I've only been here for breakfast, but am hoping to get up here for lunch and/or dinner and drinks too.

Oddfellows is in a good central location on Capitol Hill and the interior is just as hip as all the kids in the neighborhood.

For breakfast I had a baked egg and ham dish with cheese and spinach in a cast iron dish. The eggs were perfect and not overdone. The coffee was plentiful and not burnt. I also got a side of toast, and with their strawberry jam combined with the butter, the toast tasted like a strawberry shortcake.

It is kind of annoying that if you want to order something after you've already ordered and sat down you will have to get in line again. I'll get over it though.

I look forward to coming back here!

I came to Oddfellows with several friends for a fantastic birthday celebration.  I love their open, festive atmosphere, the rustic decor and their simple, yet fancy-pants take on pub food.

My favorite cocktail of theirs is the Oddfellow.  It's kind of like an old fashioned but less sweet.  They also had a tasty IPA on tap (although $7 for an imperial pint is a bit much).  Unfortunately two of my favorite appetizers are no longer on the menu: the rillette and the crispy pork nuggets.  Where did all the piggy go, Oddfellows?  Instead we split the fries (hot and crispy), the cutting board (tasty slices of cured meat) and the truffle & white bean puree (good, but kind of bland).

For dinner I had a tender pork sirloin (ah, pig at last) with fingerling potatoes.  Other hits were the roasted beet salad (very tasty, with chevre and walnuts) and the BLT with avocado (also tasty, but with bread that is a bit too crispy for delicate mouths).  For dessert we split a rich chocolate cherry bread pudding and a hot apple crisp that was piping hot and as delicious as mom's (sorry mom).

Oddfellows was a fun place to celebrate a birthday and is good for groups--although it got pretty busy by 8pm, so I'd get there earlier and snag a couple tables together.  It's also a fun place to stop in for lunch (place your order at the bar and grab a seat--they'll bring it out to you).

The Service was nice and attentive.

In this super crowded Pub feel of a location, the high ceilings and large windows are quite welcoming, but it gets so loud, its hard to hear your friends at the table. but we still had fun.

yummy apps:
- Black truffle and bean with crostinis. delish!! my first time trying it, and i'm in love.
- French fries - we couldn't get enough.

Good:
- sweet potatoes and cheese dish. I can't remember what it was really called... but it was made "au gratin" style... I thought it was ok... but others at the table thought it was "Heaven" Their words not mine. Perhaps my taste buds don't know how to enjoy it.

I get to travel a lot. This place is delightful. Ignore the bad reviews. The funkiness, charm and delightful selection of delicious food is over many people's heads. I'm a large man with a wonderful chef for a wife...trust me. Great food great beer and drinks (try the Elder Fashioned on the rocks.) Polish it off with a Polish lager, the "Pomme Frites" and a peanut butter and jelly cupcake...done.

The food here is good, nothing more.
I've had better for cheaper, but I work really close, so I occasionally go in.

The people at the counter are usually pretty nice.
To-go orders usually take 20-30 minutes, and I never order more than a salad or sandwich, and some coffee.
By the late afternoon their menu changes, but they don't really bother posting this (the first time I went in I asked to look at the to-go menu, was handed one, and then was talked to as if I was being an idiot because I tried to order something off of it) they will tell you what they do have to offer, but only after acting as if you are being absolutely ridiculous to be trying to order a menu item.

I would actually be okay with all of this, because they have very good coffee, and I love having some nice food on the hill now and then, but every time I go in there is a thin, older woman, that glares me down, and then comes up to me and asks if I need something, as if I'm not supposed to be here.
I come in in casual clothes, but this place isn't exactly Salty's. Usually I'm just stopping in on my lunch break.
I've talked to a couple other people, and they'd all experienced this woman as well.

She rang me up once, and we have a discount for people that work in the building, and she wouldn't even listen to me for long enough for me to ask about it. She really makes you feel like all she wants to do is get you out the door.

So, despite the fact that I like their lunches and coffee as a treat, and most of the staff there is really wonderful (some of them are equally dismissive and rude), I'm giving them one star, because I always stress out about going to get my $9 piece of bread with apple slices and a little brie on it, because I know this lady will be here to stare down her nose at me, and that no matter who is helping me she will butt in and talk to me as if I shouldn't be there.

I've rambled, but it's nothing to write home about. Mostly cheap ingredients put together in rather uninspired ways and peddled to hipsters at high prices (who love paying too much for crappy things, so I guess it fits). It's pretentious without having any reason to be, the wait times are ridiculous even when the place is almost empty, and the service sucks.

