I came here with a group of 6 people on a Saturday (or was it Friday?) evening and was seated immediately. Add one star.

The menu is quite large for a Korean restaurant (imo) and I ordered the seafood soup the udon noodles. Originally I came in wanting Soondooboo Chigae but I couldn't pass up udon noodles. My soup was very good. The seafood, which consisted of clams, mussles, squid and shrimp, was fresh, the broth was overly fishy tasting or thick, and my noodles were just chewy enough without tasting rubbery or overly cooked. My friends has the grilled beef bbq and liked it a lot. My bf had the spicy tofu soup and also like it a lot.

All in all, I would say that this is my favorite Korean restaurant. The prices are just a little higher than other (more hole-in-the-wall) Korean restaurants, but the setting, decor, quality of food, and polite, timely customer service will keep me coming back to OVKR.

One Friday night, I became nostalgic for my favorite Japanese BBQ restaurants in LA, Gyukaku. I missed the marinated meats, the hot charcoal grill, and most of all bibimbap (yummy rice with veggies, meat, sauce served in a hot stone pot).

Enter Old Village Korean Restaurant. Two marinated meat plates, mushroom plate, kimchi bibimbap, and 7 of those mini complimentary appetizers later, we walked away with 2 ginormous food babies and enough leftovers to feed an entire village.

(okay, maybe not an entire village, but definitely enough for another 3-4 meals)

Here are the top 3 reasons why I love this place:
3)  The seafood hot pot has a rich and delicious flavor b/c they leave the shrimp heads on. . .
2) They have a ton of refillable tasty side dishes. . .
1.5) There's an entertaining suction fan above the grill that moves up and down. . .

and the number #1 reason why I love this place. . .

1) the Korean bbq is cooked over COAL (not gas burners)!

I went here last night after a long hiatus, but when my friend and I were craving Korean food and didn't want to make the journey further north we settled on Old Village. I would rate this place 3.5 since seating is not usually hard to get, plenty of parking (since it's located in a shopping area of sorts), and the kalbi soondooboo had a lot more to it than most other places. Downsides - we weren't asked how spicy we wanted our food and it came out not spicy at all, and every time we go the service is always slow even when it's not busy (there is, however, a bell to press when you want the waiters' attention, then it becomes a waiting game).

Overall this place is pretty consistant with the quality of food they serve, but it's not really worth the prices they charge. I would only suggest it to people who don't want to journey further for something more.

So sherilskee and her boy took me here one night after work, the place being, apparently, one of their favorite places... and I was impressed. The interior looked pretty nice, and the people there were SUPER friendly. Not to mention, the food was really good. I am in bliss, savoring the kalbi, et al. I am amused by the vent that sucks up all the smoke off the grill.. while I can't see the people I'm talking to..

My pastor is Korean and always talking about kimchi. I'm black so I had no idea what that meant. After my trip to OVK I am a believer.

I came alone and don't recommend that. The BBQ is only available for parties of two more. So I had to sit at this long table in the middle of the restaurant solo. It took me forever to order as I was a true newb and the female wait staff weren't to friendly. The guy was awesome though and he helped me a lot. I ordered the seafood pancake (which is listed as pizza on the menu FYI) based on recommendations. It's huge and I felt like a total pig when they set it in front of me. Oink aside, this invention is award worthy. I ate two pieces it wasso good. I also ordered some claupot thing with rice, noodles, mushrooms and other stuff. It was great. They give you a ton of sides as well. Not sure who ears all this food!!!

Overall I give this place 3 stars because the food was awesome bit the female staff kind of suck. I sat at that bigass table in the middle by myself and try didn't refill my water ever and it took them a decade to bring me a check or Togo box. Not cool. Actually I'm still here so maybe that's a deal breaker. No tip for you!!!!!

