We were looking for a breakfast place with good cheap food that would seat 12 people in under a half hour.  This place delivered.

Any place that will make you a skillet of potatoes covered in cheese is a winner in my book.  The french toast was good, not too eggy, and the coffee was bottomless.  And when asked, they will whip out the whipped cream and smother your waffle in it at no extra charge.

The view of the lake alone makes it worth eating here, though the view is better when you sit on the covered patio.

And best of all, there was this cute doggy sitting in this truck outside with the biggest head ever.  Way to go Joxer!

Can't say enough good things about this coffee shop!  Everyone I've ever taken to breakfast falls in love with their food.  It seems like the owners must care about the quality of the ingredients.  Everything tastes good, especially their pancakes, and you won't ever leave hungry.  It's an old-time feel, especially because it feels like the counter is for "locals".  My daughter and I don't care though, we love eating at the counter!  We love diner atmosphere.  Sitting in the window area is nice too.  The waitresses seem like they've been there a long, long time.

Great place for breakfast...been here a million times and totally love the place!!

Has great service, good food, and is in an absolutely stunning location.  Easy to find and parking isn't crazy.  Gotta love this place and what Tahoe has to offer.

What more can you ask for from a greasy-spoon? I have visited this place at least 20 times over the past few years and have never been disappointed. The only reason I give 4 instead of 5 stars is that occasionally the service is a little rough. Remember though...most of the people here have more than one job. One time...we spent the day sending kids through ski school only to come in the next morning for breakfast and be served by the instructor!

Kid friendly!

I wish I would have caught this place at breakfast as people seemed pretty happy with it but I was feeling like lunch. Ordered a salad and quesadilla which was smothered in salsa from a jar and sour cream. It was greasy and ok for what it was but I kinda wished I got something more "diner"
The service was good but like someone else said the counter in front was very locals only. Just quickly make your way towards the back of the place and its all good.

Pretty scrumptious breakfast in a no-nonsense atmosphere.  The front counter had that vaguely intimidating, "Hey newbie, don't sit here" ambiance but we were ushered to a very favorable table in the glassed in porch overlooking the main drag and the lake.  I loved my waffle.  The eggs can be inconsistent--their idear of Over Medium and mine are considerably different.  The pancakes are nearly as good as those at Lucky Chances in Colma.  You better get there early on weekends because the line of locals and hungry weekenders starts thickening up about 10:30.

Best place in north Tahoe area for breakfast. I've never had anything here other than breakfast, so I can't comment on lunch. Can be a bit of a wait on weekends, and in the summer they do open their "patio" for seating.

Completely agree with Scot B - consistently good food but occasionally slow service.  Love the waffles...mmmm...waffles.  Usually a little bit of a wait but nothing terrible.

Great breakfast joint. I love their pancakes. Be sure to check out their white board for specials like crabcake benedict or cajun scramble that are not listed on the menu. This is one place I always try to stop and eat at when I visit Tahoe. No frills, just good food.

yes, the service is spotty but the food is excellent and one of the only breakfast places around. the pancakes are truly homemade and they have real syrup, not the flavored corn syrup most places stock. Everyone left satisfied and ready for a day on the lake.

My wife and I like to visit Tahoe for skiing, but we actually enjoy breakfast at the Old Post Office as much as the skiing!  This is a great place that should not be missed.
