Wow, what can I say. These guys really know what they are doing. I was extreamly pleased with the results. My wife, even more so. I couldn't have asked for more. The service was unreal.

I just placed an order over the phone with Not Just Flowers because a coworker's parent just passed. I explicitly said - NO, Carnations, please! - Thanks to Sex in the City. They told me, they don't even carry those flowers in stock.
All I had to tell them was the occasion, how much I wanted to spend, and when I want the flowers to be delivered... and they'll take care of the rest.
I received a call later that week from my coworker, she said the flowers were beautiful and thanked me for thinking of her.
Thanks NOT JUST FLOWERS! Sometimes in life, you just need to send a bouquet instead of attempting to articulate your feelings.
I don't like leaving "not so great" reviews but I want to share this:
I am convinced that they do a great job but when I was there to talk about wedding flowers I told them what our budget was (lower than what they are used to, I guess). We talked, we looked through books, he was very nice, he told me to talk to the florist and then in the end he said "when you talk to her you might want to mention that your budget is flexible to make the job interesting to her". Hmh. Maybe I come back some day with more money...
I got beautiful flowers for even less then my budget just down the street! Thanks Urban Flowers...
So I got an e mail response tonight - Not only did they not receive my e mail they probably never got the order from "Tony"
In the e mail they said they were arranging for a long time customer of the store that died - OK I understand - and a couple weddings too - Yea I get that too - At least call the customer and tell them that you are still interested in their business - They also don't like being called "snobs" which they truly are - my wedding wasn't good enough for you anyway
Their employee "Tony" failed to notify me The day that I was waiting for a return call THEY WERE ON VACATION (copied and pasted from the e mail) "We were also out of town from the 26th of October on our first vacation/ days off since April."
October 26th was 10 days from when I walked in the store and said I want you to do my flowers from my wedding.
I give them credit for the apology. But every contact with them sounds like a bunch of excuses. Thats why I went to urban flowers was in 10 minutes I had my bouquet, 5 boutonnieres , 2 corsages, and 3 arrangements for my girls. that is all that I needed.
What can I say, I interact with alot of people politically, I am an election day inspector. and assist on many campaigns too and If I were to simply ignore a voter, or ignore one of my volunteers I would not get that person back. Perhaps I would not even be an inspector if that happened.

The owner of this place is very nice, however the service has really took bad turn. You walk in there texting and wont look up till there done or on the phone, you walk buy and most the time besides the owners they dont smile nor say hello.
Not what it used to be and for the price they really need to get it back we wont go in there just because of staff and flowers dont seem to last as long as other places for some reason.

Spencer made a fantastic floral arrangement for me that looked like a piece of art and smelled like dessert. The time and creativity and attentiveness to perfection were all evident once I picked up my bouquet. The freshness and exoticness of the flowers and originality of the design really made my bouquet look like a work of art. I will definitely be back here every week, and will look no farther than Not Just Flowers for my wedding day.
Lisa did the flowers for my wedding in September 09 and they were truly remarkable. I really could not have envisioned better, more unique floral arrangements and bouquets. Lisa was also a sheer joy to work with. A couple days before my wedding I had a change of heart about the color of the calla lilies we were going to go with. Lisa met with me that day , went over other color options and graciously changed my order. I couldn't be happier with the service or the final product. I wholeheartedly recommend them to any couple wanting beautiful and memorable floral arrangements at their wedding.
The first bouqet left a lot to be desired, but the shop came back with something very nice. The end result was a beautiful birthday bouqet that surpassed my expectations.
Lisa designed my bridal bouquet, toss bouquet, BM flowers, GM boutonnieres, family corsages, and my birdcage gift holder. Everything we received the morning of the wedding was cute, fun, and elegant. Just as we had requested! Lisa was on top of all of our details the whole process and really exceeded my expectations. The flowers were within budget and very affordable. I couldn't be happier with the results!!

Seriously, Lisa did my wedding flowers - bouquets to die for, and floral arrangements that I haven't stopped hearing about since the event. She basically provided flowers that all but out-shined my dress!

Tony put together two beautiful thank you arrangements for me to give to the lovely people who threw my wedding shower. Not Just Flowers is also doing my wedding in October, so this was my chance to get a sneak peak, too. I had lots of little requests, too, and he was very accommodating.
The flowers were gorgeous-- two stunning arrangements of hydrangeas, pink roses and chartreuse mums. As the hosts carried the flowers out, people stopped and asked where they were from. Thank you! I can't wait to see what my wedding flowers look like!

