...So my GF is from the NY area and I grew up around here. All I hear out of her mouth is "no one knows how to make pizza right here."  When we went to visit her family back east, I definitely see the difference. While I don't agree that Washington "doesn't know how to make pizza," I love the different taste of the NY style pizza. Hell, I love Lou Malnati's Chicago style pizza too but I'm not going to knock down other pizzas just because that style rocks also.

Anyways, (sorry about the tangent) we both agree this is THEE one and only place we have found so far that truly tastes like we are back in NY. I suggest the cheese pizza, no toppings (and I love toppings). I have learned to appreciate a well balanced thin crust pizza that doesn't need anything else. The cannoli is also insanely good, actually better than what I have had in NY!

This is a strictly takeout place, they have like two tables and a counter. Remember CASH ONLY and they close kind of early (like 8 or 9pm). The place is run by an old couple who are eccentric to say the least. They are good personalities for the most part, I felt the husband was a little abrasive though for what he says to complete strangers (and paying customers). One night I called in an order and he agreed to stay open past normal hours for me to pick it up, so I guess that evens out his karma for now.

You really won't find anything more authentic for NY pizza in Washington (if you have please send me a message) so please give this place a shot.

What can you say about this place that hasn't already been said before? The pizza is amazing. I was born and raised in New York and I can easily say that this is the closest I've come to the real deal.

I don't want to hear anyone saying that they are rude, pizza nazis or anything like that. Are they obnoxious and hard to understand? Perhaps. But strike up a conversation with Tony or Relita and they will be your new best friends. They will tell you stories all night and may even share some of their secret stash of goodies.

Bring lots of cash (no credit cards accepted) as you will want to try pizza, cannolli and an egg cream. I love it and you will too. And if you don't... you're not worthy.

I was excited that I was going to finally be able to try authentic New York style pizza. Wow, never seen so much pepperoni on one pizza. It was really good. The sauce has a kick to it and I think there is a bit of rosemary, too. They even stayed a half hour past closing for my brother to pick it up. That was cool. (Yes, I still use the word cool. I'm old so sue me.) Really looking forward to trying their canneloni and white pizza. I can tell I'm gonna get hooked on the place. Good thing it's close by.

I don't get out here as much as I would like but listen folks~it's real GOOD! I complained about not finding good cheese and Relita offered to give me a free chunk next time I went in. New Yorker's gotta stick together. It's like THAT!

While New Yorkers have a reputation for being rude and obscene by those outside of New York, real New Yorkers are anything but.  I found in my stint living in the Lower East Side that in nearly every neighborhood, New Yorkers were kind, friendly, and willing to help you get where you're going.  And if you go into a restaurant, expect them to talk you up like the real person you are.

It is VERY difficult to find real New York pizza in the Seattle area -- nearly impossible, really.  Well, here it is.  And it is REALLY good!

The older couple who run this joint are Tony, a native Sicilian, and his wife, Relita, originally from Queens.  Relita and I talked up a storm about New York and the economy and Obama, with a smattering of sweet stories she had to tell in between.  This alone, is enough to make me a fan.

The place might be small, in kind of a little shack of a house, but it has huge character -- soooo New York.  There are homemade signs advertising pizzas and pasta dinners, salads and antipasti, sandwiches, calzones, and homemade cannoli (this is supposed to be exceptional, and I believe it, but didn't try it this time).

Ok, so I don't know why it's so hard to mimic a New York Style pizza, but after talking to Relita, I think I understand why.  It's in the dough (New York is famous for its great breads and bagels, after all), and it's in the cheese.  Also, all of the ingredients are quality, not like the "rabbit pellet" sausage you find on "other" pizzas (her words, haha!).  The cheese is ordered from New York, and I can see why -- the ricotta is heavenly rich, and the mozzarella, well let's just say it's not that gummy tasteless stuff you find with some of the competition.

Relita takes great pride in their "white pizza" -- it's just cheese, without sauce.  And she swears by it.  Apparently, her husband was among the originators of New York-style "white" pizza in the 1970's, which has since become a popular choice in New York today.  To have a good white pizza, quality cheese is the key, and that I can avow they do have.