With two friends, made my third visit to Old Village on a Friday night. SInce I was last there, the place has been extensively remodeled, and now has the sheen of a typical upscale Koreatown (LA) place. Everything we ordered was good, from the roasted-barley-and-corn tea served hot as soon as we sat down through the excellent kyoza dumpling soup (which might have been served hotter), the bulgogi (rib steak) the galbi (marinated short ribs) and the fresh bacon (= pork belly). We grilled the meats over charcoal right at the table. The banchan (side dishes, including kimchi) were excellent. Service was prompt, informed, friendly, and speedy. (What was wanting was better beer: like most Korean restaurants, Old Village serves only OB and Hite, both Korean, which are terrible. The proprietors would do well to stock some of the excellent Northwest beers; any of many IPAs, for example, would complement the wonderfully savory and spicy food.)

If you haven't tried Korean cuisine, here's as good a place to start as you'll find. If you already know it, you'll appreciate Old Village & its many offerings all the more.

Visit #1

6:00 - still deciding what to eat
6:30 - start the yelp search
6:45 - search "korean" in seattle
7:00 - leave for shoreline
7:20 - ask for a table for 2 with the barbecue burner thing and get seated right away
7:30 - cooking our spicy pork and bulgogi, with 8 sides and a huge-ass salad...and can I just say the best fucking onion we've ever eaten?  AND the vent moves up and down, reducing the amount of smoke in your face while giving you enough room to cook your meat (har har har).  AND the wait staff keeps an eye on you so they can help you out if you're moving too slow.

Visit #2

Exactly one week later, no debating this time, we went back to try the non-barbecued food.  I was highly impressed when they seated the two of us at a table for eight...points for prioritizing our seating over their waiting for a smaller table to open up.  This time we went for the meal for two:

two different kinds of stew - mixed seafood and the soybean soup with amazingly big pieces of beef
fried fish (kinda dry)
bulgogi (with more of those amazing onions)
steamed egg (which I was so excited about, but let down when I found it had been overcooked)
geez, there was more, but now I don't remember what else there was...we were stuffed

HOWEVER, as we were waiting for our food to arrive, we heard a familiar croon...

"Bayyy beee I-i-i-i-i wanna be...your soul provider"

Then: "te-e-ell meee...how can we be lovers if we can't be friends?  how can we start over when the fighting never ends...?"

What I said: "omg, Michael Bolton?" *sour face*

What I thought: omg the entire Soul Provider album!  I got this on cassette tape at the same time i got the mariah carey self-titled debut album!  oooOOOooooo nostalgia!  All these songs are burned into my memory, and look, I'm singing them!

I mean uh...yeah.

But then, it transitioned into "said I loved you, but I lied..." and the sour face turned honest.

Late '80s Michael Bolton = nostalgia
Late '90s Michael Bolton = yech.
Actually, too much of any Michael Bolton + overcooked steamed egg = lose a star

Went here last Saturday with friends to celebrate mine & my best friend's birthdays. It was 8:00pm and we had a party of 6, but we didn't have to wait too long for a BBQ table (about 15-20 minutes).

Food was pretty good--we ordered various meats to BBQ, a Seafood Pancake and a Combination Soondubu. We didn't really dig the banchans (kimchi, radish, lotus, kelp, broccoli, bean curd, potato salad, ...) though the best friend was stoked that they offered potato salad. The Soondubu was sort of disappointing to me, it wasn't very spicy and there wasn't much in it.

We understood that the staff was busy, but they kept forgetting things we asked for. For example, when our waitress dropped off our Seafood Pancake, she didn't bring any plates and when we asked for an extra bowl of rice or beer glass, we had to ask a few times. That was pretty much the only thing that bothered us.

I want to come back again, but until then... 3.5 stars.

my side kick and I dine here a couple of days ago, as we walk in the newly remodel dining room look amazing and very clean, nothing like the old village I remember ten years ago. we order the seafood pancake, grilled mackerel, fried oyster, Korean dumpling and the mix seafood hot pot. Everything arrived at our table, prompt, yet very quickly. The seafood hot pot is my favorite dish of all, everything was fresh, delicious and they make it spicy just the way I like it.