I also found their baked goods to be dry and bland.

Every time I come in here I feel like they're really trying to be a nice restaurant, but don't know how. Like a parody of nice, tucked-away dinner spot.

Love the space- airy, country distressed knick knack industrial (my interpretation), and inviting. Tall ceilings and large raw wood seating. Oddfellows Cafe & Bar, to me, is the space that you want to come to with a book and order good food to slowly pour over your pages with- or with a group of friends and laugh over treats and seasonal dishes. The space is large enough to feel like an urban escape, but designed in a way that it is comfortable.

I did brunch at Oddfellows with a friend and ordered a baked egg which arrived in a small skillet with ham and cheese. The brunch menu was limited with only a few choices- very bistro style. It offers things like egg sandwiches, eggs cooked in varying styles, healthier fare, and traditional French style light breakfast. The specials (listed in chalk on a board as you walk in) add seasonal diversity to the menu and rounded it out. My egg brunch was delicious.

FYI's~
* There are few chic wire chair and table sets on the walkway outside
* You can order baked goods and drinks at the counter
* Brunch offers service to tables vs. ordering at the counter
* Larger specials chalkboard at night
* Brunch= under $10

Wow this place blew my socks off!
We had been curious for a while and decided to check it out. The place was packed, that's usually a good sign :)
The menu has a variety of American favorites and some new cocktails.

I got the brisket, it tasted delicious and melted in my mouth. The salad it came with was simple but good. The french fries were authentic and great, serviced with mayo.

Loved the big open space, the exposed bricks.  Looked old and new at the same time. The huge windows opening up to the street, wish there was a better view.

The place was packed and the wait staff was busy, but they were all friendly and cheerful.

Overall I was very impressed, I would defiantly recommend it and go back.
It seemed a tiny bit expensive, but my brisket was only 9 dollars, it was my 8 dollar cocktail that doubled my check, maybe I'll skip it next time.

I've only been once, but I really dig this place. The atmosphere, the wait staff, the wonderful beer (I still can't remember the name of it, but I've been told that you can only enjoy this beverage at this and one other bar in Seattle). It was full but it didn't get too loud and I had a lovely time. Their menu looks delish, although we didn't eat since it was the end of the night. I'll definitely go back, though.

We wanted drinks, food, and an interesting atmosphere. Oddfellows is a favorite of our friend who doesnt live too far away and frequently comes here for drinks. We trust her and well now, we love her even more because Oddfellows was a winner!

Instatnly the open windows in the front of the restaurant captivated me. The candlelight throughout with all the old photos was fantastic. They have good beers and a full bar with great old fashioned drinks. They have specialty drinks that I was told rotates from time to time.

We ordered: Macaroni and cheese, roasted beets with chevre and hazelnuts, escarole with figs and walnuts, butter lettuce with raddish and green goddess, fennel and radish, green beans with shallots and a pasta dish with mushrooms and corn.

AND the winners are: Fennel with radish first place! Macaroni and cheese second place! and the roasted beets for third place!
Runners up: Green beans, butter lettuce and escarole
Losers: Pasta dish.

Drinks were great, service was decent but not overly friendly and the drinks didnt dissapoint.

p.s. the bathroom was creepy, down the hall of the apartment building its under and well I did my business fast okay?

Fun night. Would recommend anytime for a drink and a tasty bite.

Awwwww, Oddfellows.  I adore this place!  If it had little baby cheeks to pinch, I'd pinch 'em.  Probably smooch 'em too.  The food is great, maybe a little pricey, but very tasty and very fast.  Waitstaff is so friendly and efficient.  And of course I love the styling and atmosphere, but if you're with somebody and they seat you along the wall, make sure you grab the pew seat... those metal chairs are hard on the bum.  Literally.

I also love how acceptable it is to go there alone, coffeeshop style.  I sat working on my laptop and sucking down Manny's for a couple hours the other day while the breeze blew through the wall of open windows - lovely!!!

Well, the building pulled me in.  I didn't have a great experience though.  Coffee took too long.  The menu items had all the pretentious ingredients, arugula, chevre, whatever, but it just didn't deliver.  I wonder about a breakfast place where you can't just get some bacon and eggs, there's a place for that, but if you're going to displace me from my greasy scramble, you better hit a home run on your California cuisine, and they barely bunted.

This place is still "a-ok" if I'm in the area and want some sustenance.  Service was still "meh" but the taste in food is definitely there.

On my 2nd visit I had their market salad of the day, a la nicoise style and their farro/pork soup.  The former had literal fresh anchovies partitioned out on the salad plate w/all its other components as if it were a cobb vs. nicoise.  I mixed everything together and it was fine.  Soup looked like something my Italian grandma would make, if I did have a nonna.  Very simple in appearance but flavorful in taste.

