    1) I knew it! The doggies were innocent all along. ...It was the CATS.

    2) "Without the NUTS" - is my newly acquired phrase that I shall repeatedly use at restaurants.

    3) RAGWEED is my worst enemy.

    4) I guess I'm only "mentally" allergic to ROACHES.

    5) Sickness after eating CHOCOLATE...is often times a tolerable trade-off.

    6) Bye-bye, CODFISH and PERCH...I'll be getting my omega-3 and DHA from the other folks in the sea.

    7) Time to hire a maid. I'm medically prohibited from nearing DUST MITES.

See what a 30-min skin test can unveil? Get tested now, so we can all compare our lists of new discoveries...and perhaps save a life by becoming aware of the hidden dangers called allergens.

The entire staff here is always professional and friendly and they strive to get you in and out as quickly as possible. I went in for treatment for allergies to a cat I inherited from an Uncle who passed away. Little did I know that I also had food allergies, which was the cause of the intestinal issues I had been experiencing for years - who knew! I thought I was just lactose intolerant but unwilling to give up cheese so I stubbornly suffered. 6 months of avoiding the foods I was allergic to and my belly has never felt better.

And while I didn't need to use it, they have a CT scanner on site - I wish I had gone to them instead of my previous doctor when I needed sinus surgery and had to take time off work to go to the hospital for scans.

They are also very good with calling in prescriptions and refills without you having to make an appointment. I highly recommend Dr. Nejat and his team.

Have you ever gone to the doctor and WANTED them to tell you that there's something wrong with you? I mean, maybe not if you're going to a cardiologist or a butt doctor...I digress.

I really, really, really wanted to know that I was allergic to SOMETHING, anything, even if it was my husband. I'd still keep him around....I guess.

If anyone told me that I'd have this many boogers when I moved to New York, I never would've come. But alas, here I am and I've been sniffling and sneezing ever since. My symptoms have been at an all-time high lately, so after the recommendation of 2 friends I mad an appointment at NY Allergy & Sinus Center. I was able to make an appointment for the next day. That has never happened to me before. Usually it goes like this:

Me: [104 fever, bleeding out of my eyeballs, my left leg has fallen off]:
Hi, I'd like to make an appointment.

Receptionist: Okay, I have an opening in 4010 at 9:45am

I secured my time slot and arrived a few minutes early to fill out paperwork. A few minutes later I talked to a real, live doctor to discuss my symptoms. Dr Nejat knows his shenanigans and has a great sense of humor, which is good when you're dealing with wheezing + sneezing.

Then I went through a scratch test, a sinus scan, two different breathing tests and after 2 hours they still couldn't find a whole lot goin on, so they recommended that I come back to partake in a more potent allergy test.

The assistant administering the test was super friendly, which helped a lot seeing as she was poking me with 22 different allergens that all produced a severe allergic reaction. She and I are like bff's now.

I went back the following week for follow-up testing, which showed that I'm allergic to just about everything but my husband (as long as he's not wearing a down coat) and my own shadow.

The good news is that I'm not a mental case-I am actually allergic to tons of stuff.

The bad news: I'm allergic to tons of stuff, but allergy shots shall commence and I will be spending a lot more QT at NYASC

Dr. Nejat's office is accommodating (same day appointments), staff is courteous and you walk out knowing what you're allergic to and with meds to immediately soothe the symptoms! I definitely recommend!!!

I was the kid growing up who was practically allergic to everything. At one point, my dad even talked to my 1st grade teacher to keep me away from chalk. Chalk! That's how ridiculous it got. I was yelled at for every thing I ate that I wasn't supposed to and I've only had one good year of self control. That year resulted in rapid weight loss. I ate nothing. Nothing fun at least.

In addition to my chalk, egg, soy sauce, orange, lemon and lime allergies, I began to think I was allergic to wheat. I became a bit of a mental case about it and wanted to find out once and for all, medically, what I was allergic to and what I really should avoid. I found Dr. Nejat at the New York Allergy & Sinus Center through my medical provider and was able to make my appointments through an online service with ease.

The NYASC is quite a busy place even at 5 PM in the evening. As a rule, first time patients are not allowed to come in at 5:30 PM. The good thing is that after your first visit, timing works very well with work schedules. A typical visit lasts about 45 minutes and the staff is kind, patient and thorough. They really make you feel comfortable at the NYASC.

I was poked 72 times with various allergens, blew into a tube to test for asthma, had my vitals checked out, answered a million questions about my lifestyle habits, and sat in a room with a bunch of other people (sleeves rolled up and arms out) while we all watched the bubbles pop up on our prick marks. We were all blowing on our arms and felt itchy. I was sure I was allergic to everything from food to chemicals and nature. Alas, the results were read and I am only allergic to grass weed. Yippee! I can now eat everything I've been deprived of! Boo hoo. No more rolling in the grass at Central Park this Spring.

Dr. Nejat is laid back and really nice. He's gentle and is dedicated to getting to the root of your problem. On one of my visits, he gave me two jars of lotion for my skin. I asked him what was in it and he said lots of good stuff from jojoba to beta carotene. It's supposed to be really good for the skin and could be used daily. His only warning was not to over apply it as it tends to turn him a little "oompa loompa" if he uses it more than twice a day.

I was satisfied with my visits to the NY Allergy & Sinus Center. It's great if you have issues with food allergies, hay fever, asthma, sinus problems, etc. And BTW, the needle pricks don't hurt at all.

Dr. Nejat is thorough, spends his time to ask questions, cares, goes the extra mile to diagnosis and treat.  Bravo to one of the best Dr.'s I've ever met, hands down.

I made an appointment with NY Allergy & Sinus to get tested after a consistent 2 months of not being able to breathe (I was so bunged up the Neti Pot didn't even work!). I didn't think I could keep blaming my troubles on a cold, and was becoming a little too friendly with my Afrin bottle. So, after hitting up Yelp, I found this place and off I went! I was able to hop online, pick a date/time and book it in one fell swoop for the next day - which was pretty awesome in my book. The center itself is nice and clean and if it's your first time, they encourage you to schedule a meet and greet so they can run through some tests. And tests they did. I was blowing into tubes, getting knicked and pricked left and right and filling out 8 page forms. But the whole thing is pretty neat. You get to see what really sends your senses in a tizzy (fall pollen, ragweed and dust mites for moi) and the lovely Toni thinks that I'm more allergic than the premlim tests showed, so I'm back again for some more testing. But at least you know they're thorough and hopefully I'll know very soon what exactly causes me to wheeze and sneeze so I can nip that sucker in the bud!
