I just discovered this place in January, though I have been driving past on the way to and from work for about three years.  The Prosciutto and Provolone sandwich is fantastic.  I've had it three or four times now and it has been consistent and delicious every time.  I have also eaten the Italian Beef and the Combo sandwiches - which are only available on Thursday/Friday.  Also worth the trip out of the city for.  Everyone does Italian beef a little differently, and this one is top five.  The home made sausage is out of this world.  My favorite sandwich though has to be the Dante's Inferno.  Check it out.  They also serve pasta salads, pizza, panzerotti's and arancini's, and a whole host of italian dry goods.  The counter staff is friendly, and one of the owners used to be a pro wrestler!

**Note: The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars was because of the pizza.  The pizza is just ok.  In a city like Chicago that is known for its pizza... well, try it out for yourself.   Im just sayin, Ive had better pizza.

I have been going to Nottoli & Son for over 10 years.  Their specialty is Italian Sausage, and they make them fresh, on-site and in several varieties;  from garlic, to sweet, to spicy, to their XXX hot.  All are great and available fresh from the counter or, more recently, vacuum-packed and frozen in 1 lb wheels.

They also sell homemade frozen lasagna, meatballs, and other awesomeness in their stand-up freezer.

The deli counter has a great selection of Italian deli meats and cheeses, olives, stromboli, aranchini, focaccia, calzone, etc.  At lunchtime, they do made-to-order subs on Italian bread (that's delivered daily).

They have an entire endcap in front stocked with House Label giardiniera (hot and mild), olive spread, sport peppers, etc.

The family still runs the shop and you can often find dad and son on-site.

My family moved to the West Coast a few years back and I have to regularly express-ship frozen sausages so they can get their fix.

This place has that special feeling like its been in the area for a long time.  Service is above-average, and everything is very affordable.  Their sausage, which is their main draw, runs for about $2.79 lb.  Along with prepared frozen meals, they have a small grocery area with a working deli.  They also make delicious foot-long panzerottis which are a bargain at $2.29.  I'll definitely be going back.

This review is based on a Hot Beef Sandwich...

I went here looking to get the Italian Sausage Sandwich.  They were all out of the sandwich. I plan to go back and try to get the Sausage sandwich.

The beef sandwich was just ok. The beef wasn't as tender as other Italian beef locations thoughout Chicago.  The juice was very mild with a hint of flavors.

I also had them put mild giardiniera on the sandwich.  It had no heat to it. I will try the hot giardiniera next time.

Again,  I will be going back for the Italian Sausage Sandwich and will update this review.

They also have a store with a deli in the same location.  The meats and sausages all look to be high quality.  The people were very nice.

The first thing you should do is take a number for any service. It's a fair system so everyone gets taken care of in order.