Lisa has to be the most easy going vendor I met during the wedding planning process. So easy going you might be tempted to get a little nervous, but boy does she deliver. When I saw the beautiful arrangements at the ceremony location, I was speechless. She made beautiful (and huge) pomanders to hang off the chairs. I later reused these for my centerpieces and they worked great!
She made a breathtaking arrangements of orchids and garden roses for the altar- simple and elegant, exactly as I'd asked. The colors of the flowers truly popped against the ivory linens - she did a great job picking out *just* the right shade of red that I was looking for.
Lisa was also really flexible to work with. She didn't have a problem with me sourcing my own vases to save a little money, and she even threw in a tall vase from her own collection when she discovered that one of mine had broken when the mfr. had shipped it out. Now that's great service :)
Finally, they are very reasonably priced and will work with you no matter what your budget.

I'm not very knowledgeable in regards to different types of flowers, but it didn't matter because Lisa was fantastic at explaining what everything would look like! She totally worked within our budget and made our flowers look AMAZING!!
Everyone at our wedding was complimenting us on the centerpieces and the bouquets -- all of it. They also delivered the flowers earlier than expected on the actual day which worked out wonderfully! I really couldn't have asked for a better flower shop for one of the most important days of my life.
This is definitely the start of my monogamous flower relationship with Not Just Flowers! It was all so perfect -- there is no need to go anywhere else!!
I will keep this short and simple. The flowers are over priced and they die way too fast. There is a better shop right up the street with alot more to choose from!
I'm not going to lie. My usual go-to florist is Church St. Flowers. I didn't realized they were closed on Sundays, so I stopped by Not Just Flowers to pick up a bouquet for a graduation. I've passed by this place plenty of times and have always awed at the flowers while I stood waiting for friends to arrive at weekday happy hours in the castro. Plus, they have a glowing five star review on yelp! Thanks, handy dandy iphone app.
Anyway, I don't buy flowers much, but this is how it's always been for me. This formula has worked great elsewhere.
1) Tell florist what the bouquet is for. (birthday, graduation, etc.)
2) Tell florist who you're giving it to. (girlfriend, friend, sister, mother, etc.)
3) Tell them what you want and/or don't want. (roses//fun colors/springtime flowers, etc.)
4) Name your price range. (Not over $XX; around $XX-$XX, etc.)
5) Florist magically arranges a beautiful bouquet. More details given if necessary.
5a) Florist may ask if you like how the bouquet is progressing.
5b) You say, "i love it so far" or "...maybe not blooming artichoke."
6) Pay and leave.
So it was Sunday morning. My friends and I were still in our Saturday night clothes and may/may not reek of alcohol from the pre-graduation celebration. Despite our appearance and our scent, we were courteous and coherent.
Here's how it went (correspondingly to the steps above):
1) This bouquet is for a graduation.
2) This is for our male friend graduating from dental school.
3) Bright and flashy; attention-grabbing; looks good in pictures.
4) Around $40.
5) .
5) ...
5) ... ....
MAGICAL STEP #5 NEVER HAPPENED. It was replaced with PEONIES, PEONIES, PEONIES. We're okay with peonies. I just don't want a bouquet of ALL peonies. When I asked if they can be part of an overall arrangement (meaning "I want more flowers and I want more flowers other than peonies). The florist dude tells me he can add more peonies and some green leaves to it. No...that's not what I meant. And i'm too tired on this Sunday morning to keep explaining to the dude what it is that I want. Florist dude is getting impatient and called us indecisive. Then he finally came to the realization that maybe we just weren't all that fond of the peonies idea. He has offered no other options for us even up to this point.
I've had enough and decided to take matters into my own hands. I ARRANGED MY OWN BOUQUET. And it was beautiful, no thanks to florist guy working on that fateful Sunday morning. In the end, we did add some peonies in our bunch to stroke his ego...though we could have probably done without.
6) Pay and leave. And I couldn't get out of there any sooner.
I have no doubts that they do great things with flowers from the photos here and from seeing all the pretty flowers whenever I walk down 18th. I am just disappointed that I hadn't receive the same service of such high caliber from this one employee as some of the other yelpers have experienced here at Not Just Flowers.
Stunning! I had a very tight budget and specific texture/color story in mind and they managed to pull together both a beautiful boutonniere and bridal bouquet within two hours! Magic!
props to Gregory for the one-on-one, helpful and thoughtful service on a busy Weds afternoon. His suggestions and realistic breakdown of cost, color and volume lead me to expect less than I imagined. Not Just Flowers has been receiving compliments at my office all day. I called last week and asked for "a simple arrangement with some white flowers, medium sized and stated what I wanted to spend." The arrangement that arrived is above and beyond what I ever expected. OMG.
I highly recommend using NJF to send flowers to clients or friends. Their delivery rates are reasonable and you will be amazed with arrangement!
During the Valentine's Day rush, every florist is bound to make a mistake or two. You just always hope that you won't be the one it happens to.
I was the one it happened to.
When my girlfriend got home from work and it became clear that she didn't receive the delivery I had paid for, I was furious. After calling Not Just Flowers, they responded immediately in a way that was incredible.
Andrei (who was incredibly helpful when he helped me pick out the arrangement on the day I placed my order) was at my house within minutes with the original bouquet and an apology bouquet that was stunningly beautiful. He was extremely apologetic and informed me that they would also be refunding my money.
Wow. That is amazing customer service.
Not only is the customer service first class, but they offer an incredible variety of flowers to choose from, and everything is exceptionally fresh as well.
I will never go anywhere else for flowers.
Originally, I gave "Not Just Flowers" a low rating (ONE STAR), because I experienced some incredibly poor customer service over the phone and in person.
In this economy, it is difficult to support local small business owners when their employees don't really make an effort to be likeable. If I am going to pay more, then I would expect better service OR a better product (I don't have to have both). I had two bad experiences with the employees at "Not Just Flowers" and posted my experiences on Yelp.
I have to give the owners (Andrei & Lisa) a great deal of credit for contacting me, apologizing on behalf of their employees, and attempting to rectify the situation. Additionally, they let me know that if any of their employees were rude or brusque with me again, I should contact them immediately. Therefore, I have changed my rating to A-OK (THREE STARS) and I look forward to placing my next order with them.
Additionally, I learned my lesson. If you are a customer, don't be a dick. However, if you are treated poorly, document your concerns and communicate them with the business owner. You may be pleasantly surprised with the results!

