3 reviews for Old Village Post House
I've been to the Post House many times but have been twice in the past two weeks. Both times my experience was good but not great. The first time I went with three other people and we wanted a specific table so we could watch the Olympics (this was in the bar area). The waitress was really accommodating about it but the manager got his feathers in a ruffle that we weer asking them to turn a three top into a four top. We didn't see the issue but apparently he felt this was a fire hazard. Anyways, after a short lecture, he let us stay put but the whole conversation should have never happened.
We each were happy with our meals. I got a burger that was a little under cooked for my taste but overall it was good. The pimento cheese was a nice touch!
The second time was with a group of 7 other women for a friends birthday party. We sat outside and had good service that went downhill throughout the night. I don't know if the guy was getting tired of bringing out wine or what. We had an easy order - 7 burgers (it was $5 burger night -wahoo!) but he acted like we were exhausting him. The icing on the cake was him taking 50 minutes - no lie - to get our bill (after we had to check on him THREE times). By the time we got the bill we were all annoyed and just ready to move on. I will say that a female manager came out and apologized for our wait which was nice.
Bottom line - try this place but there are plenty of other places to go in Mt. Pleasant.

A group of five middle aged women went there for their $5 burger, served between 5 and 7 pm. We arrived at 7:07pm, having driven approx. a half hour to get there. The owner would not serve us the special, even though this was a week day night and the restaurant was not even close to half filled. He would have made plenty of money off of cocktails and beer and to think that a restaurant can afford to turn away patrons in this economy. Our hostess had specifically wanted to bring us to this place and yes, we were a few minutes late due to misjudging the travel time. We won't be back and I am sure our hostess won't either. She was quite embarassed by the rude owner. We went to Vickery's and had a great seafood dinner-highly recommended!!
The food was great and it's on a very quaint street in Mt. Pleasant.

History
Established in 2003
Among the moss-draped oaks of the Old Village of Mt. Pleasant you can dine and relax in the centuries-old tradition of the post house -- wayside inns where travelers stopped overnight for good food and friendly conversation. The beautifully restored building dates from the 19th century, but the food and service are up-to-the-moment. We feature Lowcountry dining favorites with the famous Maverick touch, and there's a classic tavern that is a gathering place for friends from near and far. And the inn offers six delightful rooms only minutes from the beaches and downtown Charleston. Private diring rooms available for groups from 10 - 65.
