    Hiyah!

Hawaiian BBQ with a Korean ninja kick to your taste buds!

BBQ Chicken - Cooked perfectly. All you pro grill masters know that chickens not the easiest thing cook to perfection but Ohana did my appetite right.

Kalbi - Mmmm mmmm mmmmm.....even if a piece dropped to the floor, I'd eat it. It's like crack. *scratching neck while eye is twitching*

Potato Salad and rice complimented the meal so well.

You can't come here expecting an authentic hawaiian meal. Just come here expecting good bbq eats just like how mama makes at home.

Ohana, I will miss u until our next date.

    ps i love u.

I LOVE chicken katsu, and this is the best katsu in the area. The chicken is moist, and they give a large serving, which I love. I always get my plate with double macaroni salad. The family that owns the joint is always super friendly. I do recommend calling in advance to place your order if you're gonna get it to go. And parking might be kinda tough, but they do have a couple of reserved spots in the lot. But what I usually do is park at a meter on the street, but you gotta be going west-bound on Ventura. Oh, and sometimes I'll order a kids' chicken plate for my son. I think it's called a Keikei plate or something. But the portion is enough for a grown adult. Just a heads up.

Moved from Hawaii and wanted something with rice. After a short walk we found Ohana BBQ. I had the pork katsu and it was amazing! I loved the appearance of both my food and my friends. The katsu was delicious especially with their homemade hot sauce! Kinda pricey for what I'd pay in Hawaii(that's unusual to say considering Hawaii is more expensive) big overall really good! :)

I am obsessed with this place, I eat here at least a couple times a week.  I work out at the Ballys which is in the same parking lot and when I come out and smell the BBQ i just can't resist!  I love the BBQ chicken plate and the supah salad, the dressing is delicious.  If you want some good quick BBQ, try this place!

Really surprised at all the decent reviews. It's overpriced and the service is passable.

I got the ramen. It is unlike any ramen I can think of. The broth is bland. And the vegetables, while fresh, are stingy. It's similar to L&L but somehow feels less authentic. I figured for a place that exists in a shopping complex, it would be priced as a fast food joint. Which is how it's run, but priced as a sit down place, which it's not.

Someone mentioned this is a hybrid place. Korean and Hawaiian. That should've been my first red flag. I never liked these types of places because they aren't going to get either cuisine right.

As for the service, I read one reviewer who got the rude treatment. He thanked the operators and got no answer in return. I asked for my ramen to go (as I was running late)...the noodles were overcooked which is why I wanted it separated. So I needed a separate container. I asked for something smaller as to not waste the large soup containers these things come in...the owner bluntly told me he had nothing smaller and went on to other things. The place was empty, so I got the sense that asking for another container may as well been mugging him at gunpoint.

    I'd like to...but I just can't recommend this place.

I've been here twice, and the portions are huge. I always get the classic Hawaiian bbq chicken (they offer dark / white meat). Their macaroni salad is just okay... I just really like their chicken and how it's cut up into huge slices. They also grill their chicken nicely-- it's NEVER dry. I'm tempted to try their Bi Bim Bap next time... I suggest calling in and placing your order so you won't have to wait!

I've been going there since I moved to Studio City 3 years ago.
Good place for quick lunch or to go order.

Beef Short Rib (Kalbi) comes with rice and bean sprout. I usually get double bean sprout instead of little salad. Kalbi is good!

Cold Noodle salad comes with cucumbers and good dressing. I usually get it with Dark Meat Chicken. I don't recommend their white meat. It's too dry.

Salmon Plate is good, too if you are in the mood for heathier food.

Good portion, fast service and tasty food.
Recommend to get a side of hot sauce :)

What it tries to be: Hawaiian plate lunch with a Japanese twist.

What it is: Hawaiian plate lunch, with teriyaki.

Value: Good, not great. It really is all about quality, not quantity here. The white meat teriyaki chiken was good as was my short ribs, there just wasn't much of either for the $15.60 I paid.

    Environment: Clean strip mall.

Would i go again: No, I've been spoiled by Gushi in Westwood so if I need a bbq fix I'd rather make it myself or wait til I go see my girl at UCLA.

