A solid 3 stars.

A big clue it aint the Ritz? Shampoo and Conditioner in one.
But it aint Motel 6 either: no crusty spots or skid marks on these sheets.
Perfect if your gettin' your party on in Encinitas and dont want to make the one-eyed  drive back down south. So while your tangled tresses may be screaming bloody murder, your car and your lawyer will be singin Hallelujah.

I considered rating this three stars because of the convenient location (walking distance to the beach and a sake bar), but it is really a two star hotel.  With taxes we paid about $140 for a dirty and stinky room with ripped sheets.

With respect, I disagree with the reviewer who deemed the Ocean Inn higher quality than a Motel 6.  (I have been to nicer Motel 6s.)  You might be happier in a hotel in Carlsbad and driving to Encinitas or Leucadia.

This is a perfect place to stay if you're really drunk and wandering around HWY 101 late at night or if you're lookin' to play a friendly game of "just the tip" with your date for the night. Remember to put your cowboy hat on the door knob if that boat's 'a rockin, however. Saddle up, partner!

This is an okay hotel but can be over-priced for what you get. The rooms are nothing special although they say that they have recently been remodeled. They don't appear that much different from when my friend stayed there a few years ago. There is also no pool or hot tub on the premises. Very close to some great beaches such as Stone Steps and Grand View.

Leucadia is a great place to vacation as it really has everything but there are a few other really awesome hotels in this Encinitas neighborhood that I would choose first.
