I can't believe I'm about to say this but here it goes: Old Tucson Studio is awesome!
Wow that felt good. So my BF recently had to move to Tuscon where he will be residing for a year. As you can see by the all my recent Tucson reviews, I've been a good GF and visiting him. I wasn't terribly thrilled about all this until I heard the master piece, The Three Amigos, was filmed in Old Tucson. I had to check it out.
If you've ever flown to Tucson you've probably noticed that you're the only one on the plane; no one is flying into Tuscon, they are all leaving to go someplace where its not 104 degrees and monsooning. And apparently the same is true for Old Tucson. We went on Memorial Day weekend and the place was like a ghost town. We asked one of the gift shop cashiers if it was always like this and apparently this was a good day - poor Old Tucson.
Anywho, back to the review. Here is why this place was so much fun:
It's a real working studio, in addition Three Amigos, there have many famous movies filmed there...and commercials. Pay attention to the Chinchilla Day commercial for http://vegas.com.
I guess ppl were smaller in the good ole days bc the whole town was built to scale and you can take some really fun "I'm a giant" photos.
Premium beer is only $4
Nothing is nailed down, this aint Disneyland, crawl on it, pick it up, stand on it, pose with it. Super fun
Gun fight shows all day long, the acting and stunts are spectacular.
The Haunted Mine tour, wow, this was so good, esp the old guy running it.
The little train runs round and round the park all day long at no charge.
There are horses galore and they let you pet them, or ride them, for a fee.
Theres  a photo studio where you dress in clothes worn by god knows how many ppl and take black and white pictures!
Hug the last remaining piece of El Guapo's tower.
I'm just saying, I'm a fan, good clean $4 beer fun!

And yes, I really had to post that many pics!

For a town that has very little to do, this provides a good day of kicking around. Sure, the reviews that call it cheesy are accurate by civilized standards. You gotta' drop your judgements. This ain't Knott's & it ain't Universal Studios. Good photo ops, decent barbeque, buy the kids a cap gun & a trip around the park in the stagecoach and relax. You're probably not going to be fighting off any crowds and if you have small children they will like the carousel, old fashioned "autopia" cars & haunted cavern. You'll probably see boy scout troops and European tourists that are in town for the hiking or biking. Just don't expect too terribly much, it's Tucson!!

This place is cheesy so if you take it for what it is and enjoy it. Congrats to the actors that can do the shows in this summer heat and the comedy was above average for these type of things.
Recommend the haunted mine and sitting in jail. Overall though it us too expensive for what it is especially compared to other local attractions.

The other review seems a little harsh. This site is an old movie set, millions of people go to Universal Studios to see movie sets.

This set has been the setting for a huge number movies and TV shows, mainly westerns. John Wayne filmed  'Rio Bravo", "McCintock!, "El Dorado" and "Rio Lobo" and Ronald Reagan filmed here. So did Will Smith with "Wild Wild West" and "The Three Amigos" with Chevy Chase, Steve Martin and Martin Short. Michael Landon filmed parts of "Little House on the Prairie" and "Highway to Heaven."

In fact I went to IMDB and here is the link http://www.imdb.com/Li...

I like many of the movies that were filmed at Old Tucson Studios, so it was neat to walk down the street where they were films, to go inside the buildings and see the props.

They also have "shows" including a shoot-out and of course Miss Kitty's showgirls were enjoyable. We also ate there and the portions were large, prices were affordable and very delicious.

Oh... it's so sad it's no wonder this place was burned down. But why, why god, did they rebuild it? A complete waste of money. Not even your visiting mid-western parents should be subject to this hot, boring, dull, attraction. I pity the people who work here. How sad is it when you're acting career consists of a stint at Old Tucson Studios? Oh who am I kidding? Even the acting here is so terrible that it's not worth pitying the actors. They know how bad they are, they know what they've done!!
