who quoted me a bit expensive, but overall ok price.  I'm willing to pay for quality.  These guys were absolute professionals.  They worked with me to get the exact size that I wanted.  It's a very laid back atmosphere.  I spent the entire time talking to the guys about video games.  I never thought I would end up in Olde City Tattoo surrounded by gamers.

These guys eliminated any fears/reservations about getting a tattoo.  As a result of a the spectacular experience I had here, I find myself extremely excited to get another tattoo...And you can bet it will be at Olde City Tattoo.

I was referred to Olde City Tattoo about 3 years ago by my sister who said Steve, the guy who had done her tattoo's, was really awesome.  I made my appt. and put down a $25 dollar deposit on a $250 tattoo.  The appt. rolled around, Steve did my tattoo quickly and I was really happy with it.  BUT, when it came time to pay he charged me the full $250, totally disregarding my deposit.  I had asked him about it and he totally ripped me off, saying it was the right amount.

3 weeks ago I scheduled for another appt. figuring I was happy with my previous tattoo.  This time, they asked me to put down $40 on a $200-$250 tattoo.  I went in the following week only to be told by Steve that he wouldn't be able to do what I wanted (lettering down my spine in Old English).  Not only could he not do what I wanted, he wouldn't give me my deposit back.  My appt. is today and I am just really pissed off.  I will never ever go back to these cocky, shady thieves ever again.

I went here upon recommendation of a friend and had heard good reviews.. but I really didn't have the best experience here.

I wanted something relatively simple and small -- a small detail of the face from Hedwig and the Angry Inch's "Origin of Love" in plain black outline, with a small pink outline around one half and a small blue outline around the other. I was told that it was impossible to do. I also wanted it on the underside of my wrist, and was told that that would be impossible, as well. After begrudgingly changing my design and location, and Gus begrudgingly did the tattoo. He shaded both halves unevenly, went out of the lines in one spot, and charged me $150 for something I felt was nowhere near worth that.

It doesn't look too bad, and I'm still glad I have the tattoo, but I'll never go back here again. When I get a body mod done, I want the people who are going to be permanently altering my body to be nice, personable -- people I can trust to do the requested service. And I want them to talk things over with me as if I'm a valuable customer and not an annoyance. And I definitely didn't get that here. They just didn't seem to like me from the get-go.

I always recommend this place to my friends. One of my favorite tattoos was done by Martin. Everyone was really cool and clean. I definitely plan on going back and getting much more done!

unless i was getting some kind of small souvenir tattoo, i wouldn't go anywhere else in philadelphia. it's stupid how good these guys are! martin lancaster is one of the most talented AND nicest dudes ever. also josh hoffman did some incredible work for me that i'm so super stoked about, even months later.

the shop is clean as hell and everyone who tattoos there knows what they're doing. maybe not the best place to walk in and get something small and uninspired, but if you go with any idea ever, someone there will know how to get it done and get it done well.

some might say it's pricy but for something you'll arguably have forever, do you really want to cheap out??

i only got one simple tattoo here.marty did it. he was nice and its fun in there. altho my piece was simple, i have seen so much of their work on friends and its fab. not the place to go when just getting something anyone can do. it seems theyre almost annoyed with that. they are truley artists and good people.

this place is ok. some of their artists have great tattooing skills while others not so much. came here with a friend to finish up her back piece. its pretty expensive but that is to be expected. they did a good job with straight lines, good colors etc.

I was lead here on the basis of several recomendations. My family is heavily tattooed and know the tattoo scene well (conventions, been around this scene for 20 plus years)  I showed up for my first tattoo when i was 18 with a friend. Steve Tiberi drew up for me a great custom tattoo that still gets compliments! I have returned several times as I am completing some larger projects. These guys will guide you to a better tattoo. Nothing to small, as I have seen many females come in and leave satisfied with small 40 dollar tattoos. Not to much on the internet from these guys, great customer service from their booker. Some artists have moved on, but the core is still there, and anyone who earns a seat here is no fly by night artist. These days with the popularity of tattooing many shops are here today, gone tomorrow. Everyone here is full time with at least a decade of experience.  Steve Tiberi is great. J Goldberg is prolific,Marty Lacasse is a color wizard.

best place in Philly, hands down. right now every artist that works there is wonderful. some are out of this world. Josh Hoffman, Dave Fox, and Jay Goldberg have been tattooing and working together for a long long time and their work proves it. not only are they talented tattooist but theyre talented artists. you can buy their books and posters and shirts at the shop or online. this shop isnt the place to go if you just randomly decide to get a tattoo. its a shop you go to when you have a well thought out idea and want someone creative to bring your idea to life. they know what theyre doing, so be open to their suggestions and ideas. theyre not a cheap shop but theyre charged you what their work is worth. its going to be on you for life, not a month. so save up and call to schedule an app at least a month ahead of time. or better yet, go into the shop first, check out the artists and their work and than schedule an app. that way no one is wasting anyones time.