Better than/Worse than: Better than LnL for quality, but doesn't make up for the higher price for quantity than either LnL or Gushi.

    Notes: They have shaved ice.

    Realllllllllllllly tasty.

Look, for $10 or less, you can get a pretty authentic meal w/o the airline ticket cost. We ordered the beef short ribs, and seriously, the sauce was insane. And not "too much." Just the perfect balance of sweet and salty. The ribs weren't super meaty or fatty,  they were easy to chew and just all around, the perfect cut. And the meal wasn't super messy should you eat them like a caveman (ooga-booga, ribbbbbs). Not that it matters cuz this place is no frills: you order and seat yourself. You may have to wait a while for your meal- but heck - it's worth it.

    Ohana is the bomba.

I have been coming to Ohana for over about 2 years now. More frequent in the last year. I use to go for Hawaiian BBQ in Burbank, but I gave up on
    that particular place.

I have not had all the dishes at Ohana but I can say:

Try the beef short rib combo! It satisfies my carnivorous cravings. When you look at the price and say wow 12.95. Its way worth it. The meat is superior quality, Super tender, and the macaroni salad is good.

I realized I have not written a review for one of my favorite spots.

Try it out you will not regret it.

I lived in Hawaii for 6 years, and really miss good "mix plate" food. Ohana was my great find!

Their kalbi is outstanding. LOVE THIS. I get a double order which my husband and I share...and even though we gorge ourselves, it's plenty. I get double mac-salad (not the best I've ever had, but good). They will give you kimchi if you ask (they just don't want to waste it), and to me it's good (I'm not Korean and I'm scared of really spicy things but I like it). They even have Hawaiian Sun drinks which is a nice change-up.

To be honest, I don't think I've ever gotten anything else. I can't tear myself away from the kalbi. And it's not a great place to sit and eat, but I'm all for calling the order in ("10 minute later pick up!") and bringing it back home. YUM.

I've ordered carryout from Ohana 7 or 8 times now, and it is consistently delicious. The short ribs are great, but I usually order the beef teriyaki. This is Hawaiian/Korean comfort food at a great value! Be sure to get the Hawaiian Style Macaroni salad on the side.

This is a family run restaurant that serves up very tasty and fresh food at reasonable prices. I don't know how authentic Hawaiian it us but the place is always good. I have been going here for years and have never been disappointed.   The Korean couple that run it are also super nice and friendly. Some of my favorite dishes are:

    Salmon
    Supah Salad
    Ramen
    Bim Bim Bop
    And the short ribs

Btw, they will substitute for brown rice and will pretty much modify your plate to however you want. Pretty good dinner for under $15.

There aren't too many Hawaiian places to choose from in this area...maybe none except for Ohana, so we feel lucky to have this place nearby.

The food is more Korean influenced than traditional Hawaiian, but we're fine with it.

We've only had the teriyaki beef and spicy pork plates so far and look forward to trying the other dishes.

The parking lot is packed, but hopefully you'll find 1 of the 2 designated spots open for Ohana right in front of the restaurant.

    Enjoy!

With all the KBBQ I have had lately, one would think I'm turning Korean.
    *checks mirror*
    Nope. Doesn't look like it.

Anywho...  my friend who I recently introduced KBBQ to calls me and wants to go to dinner. Guess what he wanted to eat?  Yep.  KBBQ.

I know how someone finds something new and wants to have it again so I said if you can find KBBQ in Studio City then fine (cuz there ain't none!!!).  If not, I pick.  DAMMIT!!!  He went on Yelp and found this.  He isn't even on Yelp.  Damn Yelp. *hits the side of the computer*  Once I found out this place was actually Hawaiian Korean BBQ and I hadn't had that before, I calmed down.

So we go.  The place was small, but nice and clean. And although they were many new things for me to try, I went with the Kalbi (short ribs...$11) and we shared some potstickers.  The potstickers ($5) were very good and I liked the sweet sauce that came with it.  The Kalbi was really good.  Very lean!  All the entrees come with rice, a small salad, and either a beansprouts salad or macaroni salad.  I went with the macaroni salad, which was different from the traditional one.  It had potato in it and was reeeeeeeeeeally tasty.  The side salad was thinly sliced cabbage with a light vinegar dressing.  It was good.