I wish that the service could be a little more attentive, play a little more
attention to your customer, walk around a bit and ask some questions
if your customer are doing alright? or how the food? or can I get you anything else? would you like some more water? none of these things happened whiles I was there having dinner. the service suck!!!

p.s. yes I am aware that they have a buzz for service button, but they're still suck!!!

It was the day before my birthday and my family and I decided to head up to Shoreline for some good ol Korean BBQ.

I was so surprised by the cleanliness of this place. I'm so used to eating at run down Korean joints with the outdated decor and the scary bathrooms.
Not only is this place super clean and tastefully decorated, the food is off the hook.

We ordered the marinated short ribs (galbi) for 4 people. The fan came down from the ceiling (neato) and the grill actually used real coals. You can grill the meat yourself, or you can have the waiter do it for you while you stuff your face.

The galbi was already pre-cut which was nice and later, the bone was served which surprisingly had plenty of meat on it. The meat was perfectly marinated, the perfect combination of sweet and salty.

If you order any of the grill entrees, you also get a heaping number of side dishes - my favorite was the spicy raw crab and the potato salad as well as a pot of savory soybean paste stew (dwenjang jigae).

We also ordered the cold noodles (nyangmyun) which I didn't think was all that great. Apparently, they make the noodles themselves which is pretty cool. I just didn't find the noodles to be as refreshing as it should be.

If you're looking for a Korean BBQ spot, look no further. Old Village is http://bomb.com.

Been years since I've eated Korean food, so I don't remember much. One thing I do remember is that they didn't have those cool vent hoods that came down to the grill so that the place didn't get all smoky. High tech, yo.

We got the seafood pancake as an appetizer, but it actually came out after the assorted seafood bbq platter and the rib eye steaks. Pretty cool being able to cook your own food on the grill, which is part of the fun, but I also wondered about whether or not I wanted to be "cooking" when I went out for dinner. Luckily I had someone with me who was into it and kept things going. Rocked.

I thought we'd be totally slammed with food, but it was just enough, and we had the seafood pancake as "dessert" since it came out last. The seafood platter had shrimp, scallops (only two, though), squid, and oysters. I prefer raw oysters, but these were huge so putting them on the grill seemed like the thing to do.

The rib eye was 2 huge slabs that were cut (with scissors) at our table into more bite sized portions, and along with the meal came all the delicious veggie sides to spice things up.

Even though it was just the 2 of us, they still let us sit at the bbq station even though the menu says that the bbq is for more than 2 orders (so maybe it was a good thing we also got the seafood pancake.)

At any rate, if you like playing with your food, go have some Korean bbq. And make sure you go with someone who's handy with the tongs.

This is the best Korean BBQ that I've been to! The food was yummy and the service was great.

We had a combo of the marinated meats including beef, kalbi, pork, and chicken and also a seafood pancake. Everything was delicious. It's a little far for me but well worth the drive.

I've been to many Korean restaurant, but so far this place is my favorite.  The decor was nice modern feel to it, and the menu has a variety of selection.  As far as the food and service, it wasn't the best, but pretty good.  The best part to me  is that their ventilation duct  hanging above the grill moves up and down and sucks all the air, so your clothes don't smell like BBQ all day.

Now being a non-carinvore I have not had the bbq here, but I can attest the other dishes are quite fantastic.  I recommend the sun du bu (tofu stew) or the mixed seafood rice bowl (hamul dol sot bi bim bap).  Oh and like any real Korean place, dont be afraid to ask for more of the yummy side dishes.

My only complaint would have to be that I ordered a side of  dok pokki (rice cake with red pepper and fish cake), and it cost 8 bucks which I thought was a little steep for what goes into it.

Lunch portions of the food are more than plenty and the price is reasonable too.  Atmosphere is nice and the service is prompt in that not so friendly but efficient Korean way.

This is the real deal, folks. Fire, hot coals, and luscious meat. It really brings out the inner caveman in all of us. Watch the men at your table as they suddenly transform into your dad on the Fourth of July.

The standard dinner menu includes a lot of expensive choices, but there is also a different menu that includes assortments of meat; you may have to ask your server to get this menu. If you are in a small group and don't want to commit yourself to that $30 tray of galbi for the whole night, be sure to ask about the special dinners.

