At Old Hickory you get plenty of food, plenty of drink, great atmosphere, and attentive service. All the food is superb, and cooked just how you would expect it - top notch. After all, you're paying out the ass for it, you may as well get plenty of whatever you ordered. My lamb was excellent, as were the crabcakes and steaks ordered by the rest of the table. Sides come a la cart, the bread was fresh, the drinks are stiff. They have a VERY nice selection of wines, and even a cheese cart after dinner (but you won't have room, especially if you order dessert). The only place better in the area would be III Forks or maybe Nick and Sam's.

As far as Texan steakhouses go, this is EXACTLY what an out of towner would expect. From the over-sized, cowhide leather furniture that seemed to SWAMP me to the extravagant wooden paneled walls reminding me of some ranch featured on the nighttime soap opera, DALLAS. I shook the 80's cobwebs from my head as I scratched my head to try to remember exactly who did shoot J.R.
The excess of food, wine and service just had me reeling. Plate after plate inundated our dining party of six: There was the beef tenderloin carpaccio, the jumbo lump crabcake, the lobster bisque soup (not my choice) and the organic greens salad (delicious). Individually, I chose the 8oz filet mignon served medium rare. Of course, by the time we got to the main entree, I was already drunk on great wine (Shafer 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon) and stuffed full of great food. Then, there was the chocolate marquise dessert (must try).
Oh my gosh, at the end of the evening, I instructed my companion to just roll me out of the restaurant or hire a forklift. Really, I was too full to move.
