4 reviews for Numero Uno Pizza
This place is the bomb. After going to Kress and we were hungry. We sat down and ordered a whole pizza with pepperoni, sausage and mushrooms. We also ordered mozarella sticks. Those are the bomb.
We got our food and were finished in about half an hour. The food was great. The total came out to be about $30. I would come here again. The crust had some sweet taste too it. It was awesome.
Numero Uno? More like Numero Cien. I have never been so disappointed with a pizza in my life. I called for a delivery of a large pizza called "The Works" and a 2-liter Pepsi. The total was $29.38, which surprised me, but I expected it to be amazing pizza for that ridiculous price. The guy who worked there said it would take 25-30 minutes to arrive, what it takes for a typical delivery of a pizza. I live about 5 minutes from the restaurant, yet it took them 55 minutes to deliver the pizza. I had to actually call after 50 minutes to make sure they hadn't forgotten it, which I have never had to do with a pizza delivery before.
Finally, my pizza arrived and the delivery guy was indifferent and did not apologize for being late, so I decided not to tip him. I opened the pizza box to find that the "large" pizza was the size of a medium pizza. It was just warm, and the crust was soggy. It barely had any meat on it, but had copious amounts of olives. The ingredients were very low quality.
Overall, a pizza I paid almost $30 for, was really worth about $10 or perhaps even less. Gross Pizza Hut is better than this place.
FYI this is the new location of the Numero Uno that used to be at across the street from Hollywood High School at 1618 N Highland Ave. Keep your eyes peeled when looking for it while driving down Hollywood Blvd. It has a huge Elvis statute in front of it.
I love this place. At times I will come up from Long Beach just to go to this Numero Uno because I absolutely love the pizza and the bread puffs!
They have lunch specials ranging from a personal pan (thick crust) +salad for $5.99 to a meatball sandwich + salad for like a buck more. The menu prices are a bit expensive for other items, but they are worth it. I have also gotten the chicken parmigiana and though it may not look like a lot of food it sure fills you up.
The BEST thing about this place is the man that looks like Vincent Price (I think he owns it or something because he's always working). He is totally nice!
**If going to park on the street in front MAKE SURE YOU HAVE CHANGE OR A CREDIT CARD! The new electronic meters suck and do not take dollar bills. It is very hard to ask the shops for quarters as they tend to get wiped out quickly for people asking for meter change***
I love the Pizza! I ordered delivery and I was amazed that the pizza was going to be so good!!!!!!