I like this place.  Definitely a great place to get KBBQ fast and yet tasty!

But no more KBBQ for awhile people, no matter who you are!!!

The quality is not up to par. I had the Chicken Katsu. They must've pounded the chicken too thin that day because it was hard/dry enough to cut your gums when you bit into it. They had decent rice so I had to give them that. Katsu sauce was good enough.

Also on walking out, we found couple rats darting around the plants outside. Caveat emptor.

Ohana is one legit Hawaiian/Korean BBQ joint. They are located in a small shopping center off of Ventura Blvd in Studio City. Unfortunately the parking situation can be difficult since it shares the lot with a ton of other places including a Bally's Fitness. They do have two spots reserved for Ohana right in front of the place but you may end up fighting over the spots.

By the looks of the inside one would assume you couldn't get good homemade BBQ Hawaiian and Korean eats here as the inside is small, plain, and not really decorated at all. But as my high school English teacher always said, "When you assume, you make an "ass" out of "u" and "me". Don't let the bland decorating fool you. The food is good.

Everything is made to order to insure the fresh deliciousness. I ordered the Waikiki Special (a combination of any two BBQ items they have). I got the BBQ Chicken (white meat), and the BBQ pork. Each meal comes with a small salad and your choice of bean sprout salad or macaroni salad. If you like potato and macaroni salad, GET THE MACARONI SALAD! Ohana's macaroni salad... let me explain it like this. If potato salad and macaroni salad made sweet love and had a baby it would be Ohana's macaroni salad. It's like a combination of macaroni AND potato salad. Loved it!

Now for the "que". The chicken and pork was cooked to perfection. They cook all of it on a flat grill and cut the meat into thin slices. Tender, sweet, and a little Hawaiian spice kick. They also have two bottles of sauce on the table to add: a Teriyaki and a "sweet" sauce. The sweet sauce is more spice than nice but tasty all the same. And did I mention the portions were HUGE. I had enough for a two solid meals.

If you are in the mood for an affordable, quick, and lazy man's KBBQ come to Ohana.

Da Kine! (hawaiian for: the best)

i love the Korean influence on Hawaiian cuisine. i also love that there's a Korean family running this Hawaiian joint. even better! so let me break this down to what i've tried in the past and stolen from my friends' plates:

    OUTSTANDING ____________________________________
    - Bibimbap: your choice of brown or white rice topped with barbecued pork, chicken, beef, or tofu and an array of veggies--is stirred with gochu-jang (hot chili paste).
    - Wiki Wiki noodles aka Jap Chae:  comes loaded with meat and vegetables.
    - Kalbi aka short ribs : the spicy pork ribs are juicy and beef ones are delicious as well.
    - Ohana "Supa" Salad: bbq chicken served over romaine lettuce, green & red cabbage, almonds, and deep fried noodles tossed with sesame dressing.
    - Chicken Katsu: marinated in lemon juice... this panko-crusted fillet was off the hook!

OTHER MISC ITEMS I LIKED __________________________
bean sprout salad, macaroni salad and kids menu (that's freakin' awesome if you think about all your friends w/ kids in tow).

WHAT I WAS UPSET ABOUT ___________________________

Wow, this place is seriously good.  I'm surprised because it just seems like a hole in the wall semi fast food joint.  And it actually kind of is that.  But the food is amazing.

I got the BBQ chicken plate.  The chicken was really lean and yummy.  No fat on it.  The white rice was fluffy and perfect.  The salad was really refreshing, especially with the dressing on it.  It's a light vinegar tasting dressing and was a perfect complimentary taste to the meat and rice.  And you also get a choice of macaroni salad or bean sprout salad.  I got the mac because I was craving it, but apparently from the other reviews, the bean sprouts are something to try.

Anyways, it was 10 bucks total.  I could only eat about 1/3 of it before i was stuffed.  It was really good.  I highly recommend it.

Oh ya, good luck with parking.  That kinda sucks.

