I just recently stayed at the Old Santa Fe Inn, and enjoyed every moment of it! It's value far exceeds the room price. Our room felt like a home away from home, and was so dark (no annoying piercing light at the crack of dawn!), and so quiet, and in a perfect location for walking around in town. Erica at the front desk literally jumped to her feet every time we came through the lobby, and cheerfully helped us on several occasions. Plus, who doesn't love breakfast burritos and afternoon cookies?!
It's only missing the fifth star because in order to be perfect I believe a pool is in order!

If you're coming to Santa Fe and:
1) Want to be right downtown, near the Plaza
2) Are budget-conscious
and
3) Appreciate traditional New Mexican design
then the Old Santa Fe Inn is a great option.
This motel is just a few blocks from the Plaza, but it was completely redone just a few years ago and offers great amenities with authentic New Mexican interior design for very reasonable prices. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, although with the parking lot right outside the rooms, you might want a second-floor room or one that's away from the front of the complex.
