No visit to Key Biscayne is complete without a quick stop at the Oasis. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I am also going to recommend the pan con bistec. Order it, set your gaze upon it and sing it a love song. It's the least you could do for something so delicious.

The croquetas are also very good. I usually order 3 or 4 to take home and they never make it past the causeway.

The Oasis is a great place to get picnic food. Bring a cooler; fill it up; surprise your friends; be loved.

Pros: Great price, surprisingly wonderful selection that looked really delicious (wish i had tried some of the dishes), cheap, it has divey type feel (because it's a dive), staff was polite, funny, and kept on hitting on my girlfriend and assuming that i didn't understand Spanish.... sheesh...

Cons: gets a little crowded, no real seating area (but what do you expect from a sandwich shop),

We got OJ an empanada and an arepa.   The OJ was fresh squeezed and you actually saw the machine do the juicing... it tasted great.  The empanada was ok, not great.  The arepa would have tasted a lot better but it was cold in the center not warm and gooey as it should've been.

Bottom Line: It's a great place to get a bite if you happen to be in Key Biscayne and don't want to spend a biziillion dollars but I wouldn't go out of my way to overly recommend or visit it.  To be fare... I do often go out of my way and eat at dives... so don't think i'm discriminating just because it's a dive.

The coffee is amazing. No matter what you're getting it is constantly and consistently good and sweetened perfectly.

The orange juice is freshly squeezed and amazing. I HATE orange juice, and I can knock this stuff back like water.

The plantain chips are stellar, I've been grabbing bags from here since I was a young kid. You truly won't find better ones anywhere else.
I used to love the food, the congri is actually vegeterian! You don't find that anywhere in Miami. Unfortunately the rest of the food has given my beau and his co-workers food poisoning on many occasions.. o.O

The staff is very very friendly.

So basically, go for staples not for sit down food, unless you have a strong STRONG stomach... :)

The pan con bistec was good (although I'm still not a fan of those shoestring fries that comes from a can inside any pan con bistec around Miami). Ingredients were fresh and the sandwich was freshly made.

The plantain chips were a pleasant surprise - according to them it was made in house, but whether that's true or not, they were tasty and one of the best I've had to date.

The orange juice was freshly squeezed.

Locals in business suits, beach outfit, and all else still flock to this place, and I'm sure that this is still the best place for Cuban on Key Biscayne - as long as you don't mind it being a true hole in the wall and its dirty appearances.

And gosh, after 3 years, they really need to start thinking about adding stools! But regardless, we'll be back!

I noticed a hoard of people in bicycle tights in front of this joint so I ventured in. There did not seem to be anything healthy... Had a croqueta which probably negated my 10 mile sunday morning jog and then had some fried cheese sticks. Come for some oily and greasy delights.

Dear Oasis,

I really love you. I eat here all the time and at all hours.  From breakfast to taking dinner home, you are always there for me.

Now that you guys have known me for half my life, you always hook me up and give me the best deals!  :)  Thank you for all my discounts.

If I order over the phone, you always make sure my order is ready in 10 minutes, and is waiting for me, with a huge smile, from one of your lovely family members.

Thanks for another great lunch today.  My pan con bistec was perfect, as always, and my sopa de pollo really warmed my heart.

xoxo,
Sabrina*

Oasis doesn't look like much from the outside, but when we found ourselves on Key Biscayne with hunger pangs, we checked Yelp and were guided here by the positive reviews.  The flan was a surprising stand-out.  They have a rustic, extra caramel-y, homemade version like non other.  It's made in a loaf, which they slice and serve with a little extra sauce, and the sauce fills all of the little air bubbles in the custard with more caramel sweetness...mmm mmm.  I don't know when I'll be back in this area to eat Oasis's flan, but it's set a standard for me that has inspired a "flan phase" and tedious hunts for a similar version of flan in my present location.