They totally put up with me. They weren't too expensive, they were priced pretty well for the quality of flowers they had.

Well, anyways, I bought A flower and then went to Badlands (next door) and gave it to my gf. She liked it. :) I would definitely come back here (sober) again, because it's not just flowers....it's Beautiful flowers!

I hired Not Just Flowers to do the floral decor for my Jan 24, 2009 wedding. Lisa helped me get the look that I wanted and stayed within my budget. I was able to have the wedding of my dreams because of all their great advice (Lisa gave me great tips on how to decorate the flower girls hair, color scheme, etc.) . Also, she was very helpful in telling me what I should spend $ on, and what was superfluous. I appreciate her honesty, professionalism, and all her support during the wedding planning stage. I was planning my SF wedding from Washington DC and I was surprised by how attentive Lisa and the staff were to all my inquiries via phone or email. You guys are amazing! It's like being in a candy store, but with flowers instead!
Although Andrei was busy finishing up another bouquet, he was eager to put it down to assist me. He asked me for a price point, the colors I'd like.. and in 15 minutes, he had created a beautiful arrangement for my mom. If I had extra money laying around every week, I'd spend it here purchasing flowers for my apartment. I'm looking forward to the next occasion I'll need flowers.

My fiance and I met with Lisa at her shop on a Saturday and we got down to business. You could tell SHE KNOWS WEDDINGS and that gave us a lot of confidence that we were taken care.
During this wedding planning process, I have to say that I am relieved there are businesses out there like Not Just Flowers where they do this all the time and can keep things under control.

