I was never a shoe person-I am more of a sneaker/flip flop gal.....simply put, I normally would have two NICE pair of shoes in my closet and the rest would be from Payless or TjMaxx...
I would wear those nice shoes until they literally were falling apart. I first try and super glue them. If the glue fails, than, and only than, would I set out on the horrendous chore of shoe shopping. As luck would always have it, I never found anything nice or that I liked; the only time I DID, was when I had no money.
Enter Off Broadway. Talk about a big ass warehouse. I felt a bit guilty that such a massive store of just shoes overtook Toys R Us....until I heard a few kids screaming in the clearance section...my guilt dissipated-quickly.
Simply put: Off Broadway, makes shopping for shoes fun. They have designer shoes at warehouse prices. Every shoe is perfectly displayed and the sizes are neatly stacked underneath the display shoes. There is aisle after aisle of women and mens designer shoes. It is huge, wide and bright. I never fell like I am trapped in a cluster fuck. I have never been to one store where I had so many options for not only dress shoes/heels, but boots and sneakers! Think DSW but with better quality, names and price points.
My small but wide foot feels some love! Finally.
Went here last night in a desperate attempt to find comfortable work shoes, and was sadly disappointed with what was in stock. I'm a DSW devotee - and it's possible that I've been entirely too spoiled but the 3-story Downtown Crossing palace o' shoes, but I wish that they had a better selection.
The prices were good, but the selection was just not big enough to really think of it as a "warehouse." Also, unlike DSW, they don't seem to carry rejects from big brands like Nine West and Anne Klein. They did carry Sketchers, but had a really limited range (and not much off of the regular prices).
Also a very poor selection of handbags/leather goods and socks. Maybe when we get solidly into the summer season, their stock will improve. But right now, it's not worth a whole trip by itself.
For months I've been patiently awaiting the arrival of this shoe store. Driving by twice a day on my commute, watching as the building was renovated, getting more and more excited as the store's sign was added and finally almost hitting the car in front of me when I noticed the OPEN flag in the window for the first time.
Arriving last week I couldn't have been more excited. And I'm happy to yelp, I left even more excited and thrilled with the purchase of not one but two great pairs of shoes for only $30!
The store is beautiful. It's big, it's clean, and it's really exactly what you'd want in a shoe store. On that first day, after walking down one aisle, I decided to start in the clearance section. I didn't have to look any further - I found two great new pairs of fall shoes, both 70% off.
I couldn't be happier that a little piece of heaven has landed in my world, better yet on my commute home! My only problem, is I might need a bigger closet. :)