We ordered a dinner that came with about seven different types of meat and the usual assortment of banchan. It could have probably fed more than two people, but my boyfriend and I were a bit gluttonous that night.

Additionally, there are call buttons at each table! Because grilling meat is even better with instant gratification. It works much better than Larry David's bell system.

I really wasn't sure if I needed reservations for a party of 6 @ 7:45 on a Friday night, so I called the day ahead and the woman on the phone assured me that we had a reservation.

Skip forward to Friday evening...let's face it, this place is located in an asian strip-mall on Aurora Avenue North.  Don't expect anything fancy or too polished.  We arrived only to find out that nobody knew about the reservation.  The gentleman we spoke with seemed a bit hurried and was very short with us.  He kept insisting that we did not have a reservation even though I had called only one day before.  After a bit of intense chatting over whether or not we would be able to sit at a barbecue table, we were able to sit only 10 minutes after our actual time.

The restaurant on the inside defies it's strip-mall likeness.  Seating is comfortable if not a bit on the 'cozy' side, and our bbq booth barely fit the six of us without jabbing each other in the gut with our elbows.  (mind you, we are all fairly slight in stature).  It is lit surprisingly well, and the ventilation hood over each table is incredibly efficient and fairly quiet.

We were welcomed to our meal by a large bowl of salad greens lightly dressed with an off-bitter flavored vinagrette.  I might be asian, but I still have a hard time eating salad with chopsticks...forks appeared shortly thereafter.  Appearing shortly after were about 12 different plates of the standard korean kim-chi such as cabbage, sprouts, baby bok choy, along with an oddly dry ball of sweetened mash potato....and several items that I could not recognize, but were interesting nevertheless.

All the while the server had come by and placed some hardwood lump charcoal into our bbq grill (dugout in the middle of the table) which was lit by a gas burner underneath it.  The ventilation hood was then lowered to not only vent out the smoke, but to also accelerate the fire.

Perhaps 5 minutes later the food began to arrive at which time the vent hood was raised and our server began tossing pieces of meat onto our 12"x15" grill.

We ordered chicken, rib steak, the ubiquitous kalbi short-ribs, the seafood platter (prawns, scallops, calamari rings, and oysters on the half-shell), and the mushroom platter.  Our table was near overflowing.  The chicken and kalbi both were marinated in the standard sweet/salty flavor that you would expect, and tasted especially good when slightly over-charred on the grill.  The rib steak came unadorned in any seasoning as well as the raw seafood and mushrooms.

We also ordered (not on the bbq menu) a Saba or Mackerel which was cooked in the kitchen.  It was very fresh and except for several hidden pin-bones was a good example of how a fresh Mackerel should taste.  It's not for everybody though.  This high in Omega-3 fatty acids fish tastes..well...a bit fishy.

We were pleasantly surprised that the mushroom course had more than just white button caps.  Enokis, King Oysters, Oysters, and a few Creminis...the King Oyster mushrooms took the longest to cook and came off a bit tough.

Ordering was easy and using the doorbell buzzer to ask  for table service was quite pleasant.  Need more water? ding-dong. Need forks? ding-dong. More food? ding-dong.  DId your coals burn out and is it time to cook over the gas power only?  ding-dong.  I think you get the picture.

We finished the meal with one of their two desserts.  They offer ice cream and then something called Tempura Ice Cream.  Basically a round baseball size lump of aerated vanilla low-fat ice milk is somehow covered in chocolate cake, then dipped into tempura batter and deep fried.  Similar to the american-mexican restaurant favorite of deep fried ice cream, the tempura batter gives the cake and cream an almost  stale cone-like texture.  Two balls were cut into quarters and served the six of us quite well.   Not bad.

Some tips if you decide to go in a large group:

1. Make sure whoever is sitting in the middle of the table is willing to be the grillmaster.  This sounds like fun and it is, but when you are trying to eat, cook, and serve at the same time it can be less than pleasant.