But I do like red sauce, so instead, I ordered a calzone.  I was NOT dissappointed.  It's HUGE, the bread is exceptional, and it was filled with lovely slices of sausage, garlic sauteed mushrooms, along with that amazing mozzarella and ricotta cheese, a little bit of red sauce, and wham!  I'm transported straight back to a New York pizzaria.  It's amazing how a distinctive flavor and smell can connect so strongly to memories since forgotten, only to bring them back alive in full force again.

Oh, and I haven't had an authentic New York egg cream (kind of a specialized Italian soda of sorts) in years. Oh yes, it's here.  Oh my gosh, this place is rough around the edges, but I'm in love.

There are some things to be aware of --  they do not take credit or debit cards (security concerns them), they do not deliver (take out is ok), and they are closed Sunday and Monday.  The prices are a bit higher than average, and can add up quickly if you order lots of toppings, but their prices are really very reasonable for a high quality pizza as good as this.

I don't have any surviving grandmothers anymore, and since I can't have them back, I wish Relita would be mine.  But I guess as long as I visit her little shop in Snohomish, I feel like she already is.

Stumbled across this place on my way back from a massage in clearview.  Walked in and I felt i was in NY.  Owners wife had the accent.  Planned on ordering and taking on the road with me but she made me sit and talk with her and glad I did.  Pizza was amazing and had a wonderful experience talking with her.  She also gave me a sample of the canoli and WOW!  Really recommend the trip to try it out.

Driving by: Don't blink...you'll miss it. The place is small and set back off the road a bit. Looks like not much more than a small white shack, which is mostly what it is.

Walking in: You're hit full on with the most wonderful smell of pizza, sauce, etc., all made from top quality fresh ingredients. There's usually a supply of homemade crafts and paintings on hand, made by the wife of the husband and wife team who own and operate the place.

Service: The owners are friendly and colorful. Tony is a wonderful character who will treat you like royalty if you let him. The two of them are a young 70'ish, so there's no delivery. You want a pie, you come get it.

Food: Having grown up on the west coast, I'd often heard people from the east complain that they couldn't get pizza here in the west. I could never understand what they were talking about. Then, several years ago, I took a trip to NY. I ate the pizza. They were all correct. You can get pizza on the west coast, but you can't (or couldn't) get NY pizza. Now you can. The pizza here is on handmade dough, the cheeses and meats are the best available. I'm pretty sure Tony makes his own sauce from scratch, which is amazing. I can't say enough good things about the food. Try the 'white pizza' (lots of ricotta). Got friends? Get the antipasto too.

WARNING: Traditionally, NY pizza comes in two kinds, cheese or cheese and pepperoni. You can get other things here, but DO NOT ask for pineapple. You will be told no. That said, if you're a regular and Tony likes you, you may get a bite of his special fresh pineapple to enjoy while you wait for you order.

Overall: If you've never had true NY pizza and you want to try it, or you're from the east and you think you can't get pizza here...try this. It's the best. Yet another place that I wish I could give more than 5 stars to.

Based ONLY on the pizza, I give this place 4 stars.  I'm not going to knock off stars for bizarre atmosphere, even though some would probably warrant doing so.

Here's the deal: the pizza tastes great.  I am an East Coast transplant and am part of pizza-loving family.  We're pizza snobs, and damn proud of it.  #1 NY Pizza's pies are straight forward and full of cheesy goodness.  They're pretty garlicy too, which is always a plus in my book.  The pepperoni pizza is yummy and a little different than most places because they just lay slices of pepperoni on top of the hot, gooey cheese.  I so completely agree with the "no pineapple on pizza" philosophy of this joint--its nice to have other pizza purists on the west coast.

The atmosphere is rough.  The owner and his wife are very colorful.  I've been there when they were yelling at each other about Italian sausage one day.  Their little dog was wandering around the "seating area" and a dead xmas wreath was hanging over the counter (it was August at the time).

Go get your pizza and take it home to enjoy (if you live close by) or go have a pizza picnic someplace else.  Oh, and make sure you have cash on you--no credit cards!

Perhaps it's because I don't like NY style pizza, but I wasn't terribly impressed with this pizza place. It's good - and my parents and in-laws both loved it. The place has attitude - think Seinfeld Pizza Nazi attitude. Don't ask for too many toppings, don't mess with the choices, and don't harass the cook. It's fun, but not my favorite pizza.

New York style pizza at it's best you even get the east coast attitude. Very straight forward. We had the pepperoni and it was great from the crust to the sauce to the pepperoni. Cash only, no B.S. just great pizza and don't forget the canoles!