What I eyed most greedily last night was the outdoor patio, which I spied through an open door in the back, tea lights strung up over cafe tables ringed by a brick wall....

Unsurprising, as most of my fondness for Oddfellows swirls around the airy inviting space itself. I love the wall of windows, the far-away ceiling, the benches so reminiscent of church pews, the mix of stools and chairs, the rows of tables....As another reviewer noted, there's some echo of New York here. Train station? A little Thai spot in SoHo? I can't say for sure, but I sense bits in my memory from the East.

And the environs can go a long way to creating a mood for a meal or a drink, and so while neither is truly amazing here, what I've eaten and drank has even so been simple, honest, and generous. Simple: a short list of well-crafted beer, some inventive but accessible wine representing the world. Honest: mac and cheese, panzanella with veggies, a breakfast sandwich with egg and bacon and cheese done up just a bit, Stumptown coffee. Generous: fresh food, friendly banter from your server, quiet morning space to relax with coffee and the paper in the sunlight through the window.

My favorite part of the menu is the line on the beer list that simply says "Rogue Brewery". Yes, I'll have that, especially there....

Hit this place for breakfast after staggering about in the cold, soaking rain this morning.

The antique, crusty, charmingly mismatched decor is inspiring, and the cafe was the perfect temperature for combating the Seattle drizzle. The breakfast menu is slim, but both entrees sampled at my table were considerably better than expected--we had the baked eggs with spinach, and the homemade oatmeal with brown sugar and fruit. The food arrived promptly and was piping hot and fresh.

A woman came by to refill our coffee twice (and it was wonderful coffee, so unlike most of the muddy, tongue-rotting swill I'm served in this Starbucks-obsessed town), and joked with me, cheerily.

I would definitely go back to Oddfellows, in a heartbeat. Great experience for a wet, gross Friday morning. Looking forward to booze and wifi in the near future.

Let clarify my star rating:

Space and ambiance: 5 stars

When we walked in for lunch today I got excited.  Big airy space, exposed brick, rustic individual and semi-communal seating, open kitchen towards the back, full bar, free wifi, simple and yet creative menu.

Service: 4 stars

Busy lunch rush aside, everyone was nice and polite, albeit a little slow, but still good.

Food: 3 Stars

Tuna tartine: Nothing to write home about.  Just because it's on rustic bread doesn't automatically make it taste good.

Beet salad:  Fancy nicoise with a few beets and a weak vinaigrette.  Just because it's nicoise doesn't make it taste good.

Meat Platter:  The best part of the lunch.  I nice variety of cured meats with olives and baguette toastets (my word not theirs).  I could spread the mustard all over my body.

If I have some good company and a vodka tonic sitting in front of me, it's hard to complain. Really all I need is a little ambiance and some good music, and Oddfellows provided both of those things. I was there on a weeknight, so it wasn't too crowded. It definitely had a restaurant vibe as opposed to a bar vibe, but it was still extremely pleasant. Sunny interior, old photos on the walls, good drinks, good service, good music, just good.

quality americana food, with special attention to quality of ingredients and flavor combinations. menu prices were really friendly, but then i got my entree and it could be best described as "tapas grandes."

this is definitely a bourgie hipster place. don't bring your mom here, unless she is also a bourgie hipster. great atmosphere to people-watch. the vegetarian options are just about limited to a very-very-tasty mac-n-cheese and a variety of salads. if you're vegan, forget it. just have a drink and soak in the very high crowd volume.

great staff. in any other city, they'd be as rude as they are haute couture. not in seattle. these folks were easy going, and attentive to our table, as well.

Went here with my mom around 1pm on a Saturday. I wish I had more of an appetite because all of the food sounded and smelled amazing! We had the soup of the day (potato) and a yougurt, granola and fruit plate.

Prices were reasonable, the food was amazing and came quickly, there were a fair amount of seats, it was very clean, and I liked the decor. I did not like how extremely loud the music was. In addition, without the music, I have a feeling the room echoes and the other talking might also be fairly loud.  My mom and I were practically shouting across our table at each other.

I liked that although it might also be a bar, they had a good brunch vibe that was welcoming to more then just hipsters. I saw a variety of people at this location including professionals and families.

I can't say that I've seen a place quite like Oddfellows, at least not on this side of the country.  Reminds me a lot of joints in NYC -- wide open space with plenty of tables and such, with a cafe-type on one side where the baristas do their thing.  We were practically forced here when our other choice of venue was a little TOO full.  So when we walked in one late night, it was brimming with conversation and life and feasting people, and I was worried we wouldn't get a place to sit.

