4 reviews for Norwood Sport Center
This place smells like bowling
Ain't got no bar
Ain't got no pool tables
Nuttin' fancy
Just you and them candlepins
This place makes me want to start smoking a pipe, grow a gut, raise some kin, and take them bowling here.
Cheap plain old bowling, it's about half the cost to bowl here than at them other fancy places ... I reckon that's alright by me.
Coming from the west I have never candlepined before. It was so much fun. The strings were tight and even between various bowlers of differing skill levels. I had so much fun I want to bring candlepin bowling to the northwest.
The sport center itself was dated. LD was right the place hadn't looked like it had changed in 30 years. It was clean though and the staff was friendly helping teaching us how to play a game none of us knew anything about. So much fun if I lived in the area I would be there all the time.

Just a few reasons why I love Norwood Sport Center...
It's candlepin bowling, a uniquely New England sport and one of those things that makes this region very special. Requires a lot more skill than tenpins and makes more noise too. For me, candlepins IS bowling and anything else is a bastardization.
It's a trip back in time. This place isn't too dressed up and some of the equipment is pretty old. It's not a theme park, it's a bowling alley, and it's fun without without the frills.
It's great exercise. Anyone, regardless of physical condition can get something out of tossing a few strings here.
It's great for kids...from 1 to 111 (and older too).
For a night out, it's cheap.
It's a relaxing, no-pressure first, or second date place. I could go on, but I guess what I'm sort of attempting to try to say is that...Norwood Sport Center is a really cool place. Go. Have fun. I do. Often.
Some things in your life will never change: your mother's nagging, that mole on your back, the vegetable oil stain on the front of your favorite shirt, and Norwood Sport Center. The only change to this place in my lifetime was the smoking ban. Everything else remains the same.
Norwood Sport Center is, first and foremost, a bowling alley. Candle pin bowling. This is New England, we candle pin. None of those big wacky balls for us. Heck, until I went to college in upstate New York, I thought big ball bowling only existed on television.
I grew up bowling at Norwood Sport Center or stopping in to play video games after a trip to the McDonald's across the street. I couldn't tell you what video games they have now, or what songs are stocked in the jukebox. This is a no frills bowling alley. The prices are low low low and you get what you pay for.
Last time I was there no one seemed to notice that my friends and I were dumping liquor into soda bottles. So don't let the lack of a liquor license steer you away.