2. Use the doorbell.  Waving your arms frantically and yelling "excuse me?" will not get you service.  The button is there for a reason.  Use it.

3. Watch your tongs.  Save one of the tongs for the raw meat.  I recommend using a separate pair of tongs for removing cooked meat.  Ask for an extra pair if this gets confusing.  Push the button and save yourself the gastrointestinal discomfort.

4. Remember that sometimes language can be a challenge and go with the flow.  The menu will list the "born less" beef or "born less" chicken etc...this actually is a reference to being bone-less, but is humorous nevertheless.  Laugh a little.

Overall the food was good, the service was decent (after the reservation mix-up), and it is a fun experience.  Our food bill came to about $140 for six very hungry people.

We went here for dinner tonight with my folks and my future in laws. I havent been here for about 5 years but it still looks about the same. Nice decor and friendly staff. We got the huge beef platter thats cooked at the table with a couple of soups. The food was delicious, the beef was very lean and fresh, soup was tasty and the waiter was pretty attentive. The only problem was the vent above the in-tablebbq wasnt working well and we were all sweatin bullets the whole freakin night, it felt like it was seriously 120 degrees, they aknowledged the vent had some problems but really did nothing to fix the problem. Oh well, all in all great food, and good atmosphere except for the heat.

I haven't had Korean BBQ in a long time so I was excited that I was going to Old Village for a friend's surprise birthday dinner.  We set a reservation for 14 people and the seating was prepared before we got there.  It was really busy but the servers made sure we had everything we needed.

Our group ordered various types of meat along with the Korean seafood pancake (haemul pajun), jabjae, kyaeran jjim and dwenjang guk.  I think we ordered some other food but I can't remember.  Anyway, the meat was tasty-we gobbled it up right away.  The pancake was very thick and plentiful.  The jabjae was very tasty-not too bland nor strong in taste.  $5 for kyaeran jjim is pricey...argh!

The servers were awesome-when they saw that we had a birthday boy at our table, they brought out a huge fried tempura ice cream ball with a candle on it haha - awesome!

Overall, prices were decent and the decor was nice-someone mentioned that they redecorated the place.

I went here for the first time with my friend and her family. I don't usually have high expectations whenever I go to a Korean restaurant. They're not trying to be a high end fancy place and sometimes service can suck. Plus some plces look run down and old. But this place surprised me since it was clean, looked modern, and pretty spacious for a Korean restaurant. We ordered Kal-bi which is mjy favorite and it was SO DELICIOUS and tender. I had to unbuckle my belt after we ate so that I could breathe. There was plenty of food and we had leftovers. I left very happy and full-I could barely walk and thought I'd have to roll myself out. Definately will come back here again!

This place was so much fun! I went with some friends from Hong Kong. I always let them pick the restaurant as they tend to pick incredible Chinese places but lately they've been on a Korean kick and are moderately obsessed with Old Village.

We had a ton of food to grill at the table - beef, pork, chicken, various vegetables. The grilling itself makes the meal less leisurely than the usual dining-out experience but all the more fun. The side dishes were delicious (especially the seaweed) and they refilled them as often as we wanted.

Me: What's the deal with all these sides?
Friend from Hong Kong: What do you mean?
Me: How are you supposed to eat them? Are they a garnish?
Friend from Hong Kong: How should I know? Just eat!
Me: But what's this one? (points at strange pink substance)
Friend from Hong Kong: I don't know! Eat!

We also sampled the "seafood korean pizza" which was sort of like a pancake full of octopus and shrimp. Sometimes you'd pick up a piece and notice a tentacle sticking out from the side, sort of waving at you...weird but delicious.

On the menu I noticed a garlic goat soup. I lived in West Africa for a time and absolutely love goat meat but nobody at the table was interested in splitting a pot with me. Next time!

This place is deliciousness! Ordered chap-chae (sp?), seafood rice, and some kind of soup.  The noodles were awesome and my friend was eyeing my seafood rice during the entire dinner, wishing she ordered what I ordered. ha ha!  Anyways, be careful to wait at least 10 mins before digging in, because if you don't you'll burn your mouth.  The little dishes with rice will definitely hold you over as you wait.

