Is this place on a hiatus or are they gone forever? I've been checking up on this place for a few weeks and the chairs/stools are still hung upside down onto the tables and the jail-esque gates over the doors are still locked.

At this rate, I'm hoping that they relocated for better traffic? Fuck convenience. Just please don't let them be out of business foreverrrr.

    Sincerely,

    Burrito Luv3r.

You don't understand how much I love this place. THIS PLACE IS MY FAVORITE TAQUERIA EVER! There is no way that you can not like this place!

I've tried their burritos and quesadillas, and I've been more than happy with what I got. Been coming here for the past...5 years now? You will literall get a burrito that is trying to escape from its cage and unleash its mouthwatering goodness in your mouth. I recommend the steak super burrito w/ extra red sauce and the chicken quesadilla if you want to see what I'm talking about.

It's nice because they take credit/debit cards and parking is usually not too bad (metered). If you're gutsy, you could even double park right outside, run in and order, get your goods, and run back out!

If you like juicy burritos, and i mean it when i say JUICY! You'll have to give this place a try. For ~$7, you can have one of the best food comas of your life!!!!!

Great local taqueria.  I've been to almost every taqueria in the city, and this is one of the best.  All of their tacos, burritos, and quesadillas are awesome.  My favorite is their Baby Burrito (nothing baby about it) because it has everything you need for about $5.  Any other burrito will probably be 2 meals!  If you're around Ocean Ave, this is the taqueria to go to.

Deff. want to check out if you are a fan of burritos. Not really "real" tacos to me because the tortillas are huge and are filled with a lot of stuff. (I'm used to tacos filled with cilantro, salsa, and very few ingredients)  But the carne asada is delicious. Customer service is really friendly and generous.
Salsa verde couldn't be any better.

My friends and I were making dinner until one of them decided that we needed to get horchata in order to enjoy our meal....so we drove here just for the horchata.

Parking is difficult because it's street parking and it's usually packed, but nothing unbearable. The place itself is really small. They have a cute little cardboard menu for you to look at. It looks ghetto but it has it's charm too.

The workers are friendly. They give you free samples of their aguas frescas (they had horchata, strawberry drink, and something else....). What was different was that they offer to mix the horchata and the strawberry drink for you so you have strawberry horchata. I think it tastes delicous...but it's pretty much like fresher strawberry milk.

I usually don't think much of horchata when I get it from taquerias because they're usually grainy or watery--or both! THIS place, in my opinion, has the best horchata that I've had from any taqueria thus far. I've never been so satisfied with horchata that I didn't make myself.

I plan on going back here so I can try their food...but in the meantime, I rate 4 stars because of the horchata.

Best burritos in the city, if I'm craving a burrito this is the palce I go everytime.
The burriots are huge, the food is fresh, the atmosphere is the perfect combination of dingy and cozy.
Just don't try to call in your order, they're terrible at getting call-in orders right.

And if it's your birthday or you're a cute girl you'll probably get something for free!

Not the best and not the worst. I remember this place being A LOT yummier 5 years ago. Not enough sour cream and guac on my burritos or quesadillas. But the meat was seasoned well (a little salty but yummy) and the staff was nice.

Don't try that damn orange salsa. My mouth was burning for like 15 mins.

This is probably one of my favorite horchata spots (I'm obsessed with horchata). It is a little on the expensive side though because you can go the other direction (towards BART) and get a large for $3. It really depends on what flavor you prefer. I like both.

The burritos are also good, but quite expensive. A "baby" burrito is $5.00. I went in there today and saw a dad buying one baby burrito for each of his two kids, and wondered why he didn't just buy the larger one with more ingredients included to split in half.

The staff is super nice. This place is good, but I would consider this a "luxury" burrito, and good burritos don't need to be luxurious.

This used to be my favorite burrito place but their prices started to skyrocket and the size of their burrito got much smaller. I went back here after craving a burrito and I ordered the streak super burrito. I told the person making my burrito that I didn't want it spicy. Went to pay and the total was $8.21. I thought that was kind of pricy for the size since there are other burrito places on Ocean avenue much cheaper for the same quality.

Anyways, when I take a bite of my burrito its spicy!! It still tasted pretty good though but the size was so small and I still had room left over for seconds. Usually I cannot finish a whole burrito and save it for dinner. Overall, this place is ok. Nothing that really stands out to make me go out of my way to come here.

Deeeelicious juicy burritos. Upon request, they grill the meat with onions and bell pepers hot and fresh. If you want to go lighter, you can order the baby burrito (how adorable is that?).

