Norwood CC still has a long way to go but it is under new management and the greens and fairways are getting better. Time will tell. Decent driving range although I wish they would have just a couple of grass tee boxes.
Don't go there if there has been a lot of rain as it will be muddy. It was a swamp years ago. Also be on the lookout for small planes making emergency landings, ha ha.
Not much to say. Probably the most boring course I've played by a good stretch. Cheap enough. But boring. The driving range balls get ALL over the fairways that border them with nets, taking you an extra 5 minutes to find your ball.
You can definitely do better. Just search around. Newton Comm is better. Putterham too. This is just a boring, not overly well maintained course.
Yawn.
I went to the driving range part. It will cost you $10 to get a bucket of 84 balls. It is a kind of ghetto. However, I liked it. I am just starting to get into golf and this place is perfect for me.
I want to like it, but it is one of the worst tracks I've played. Swampy, uninteresting layout. Relatively cheap, but you can do better. Their (Sterling mgt folks) other tracks are much better.
It's cheap. and it's flat. and in some areas it's muddy
but it feels great to get back on the course after not playing all winter.
I enjoyed myself and would go back, but I'm not in any rush.
I give it 2 stars. As long as you know what your getting into you'll have a great time

I'm a real fan of cheap, available public courses. Just not this particular one. The whole experience feels moderately like being on a chip and putt. The layout leaves much to be desired, and its in pretty terrible shape. This is to be expected, but I still can't fairly give this course higher than 2 stars. If you want a good cheap public course in the area, go play Braintree instead.
My least favorite part has to be the giant net separating the course from the driving range on holes 1 and 10. Who thought that was a good idea?? It makes you feel like you're teeing off in your back yard.

By no means is this Augusta National or Pebble Beach. However...the Norwood CC is a funky course not far from Boston on Route 1 that demands intelligent shot selection. It's a flat 18 holes, muddy in a few places, with some surprisingly challenging fairways. Not the kind of course that greatly challenges a golfer's skills but a satisfying place to play nonetheless.