The young man at the head of the house that night was extremely accommodating to us, and managed to snag us a larger-sized table (there were 3 of us, and most of the openings were for 2) within 15 minutes.  In our indecision and frivolity we ordered a number of items to split between us.  Sadly though, there was no more chicken as our server glumly broke the news to us.  (Which means it must be GREAT in order for it to run out!)  So we opted for the pulled pork sandwich, their veal special, a side of mac and cheese, and the pommes frites.  (I think we also ordered some other entree but I can't recall at the moment...)

Although our main dishes were nothing really to sing praises about, the sides were totally made of the good stuff to write home about!  The mac and cheese featured a sharp cheddar sauce that, while not for everyone, is most certainly for me.  Why the hell does Seattle have such amaaaaaazing cheese and cheese-related products?!?!  I already love it here too much.  Anyway, the fries were absolutely crisped and presented to perfection.  Those Belgians, they really did good on this tasty dish.

Perfectly complemented by beers (both alcoholic and root), the food was tasty, if not in small portions, and came out in a timely manner.  However, aside from the mac and cheese, nothing really popped out at me as being particularly noteworthy.  I was probably more awestruck at the company flanking me -- my original little bro and hostess with the mostest Fobert, and one of my favorite people in the whole wide world that I seldom get to see, Jefferson -- and although the place was cool, and the people were nice, and the food was okay, there's nothing else really that I would recommend on a return trip.  It's A-OK in my book.

I sat at the bar and had the BBQ pulled pork sandwich and macaroni and cheese. I've had pork sandwiches at a dozen places around Seattle and I'd put this one solidly in the lower half. The meat was dry, bland, and the bun was tough & burnt on the outside. The accompanying coleslaw was highly vinegary (I prefer sweeter) with hot pickled peppers--a welcome spicy kick.

Macaroni and cheese was not bad, just unremarkable. The cheese had a slightly sharp taste to it, but I am looking for something bolder, or sharper, or more savory, or onions--just something more in most any direction.

Food was over priced, I mean come on 8 bucks for lettuce? And there where not many choices. Plus side they have these "Imperial" size beers. Still even the beer was over priced. And you sit on these horribly uncomfortable picnic benches.
First time (and last) I went there I had just got back from camping. Last thing I wanted to do was sit inside on another picnic bench.

Love the rustic, casual atmosphere of this place - they've got their theme down to a T. Our server was pleasant and attentive. The hard, picnic-table-style seating is quaint, but it doesn't encourage lingering.

The food was a mixed bag. My "vegetable risotto" ($12) was a bowl of rice with corn and dried mushrooms. Risotto should be creamy, not dry, and I expected some green summer veggies. The pork chop ($16) was incredibly flavorful, and it would have great to have some bread to sop up the sauce. Alas, no bread was served - just the pork and two tiny potatoes. Every dish at the table was bare-bones. Even the salad was just lettuce with dressing. The desserts, a blackberry cobbler and bread pudding with berries, were worth the visit. But overall the place seems overpriced for what it is.

I would go back for a quick dessert if I happened to be in the neighborhood, but this wouldn't be the place I'd choose for a relaxing dinner or drink with friends.

This is absolutely the best of the Linda's bars. I'm sure there's a better term for that.

Oddfellows and two Black Boss Porters are a welcome addition to any night I'm out on the hill, especially since the subtraction of memory generally comes from later on in the evening as some other crappier bar.

The food is decent, but I'm bigger on the chatting and boozing atmosphere. It's very atypical for Seattle, in that you're almost forced to hear everyone's conversation. No Bleu Bistro-style semi-privacy for you here.

So, I have been here twice, but only had a meal here once. My last visit, which was Thursday evening around 7PM, a friend and I decided that we would sit in the cute little "courtyard" area in the back. I guess that was our mistake because after sitting out there for 20 minutes, not one person came over to serve us. There were two other tables that were occupied outside, and the waitress came outside at least three times, but whenever we tried to get her attention, it was as though we did not exist. Since we had plans and couldn't wait an hour for someone at least bring us some water, we left.

I came here on one other occasion several weeks ago, and the service was also slow, but friendly. I ordered the mac & cheese and strawberry shortcake for dessert. The mac was decent, and if I was a big fan of whipped cream, the shortcake would have been awesome.

I really want to give this place more than two stars, but that won't happen unless their service gets better.

Continuing my quest for casual places to eat that serve comfort food with some flair, I've been checking out Oddfellows over the last month or so. I've been 3 times and have had various degrees of luck.