Besides the awesome burritos, this place looks a little dark, dirty, and dingy. The cooks have varied from being welcoming and poking fun to a look of death if you don't hurry up and order. This is probably why I hesitate to go back, though I really want to.

If they cleaned the place up a bit and get a better attitude, I just may be brave enough to go back one day.

I used to come here all the time and I loved getting a baby burrito (there is nothing "baby" about it -- it's huge), but lately this place isn't as good as it used to be.

The prices aren't that great, especially for the nachos. Don't order those. Seriously.

My expectations: A pile of crisp chips, topped with luscious layers of savory rice, beans, lettuce, pico de gallo, cheese, sour cream, guacamole, etc.

Reality: A handful of soggy chips with rubber-like cheese that was put in the microwave, and close to a $8 bill. I literally bartered with the guy because it was not worth paying so much for such an unaesthetic dish. Not even joking.

I'm Yelping this burrito as I'm eating it.  Forget the Mission. Ocean Taqueria is THE BEST burrito spot in SF. There, I said it.

I think their secret is that they steam their tortillas a lot longer than everywhere else which makes them really tender and a little moist, which makes a big difference in the taste.

pollo verde, cheese, rice, black beans, lettuce, pico de gallo, and guacamole. Heaven wrapped in foil.

Ocean Taqueria is one of two eateries in my fine new home of Fran Sancisco which are redefining my idea of the mexican and cheap-delicious-hole-in-the-wall genres (Taqueria Cancun is the other).

I find that one of the best litmus tests for determining the quality of such establishments is tallying the number of white people decked out in North Face or Prana who have lots of woo-woo, pedantic things to say about organic this and sustainable that, reciting whatever they can remember from Food Inc... while stuffing their faces with who-knows/who-cares-where-it-came-from sloppy Mexican goodness.

Don't get me wrong.  Just because Ocean Taqueria's windows and menus aren't gilded with plus-sized proclamations of the awesome green-ness of their every compostable spork and cruelty-free scoop of pork fat  *doesn't necessarily mean* it isn't responsibly sourced food.  The point is that with or without that assurance, even the people who identify with those issues, maybe even those who consider it something of a prerequisite to their patronage, buckle under the burrito pressure... regularly.

This is a phenomenon we have all witnessed.  There are some things that are so derishous as to break wills and suspend principles, if only for the length of a lunch hour.  Ocean Taqueria is primary habitat for this peculiar but popular variety of grazing among Hippie sapeins, and with good reason.

$7.50 will buy you many things at Ocean Taqueria.  One of them is a Super Burrito Mojado w/ meat & fixins of your choice.  It is nine feet long and made of 28 kinds of pure happiness from the vegetable animal and mineral worlds.  If you show up with a pretty girl, Eduardo will likely ask if she is your girlfriend or your sister, and proceed to spiff up said burrito with more Mexican flare than a Oaxacan teachers union riot.  He will pass little giblets of delicious things across the counter throughout the cooking process (which included ALLIGATOR last night) and subtly invite you/pretty girl to engage in some Spanish small talk, whether or not you can even muster the pronunciation skills to order properly.  You can savor your behemoth (or baby, they come in all sizes) beside proud portraits of legendary Mesoamerican leaders gone by, under delightfully terrible lighting, over the pleasant din of griddle hisses, Mexican radio and back-of-the-house banter.

If that, an agua fresca and a post-dinner smoke don't put a smile on you, you should really consider therapy.

Yuck! I'm part Mexican... So I
know my Mexican food and this is possible the worst I've ever had. First off the nachos were $10!  There were no whole chips just crumbles of chips and they were incredibly salty (chips were covered in salt).  The meat was ok so one star for that. If you really think this place is good, you must have not tried real Mexican food.

Never had a better burrito than this place.  Not El Farolito (although really awesome).  Not Taqueria Can Cun (also pretty awesome).  No place I've ever tried grills their pollo better.  Make sure you ask them to add peppers and onions to the grill, that makes a difference.  But man, I don't know what else to say about this place, they really do make the best burrito hands down.

I hate to say it, but meh.

I wanted to love this place as it's right around the corner from where I live.  I really, really did.

The prices are steep.  That's ok for amazing food, so I went ahead and gave it a couple shots.  I ordered grilled chicken both times-- once in a quesadilla, once in a burrito.

It just wasn't very good either time.  The guy who made my burrito seemed like he was new or something, he didn't know what to put it in and had to keep asking the other worker questions.  He also didn't ask me what I wanted it in either, he alternated between staring at me blankly and ignoring me completely.  The quesadilla was made expertly, but I've had wayyyy better.  Both times my food was extremely bland.

