Oxnard, CA
Located in the Hilton Garden Inn, but you do not need to go inside the hotel to eat here as it has its own separate entrance.
The hours here are not great only 10:30am-2:00pm
Turkey Panini was cooked well, but it should have been cooked at least 2 minutes more as there were no panini marks on the bread. The quality of the ingredients was excellent.Listed in: Mira Mesa San Diego

Good sandwiches and pretty much the only selection within walking distance to the businesses here. The staff are generally very friendly although there has been some changes recently that isn't all that great but will give them a chance and see how it goes.
Kinda hard to miss with the food selection. -

A great deli with a nice selection of Boar's Head meats and cheeses. The hours of operation (and menu items) have shrunk over time (spring 2011), as this location doesn't attract much drive-by business. The local employees, though, are happy to have this nice lunch option and can occasionally produce a line at the counter. The service is reasonably quick and food is quite good.
The menu is mostly make-your-own deli style, with a few paninis and a salad option (not their best item). They have a grill and can make really nice pastrami and corned beef sandwiches.
My favorites: Pastrami sandwich or the Turkey Panini
No fountain sodas, but they do have a cold case full of canned and bottled sodas and beer license. Small outdoor seating area and an even smaller indoor seating area. They also sell a small selection of craft beers (warm) for takeout. -

I ordered a deli sandwich, it was served on a hamburger bun and I paid a premium compared to other delis in the area. New York would be insulted if they knew what you were serving. Shame Shame

Hands down the best Deli in Carmel Valley, Del Mar or Solana Beach! The Roast Beef panini is so good. The meat is tender the horse radish has a bite!

Carmel Valley, San Diego, CA
Best deli in the area. They use Boars Head meat so you know that is good. It is located in the hotel parking lot and is connected to the hotel. You get a good sized sandwich at a fair price.

A fantastic spot for a relaxing lunch. The turkey wrap was delicious and a perfect size. It was on the high side for cost, but I'd go again if I'm in the area.

This hidden gem is tucked inside the Hilton Garden Inn in Carmel Valley/Torrey Hills. You can build your own sandwich (two meats and cheese) with choice of veggies (pepperoncini, olives!) and fresh baked bread from the best local bakery, Bread & Cie in Hillcrest. The sandwiches are huge with healthy servings of Boar's Head meat!
I've also tried their grilled veggie panini on a baguette. I almost always go for meat. This veggie sandwich (grilled eggplant, squash, bell peppers with pesto sauce) was hearty and savory! For an extra $2, you can make it a combo and try gourmet chips (Pop Chips, not fried or baked) and a large soda.
If you have the time to enjoy your sandwich on location, they have a several outdoor seats and heat lamps. Love this deli! -

Well-said Valerie H. This place is indeed a hidden gem. Finding a good sandwich place is tough in Del Mar/Carmel Valley. Board and Brew in Del Mar is also very good, but the two are very different.
This is a Boar's Head deli, which allows you to create your own sandwich, piling on multiple cheeses/meats/veggies, or you can pick from a number of their delicious paninis, wraps, salads, and sandwiches. You can add chips, a drink, and sit out on their umbrella-covered patio for about the same price as grabbing Subway. Try it. It's good. -

Awesome! This is the closest thing I've found to a real NY deli in the area. They serve quality Boar's Head meats and they pile it on. The amount of meat they give you is key difference between here and the typical SD deli. In SD, delis love to pile on lettuce, tomato and mayo, but give you one slice of meat. This place does the opposite. The price is right too. $6 for a quality sandwich. Most places around here charge closer to $8 for a lower quality product.
Another benefit: tons of parking. Its not in some over-crowded strip mall filled with soccer moms driving SUVs - which is a welcome change in Carmel Valley. -

I happened to be in town and staying at the Hilton. This has to be one of the best deli's in San Diego area. Good crusty bread with fresh meat is the way it should be served. And the pickles were cool and crisp. I recommend a trip "out of the way" to eat here.