I can't say enough nice things about this place! I wholeheartedly recommend them; Gregory's a sweet guy, and the staff have twice now bent over backwards to make sure that flowers got to the right recipients on time. Not to mention that the flowers have ALWAYS been PHENOMENAL. Kudos...
I am bitch when it comes to flowers!
Can I just tell you how amazing the flowers sitting on my desk are? They are full of Dahlia and Lilies and to round it out autumn maple leaves (how appropriate since some wonderful man from Canada sent them to me). I am so happy today. I am so hard to please when it comes to flowers and if this bunch put a smile on my face I guarantee you will smile too!
This is my favorite shop in the hood. Can I explain why? Most definitely! Admittedly, I'm somewhat biased because back in 1999 I lived in the city with my bf (a floral/event designer) and he used to recommend this shop.
The other reasons are simple. Every time I've come here the service has been excellent... the flowers have been superb... and the arrangements they've whipped up with those flowers have looked extraordinary. Of course the last one partially is the result of my taste in flowers according to the people working here, but they always find just the right additions to perfect my the arrangement.
I realize this shop is a little more expensive than some in the area and I probably don't use them for everyday flowers as much, but when I need something that will WOW the recipient... I come here. They are a small shop, but it's a great selection... once the owner learned that I used to do a little bit of this and that with flowers in my younger years (nothing more than amateur of course), he talked a little shop with me and was even more sweet than before.
You can even ask him to let you know when he orders flowers that are in season and he'll reserve some for you. He offered to do this for me once for chocolate cosmos, but I'm so shy to take advantage of anyone's kindness that I didn't call him. I know... I'm overly bashful, but it's just me. You can really trust the staff here to do an excellent job whether it's a small job or something larger... party or wedding... they have excellent taste.
You can also just walk in and have them arrange something for your date on the fly and be assured that it'll be something that will put you in his/her good graces. Of course, I'm old school... I like to pick everything myself.. Oh how I love to hear them say that I've found their best pieces :)...makes me realize that the time I spent with my first boyfriend was good for something after all.
I used Not Just Flowers for my wedding and loved what they did. Initially, I did not have a very definitive idea of what I wanted flower-wise, but Lisa asked all the right questions and worked with me to narrow down the look I was going for. Their prices were very reasonable, much less expensive than another florist who quoted me for flowers that would not have been nearly as creative.
I highly recommend them for weddings!!
This place has great flower arrangements and good service. They are a bit on the pricey side, though.
I'm away on business...I had to rely on Yelp for this...WOW did these guys come through!!! Called at 9am the flowers were delivered at 12:30...30 miles away. The arrangement was awesome. My GF loved it and the pictures looked great.

Not Just Flowers blew me away last Saturday with the drop-dead gorgeous, modern, exuberant arrangements they put together for our wedding. Somehow, Lisa translated my stream of contradictory adjectives into a coherent vision and created absolute floral magic!
All of our guests commented on the flowers, from the diego rivera-inspired calla bouquet, understated and wrapped with wire, to the stunning altar arrangements and the playful centerpieces. I may be biased, but I think they blew every other wedding flowers I've ever seen out of the water, and our budget was TINY. If you're planning a Bay Area wedding and want something unusual, something gorgeous, and something that will look like you splurged, hire these people. They will knock your socks off!
Scenario: Flowers for a friend.
Product: The flowers are healhy, colorful and seem to last a long time. The price is reasonable, though not the best deal you'll find I'm guessing. I got a small bunch for just under $30. They have a lot of plants and flowers I've never seen before. This one flower was wavy, like the edge of a lasagna noodle. How cool is that?!
Service: Andre gave me great service! He asked what my budget was right away so I wouldn't feel pressured or anything. He did a good job sticking to it too. He also asked what the occassion was and, as it turns out, was able to make something that had special meaning. I'd say the service here is top notch.
Atmosphere: The shop is small but clean and comfortable. There are so many colors and shapes to look at.
Uniquity: Great location on 18th and Castro. Also, that's right across from BoA if you need some more cash, though they accept plastic. I like the little "you are here" doormat they have. The service was unbeatable.
Holy moly!! Not Just Flowers is fantastic! Amazing! Stupendous! Marvelous! Why didn't anyone tell about this godsend before?! Geeesh! I don't think I can bring myself to go to any other flower shops in San Francisco after going to see Andrei. The flowers are fresh, beautiful, and some are rather rare. The prices are very reasonable. The service is superb. Yes, I said superb. I love the fact that Not Just Flowers likes to work with the flowers they prefer, not just what's in season. They get flowers from all over the world, which makes their stock have a lot of range.
So, here's how it all happened. I needed a flower arrangement for a close friend who was in the hospital. The friend is a guy, so I needed something masculine, but still bright enough to bring joy to a hospital room. The arrangement Andrei put together for me was absolutely breathtaking. He knew just what to use and kept it completely in my budget. From dark maroon sunflowers to mango colored calla lilies, it was probably the most beautiful arrangement I have seen in a long long time.
I cannot recommend this place highly enough! Drop what you're doing and go get an arrangement from this wonderful husband and wife team. You will not regret it!
This flower shop puts all of those in my neighborhood to shame. The flower arrangements are gorgeous. Pricey, but worth every penny. The staff is awesome too.
Only in the Castro can you chit chat with your local florist about BDSM and find yourself revealing your safety word. Oh, TMI.....my bad.
This place is amazing! They are the best flower people period. Just had them for my wedding. The guests could not stop talking about how absolutely beautiful the flowers were. If you are getting married there is no other place to go.