I'd rather take a few minutes and drive over to El Farolito than walk a block to this place.  Boo.  :(

What a waste of calories. Are people seriously giving this 5 stars? My burrito had rice in it that was the consistancy of mashed potatoes. It was honestly mushy white rice with no seasoning. One of the most unappetizing things I have ever tasted. This nasty ass rice was in our whole order. I thought it was just my burrito but no. They put rice in the nachos and my boyfriends quesadilla. Since when does rice go in nachos and quesadillas. The only explanation for this nastiness is that the two fourteen year olds making the food were high as hell.
Avoid this place at all costs. Unless you like mashed potatoes.

The BF and I love sharing food. It's a bummer that most of the time, we have to order a ton of food because I eat so much!!!!!

Ah that is not the case at Ocean Taqueria. They have a JUMBO BURRITO which is the size of two burritos! Now, I know we could easily buy two burritos and just eat together. This is more intimate and it has some romantic bullissssh feeling. LAME I know ;)

The burritos are always super moist and delicious. BF always rants and raves about how amazingly the burritos are amazingly moist. I don't notice much of a difference but I like the burritos!

Oh yaaah, they have this green salsa which is AMAZING. Get it as dip for chips! :)

Reason that they don't get the full five stars is because the chips are stale most of the time :/

Carne Asada usually grosses me out.  Either it's flabby raw or rock-hard crumbled into my burrito.  Ocean Taqueria ACTUALLY cooked the carne asada perfectly!  Bravo!

My sad little three-star rating is because the rice was bland.  The refried beans were also bland.  The red and green salsas were great, but there just wasn't enough in my burrito.  Also, no chips and salsa.  Mmmm, almost unacceptable.  Free chips and salsa go a long way in my book.

So... I got a random craving for horchata last week and did a Yelp search for it. Somebody left a review for this place saying it had really good horchata, so I thought I'd try it out.

Today I went biking here with my roommate. It was actually a little bit further away than I had expected, so I was starting to hope that it would be worth it. The place was surprisingly small compared to what I was expected. I ordered a Super Veggie burrito, chips, and a small horchata. It came to $9 with a tip... But then I noticed that my burrito looked TINY. For the first time in my life I finally understood something I never thought I'd experience as a man; being disappointed with something that was too small.

They must have accidentally given me a regular size burrito instead of a super. Compared to my roommate's regular burrito, mine was about half the size. I was really confused and upset and knew that it wasn't going to satisfy me 100%. So, being the fatass that I am, I decided to buy a veggie taco, which ran me another $5. Altogether, I dropped almost $15 bucks at this place, which seemed really ridiculous.

The food itself was, in fact, exceptionally good. 5 stars there.
The service was okay, but I think they got my order wrong, so they're only getting 3 stars here.
The price was a bit more than your average taqueria, so I'd only give them 2 stars there.

Over all, this place is probably a 4 star joint, but I'm giving them a tentative 3 for now based on my experience. I'd definitely go again if I am in the area.

I generally only go to Taqueria Guadalajara for burritos when I'm back home from college, but my boyfriend dragged me here claiming its super famous and has the best burritos. Yeah, I recommend Taqueria Guadalajara on Mission to all those who praise Ocean Taq.The people here are really friendly and they make your food right where you can watch and added bonus, really quickly! But the taste seemed like there was too much rice and the meat wasn't as tender and chewy as other places I've gone.. And I've been to a lot of burrito joints as they are my weakness hehehe. The prices are decent, but I'd say you can get a better tasting burrito for the same price elsewhere.

As much as I used to love this place, I'm finally going to have to put my foot down. After my month long excursion into the taqueria's of the Mission I have changed my mind about you.

Though I love you for the convenience, the fast service and the good food, I have found that sadly, you are not the best in my book anymore.

I realized that every other taqueria gives me free chips & salsa with my order whereas I had been buying them from you nearly every time!  Though your quesadillas are pretty good, they lack that savory flavour and fall apart easily.  Your prices are also slightly higher than average for what I'm getting.

Though not the best, you are by far the greatest taqueria near my house and you have the best HOT SAUCE hands down.

    You are A-OK + half a star.  Thanks (:

There's a lot to recommend about this place.  The food is very good and the portions are enormous.  The service is great but quirky - it's hard to describe but i had a couple memorable exchanges with the cashier.  The cook takes your order, item by item, and produces exactly what you're after.  Again, all good.  I had a fish burrito and found it fresh and delicious.  A friend ordered the largest quesadilla (really just a folded over burrito) i'd ever seen and all 6 of us seemed very pleased.