AMBIANCE & SERVICE: 4-stars. Cute place, lots of wood, super high ceilings. Staff was friendly and helpful and food came reasonably fast.
Parking, as it's capitol hill, was a challenge, but the same could be said of any places nearby. It gets crowded and noisy as the place is popular with the short beard/hat/thick black glasses crowd. Still, lively, and enjoyable.

FOOD: This is where they lose a star. Quality of food was all over the map. Pulled Pork Sandwich (at lunch) and Chicken entree (Dinner) were both 2 stars at best. Bland and off putting. Mac N Cheese was better, but still a little simple tasting. I really enjoyed my French Dip (A good value at $8) and a few sides I had like the fried Ricotta tomato dish and another side of green beans (spendy at $6 though).

OVERALL: It's a welcome addition to the area. Some of the food is quite good but a fair amount was barely OK at best (see above). Overall, I can't muster up more than 3 stars. If you want a casual place to grab some comfort food for lunch, and want a little more intrigue and taste for dinner, try Louisa's.

I found myself without a dinner companion tonight but didn't want to eat fast food in front of the television in my apartment. So I bellied up to the bar at Oddfellows, and the bartender was so nice he made me forget that I was feeling a little weird about eating dinner alone on a Sunday night. Thank you for that, nice bartender guy!

I ordered a pear cider, a French Dip sandwich, and - based on fellow Yelp'er Lily's review below - the macaroni and cheese. First, the mac and cheese. I couldn't tell exactly what kind of cheese they use, either, but whatever it is, it tastes AWESOME. It doesn't have the bite of cheddar, and it has the smokiness and softness of something like a smoked gouda. Who knows? Who cares? Just shove some of that mac and cheese in your piehole, stat.

Most of the room in my stomach was occupied by the mac and cheese, so I only could eat half my French Dip sandwich. But it was still great -- served on a toasted baguette with the perfect crust-to-chewy ratio; the meat was tender, and the jus was wonderfully beefy without being salty or greasy.

Simple food that's prepared well and priced just right? it's just my kind of place. Score!

My 2nd and last visit!
I am amazed that so many of you have good things to say about this place! You must be related 2/friends with/sleeping with/crushing on or possibly stalking the wait staff.
The two times I've gone in for dinner it has taken longer than a 5 course meal, but I only ordered a beer and a dinner salad.
The food is alright and the place has a nice ambiance but, the wait staff is rude, slow and ridiculously arrogant.
You are a waiter/waitress! You are in customer service! Make eye contact! Check on your tables! Be humble! It's your job!
For every One person you rub/snub the wrong way 5-15 people follow.
Odd fellows needs to change out their wait staff to some kick ass nice people.

I'm quickly becoming a fan of Oddfellows Cafe and Bar. People are friendly and the food is great. If you're a fan of cold soup this is the place. They have a signature cookie named after their place AND if you ever have the opportunity to try their PB and J cupcake - do it! It's totally insane. Like I said, everyone there is real nice, but sometimes they can hit a lull and you're wondering if they forgot you.

I used to frequent Surrogate Hostess back in the day on 19th across from St. Joseph's and Oddfellows reminds me of that place. Probably the communal seating (which is not throughout).

I pay under $10 for my soup and bread with desert. I haven't tried dinner and drinks yet.

I went here for brunch a few Saturday ago.  It seems like a cool place from the outside...the ppl inside are all very hip looking.

At first, I was a bit disappointed with the limited brunch menu.  They had like 4-5 items to choose from.  We ended up getting the eggs benedict and the lox plate.

I was very pleasantly surprised that the eggs benedict was so good.  Eggs were not runny, yolk was creamy and the hollandaise sauce on top was just perfect.  The lox plate had a generous portion of lox and creme fraiche.  I actually prefer creme fraiche over the typical cream cheese.  It's lighter, and it spreads better and I'm hoping that it's also lower in calories =)

This place is pretty laid-back and spacious.  You don't have to wait in line for your table and still get pretty decent brunch.  And the price is not too bad either.  Perfect spot for a lazy Sunday.

Oddfellows is an all-purpose bar/restaurant/cafe, appropriate for just about any occasion. Behold:

Casual first date? Grab a two-person table along the window-wall and sip a delicious cocktail.

Reunion with old friends from college? Grab a larger picnic-like-table and order a bunch of Rainiers.

Got a few hours to kill by yourself? Belly up to the bar and order a latte and bring your computer because they have WiFi.

The food is simple, the clientele is interesting, and the atmosphere is casual. I could sit here for hours.