I think Ohana BBQ is pretty pricy, with most items coming in at around 8.95... it's a bit past what I like to spend on lunch on a weekday.

The quality is good though, so after I started eating, I kind of calmed down about the price... but still!

What I'd prefer (and I think that many customers would most likely agree) is that they make the portions just a bit smaller, and lower the price down to 5.95 or even 6.95. See, even 6.95 is a bit much to spend on a normal weekday lunch in my opinion... but it's something most people can handle.

But MAN! If they made those portions just a tad smaller and brought the lunch price down to 5.95, they'd have lines out the door constantly!

I'm pretty sure Gordon Ramsey would agree. Oh yeah, the place is super tiny, and parking is super difficult, but at least it's clean.

I have tried almost every restaurant in the area for lunch, and my co-workers and I all agree that this place is top 3.  I recommend getting the BBQ Chicken dish, be sure to request white meat.  The owners are very passionate about the quality of service and food, and this is very noticeable.  You might also see a celebrity here and there...we say Ray Romano once.

Parking is free, but sometimes annoying to find a spot in the poorly designed parking lot.

This place is tucked in a plaza near Bally's, parking is free and there are 2 spots reserved for Ohana customers. It's a "fast food joint" but we ate there and they had actual dinnerware although utensils were disposables.

My wiki wiki noodles with chicken was excellent, very tasty chicken. I had to take some home though as the portion was quite large, pretty good considering it was about 9 bucks an order. We also ordered the #2 and that wasn't so good, the beef didn't taste quite like beef...

We'd probably be back again, I mean, there aren't too many Korean/Hawaiian places in Studio City!  I'd love to try the Ramen next time.

Aloha and mahalo.  First time here was a winner.  I had the Korean short ribs with bean spout salad and salad.  You also have the option of rice and/or macaroni salad.  The portions are very generous and I left quite satisfied.

Yes, K-town is not that far away, but when you need a quick Korean BBQ fix this place will do.  Service is very friendly and they don't throw the meat on the grill till you've ordered it.  Cash or credit, no problem.  Sadly, if you want kimchi it's an additional charge.

"Ohana means family," - Lilo & Stitch. OK, now that that's out of the way...

This is, by far, one of my favorite restaurants -- IN THE WORLD!!! Literally. I could eat here everyday.

Besides being probably the cleanest restaurant I've ever seen, this unassuming, strip mall, hole in the wall restaurant, is home to the BEST Korean BBQ food in Los Angeles. It's like my favorite Korean BBQ restaurant in Hawaii followed me to California.

I get the "Beef Short Ribs", with the steamed white rice, mini salad, and your choice of bean sprout salad or Hawaiian style macaroni salad. The short ribs, which in any other Korean restaurant would be called Kalbi, are thinly sliced beef short ribs, marinated for like ever, and then grilled, making for an interesting combination of sweet yet salty. The short ribs at Ohana are very, VERY good. And plentiful. Most other Korean restaurants would give you 1/2 of what Ohana gives you.

They have other things on the menu, but after going there countless times, I can't seem to get myself to order anything else. And I probably never will.

I'm not sure what the best Hawaiian BBQ place in L.A. is, but I'm pretty sure this is the worst.

First of all, the menu is extremely limited. There are only about a dozen options and they don't have a lot of the standards you'd find at other places, like loco moco, spam musubi or saimin. It's actually a Korean-owned hybrid, so they offer both Hawaiian plate lunch items and Korean food. (There's a similar place in Waikiki that I LOVE, but they have about a zillion menu items and it's all fabulous.)

I actually love Korean food, and my favorite dish is Japchae, or glass noodles with beef, egg and veggies. So that's what I ordered--and not only was it completely overpriced at $8.25, it was the worst japchae I've ever had. The meat was sparse and gristle-y, and there were no shiitake mushrooms--in fact, it was mostly just noodles with a little meat, some slivered carrots, and a couple pieces of cabbage. Right.

So I strongly urge you not to patronize this establishment. Aloha Hawaiian BBQ across the street would be a better choice.

