Old Florida Cafe
1 review for Old Florida Cafe
There are two sandwich shops in downtown Micanopy, both are just a few steps from each other. Old Florida Cafe was a little busier and had more nick knacks for sale, so my companion and I opted to have lunch there. The menu was predominantly sandwich fare. The had black beans and rice, so we ordered that and split it, plus a Reuben sandwich a piece. The Reubens were pretty hearty. They weren't as grilled as I prefer, but they were generous with the meat. The black beans and rice were good and they gave us raw onion, sour cream and salsa to put on top. I've never had it this way. It was good. The tables were strewn about the inside and outside. We chose to sit outside. All the outdoor seating was in the shade on a deck surrounded with plants. The plants were for sale. We entertained ourselves with the tiniest kitten who was waiting for scraps. The lady next to us kept handing me pieces of roast beef from her sandwich to give to the kitten. Overall, I had a nice time here. The food wasn't anything special, but still seemed to have better offerings than the other sandwich shop in Micanopy. They have desserts and ice cream, though the cakes and pies were still in the plastic containers from the store.
