I live about 2 minutes walking distance from this bar. I know that they recently underwent a management or ownership change and that the crowd has gotten a bit younger.
I came here with my friend (after Pita Kitchen) on Friday because we weren't ready to call it a night.
Other Yelpers are correct when they say that the exterior does not coincide at all with the interior. It's done rather nicely with leather booths lining the entire place.
We sat down at the bar and a really nice bartender greeted us. She gave us drink reccomendations based on the type of drinks we usually go for (very much appreciated). I had a cucumber margarita. It was SO good! Really really refreshing. My friend had a gimlet (spelling?), which was also good, but a bit heavy handed on the lime juice.
We arrived a bit early, so the dj was just starting up. Music was good, it was starting to be more packed as we were leaving.
It's just as good, if not better, than any other bar I have been to...AND it's walking distance from my house!
I want to go back on a Sunday and check out the karaoke night!
Score, I've found a new spot to have a drink and chill!
The new owner is a first time bar owner and it shows. Inside it looks like a hip little Hollywood place and judging by the prices they actually think they are in Hollywood.
The owner is there almost all the time and he usually has quite a few "homeys" with him. All of them watch you constantly often giving you the evil-eye and generally making you feel uncomfortable. I've experienced this as have several people I know who've gone there.
There is very little parking. Drinks are overpriced for the area. And the owner is a douche bag.
If you want to feel uncomfortable and pay too much in an uptight atmosphere, this is the place to go. If you want to kick back and have a few reasonably priced drinks with good people go to any of the numerous neighboring bars
I've been here a few times with some friends that are from around this area...
I've never had a bad time here...I treated it more like a lounge...A few long booth style seats and a bar...
I always hear the same thing,
"It's the bar from that movie Justin Timberlake was in..."
I have no idea...
Drinks are nice and strong...Bartenders are real attentive, but then again, my friends and I are a real attractive bunch...hahahaha...
My only gripe is there is no place to sit and smoke a cigarette...Nothing really beats being able to enjoy your freshly poured drink in one hand and the first cigarette out of a newly opened pack of Marlboros...
Other than that, good for what it is and if you treat it like that, then you shouldn't be disappointed...I also noticed a lot of people come here to pre-party...I usually end up meeting people telling me where the hot spots are, depending on the night...

This place looks bad on the outside but very clean and freshly remodeled on the inside. I do not hang out here much but it is a nice place to go for a change of scenery.
The bar tenders are very nice and make great drinks but I have to give it 3 stars because the location sucks, North Hills is one the more shady neighborhoods in the Valley (2 blocks east is the worst neighborhood in the valley).

Ive been here a few times just about 4 times ok at 1st it was ok for a valley spot until......all these lil homies and lil dummies starting to burn this spot, starting fights bringing their gang banging crap. You have a bunch of people thinking they are high class and think they are ballin and try to floss their rides with their system. High school reunion here so expect to see the whole valley here. Crowd sucks period.Gets overcrowed No room at all so dont wear your good shoes here someone is guaranteed to step on them. And then they decided to make a cover charge after a certain time of 10 bucks for a lounge in the valley come on b.s this isnt Hollywood or the spot to be at. The doorman is the biggest douche bag in the world thinking he is the shit. The outside makes it look like a hole in the wall place but the interior is nice, drinks ehh ok... go to the liquor store next door to make your drinks stronger. Parking sucks here too...
-Ok so thats his opinion... I on the other hand like this place! I love the music, if you live in the valley and like to run into old friends, umm your probably gonna run into them here. Everyone goes here. I like seeing friends I haven't seen in a while... as for the drinks, I guess its gotta be a female ordering cuz mine are always waaay too strong!! I gotta keep asking the bartender to add more juice! I'd give this place 4 stars.
"I'm a cowboy, on a steel horse I ride...I'm wanted, (waaanted) Dead or Alive"
It was 1am and I remember looking upon the crowd (7 people) and thinking man I'm good. About two people clapped and i went back to my barstool ready to sign up for another song to karaoke.
Norwood is in North Hills, and sits on the corner of Nordoff & Woodley. Hence the name. From the outside it looks like a run down unkempt building. The sign is dingy, and some letters are missing from the lotto sign out front. But inside, is the epitome of a "dive bar". It is a good size. Bigger than a hole in wall and small enough that the barkeep won't forget about you.
I went and was served by a Bartender named Vicki, she makes the drinks strong and knows what she is doing. I initially went to shoot a game of pool and have two drinks, but as the night progress I ended up participating in the Karaoke and chatting with the friendly local who are there almost daily.
The Karaoke is Fridays, and Saturdays, the joint has a pool table and a couple of dart boards. The smokers you will find congregating outside the back door, inviting you into there conversation and willing to let you bum a cig if need be.
All in all it is a good place to unwind and spend an evening. There is no rough riff-raff in there and the atmosphere is very inviting to newcomers.
I think ill go for happy hour...