* Entire cost of the meal was around $40 without alcohol.

I will definitely be coming back again to try the bbq.  Can't wait for my clothes and hair to stink!

This is my favorite Korean place to go because of two reasons besides the good food.  One is it's so close to my house hand the other is because the service is good.  Have you ever been in a Korean place and feel like you get a cold shoulder?  I thought it was just me not being Korean but my friend's mother, who is Korean, said Koreans are that way to other Koreans.  I can say for a fact that I will not step foot into my wife's favorite Korean BBQ place because of the rudeness.

To start things off about the food, their kim chi is the bomb.  The galbi is awesome, save a few bucks and order without the bone in.  This past weekend I ordered without the bone and somebody else ordered with the bone in, couldn't tell the difference.  The bone would make a good treat for a smaller dog.  The bulgogi is great as well but a little small on the portion size in my opinion.  The fried fish dish is my 5 year old daughter's favorite, sorry I don't know the name of the dish.  I have to say I was a little disappointed the last time I was there because they were out of the beef tongue.  Oh well no hard feelings.

I would say if you're tired of getting that cold shoulder feeling then try this place out.  Don't be surprised if you have to wait for a seat if you get there during peak eating times.  Come here with some friends, choose a DD (designated driver), pound down some soju, grub on some good eats, and have a good time.  I want to know one thing, what is "born less" meat?  I know they meant boneless but it was funny when I read it.

When I first sat down I instantly had high hopes for a Korean restaurant that has a dessert menu but it all got shot down when the food arrived :( Just thinking about the fried oyster is making me sick, crispy on the outside but full of water on the inside eek! I know it was called seafood pizza but damn is it suppose to be that doughy and they were also greedy on the ingredients which made it even worse.I had mix thoughts on the mackerel,it wasn't good or bad so I guess it was ok.Fried dumpling is just same as anywhere else nothing special .Now on to the main dish the seafood hot pot.The sauce itself was not that bad maybe a little bit more flavor would be nice but good overall. The seafood in the hot pot was pretty good. This is what ruined the hot pot for me.................................The Noddles!!These noddles just don't go with this type of sauce.Yuck! I almost forgot to talk about the service oh wait their wasn't any!!Needed more water no refill checked on us at all NO would like to have some boxes and the check Nobody around! I do know that theirs a buzzer which I pushed two times and nothing happened and nobody came.
I am never coming back here when theirs Hae Nam bqq restaurant one of the best korean restaurant across the street!

In some of the other reviews I see a complaint about service?

This was not my experience...at all... in any way... whatsoever!

Cici and I were greeted, and served by the loveliest of hosts, and treated like new friends, (they wouldn't loan us money or let me borrow their cars.)
Other then that, I had the nicest restaurant experience possible!

Comfortable surroundings inside, practically invisible from outside... this little North Seattle secret is worth seeking out!

Freshly grilled meats (your table has a grill built into it), condiments so good they're almost appetizers, and my newest discovery Soju! It's like Saki without the aftertaste! Spectacular! Just spectacular!

I can not recommend Old Village to you more! Just be careful not to over order! It's two days later, and I'm still full! But Cici popped in the car and it took all night to clean her off the windows and upholstery! Don't say I didn't warn you!

Dear god, I am full! If I could've kept shoving it in, I would have. It was perfect.

I was in Korea last year and took a strong liking to BBQ, but didn't know of any places in Seattle. Well, I happened to be hanging with Mr. Scott K. this evening, who came up with this place. He's a smart man with lovely ideas. (Ladies take note.) This place could not have been better. Service, food, atmosphere were all spot on.

We ordered the ribeye and marinated pork, some tempura veggies, a couple of beers and some soju. (Soju is like a sake, but it will sneak up on you. Careful.) The waitress brought out a taste of the soy paste soup too. Excellent.

some tips...
Do the BBQ, meaning sit at the tables with bbq.
No apps, it's too much.
Try all the small dishes. Kim chi is made in house.
Drink the soju and take a cab.
Good for a group, but make a reservation.