Still, it's a little overpriced and they charge for chips and salsa.  So a fish burrito, chips and a coke is $14.  Seems steep.  It's also the coldest restaurant I'd ever been in.  Yes, it was 45 degrees outside today but it sure wasn't much warmer at Ocean Tacqueria.  Maybe they were trying to create an Ocean Beach-like ambience.

A solid place but with so much good mexican in the surrounding 10 blocks, I don't see becoming a regular.

I was starving after getting my nails done across the street. I ordered a super chicken burrito with a whole wheat tortilla. Yes...they have whole wheat tortillas. That's a plus in my book. It came with chicken, rice, beans, sour cream, guacamole, cheese, lettuce and salsa. The burrito was yummy and huge. The chicken was grilled to order. Not like many places where it sits in a pot waiting to be scooped. I've also tried their carne asada tacos before and it was delicious.

My reaction to this being my 100th review and it being a slightly disappointing experience: TRIPLE MEHHHH (scratching my  head while "mehhing", too!!)

Maybe I set the expectation too high when walking into this joint. I heard some good things about the food here, not the ambiance or service, but about the food, so I thought sure I should give it at least a try, right?

Pro's (Let's start off w/ this, then I'll get on to the real nitty gritty):
-It's conveniently located right across the street from 24Hour Fitness. If you're hungry, done w/ your workout, and in need of some replenishment? Sure. It's closeby and worth a shot... if you want!!
-They seem to have some faithful patrons, not many, but they do have them. I witnessed at least 2 different groups, and we were dining there for at least 30 minutes.
    -Prices are reasonable.

    Cons:
-Ambiance: It's a small taqueria so I shrugged my shoulders when I walked into this little hole in the wall spot. However, it's not clean. They even use what looks like a cardboard cut-out as their big display menu. Wow. Can't they invest in something a little bit more 2010 or slightly up-to-date?
-Service: Sure they were friendly, but damn were they forgetful. The BF ordered a burrito w/ no rice and beans. Twice she had to re-do it because maybe she wasn't paying attention the first two times she asked.
-Food: It was okay. However, the shrimp and steak burrito I ordered seemed to have been lacking the main ingredients: "shrimp and steak". Talk about minimal. Chips weren't complimentary like they are at other locations. And regarding being sanitary, was it even sanitary? The cashier and cook were one in the same person. Hmmm!!!

Tip: Sorry to say this, but head over to Taqueria Guadalajara for some good authentic tasty grub. It will not disappoint, especially not like here.

Not the worst burrito but if you have time I'd go a little further to la corneta or even Gordos. Also overpriced.

It really pains me to have to give this place such a low review because I've been a customer since their opening. Now Ocean Taqueria has always been a great spot in the Ingleside area to get a quick burrito without having to go down to the Mission for something halfway decent.

Food wise, their stuff isn't the greatest. It is rather bland and theres nothing exceptionally standout, but it definitely makes Gordo's and similar dime-a-dozen taquerias pale in comparison. The food being ridiculously bland never bothered me until...

...they started raising the prices over the years to outrageously high levels. I bought a steak nachos and a drink about a week ago and shelled out over 12 dollars. The regular and super burrito will both cut your 20 in half. If I'm paying THAT much, I want El Farolito-class Mexican food.

This place would've easily gotten four stars from me if it weren't for their spikes in pricing. The environment is small and cozy with an outdoor dining area. The workers are friendly, especially if you are a familiar face. The salsa brings everything home.

What, you can't give half a star on yelp!!? Because this place is really below average. When I first moved to the area, my new roommate recommended this place. His words to describe this place were, "It's AMAZZZZING, so good. They're the best burritos in the city". I trusted him, plus his British accent made it seem like this place was going to be AMAZZZZING...

They have a large menu with an array of meats to choose from. They will grill some of the meat for you, and you can ask them to put peppers and onions to cook the meat with. That's about the only good part about this place. Oh, and that and I live about 3 block away.

They rised their prices because of the state of the economy, but that's what the economic stimulus package is for, right!? It's about $8 for a super burrito, which comes with cheese, sour cream and guacamole. The regular burrito is about $6, but it doesn't come with cheese!! What's a burrito without cheese? Not a fucking burrito.

So the minute I bite into this thing, I get sprayed in the eye with a half-sour-cream-and-half-guacamole solution. Seriously, the sour cream and guacamole are runny and watery. I had to wrap the burrito in the plastic bag they gave me. I would've gotten a bowl for the "soup" and eaten it with chips but they don't even give you chips!! WTF, I paid $8 and you can't give me stale tortilla chips?

