If you are in the mood for real PR dishes (Pasteles, Pinon, Pernil, Arroz con Gandules, Mofongo, etc...) at a GREAT price then you have to try this amazing mom & pop restaurant. They offer friendly service, great tasting food and a homey atmosphere. My boyfriend is PR and loooovvves to EAT, whereas I can eat a bowl of cereal and be satisfied. But after trying their food I find myself eager to go back. I highly recommend you try this Restaurant! They will win you over.
Sat & Sun from 12-8 they offer a $22 all you can eat buffet (including wine/beer, dessert and coffee)
Try the Bien me sabe Guava flavor its AMAZING!!!!
Being a foodie with a Puerto Rican brother-in-law, it was only a matter of time until I had my first foray into PR cuisine.
Walking in, this place has mom-and-pop charm, down to the PR gift shop in the corner.
I dove head first into the cuisine, sampling Pasteles, Pinon, Mofongo, Pernil, and others. It was all delicious. Now, here's where my brother-in-law might smack me, but it was wasn't "outstanding". Have you ever left a restaurant and said, "You know, I just wish everything was a little bit tastier."? I just felt like each item could have had a little more spice, or a little more garlic, etc.
Would I go back to savor PR cuisine? Maybe, but I'd would inquire where else the group wanted to go first.
Walked in and it was a bit musky. There was one other couple so it was pretty slow. I started to get worried that it was gonna be a bad night. Then they gave us menus and I said to myself wow they are proud of the food. The pricing was not cheap. Now I had a confused worried. Well we ordered and the food was GREAT! Everything was very fresh and it was authentic PR cooking. They do need to get some more colorful decor. But I went for the food not the art so thumbs up here.
Have you ever looked for a Puerto Rican Restaurant in Miami?
I have. Well lets just say I used too!
I found this wonderful little family owned place years ago and couldn't believe my luck when I moved to the neighborhood around the corner!
Located in between Coral Gables and West Miami on 57th Ave. This place has every delicious item you could want from the island of PR.
As well as Pasteles for lunch or dinner every day! (this is not common).
They have a lunch buffet for the working crowd as well as a dinner buffet. I have seen many a family take advantage of the dinner buffet, which usually has all the staples, arroz con gandules, pernil, pasteles, and much more.
Its decor is lovely and inviting, making you feel like you walked into your grandmothers living room (without the statues). The restaurant may seat about 80 and also has a small area where they sell island souvenirs.
A must visit for any Puerto Rican who misses abuelas cooking OR if you are like me and can't cook, they also cater your parties with only 24 hours advance notice!
So, yes, I'll lie to my friends and say that I made it all!!!