I've found the portion size here to be beyond plenty--not quite huge, but very generous.  The table BBQs are fun, but not a great idea if you're sitting with children unless you have plenty of extra adults on hands to grill and watch the kids.

I love Korean food, including (especially?) the many little sides that come with meals.  Old Village makes their kimchee in-house and it's perfect.  The cold mashed potatoes with sugar and vinegar are a perfect example of adapting local ingredients to fit your menu.  Pickled daikon, little fishes, red pepper yummy things...all very good.

A quick ode to Bi Bim Bop: crunchy rice, cool veggies, red pepper paste, and an over easy egg add up to WAY beyond a sum of its parts.  Sooo good.

I went here last Friday night with a big posse and it was so fun (plus the food was amazing)! The table was long and had two coal fueled grills. They replaced the grill after each round of cooking, so I got the impression they were a really clean restaurant.

We ate a ton of rib meat...and despite getting stuffed I couldn't stop eating! Even though I over ate it was a good full and I was content as a clam.

Although I went with my friend who is Korean and did all the ordering for our group, they do have English writing on the menu too so I I'd say this restaurant is friendly for non-Korean speaking folks too.

Have you been to this place lately?!?  They remodeled and the space is awesome!  Much cleaner, more inviting, friendly servers and revamped menu.  New competition has risen for Mirinae on Aurora.

I forgot that this place has coal BBQ.  That is as traditional and classic as it can get with Korean BBQ.  Sweet, salty, delicious rib meat cooked over coal BBQ?  Makes you forget about global warming in one bite. Unlike a lot of Korean BBQ places, they had Veg. BBQ Option.  You don't even know how stoked my veg. friend was to see the Mushrooms and veggie BBQ on the menu.  Plus, it came with about 5-6 different kind of mushrooms marinated in Korean BBQ sauce.  YUM~

Their soups are pretty traditional, meaning, more thick and stew-like which I love.  Reminds of me Grand mama's cooking. Their Ban Chans (Side dishes) were decent.  I would say Mirinae is better at this.

Their Nang Myuen (Cold Noodle Soup) is the best in the Northwest.  I have had it many times.  It is not the best I have had but there aren't too many Korean places that can do Nang Myuen well.

Overall, it was an great experience.  Ate so much I rolled out of there.  I would suggest this place to anyone.  With American food, you just don't get to experience of interactive eating.  Korean BBQ is a totally different but fun experience because it is interactive.  You cook your own meat to however you like it.  The food is phenomenal but the whole act of sitting together with friends and cooking meat over fire is always a very memorable experience.    Enjoy and share good times over food?  What a noble idea!!!

What a turn-around Old Village has made!  I was blown away on a recent visit.  Under new management and ownership, I was highly impressed by the level of service provided (esp. for a Korean restaurant) and the quality of the food!  They efficiently accommodated our group of 10 hardcore Koreans.  Everything ordered was excellent:  kalbi, pork bulgogi, naeng-myun, daenjang chigae (soybean paste stew), and ooguhji tang.  Even my mom liked it and she's one picky betch!

This place really gives Kawon a running for my favorite restaurant in the Seattle area now.  And it's way closer too.  Yay!

This was my first time coming here after they changed ownership, and I gotta admit, the food here has gotten a lot better.....but pricier. Even though they do have lunch specials, the food is still pretty expensive. I had the extra spicy soondubu with kimchee and pork and it was really flavorful. I can't imagine eating bbq here because a lot of the meat items on the menu were around $30! I do appreciate the nice decor and presentation of the food. In terms of service, we did have to get the lady's attention a few times though but it was no big deal. I'll come back here again just for the food itself....but only for lunch because I'm too poor.

