I don't understand how the prices can remain so affordable when the cost of flour, butter, milk, eggs (etc.) are now so high. I'm not complaining, just amazed! The quality is very good. I love the chocolate donuts and the apple coffee cake. We ordered a chocolate cake for a birthday here and it was wonderful - and only $16! I was not crazy about the buttercream frosting, but the cake itself was perfectly moist and flavorful. The ladies who work there all call you "hun" and they make you feel as if you have been visiting them for years.
Four blocks from my house, and I'm so happy for that. Started coming for the coffee cakes, which are just so darned good. About 14 to choose from, too. The frosted sugar cookies are about the best I've had. Designs change for various holidays, but the quality is always good. The other cookies are very good as well.
Doughnuts are heaven. If you're in line at the Dunkin' on Roosevelt, instead of here, it must be monday, the day OPB is closed. No other excuse.
Cakes are good, though I'm not a fan of buttercream frosting. I haven't tried the breads, as I still think of this as my go-to pastry place. But I will soon.

A nice place to pick up breakfast. If you want to eat there, though, you get to sit on a BENCH! There was friendly service and good food. Also, they didn't have decaf coffee, which is a minus when I am trying to get breakfast after a night I didn't sleep well. The food is good, I enjoyed my donuts. They were small so I figured I should order 2, but I could only eat one and a half before I felt like puking.
I'm glad we went here, our original plan was to go to Nola's cup to pick up some beignets, but it was packed. But we managed to get my coffee there after we picked up our treats. Its also a great place to go after eating lunch or dinner at a nearby place like the Avenue Ale House, S3, or Lalo's.

A little off the beaten path, and if you drive parking's a bit of a hassle, but where else are you going to get an entire pie for $3?
One of the best bakeries for miles. Best chocolate eclairs. Very good bread. Very good selection.
Featuring butter coffee cakes --is on their labels, haven't tried them yet

I used to come here all the time for a cookie or two for lunch. They always have samples of their coffee cakes, and they are sooooo good. I recommend the apricot.
Not too expensive, great if you want a snack before getting on/after getting off the blue line oak park stop.

This is a great mom-n-pops bakery. You won't find all the chain doughnut regulars, but you'll find some treasures much better than those. My favorite is this doughnut they fill with fresh strawberry chucks. A quality bakery with fresh goods all the time!
I go here a lot because the pastries are so fresh. And in the fall they always have little pumpkin squares I can eat on the way to the train. Also, they have fun cookies descorated for Halloween and other events like the White Sox getting into the World Series.