I called Urban Flowers first, and spoke to Urbano, the owner. I needed an estimate for floral arrangments for my entire weddings. I needed 8 table arrangements, two bouquets, 12 corsages and boutonniere's and he said it would be about $400.00 and to come in at least two days before the event. I want in three days early, spent over an hour picking out all the flowers, the vases, which he said I had to buy, asked for the total and he saidit was over $600. So I asked him to break it down for me to explain the discrepancy and he had a fit, telling me he was already doing me a big favor because he isn't even supposed to be working today! Also he felt the need to tell me how macho and straight he was, as if I cared. Then he told me and my mom and my sisters to "Just get out". We had just spent a lot of time there, I was really busy with wedding stuff, and I just wanted to work it out, but he refused to even discuss it. When I asked him why, and he said "because of your face, something funny". Finally I just gave up. and my mom stayed to try and calm him down, to no avail. I would NEVER, EVER go back there.
I walked out really upset and walked into NOT JUST FLOWERS only one block away, The couple that own the place are really sweet, they were so helpful, they delivered the flowers and even threw in the vases for free, all for $438. Everything was just perfect. I was thrilled. Thank you so much Not Just Flowers."
Met with Lisa today for a wedding consultation, she was very friendly, easy to talk to and showed us a lot of books and photographs and tried to gather what our exact style was or what we were looking for.
Everyone in the shop seemed very friendly and playful, yet at the same time they were very professional.
The arrangements we saw in the store and saw them selling were gorgeous.
They had a lot of customers coming in and out buying flowers, so it seems like they're pretty popular.
Overall, from our experience so far I'd recommend this shop.
In the Mission, there's a grocer or liquor store on every corner, lest you have to walk more than a dozen feet without being able to purchase something you could consume from the protective cover of a brown paper bag. It's great. Not the case in the Castro and I think I figured out why. Every store front that could be used to sell Colt 45 or jicima or pinatas is instead bursting with beautiful flowers that flow right out onto the sidewalk. There are flower shops everywhere and not the FTD outpost kind. That said, I have only enjoyed the view and the lovely fragrance as I walk by. Until yesterday.
I had *one of those days* yesterday. It seemed to go on forever and by the end of it I was really irritable. A little piece of news that I shared with the Captain during his drive home. While waiting for him to get home so that we could go to dinner I did not become less irritable. When he finally poked his head in the door I was, well, *not in a good place* so when he came around the corner with an armful of absolutely beautiful flowers I broke down crying. They were perfect. A four foot tall arrangement of winter holly branches, calla lilies, red amaryllis and big green banana leaves that Tony, the floral god and petal pusher at "Not Just Flowers" helped him pick out when he told them I wanted it to be Christmas right now.
I loved them every bit as much as the pinata he brought me from Casa Guadalupe.

If you go there when Tony is around you'll feel like in a specila place: he always play the Opera and the smell of flowers is just heaven.

I'll be the first one to admit it, Not Just Flowers is hardly your discount florist. If you are looking for a cheap bouquet to say god-your-food-is-terrible-please-never -invite-me-over-for-dinner-again, try the handful of places over the hill in Noe Vally, they are sure to have just the arrangement for the occasion.
If however you are looking for very best flower shop on this side of Market then Not Just Flowers is definitely your spot. The flowers here are outstanding --- everything is super fresh, the selection is fantastic and they carry a range of exotics and out of season flowers that is unsurpassed.
If you need help creating an arrangement your in luck --the guy that works at this place has an extraordinary eye and can pick you out something perfect for any occasion (barring the god-your-food-is-terrible-please-never -invite-me-over-for-dinner-again scenario of course). As an added bonus -- he is wickedly funny too-- just stop in to say hello and your sure to get a good laugh.