Went out with a friend.  We ordered the Special Dinner for Two.  So much food!  easily enough for three people.  Everything was great!  The restaurant was really busy, but the food came out quickly.  I would say the worst part of the evening was that the music was a bit too loud.
Very reasonable price for the enormous amount of food and sides.   Crispy fish, tender meat, tasty Kim Chi.  The egg dish thingy was not my favorite, but if you drench it in Soy sauce and sides, mmmm very yummy! Either I'm stupid or the soy sauce dispensers are pretty but worthless.  I ended up with soy everywhere.  My hands, my clothes, the table.  Like the old joke with the salt shaker lid...  You are warned.

I've been here a few times and this is one of the best Korean barbecues I've been to (and I've been to many). Unlike most Korean barbecues, their tabletop grills use charcoal and I feel this adds for a better flavor and overall grilling experience. They have a very extensive menu and have many items besides grilling items. If you don't feel like cooking your own meal at the table you can get a "regular" table and have them cook it in the back. Some of the meats are fairly pricey but I can assure you that you will not leave hungry!! I went there with my roommate once and we bought their special, which is meant for two people, and we were both completely stuffed! I would highly recommend it if you want a variety of food and are extra hungry.

i don't know of a better korean bbq place in town - i mean, one that is clean, well decorated (especially for a korean restaurant) and with decent service.  if you're not getting attention from your wait staff and seated at a booth look for that button on the wall (it's a bell looking thingy) and press it and they'll come to you IMMEDIATELY :)

we took our good friends and their teenage kids here one night.  they've NEVER had korean food before and they really loved it - even the cabbage kimchi which is usually an acquired taste!!  so if you're not familiar with korean food/bbq, this is a good place to start.  the menus are in english and if you go in a bigger group, you can try more dishes.  servings aren't small, so beware if it's just two or three of you guys.  your wait staff will not tell you to stop ordering LOL!

this is a good place for traditional charcoal korean bbq (yum) - that's pretty self explanatory i think - just order the kind of cut of meat you like. i really like the tongue too but it might not be for first timers if you're not into 'weird' cuts. i also really do like their yummy pancake (called korean pizza on their menu under appetizers) and chupchae (korean mung bean noodles with ground beef.  i haven't had their hot pot but the husband was tempted with the dumpling and kimchi one so i'm sure we'll be back soon :)

it's not expensive... we ordered three orders of meat, the pancake, a bibimbap (not great) and a chupchae for six and it was $120 (not including tips).

If you crave for fine grilled Korean meat, and don't want to drive all the way to Canada for triple A grade beef... Old Village Korean Restaurant is definitely your destination.

I've been here quite a few times since my sister's boyfriend absolutely loves this place. I could get nip-picky and talk about their service, but for the most parts, their staff is okay. Since if you're doing the grill BBQ, most of the time they give you want you need, and you do it yourself. Don't expect a full on service.

Their meats are well seasoned, and their lamb stews are absolutely tasty. We usually get the sauteed rice cakes too.   This place is somewhat pricy, so don't expect to walk out with a cheap bill!    It is a good place to impress your friends however!

In Seattle and north of Seattle, I believe this place has the best Korean food.  Service is slow but then again, I am used to NYC service.

Overall, I highly recommend it if you are craving for Korean food.

Let me start out by saying that my husband and I have been to many a korean bbq joint including those in LA/Orange County/Korea and were very disappointed in the poor selection of bbq joints in this area for a long time.  I had previously ate at this restaurant and thought it was horrible and so when my sister first asked to go here for dinner, I thought she was joking.   To my surprise, the food was vastly superior to my recollection.  The bbq is cooked on real charcoal (really hard to find these days) and it is on par with places in LA.

Dishes I would recommend would be the marinated and non marinated premium galbi, chopchae, and the dang-jang-jigae (soup comes with bbq dishes).  Only problem with this place that they are vastly understaffed and the service is slow even by Korean restaurant standards.

I think this place has a different name now but I've been going to this place for years now.  I love Korean food but too bad, I don't see many of them around. I wish if I could get more Korean food like Teriyaki here in Seattle.

I like their BBQ (Kalbi, RIbs, pork, and chicken), Spicy soup, and bibim bap. They usually have good service. I like to eat some yummy Korean food and watch Korean soap opera on their TV.