so yes, the norwood is cool on the inside, and as a valley resident with some (just a few) standards, there is a dearth of nifty spots for the afternoon apertif. excellent red walls and a clean bar. sanitary bathroom. BUT our bill for three drinks at 5:00 in the afternoon came to 25$, and that's after the happy hour deduction of 1$ per drink. i just don't think a shot of jameson should run me $8.00, especially when it's not a hefty shot in the first place! truly, it is unfortunate, cause the place is indeed cool, but i will continue my quest for a neighborhood non-dive bar elsewhere!
I don't know yet. The decor is not too bad, but the filtering at the door is kinda funny for North Hills. Plus, the drinks are kinda pricey for a dive bar. My boys used to go when it was a biker bar and where astonished when they visited recently. Nothing really sticks out at the Norwood. If you need a drink and SOME kind of ambiance...then sure, swing by.
Well unless you want to hang with the Homies than this is the place to be. My lady friends and I decided to check it out and see if it was true "The happening place of the Valley"... (in my mind I heard a tape rewind), what the HECK? This was no place for us to hang. We were receiving the evil eye of the Homies & Homie-rettes. Seriously, I was ready to fly out like a Bat out of Hell. But because we are decent ladies, we decided to finish our drinks (Martinis) and walk out in the most fashionable way possible. The drinks were mixed eh-okay. PHEW!
I came here on a non-karaoke night so my experience was probably tamer than usual. I really love it here. Northridge lacks a lot of places for nightlife, and this place is really nice inside. Its really chill and nobody bugs you here, you can just come here after work and relax. It looks really run down outside, but in fact it's remodeled inside so you can totally take a date here and look savvy. Their mixed drinks are delicious. Enjoy!

Do you live in Granada Hills, North Hills or Northridge? I do. You must, or you wouldn't be looking for somewhere to drink in Granada Hills, North Hills, or Northridge. This place is probably your best bet in this part of the valley. The interior is really well done and the bartenders are cool. And if the little postcards advertising karaoke and DJ nights are to be believed, it is also occasionally hopping. The couple of times I went I was impressed by the bar itself, but sad that no one was showing up there. Perhaps it was too early, or perhaps the nascar on the flat screen turned them away. I don't know. All I know is that as a resident of Granada Hills, North Hills or Northridge, I desperately want someplace decent to drink locally to help me forget that I live in Granada Hills, North Hills, or Northridge. Therefore, I am rooting hard for the Norwood. I give it a five in my 'if you build it, they will come' fantasy of what it could and may be; but a three for its current lack-of-crowd. However, as an unapologetic optimist, I say with zeal and great hope that Granada Hills, North Hills or Northridge is the future Culver City. So if you want to go now, to where the cool kids will be then, you must start frequenting the Norwood immediately. (when my fantasy has been realized I will bump up my rating to a four or five. Then after it gets *too* crowded, I will pull it back to a three and write a new review about how I knew it when it was undiscovered.)

I happened upon this space after working a catering job in North Hills this past weekend (I didn't even know that North Hills existed!). All of us ladies carpooled around looking for a place to get a drink and relax after serving people for 4 hours in the brutal valley heat. What a find! A quaint slice of the valley life if there ever was one. It's tiny, with a pool table, a few tables, and a bar with 2 taps (bud & miller). The highlights for me were the strong gin&tonics, and the wonderfully awful karaoke. One gent was grunting through "hello, I love you", by the doors, and a few songs later, "devil with the blue dress". It was so bad it was comedic. Then there were the gratuitous "serious" karaoke-ers: Audioslave Chris Cornell sound alike with the creepy trenchcoat, the guy who sang "when Doves Cry", and then hollered- "if you learn one thing, it's that the man is always right!"-you can't make this stuff up. Fantastic free entertainment to say the least. If you are in this neighborhood and need refreshment, I would definitely recommend this place.