After eating this burrito, I was unsatisfied and was thinking how on earth my roommate thought this was a good place. After living with him for a bit, I realized he was just a moron.

My 1st Negative Yelp!!  More are coming...

What a waste of $5.48 cents. YUCK. How you can fuck up a Veggie Taco I will never know.

The corn tortillas were mushy...  The contents was bland...I had to put salt on my food.

I hate runny sour cream and runny Guacamole. That means they are trying to stretch the food. That is a rip-off. El Burritto Express would never do this..

I always see the Hispanic Voice of Pentacost kids in here afterschool.
Future Gourmet Foodies these kids are not.

Don't believe the Yelp...I mean Hype about this place. AVOID this place better yet run...not for the border...but for El Burritto Express on Taraval Street.

Infodiva is ashamed this "pocho" place is in her hood. Nasty... Now I have to go and eat my leftover Naan from Zante Pizza.

94132 OMI Ocean Avenue  The Hood.

I've been coming here (once in a while) since middle school, which was like 7-8 years ago! I still love it here, they're burritos are moist and flavorful! I love the tortilla they use, their burrito compressor is really useful. Compacts everything in that burrito, and i usually ask them to grill the burrito after they had wrapped it for that 'EXTRA' crisp crunch on the outside. They have no problem doing that either. Definitely a place to grab a quick bite or pick-up! :)

Matt was in the Ingleside area to do some work. And boy, after a long and busy morning, is he hungry!

This Taqueria is small with 6 total small tables (4 indoor & 2 outdoor). Coming here at exactly noon means a full-house dining there with no available tables for Matt to stuff his face.

Matt ordered the Carne-Asada (grilled-steak) Super-Burrito. Their $7.00 version, which contained the usual disgusting filling (meat, guacamole, salsa, sour-cream, cheese, rice, onion and tomato), is smaller than other Taquerias than what Matt has tried. The silver-bullet had very little rice, but was surprisingly tasty. Beside the standard flour-tortilla, this taqueria also has two kinds of Tortilla (Sun-Dried-Tomato & Pesto).

Unfortunately, one super-burrito didn't satisfy Matt. So he ordered a second big boy: Carnitas (grilled Pork) on a Pesto Tortilla. The specialty tortilla made a "huge" difference in making the second silver-bullet very tasty. A bag of corn Tortilla-chips was fifty cent an bag. Matt ate the hearty meal with a can of Diet-Coke, which costs one-dollar.

Credit Cards are accepted at this taqueria, but Matt had cash, in which they also accept.

Every time when Matt displays his high-metabolic appetite in a taqueria, awareness from patrons and workers get noticed immediately.

Early morning. about 1 pm.  Hungry.  Don't want to cook.  BURRITO!!!!!
Closest burrito joint, Ocean!  Hop in car, driving fast, no parking=(  Inside!!!!!  Phewf, that was an adventure.  Order: Carne burrito with everything on a spinach tortilla.   Guy mad it kinda messy, not a fan of that.  Not a lot of guac, sour cream and such, again messy.  Pay... $8.79.  WTF if says $6.75 on the wall.  Ewe a lot extra for my especial tortilla, no bueno.

The menu is written in different colors, hard to read.  Minus one.

El tap on site.  Plus one.  Juicy burrito, guessing because of the messy making and additional bean sauce from trying to go fast.  Not a fan.

Free water bottles because they had not fountain.  Plus one point.

Trying to yelp on my phone while eating, not a good idea.  Plus I still cant figure out how to write a review from my PDA, help anyone??

Wont come back unless lethally necessary.

Best bargain in my neighborhood.  A "regular" size burrito (about $5) makes my pants tight.  A "super" (about $7) could only be consumed while wearing elastic waist voluminous stretch pants, and perhaps lying down.

The place is tiny and kind of depressing, but anyone who knows anything about food knows that wonderful things can and do come from less-than-picturesque environments.  So get in line, and read the hand-written menu on the wall, order, and in 5 minutes or so you'll have a made-to-order taco, burrito or quesadilla with all of the fixings.  You get to choose the type of beans and spiciness of the sauce. Today I had a regular burrito with carne asada and mild sauce, and on other days I get the chicken with spicy sauce.  The meat is grilled in front of you,  so you don't get the heebie jeebies wondering how long it's been sitting around in its own grease-juice.

The menu is standard and simple.  They have agua fresca which is pretty good.  I like having Ocean Taqueria around as my neighborhood "fast food" joint.