Ohana is by far the best Hawaiian restaurant I have ever been to- including those in the islands! The food is exceptionally good at very reasonable prices. Two can eat for $20 and have left overs for another meal.
Some of my favorites....the bbq short ribs, bbq chicken, ohana ramen & supah salad. Each plated meal comes with rice, a small salad and either beansprout salad or macaroni. The beansprouts are excellent- light and refreshing. The supah salad has a mix of greens, cabbage, almond slivers, crispy noodles and chicken in a light dressing.
A husband and wife own the restaurant and they are sweet and charming. The place lacks ambience (it's in a mini mall) but makes up for it ten fold with amazing food and great prices.

I am simply in love with this place. It is not a gourmet dining setting but the food is fantastic, It gets crowded but one taste of their Hawaiian-Korean-plain yummy food will explain it. The freshest food...however parking is a pain in the butt so be prepapred to circle the lot for a few minutes. It's worth it. If you want to try something amazing go for the Wiki Wiki Noodles or Bim Bim Bop noodles. Outstanding! I haven't tried the meat dishes but my meat-eating friends go bonkers over them. The Hawaiian dishes such as Teriyaki and Katsu are very Hawaiian and tasty, too. I recommend this place if you want good food but don't have a lot of time. Their salmon is good but they will ask if you want white or dark meat chicken for your noodle dishes. It's a buck more but worth it. Healthy, fab food but don't expect luxurious decor...you will be truly disappointed.

I am not an expert on Hawaiian BBQ, in fact the first time I had it was when I went to Ohana for the first time about two years ago.  We went again yesterday and I'm kicking myself for not going more often, especially since it's in my hood.

The food is great, portions are very generous - which is good because it's not cheap.  My husband had beef teriyaki, which is ate all of and manged room for a a shaved ice.  The shaved ice was HUGE, it must have been 40 ounces.  He was a happy camper.

I had the beef short ribs and I had half of it left.  Excellent quality, seriously tasty and tender, perfect rice and killer macaroni salad.

The people running the place are very friendly, seems to be famly owned, but I could be wrong.

It's in a mini-mall which is good for one thing and that's free parking.

Mmm good food! The owner and employees are nice and friendly and the keep the place clean. There is nothing better than going to a place that is nice and clean from the kitchen to the restroom. With that being said, I want to make sure you kno that the food is tasty. I had the BBQ chicken, once with the dark meat and once with the white, I happened to like the dark meat better!
I am going back today to get the Ohana ramen, that i saw someone else get, it looked so good.
The price of the food seems fair and it is a small cozy place that is low key but clean and comfortable...Yum

They say that good things come in small packages...and this is very true of the menu at Ohana BBQ; it's not extensive, but everything on it is great!

Ohana BBQ has, hands down, THE BEST kalbi I've eaten in LA, and it's even better than a lot of places in Hawaii. My boyfriend got the chicken katsu, which was also very good and had a great katsu sauce, which, as any katsu-lover knows, is key. We also ordered a side order of manapua, which the get from Golden Coin, a Filipino restaurant in Hawaii.

Service is friendly. The restaurant is cute. The food is ONO. This is a place that is worth driving to no matter how far away you are!

I am glad that I found this little gem in Studio City. It serves really good Hawaiian BBQ chicken. The mac salad is pretty phenomenal. I have tried the wiki wiki noodles and they are quite tasty. I like that you have the option of ordering brown rice with the BBQ entrees. The last time I visited this place, I ordered the potstickers as an appetizer. They were very good. I recommend trying this place if you are ever in the area.

We found this place by accident shortly after we moved to Studio City...wow, what a find!  Nestled away in a strip mall among Ballys, a UPS store, etc.

It is more of a mix of Hawaiin and Korean food...it is tasty, fresh, and hearty...and they give you a ton!  Very friendly service...when my wife is out and about, I always come here for what amounts to a home-cooked meal.

I'm not a fish guy but even I get their grilled salmon in addition to the bbq chicken or ribs.  You can't go wrong here - they do tons of take-out orders which is not a surprise.

One hint - parking sucks big time in the strip mall...park next door at Office Depot and just walk across...it's a breeze.
